Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Disappointing

Dining area was excellent, service was also very good. Rooms are poor, beds caused constant back pain, air conditioning didn't work well and nights were too hot to sleep, the bathrooms are not even close to a 4.5 star hotel. Much too small and both my husband and I suffered injuries to our feet as the bathroom door opens into the toilet. Staff are very pleasant but communication was mostly impossible, I developed diarrhea 3 days of 7 after eating in main dining area. We were unable to walk the beach in peace as we were harassessed constantly by people trying to sell us something.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great resort

Overall our stay was great. A bit of background: My only other comparison is 3 trips to cuba, my fiancé and I stayed April 4-11; ages 26/27. We are not picky eaters nor would I consider us high maintenance. I travel a lot in the US for work so I have my fair share of hotel stays under my belt. The food was great; always something to eat. My finace has broken his back twice and I have rheumatoid arthritis and when we got home we were both in agony. The bathroom door wouldn't close and the AC didn't work.. and when I went to call downstairs... the phone didn't work either. I have never complained and had my room switched but I figured 3rd times a charm and get a new room. We moved the next day .. had to move our own stuff which I was surprised but no big deal. The pool is beautiful, beach is beautiful. I got eaten alive on the Safari tour.. by the way.. unless you like going to places to have locals sell stuff... don't waste the $75 USD. The bars in the main hotel close at 11 so unless you are going to walk out to the disco (located in the entrance of the resort) you're having an early night. The drive is also 1.5 hours from the hotel but that's not a fault of the hotel Overall I enjoyed my vacation (I paid under $900).

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Good not great

Beaches are beautiful however rooms are the worst I've seen they need some updates and work done to them. Overall the resort is not that bad. Food was very repetitive so you get really sick of it fast.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Very nice

Overall a very nice hotel. The beach was very windy So we stayed at the pool the majority of the time. Service was very good and the animation team was always trying to keep you emtertained and engaged.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great bang for your buck!!

The grounds were great; not too big so everything was easily accessible. Fantastic and friendly staff, the entertainment crew were particular fun to hang around with. The nightly entertainment was hit and miss some night but all in all I was entertained! They offered a good variety of food and I didn't feel the need to book an alacarte. However the house wines were poor quality so we purchase some lovely and affordable bottles on occasion. The beachfront was lovely and there were always plenty o [... read more]f chairs available regardless of the time of day. Dollar for value, I would go back!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

The people were very friendly the service was great . the food was better than average the cable car tour was a blast. The ocean was beautiful and it was fun watching the cruise ships come in. The only issue was that they ran out if ketchup if u can believe that.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Fantastic resort

We loved everything about this resort...the food was excellent, the rooms were great and always kept clean. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Best of all, very little insects, clean beaches, great entertainment and amazing excursions. We don't have one negative thing to say. We'd return here in a heartbeat and would highly recommend this resort to anyone.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Very Very nice great place

We just returned from the Grand Paradise playa dorada in Puerto Plata Dominican Republic. This resort is very nice rooms great food fabulous pools clean and plenty of room. Staff terrific entertainment group and activity team terrific especially since we found out one of the young men was killed in a horrific accident when we weee there .And the rest of the team continued, but you knew it must have been very difficult for them all. Casa Marina Reef Resort: Hidden gem

Nice place... I was very shocked for a 3 1/2 star... food was really good to me and I'm very picky... clean rooms , nice people, wicked beach, great shows and entertainment. .. 2 min walk into town which is mint... lots and lots of places to eat and the have everything. ..and it's all good... I will return to this resort in a heart beat.....

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Lovely resort

Resort met my expectations with beautiful grounds, clean and well kept. Staff are friendly and polite. Rooms could use a little sprucing. Buffet can be a little repetitive but otherwise, always found something to eat. Of the a la cartes, Italian restaurant was rather a disappointment. Beautiful beach but often difficult to get a beach chair. The pool area could use more umbrellas as difficult to keep out of the sun. Overall, a wonderful vacation and would recommend this resort.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing staff and service

Stayed March 31-07 -16 , Staff is what makes this hotel , the food and service are the best . The main pool area is crowed with not enough shade umbrellas , with the same problem at the beach . Surf was high most of the time at the beach with sea urchents on the reefs so wear good water shoes , the vendors on the beach were persistent and overwhelming Safe on the resort with plenty security , we had friends at the resort next door that we couldn't visit or vice versa . Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great service

Loved our stay at blue bay. The rooms are pretty basic but the service was out of this world. Shout out to my favorite bar tender Gabriel Diaz! He treated us so well and would be the sole reason we would go back to blue bay.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Good Value - Solid 4 Star

This resort is listed as a 4+, it merits a solid 4 star rating. The grounds are very well kept, and the resort was very clean for the most part. We did have some issues with small ants in our room, and killed one big freaking spider in the room as well. They do fumigate the rooms, so this was not a big issue to us, as this can be expected in this climate. We were a little turned off with the fact that smoking was allowed pretty much everywhere, included covered areas for eating/drinking. While I [... read more] respect the rights of people to smoke, this should be outside of covered public spaces. While some of the staff were extremely friendly, most appeared indifferent, which was a little off-putting. The pool bartender was brutal, he ignored patrons and wouldn't prepare a mojito even though it was on his cocktail menu. The food was pretty good for an all-inclusive, but would have liked to see more selection of hot vegetables. We had traveled to a Riu hotel in Costa Rica earlier this year, and we found this resort just didn't compare in quality and service. This resort would be perfect for families, as there are a lot of activities put on by the animation team and they are really top-notch. All in all a good place, not a great place.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great resort!

This hotel was very clean. Buffet had a great assortment and all very good food. The 4 other restaurants had delicious food but book early for the whole week as many were disappointed. Also men had to wear long pants or could not go in. The grounds were well kept. Staff all friendly and helpful. Pools were great. Tons of activities

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Wonderful resort

Place was just lovely! The grounds were lush and tropical and the rooms were very nice. The beach is not overly long, but still makes for a nice walk. It was quite windy, but apparently that is normal. I liked the winds, otherwise it might have been a little too hot. Shouldn't complain though......was happy to leave Canadian temperature's behind. The food in the buffet was delicious. Lots of variety and very attentive staff. I would definitely return, as it was a perfect vacation.

The grounds were beautiful and clean. The only thing I could complain about is it's not at all like pictures on the web page. The staff was incredible and friendly, the food was great. I would go back!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Beautiful Resort!

To start off from the airport a little over an hour drive to the resort. Checking in takes place on the bus therefore a voicing long check in lines. Very much appreciated! Grounds immaculate, traders always working hard! Staff outstanding, some still learning and in training...all good! Pools 3 in total, 2 quiet pools the other main pool lots of activities. Bathroom and shower no issues . Food outstanding! We did not leave there craving anything, all our needs were met. 3 specialty restaurants were all great! Our preferred one was the Italian. Japanese close second. I notified the guest services that we were celebrating an anniversary and we were greeted with a lovely banner across our door for the week. In the room a complimentary bottle of Brugal Rum, Bahia Príncipe t- shirts, fruit platter, balloons to name a few. We took walks on the " Pueblo Príncipe" aka main drag for some shopping and casino life in the evenings. Definitely a 5 star in our eyes as the resort met and exceeded all our expectations!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Awesome place to be

Food was really good, staff was super nice. Resort was beautiful and kept super clean! All around amazing experience :) pools were very beautiful and clean. Beach was nice, a little rocky but warm. :)

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Very clean!

It is dated but the staff are amazing! The food was good, the pools were very nicely kept, the beach was great, the entertainment was awesome! Anything that went wrong was fixed within the hour! For the money it was well worth it!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Fantastic staff!

The grounds were beautiful and very well looked after, food got boring after the 4th day, was windy all week so we didn't spend a lot of time on the beach. The a la carte process was ridiculous. Stood in line for 40 minutes to be told that the Steakhouse had been booked but the staff member didn't bother announcing that so we only by chance over heard somebody say it as they walked by. Our room didn't have water a couple times but they quickly made the repairs so it wasn't off for very long. Staff were fantastic - always saying 'hola' and smiling - absolutely no complaints for them - except . . . . . a pair of brand new shorts disappeared out of my luggage . . .
