Riu Vallarta: Good bang for the buck!

The hotel staff were friendly and organized upon arrival Our rooms were ready before 3pm check in. The hotel is on the larger size from what I am use to. The rooms are well kept and clean. I found the bed comfortable for Mexico. The grounds are well kept. The food is great however the buffet becomes a bit much after the 3rd day because there is such a variety of choices it's almost overwhelming We went to two of the ala cart restaurants. Furniture in the lobby area is very worn and needs to be replaced. The beach is beautiful. No palapas but you can rent an umbrella from the hut guys on the beach for $150 pesos per day. Overall a great resort for the price

Riu Republica: OUTSTANDING HOLIDAY!!!

We just came back from a PERFECT week in Punta Cana. As recommended by Jennifer Collard, from Trip Central, we stayed at the RIU Republica and we were very impressed with the resort. Although it is quite large, it is very well designed, making everything very "centralized" and easily accessible. The entire resort is VERY clean (bedroom, dining areas, washrooms, grounds, beach), the service was outstanding and the food amazing. Riu Palace Paradise Island: Warm and friendly staff

The rooms definitely needed upgrading but were clean and the hotel waiters and waitresses were so attentive and efficient, they have a lot of vacationers and had a short period to keep their tables clean for the next people eating, very impressed. Great variety of foods for all types of eaters and very tasty The beach was gorgeous, clean and inviting, a little to tidal for a non-swimmer but great for swimmers and snorkelers alike. Riu Montego Bay: Mediocre Hotel

I stayed at this resort with my family (family of 4), children included for 7 days and we found this resort mediocre compared to other ones we have been to. The washrooms were disgusting- toilets always clogged. It was hard to flush the toilet, my daughter often complained that she could not flush it. We were not able to visit any of the A la carte's because you can no longer book reservations, it is on a first come first serve basis with ridiculous lines--try standing in line with two c [... read more]hildren a 2 and 5 year old. There wasn't a huge selection at the buffet and very little authentic Jamaican food. However the Jerk Hut is amazing we went every single day. Our room was cleaned only two times out of seven days! That is ridiculous especially with kids. The beds were not the greatest but overall the room was okay, spacious. They also did not restock the minibar and fridge had to call the front desk for it to be done. We found the beach very rough only spent time there twice out of the whole trip other than when we went down to the Jerk Hut to get our lunch. The pools were alright, the side with the swim up bar is very busy. The entertainment staff (we love Zoey and Foxxi!) were very friendly and interactive. My family enjoyed the shows every evening. We received great service from all staff overall. For how expensive it was to stay at this resort we definitely didn't expect it to be mediocre.

Riu Palace Antillas: Good Resort

The Riu Antilla is great as you still have access to the family friendly resort next door. The only complaint we have it that the fire alarms starting going off one night for a few hours and management never gave anyone an answer even though there were tonnes of people in the lobby. Other than that, the private villas are definitely worth the upgrade and the variety of food available is great.

Riu Vallarta: Fun trip

Hotel room was dated, bed was very old and couch was very old, though clean. Food was what I expected. Good pools great ocean swimming. Staff were great overall. Bars seemed understaffed with long lines.

Riu Republica: Modern Oasis

The resort was new, with a clean sleek simple design both inside the hotel /dining as well as on the grounds. The buffet gave very good choices. The food at the steak house was excellent. The beach was awesome, however, the waves were very big and strong making kayaking almost impossible. Entertainment was good. This resort seemed to be peepier than its neighboring resorts. Overall a great resort.

Riu Republica: Amazing resort

Beautiful,beautiful,beautiful. The staff are great,the rooms are beautiful! The food was good. The animation team were amazing always happy and energenic.the resort is extremely clean! There are 3 pools and always enough loungers for everyone! I only have amazing things to say about The Riu Republica we had an amazing time. We would definetly go back to this resort highly recommended!

Riu Republica: Good time

Loved it. Everything was perfect. Food staff and entertainment was fabulous. Only thing missing was room service. We did miss having the option of breakfast in bed. Super fun energy from animation team. Great beverages. Loved the huge sun shelters. Always lots available.

Riu Republica: Great resort

The hotel was very nice but access to and from our room made for a long walk each time. It is unfortunate that the complex was not designed with more exits to the grounds. Everyone has to pass through the lobby in order to get to their rooms. I am hoping with the new addition that is presently under construction that a trolley system will also be put in place as it is a fair distance to walk. The staff was the friendliest I have ever encountered. This includes the wait staff in all the restaurants and buffet, bar tenders, pool maintenance, grounds keepers, front desk staff, animation team and the maids. Each and every one had a friendly smile and went out of their way to help. The pools were great, whether you wanted to participate in the activities in the party pool or relax and read a book or nod off at the quiet pool. There were plenty of chairs and shade at all the pools. The beach was lovely and the big waves were fun to play in. The food was very good with lots of variety. We especially liked the Steak House and the main buffet. All in all, it was a great vacation.

Riu Merengue: my husband and i were at the riu bachata not riu merengue

very friendly and helpful staff the grounds were well groomed ,my husband is in a wheelchair and was able to access all areas of the resort .our room was a disabled room which made our vacation stress free .when we arrived at the resort due to miscommunication we had no disabled room available but the sunwing representative looked after us and in no time there was a room available.we enjoyed ourselves met a lot of nice people if our health continues we are booking for next year.

Riu Merengue: Good times at Riu Merengue

Little ways from Puerto Plata makes this place nice and quiet. The food is good but I would add some day to day variety. The eastern part of the beach is more swiming friendly, although not a spot for snorkeling. The staff is awesome and really friendly everywhere on the resort. As far as the activities outside the resort, I suggest to use the packages sold at the resort; if you're trying to do it on your own, you will most likely ending paying more to get less. Bring some tip money!!!

Riu Emerald Bay: Beautiful resort

We stayed here as a getaway after our engagement. We loved the pools, friendly staff and the nice clean beaches. The food was great too. This hotel is good for family and couples it has something for everyone

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Fun time but not likely to return

Grounds were Nicely maintained, plenty of seating for everyone, beach was as to be expected on that side of Costa Rica, staff are always happy and friendly, most rooms on the inner side have a partial ocean view, food was typical riu resort fashion

Riu Guanacaste: Decent Resort!

Hotel was super clean and well-maintained! Staff were really friendly. Lots of fun poolside... entertainment staff were really good at getting people involved and including kids. Food was okay.... would have liked more snacks (cookies, French fries, ice cream etc) available around the clock

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Friendly Staff!

The Riu Palace is a nice clean resort with friendly staff. The Riu resorts don't offer the same quality of beverage and food variety that other resorts do for the same dollar value. The pools were nice and always clean. The lunch provided by the pool side was the same each day with a meat substitute.

Riu Reggae: Riu Reggae

Very much enjoyed our holiday. It was our first visit to Jamaica. The staff at this resort stand out as exceptional. The service staff, the entertainment, the cleaning staff ( I have never experienced such immaculate pool side rest rooms) were what would make us return. The resort is attractive, though on the small side for what we are used to. For some this would be a plus. We really appreciate that you don't need to reserve for sit down restaurants!! Buffet had theme nights and was good on the occasions we ate there. One last note : we read reviews where people hated planes flying over- they do, however the short ride from the airport totally outweighs that for us!!

Riu Ocho Rios: Very good entertainment and food

The staff were excellent. Spending time with Sheldon playing horseshoes was awesome. The buildings themselves were a little dated, but comfortable with a colonial atmosphere. The food selection was excellent, particularly in the buffets and the steakhouse. The entertainment was fantastic, and was full of variety. The shows were something new and interesting every night.

Riu Palace Antillas: expected more

The rooms need to be updated!!! There is carpet is the hallways, and has a distinct smell. Food is good. The downside is you can't make reservations for the a la carte restaurants. they are first come first serve...which was a problem for us as we like a later dinner. The beach was amazing. Easy to get to downtown area, just take the bus

Riu Republica: Awesome Beach

We stayed at the Riu Republican from March 23 to March 30. We arrived at approximately 3:20 to find our room wasn't ready. We were directed to the buffet to have something to eat and our room was ready by 4:00. Our room was bright and I loved the turquoise accents. It was a Courtyard view (2151) in a quiet building. For evening dining we decided to try the a la cartes we never [... read more] had to wait to be seated. Our preference was the Asian restaurant which we went to twice. The buffet was also great with a wide selection of food. Service was very good in all the dining areas. The dress code for dining was very lax. Bathing suits were allowed in the buffet for breakfast and lunch but most people dressed up a bit for dinner. Long pants were not required for the men in the a la cart in the evening. There were three pools at the resort, one was private, one was quiet and the bar pool was very active. We preferred the quiet pool and never had difficulty getting a lounge chair. The beach on the other hand, if you wanted a lounge in the shade you needed to go down at about eight o'clock to reserve a chair. The beach was amazing for walking. The ocean was fairly rough. We had three days of red flags which really didn't deter some people. The rest of the time it was yellow flags. Overall we enjoyed our stay, great service, good food, good drinks, comfortable rooms and an amazing beach.
