Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Stunning beaches

My 8 year-old granddaughter and I spent a sun and fun-filled week at Riu Bachata. when it came to swimming with the ocean and numerous pools we were spoiled for choice. The room was clean and comfortable. Entertainment first rate and staff friendly and helpful. Food and drink plentiful. All in all, great value

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Amazing resort

we had an amazing time! We are simple folk, who don't complain or expect much, the grounds were beautiful, the staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. The rooms are simple, our ac broke, but we didn't tell anybody, so no clue what they would have done. The food was pretty good, buffet food is not amazing no matter how you slice it. Ignore the hookers and they don't bother you. Lol! The town is nice, I always felt safe.. All in all I had a great time and I fully intend to go back.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Riu Bachata - good value for what we paid

The Good: Price/value, beach, clean rooms, ocean, sunshine, heat, location, landscaping. Lots of palm trees, lots of shade if desired, nice waves for sea kayaking The Okay: Room size (smallish size), decent food (not great, but pretty good), water is not the clearest because of the waves, beach is rocky in sections (better at east end Riu Merengue The Bad: Mattresses, a-la-carte restaurant choices, swim-up bar (loud and classless), loud drunken guest making noise late at night (near disco). T [... read more]he worst of the drunken tourists were the Canadians. It's was so embarrassing to see them with their big, insulated bubbas making fools of them selves. One day the pool at the swim-up bar had to be drained because someone vomited in it. All-in-all it was a good value for me and my family. We stayed at Gran Bahia Principe resorts the 2 prior years and preferred them but this was much cheaper. You get what you pay for I guess. Would I go back to this Riu complex? Probably not, but I like the area and would head east of Puerto Plata instead (to Sosua or Cabarete). The best part of our vacation was the awesome and well-priced private excursions we had with Pedro Suero, a local tour guide, who showed us the most interesting places. His cost was roughly half what the big tour companies charge and it was private for our group (ranging from 5 to 6 on 3 separate excursions). Pedro was amazing and a wealth of information. Paradise Playa Dorada: perfect location

We loved this resort! The resort is in a gated community of Playa Dorado (felt very safe). The beach is beautiful. We loved the open feeling of the buffet and Eden restaurants. A la carte restaurant Michaelangelo's was wonderful. The food is great at buffet as well. Our trip was well put together through Trip Central, they even shared hotel park and fly information from Toronto that was perfect. Hats off to Lawrence Solomon!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great resort.

We had an excellent trip. The price through trip central was fantastic for our one bedroon suite. The food was terrific compared to our recent Cuba trip. The staff were wonderful. The resort was beautiful, the grounds well kept. The beach was very good and the room well maintained and clean. We will return to this resort soon.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Loved my stay!

Beautiful place! Loved the staff, my room, the beaches just everything! I loved that there was so many pools and the resort didn't feel crowded cause there were so many places to hang out. Loved to have been able to take a beautiful bike ride around the resort.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: great value

this resort although older is very clean and well kept the pool is cleaned each day and the staff very friendly the food is above standard for a 3 star.there are three a-la-carts all were good the animation staff the location is great only 10 minutes from air-port.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: decent, lots to do

room was lovely, had a main floor corner room with wrap around deck, right across from the pool and facing the ocean. lots of games to play and helpful if not overly friendly staff, I enjoyed there breakfasts but lunch and dinner were not to my taste.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: great resort

the grounds and rooms where kept very clean, we stayed from march 6th to the 13th the weather was beautiful the people very friendly, food was good day time activity's we great with the staff being excellent

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Disappointed. Was not the same as last time

Beautiful place and very clean. Food was very repetitive but their was always something to eat. Wifi sucked and was no longer available in our rooms. The day we left to go back thd bus driver loaded up our luggage and when we got to the airport and collected our bags the bus driver handed me my bag and i noticed my front pocket was half torn off. When i confronted the bus driver he proceeded to tell me that it wasn't him and that it must have happened at the hotel. This is definitely our last ti [... read more]me with Air transat.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: enjoyable property

This hotel is a very nice place as it is a good size and has all the amenities of a larger place. We upgraded to an ocean view and it was well worth it. The room was great and the food was good.The staff is top notch. Close to the airport.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: first class resort ever.......

this is the cleanest resort I have been to. Service is first class.Staff always had a smile for you. The food is excellent,. always hot, and a great variety, Carved turkey and ham at serving stations on Wednesday night. All a la cartes also perfect, They had perfect salmon. chicken and lasagne. The beach is lovely, lots of chairs and pillapas. also you can walk for miles.

very clean ... oceans are beautiful ..food is pretty much the same everyday ....a LA carted were good this was me second time there and would go again some of the staff spoke very good English and French ..... had a blast

Paradise Playa Dorada: Good Resort ,Getting Better

This was our 6 time to this resort. This was an Air Transat package. We arrived at the airport they had us on one bus to transport us to the hotel and then told us they had us on the wrong bus. So they took our luggage off and then put us on another bus . Then because the bus had mostly all the S-trip kids going to Grand Paradise[only one other couple] they told us we should get a taxi. I told them I was staying on the bus if this bus is going to Grand Paradise and that is what we did. The ala carte were nice. It was nice to get served a meal. We had a problem on the beach one day in which a hotel guest took our towel off our chair and took our chair. I think they need more beach chair and more shade. It would be nice to have cabanas. It was a nice getaway and we look forward in returning again .

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Exceeded Expectations

Travelled Mar 7-14, 2016. Fifth trip to DR, 4th to Puerto Plata, but it has been a few years. Can say that this trip reaffirmed my notion that the Dominican people are the friendliest that I have encountered on my sunn, southern excursions. First time to the Iberostar and I must say that I appreciate the free wifi, accessible from anywhere except the beach. Furniture a little dated, but well kept. Marya our maid always left us a little surprise each day, towel art and flower petals and did an im [... read more]peccable job of keeping our room. Comfortable mattresses and crisp linens made for a wonderful rest. Always lots of hot water and great pressure. Small touches such as balcony rack for drying swimsuits, makeup mirror, awesome toiletries, along with a hair dryer, great coffee, and black out blinds were a welcome surprise. Didn't try any a la cartes, as found the buffets had a huge selection. Awesome variety, especially fish and seafood (lobster, shrimp etc.) Probably the best buffet of any we have been to. Check in was swift and staff rearranged our accommodations quickly, to accommodate another couple travelling with us. The pool was large enough that you could be a participant in the activities, or find a nice quiet spot to sunbath. Lovely beach, great for walking and always clean. We were a little disappointed that the ocean was red-flagged most of the week, due to winds. However, the weather is beyond the control of resort. We knew before we left home that the whole Caribbean was expecting overcast weather with showers on and off for the whole week. We did get a few light showers, but only enough to cool things off. Can't say enough about the staff....Nelson in the buffet, Isador at the pool bar, Angelina in activities and Marya in housekeeping, plus too many more to name. Thank you to all that work behind the scenes, gardeners, laundry, kitchen staff etc. as you all helped to make our vacation a hit. A big thank you to Air Transat for another wonderful holiday.

Well Kept always - Staff always willing to help - food hot and plenty - Rooms could use a update - a very relaxing stay with plenty to see and do - a wee bit to far to go on any outings but a great place to relax and enjoy

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Good place for vacation

We had a really good time. The resort is really big though , we were thankfully in a convenient location. Room was nice , bathroom and balcony were a great size. Beach was a little disappointing as you can't walk far and there's quite a few areas reserved for VIP. There's also no chairs on the beach but we just brought ours down there. Food gets repetitive for breakfast especially, quality was ok but nothing impressive. There's just one area that has an open sewer pipe that smells really bad.. so pray that your room is not near that ! Honestly , we had a great time , the weather was perfect , lots of friendly people and great price.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Amazing experience and resort!!!

A wonderful place to take a break from the real world!!! Loved the staff and the resort!! The nightly shows were amazing!!! Food was delish! Rooms were very well kept, housekeeping staff was great! Servers were very attentive!! Definitely will go back again and again!!!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great resort!

Our family of 4 had a fabulous time at this resort. The kids were entertained all week long. Resort was well kept, rooms were clean, food was fantastic, and the staff were kind and always helpful. Great value! We would definately go back.
