Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: nice staff but I think this hotel used 2 to better

We were greeted with the warm cuban smiles and amazing hospitality from the moment we entered this property. The rooms were clean and always decorated with beautiful swans, hearts, etc. The staff at the main buffet restaurant- both the ones making our food and the wait staff were all amazingly warm and inviting. The beach is beautiful and not very busy. The only thing we had issue with (and I don't think this is the animation crews fault but perhaps how the hotel is being managed in recent years [... read more]) was that there were not much of the typical activities during the day as in other hotels. I have been to other hotels in Cuba and there are always very fun activities during the day and evening - with amazing cuban music and lots of dancing but there was not much of that in this hotel to our surprise. I was told by others that this has changed over the years and the animation team (most are still the same people) were much more active and there used to be a dance team at nights that was specific to the hotel - but all this has changed over the years under the new management. So this hotel lacks music, dancing, and energy!!!! If these were put back in place, I would definitely return!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great beach

The beach was beautiful and we'll kept. A little rocky but nothing you couldn't avoid since the water was so clear. Tropical fish off the beach with or without bread. Resort was quiet but still had fun. Food was okay we figured out what we liked. The bacon was amazing. Staff was very friendly. Great drink variety.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Amazing as always !

I have been to this Hotel over 25 times . I have been going since 2006 and every year the Hotel has been improving. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone . The pepole are the best part of the Hotel. Cuba is safe and fun and they all treat you like family. This is my Home away from Home. Whether I go alone or in a group we have so much fun as there is so much to do...

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: nice

The hotel was nice large many building, only one Buffet not a lot of variety. People friendly, but more to men then women I found. A la carte were great, service great. beach was full of stones and shells but water was amazing. beautiful weather.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very pretty and relaxing resort.

Hotel grounds were well kept with a nice Botanical garden. Spa service was ok with employees not all trained in Massage techniques, as only men do deep tissue. It was not appropriate for us as a couple. We were reimbursed for one massage. The Spa was private and had a beautiful beach and salt water pool. This was great for pictures. The food was definitely great with something for everyone to enjoy. The staff were fantastic. The rate of exchange in Cuban pesos was a rip off as we lose converting [... read more] to US then pay more to convert to Cuban. It rained for three days then beautiful sunshine. This didn't bother us but there was nothing to do when it rained. The entertainment staff need to be trained to keep people and activities going In the lobby area with fun games with small prizes. There were only board games, 2 pool tables and a Bar to get your drink on. The lobby was very nice to just hang out and meet people. Nightly entertainment was good with dancing sometimes. The restaurants were all great. The Internet was hit and miss as we couldn't contact all our family. They need an upgrade to this service especially when most people hang out in the lobby to relax and enjoy a drink or 2, set up dinners, spa services etc... The Beach was full of Coral and not safe to swim in but snorkeling looked like fun. You could always find a palapa and some sandy areas to stand around in the water. The pools were very nice and lunch restaurant by the pool was the best. All in all we enjoyed our time at PRDO.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: A great surprise

Love this resort. Food was very good,not a huge selection but everything was tasty. Great poutin. I would not suggest staying in the main building, no balcony. Rooms and grounds were always clean. Most employees were very friendly. One very grumpy old bartender at the 24 hour bar. You must say hi to Noel and Christian at the main swim-up bar,great guys. Tell them Joanne says hi. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very nice and clean Resort

Nice pools, The resort was not congested at all. Not lot of variety but food is very good. Staff was very friendly always swilling to help. The location is good. It is hard to find taxi during night hours.

Playa Costa Verde: everything you would need very Good - Excellent

The grounds, food , cleanliness, hospitality was very good. Entertainment lacked a little in the everning, but during the day it was great. the pool was nice and big, The beer hut was also good with music playing

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Good Times

We had a great time. The Benny's restaurant was great but the Italian restaurant was not that good. The buffet had a good variety and the ham and cheese sandwich at the snack bar was delicious. I would go back.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Nice clean resort

We were at the plus side of the resort, the room was a bit small but very clean, always stocked, we were in building 16 and that location was the best, right beside the new pool which was awesome, quiet, always a chair under shade, the beach was nice, a little pebbly, you may want to wear water shoes, I didn't and it was fine, the sand was nice and soft and white, again you could always get a chair under shade, there was plenty but take in mind it was the quiet season, May 8th is when we went. T [... read more]he buffet was good, lots of variety, the restaurants were ok, the Italian was our favorite, good thin crust pizza and different kinds of pasta, you have to ask for the other menu, it has more food but for some reason they do not give it to you, you have to ask. The grounds were nice a bit dry and they are still growing and planting on the new side but it is coming along nicely. The washrooms were always clean. The disco was a lot of fun, the shows were ok. For the price I would recommend.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very nice resort

The rooms were very clean and comfortable and spacious. Staff at the resort were very friendly, and willing to do so much for you. Felt very welcome by all those working at the resort. There was a good variety of food available. Really enjoyed the Japanese restaurant the experience!!!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Interesting experience

7 days at the beginning of April - excellent weather, very nice resort. The room (in the 100 section) needs improvements. Good meal if you know what to ask for (real yogurt, real chicken, lamb, rabbit, etc.). I would not recommend a-la-carte restaurants. Don't miss the "cafe concerts" shows every evening in the lobby bar! Overall a very nice experience.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful Beach

A beautiful Beach, lots of different areas to relax, have fun, good food, great piano bar, with chocolate fountain and fruit, we will return, prices are great for this resort. Next time we return we will stay either in the bungalows, or the villas, the villas are closer to the ocean, main hotel has a nice view of the ocean if facing the front, no balconies, a bit noisy.

Playa Costa Verde: BEAUTIFUL BEACH

Being my first trip to Cuba I was pleasantly surprised. I did not go in with high expectations and had heard the food wouldn't be good etc. We went with a couple who recommended the resort and who had been there 7 times. This made the trip all the better. It was not a busy time (beginning of May) so it was not too crowded at any of the resturants and there was always a place to sit at the pool and the beach. The temperature was hot every day (34 in the shade and the water temp was at least 82).  [... read more]It did rain on our first day at supper time and again on the second day at supper time but that was it for the rest of the week. We were thrilled as we expected it to rain as it is the start of the rainy season. Humidity was high but there was a nice breeze every day so it didn't seem so bad. The food was to be expected but there was always something on the menu worth eating so you would not go hungry! The rooms were modest and could use a little care but they were clean every day. The service there was always great and the people were always friendly and smiling. We asked for water to be there every day in our room and it was. Some other people in our party didn't get water the whole week?? Different maid I guess. The best part of it all though was the beach. The water was crystal clear and right off the shore were the perfect places to snorkel. We snorkeled every day and took many great pictures. Lots and lots of different fish to see. You could use the snorkel gear there but had taken our own with us. There is a small reef of coral just off the shore and some people wore water shoes to cross. We took them with us but didn't feel the need to wear them. There were kayaks, paddle boats and small sail boats to use, all free of charge. We went on a catamaran trip with a guide and that was quite an experience. It was exciting as the waves were super high and maybe just a little bit scary but our operator was great! Not sure if that's for me but my husband loved it. All in all, for the cost, I'd go back and recommend this resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Good for young people to party

Not a place for good food or exotic drinks but entertainment is fantastic. Public beach is fantastic for snorkeling or just swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. Also boardwalk between Brisa’s and Club Amigo is pleasant for a stroll.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Excellent Resort

this resort was beautiful with gorgeous pools. there was plenty of different dishes of food in several restaurants. The VIP section is well worth the extra money. there are many activities you can book or just relax by the pool

Playa Costa Verde: We keep returning

This was our third time at this resort. The beach and snorkeling are the highlight for us as well as the Japanese a la cart. We're missing the bicycles this trip but took advantage of the moped rentals to check out local villages. Friendly, clean and service oriented. Only challenge for us is the beds.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful beach, good food, pretty grounds...

Good food (lots of fresh fish, veggies and snacks at the buffet and snack bar). Beautiful pools and beach although beach gets deep very fast and windy (at least while we were there). Very attractive grounds though rooms a bit outdated (good for cuban standards however). Service at buffets could be improved (long waits for water, cutlery/clean tables-servers seemed to stick to return visitors) but at other restaurants/bars/snack bar was always excellent.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Resort

It was our first time to Cuba. All in all the Paradisus Rio De Oro was a nice resort. The people were very friendly. The grounds were well manicured. Our room was ok- the bathroom was dated but our maid, Joandra kept it very clean for us. There were only two things we felt needed improvement- the nightly entertainment and their dress code for dinner. The men have to wear long pants for dinner- This is understandable for the fancier restaurants, but not for the buffet. The buffet is more of a re [... read more]laxed dinner atmosphere and shorts should be allowed. Each night they had live entertainment- but it wasn't always professional. Some nights you felt you were watching high school skits. If you are interested in taking a day excursion, the catamaran ride/swimming with the dolphins is excellent. The lobster lunch was delicious!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great time in Cuba

The resort is very nice. The beach is the best in Cuba. Our room was clean with fresh towels every day. The food was good. Night entertainment is fun. We had great time and definitely will recommend this resort to our friends.
