The Jewel Punta Cana left me feeling wowed but not in a good way. The reception staff were rude and ignored the long line up of people waiting to check in. This set a bad tone especially after a long day of flights and waits in multiple airports. There was no direction to our room upon arriving and our bags arrived 2 hours after we got to the room. The rooms are very old and smell musty. Our fridge didn't work and never got fixed until the day before we left. Each day we had to track down housek[... read more]eeping at 5pm to ask for water in our minibar which is very needed considering you can't drink the tap water and must also brush your teeth with bottled water. We ran out of toilet paper and tissues more than once and when we asked for it was told "later." Our TV remote had no back on it and our shower head fell off. Thank goodness I am handy and fixed it myself. The wifi never worked for more than a few minutes at a time and when we asked were told it was from rain that was non existant. Majority of the waiters and bartenders were absolutely wonderful but the housekeeping was very unfriendly and we tipped well but then stopped due to the poor service. This resort is very large and I feel people should be made aware of how much walking there is involved for those that struggle a bit to walk. The outside is gorgeous however it does not match the inside nor the way we were treated. I will not revisit this resort and recommend customer service training for reception staff and housekeeping employees especially when most depend on tips. The rooms also need major upgrades. This is not at all what I expected from a 4 star resort. I felt like I was staying in a sleezy abandoned hotel room.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: 3 star resort, not higher
The resort is extremely understaffed. The rooms are quite dated, each room has issues. For example, our shower was broken, water facets were covered in rust and our AC control unit was defective. Our friend's TV was broken, another friend's AC was moldy, and so on and so forth. They make you change rooms and you discover different issues in each new room and have to move again. This doesn't feel like having a vacation.
The food was okay, but again, we had to get our own water, coffee, and tea, [... read more]because there was not enough staff to help us.
The beach itself is okay, but there are a lot of rocks in the water, which makes swimmable spots crowded with people.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Fantastic Resort
The people make this resort! Truly, some of the friendliest, wonderful people I've ever met! Shout out to Andy who went over and above! He is an incredible asset for Blue Bay!
The beach was lovely, clean and warm ocean water. They have a smaller, quiet pool for people just wanting to relax and maybe read. The other 2 bigger pools are where the action is. It's a great option to have, depending on your mood. It's not a party resort and probably more than half the customers were over 50. The resor[... read more]t definitely has alot of fun dances and activities; it has a good balance of both. Perfect place for a week of relaxation!
My one and ONLY complaint is the food was not good. Saying this, I can be a bit of a picky eater. I certainly ate but I found most food had way too much garlic.
The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Beds and pillows were great. Yes, maybe a bit dated but who cares? You're not in the room much!
I would absolutely go back to this wonderful resort! Everything but the food was exceptional. We had an amazing time and look forward to seeing all our friends at Blue Bay again!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Very nice
This is my 8th stay at this resort for reasons I share with many others including family!..
It's quaint..beautiful and perfect size for us..food is exceptional as are the staff and attention to detail..
But!!!...in high season I would change the idea of allowing as many locals because it's already far too busy..we also pay to be a VIP guest!
I mean no disrespect to these wonderful people but the lineups are already too long and some of them are simply..rude!

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Not a Wellness Resort
While you tout yourself as a "Wellness Resort" you do not entirely subscribe to this on-site. I spent almost my entire vacation trying to have NON alcoholic beer as a beverage at the various bars around the resort. Let me correct that...I would have been thrilled to have it at the lobby bar only.
I was originally told that the resort had NON-alcoholic beer available and would also put them in the mini fridge. I received 2 the first night and 4 the next night. That was it.
I was then [... read more]told that it (NON alcoholic beer) was only available in very limited quantities to those that stayed at the Level accommodations. I was also told it was upgrade. I was also told that there wasn't enough in all the resorts around the area. Actually I was told a number of things.
Originally I was told that I would be taken care of...then those people avoided me like the plague. But you see, I wasn't belligerent, I wasn't rude, I wasn't argumentative. I was asking to be given the same service as those of my group that had paid for an all inclusive experience with alcohol. But it fell on deaf ears. "They are taking care of it." was the my typical answer. Not sure who "they" were but THEY didn't take care of it.
To be fair Ubaldo (the manager of the lobby bar) tried his very best to accommodate me but the management team above him seemed to stifle my requests.
I actually ended up buying my own NON alcoholic beer from a local store. So I'm looking forward to the credit I will be receiving as a result. Plus the credit for not drinking alcohol but paying for it as part of my package. I'm estimating that it's close to $600 USD. Please refund my credit card accordingly.
You are no more committed to wellness than any other all-inclusive resort. I made a life decision to improve my health and you made a corporate decision to castigate me for that decision. I was influential in the decision to host our group of 8 at your resort to satisfy both my friends needs and that of my own. You forced me to literally beg for a NON ALCOHLIC beverage...at a WELLNESS RESORT!!! Pretty ironic!
This entire review is directed at the middle and senior management of the Melia Company and of the Punta Cana Beach Resort specifically.
To say that I'm disappointed would be a massive understatement and an unfortunate mistake on your part.
I look forward to my reimbursement and change to your corporate policy.
Sincerely
Dave Valcourt

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazin resort! Loved it a lot
An absolute paradise! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and exceptional hospitality, Albenis at the front desk was very helpful. The resort's breathtaking beachfront location made our stay unforgettable. The rooms were immaculate, clean and spacious, offering a Jacuzzi, and stunning views and utmost comfort. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every need was met, from personalized service to incredible dining experiences. The food was so good at the restaurants, snack[... read more] bars, beach restaurant and buffet. The variety of activities and entertainment options catered to every taste, ensuring there was never a dull moment. Everyday there was something to do, or some kind of event like the foam party, karaoke, acrobatics performances, all white party etc. We had the most exceptional service at El Olivo Gourmet Restaurant. At the main buffet Acuario, Fernando made us feel at home and provided unmatched service. The staff were very friendly, polite, and made us feel welcomed. We left feeling rejuvenated and already planning our return. A truly remarkable destination for a dream vacation!

Temptation Miches Resort 21 Plus: It is ok!
OMG the place is great! Fantastic Idea! Great atmosphere but poor execution! It is like they created a resort in an area of no other resorts and they want to rape you for any excursion or real food?
We have been to Punta Cana area every year in the past five years and the food here is for sure the worst!
Horribly over cooked no beef that was not road kill or it very similar. Every thing except the Italian restaurant was poor! The Sutra or cook at a table oriental attempt at meal was a 2 star a[... read more]t the most.... they over cooked every protean in your face,,,,, they massacred the best part being shrimp.
This place is trying to become a fun place for adults but they have the RIP OFF approach to all there extra prices that are less than half in more populated centers like Punta Cana for example a 3 hour boat party boat cruise with snorkeling at the hotel was $300 US for 3 hours with drinks..... same thing in Punta Cana $100.... no taxis,,, massage for a couple $450 steak dinner $ from 65+.
The steak house is the worst I am a BBQ nut in Canada cooking steaks for family every weekend for 6-12 people so I know steak! These folks serving the first dinner service at 7 pm ran out of strip lions and proceeded to serve me the last of 6 folks a picante cut which sucked just from looking at! It took 15-20 mins of arguing to convince the waiter this is not what I ordered.... y issues and not his....20 mins later i get a knocked down version of a rib steak in lieu of there mistake but the waiter tried to convince the table it was my mistake in Spanish and would no longer speak to me in English
This was our 3rd visit to the same hotel. We will NOT be returning to your hotel. Staff very unfriendly. Not eager to help or help at all. Service terrible at buffet meals. Food was always on the cold side. Can certainly tell cut backs are in hand as little fish noted on menus especially at buffets. Used to have smoked salmon every morning. Think I saw it there 3 times on our 12 night stay. The salmon that was there looked greasy and very unappetizing therefore never having any. The most annoyin[... read more]g was your construction that we were told was minor. Well jackhammers, cement trucks and constant noise was heard well into our nights. We were told it would be from 8am to 6pm well that was certainly not the case as we saw them working well past 9pm. Not to mention the construction dust always in the air especially around the pool. Calling the front desk for assistance was very slow and the internet was absolutely aweful. We could NOT get wifi in our room the entire time of our stay. Not even on our balcony. Could only access at times in Lobby which was a massive inconvenience. Often ran out of drinks at bar area by lobby and service there horrible. Was happy to leave and come home !!!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: 5th visit to a GBP
This was my 5th visit to à GBP: Punta Cana, Samana, La Romana, Sian Kaan and now Bougainville. Last visit to La Romana was in 2015, and now Bougainville section in 2023, things are old although very well maintained but outdated, redecorating would cost millions as all GBPs have same decor, I understand.
Therefore, you need to improve things within your control. When in Bougainville, the VIP level should be that VIP, all things should be included. At bars for example, I shouldn’t have to pa[... read more]y extra for top shelf alcohol. Check in I should be made to feel like VIP and priority as it’s supposed to be, our transportation brought us to main lobby and I had to insist we were at Bougainville while regular guests were being check in easily we waited for cart to Bougainville lobby. Once at Bougainville, no welcome drink, no towel to refresh face, nothing to make us feel WOW.
Only thing that was amazing was staff which should be recognized and rewarded as they made our stay excellent:
-Lissander at main lobby bar was the man, orchestra leader and great with guests and always smiling and laughing
-Marien & Edgar @ quiet pool bar
-Gelson, leading the team @ 4
-Yariza @ Corales drinks
-Yasmin at buffet
-Buffet Dominican Night both servers Joaquin Rosario y Wilbel Holguin were super efficient and speedy and courteous
As for TripCentral, they communicated with us with useful information before, during and after our trip, that was amazing!

The grounds were immaculately kept. Beach was good. Rooms were big with comfy beds and pillows. Pools was very accessible and clean. Food was typical DR. Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Worst Grand Sirenis resort
We went to 3 Grand Sirenis resort this year. Cuba, Mexico and Punta Cana. This was by far the worst resort we have been in the past 20 years.
Everything from rooms, lobby to pool to restaurants. Rooms were dirty even with tips every day. There was a water leak and took very long time for someone to come fix. When asked if we could switch rooms it wasn't an option, used towels everyday cause it stilp leaked. The service is extremely poor and rude for most. Often the staff don't greet, always loo[... read more]k unhappy, makes it unapproachable for others. Mostly the front lobby bar is the worst. Most times were served old beer. Pool bar is slow service cannot keep up with the demand. They serve adults and ignore the teens and younger children when wanting to order non alcoholic drinks. Not a family friendly resort. Waterpark is not well maintained, most people, adults and kids complained about getting cuts or scrapes going down the slides. Lack of entertainment. A la carts is ok and buffet is same everyday. One night at one of their restaurants we were first in line (group of 10 with young children) told to wait so they can clean up the tables to accommodate out large group which was fine but the next two groups were also a group of 10 and 6 were seated before us. The staff gathered to put other tables to accommodate those two groups first while still leaving the non clean table unattended that was meant for us. When mentioned they said we still have to wait till they come to clean it to sit us at it. On top of that we waited for over 2 hours for our food, when asked why it was taking too long they replied due to the other large groups orders. While others were ordering their drinks, we ordered food first instead knowing our kids were hungry. The kids hamburgers, hot dog and pizza were last brought out last by then kids were sleeping. All the time waited the orders were even wrong. Next restaurant was served molded bun and tried to tell us it was a vegetable bun and compared it to the poppy seed bun which look nothing like the green fuzzy mold on the bun. They picked it off and asked if we still wanted it or get a new one. That was ridiculous. Our kids were traumatized by it and didn't want to eat anything with buns, often afraid something is wrong with the food being served. There's a time frame when buffets are closed so two snack bars and a takeout pizza place are open but most of the time they were also closed leaving people hungry and upset. If you didn't pack snacks, you'd starve till dinner is open. I would definitely not recommend this resort to anyone.
