Riu Palace Mexico: Good Time Had BY All

We just returned from the Riu Palace Mexico ,overall we had a very good Holiday, we had spent a vacation there seven years ago and enjoyed it then so we brought our friends and family down this visit. The travel agent Jenn Black was good setting up our trip,but we where to have a room set up for three people and when we got there we had two double beds and a couch with no pull out. The resort is beautiful and the grounds are kept perfect,pools Resturants are clean and well kept. The best part was the staff they can't do enough to help make your trip enjoyable, the Bar/floor manager Hermain went above and beyond to make our every day special,please let the Riu resorts know what a valuable employee they have in Hermain (not sure of the exact spelling of his name) We do plan to return to this resort again. Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Best Secrets in Mexico

After a second visit, the resort was still fresh (more lush now) and very well maintained. Nothing looked tired after 4 years. The restaurants are basically the same at each Secrets (food & service is pretty good) and little wait time, if any. Plan for > 1 hour travel from airport. Beech was well maintained (no seaweed outbreak this time) and good snorkeling. Pool area dining each night was just ok (table service was inconsistent). Brand name alcohol everywhere. Barcelo Maya Riviera: Amazing Resort or Conference Centre

All ratings are 5 star with the exception of the resort decor. The complex has absolutely maximized the view of the ocean, pools and beach from the rooms and buffet (5*). Room The rooms are crisp, clean, with lots of toiletries refreshed daily with an amazing view (room 4753 - 5*). Late afternoon and evening the island of Cozumel is visable. Food: Food at the buffet is excellent with amazing varieties including specific sections for vegan, diabetic, gluten free (5*). Food at the La  [... read more]Comedie French and La Dolce Vita were outstanding, except we got ill from the La Dolce Vita twice. Beach: The was kept very clean and a nice long length to walk (5*). The best area to swim was in front of the Maya Beach resort where there are no rocks. Snorkeling is best at the Maya Palace Beach, but limited and busy. There was never a problem getting lounge chairs at the Maya Riviera beach. Pool: The pool is awesome (5*+)! The water is a perfect temperature (February) and never crowded. The pool bars need a drink menu posted and perhaps highlight a drink of the day! Washrooms were kept very clean. Towels are readily available and don't require checking them out. Resort: The resort is also a conference centre and it looks like (4*). It severely lacks decor and the tropical ambiance. Perhaps it is not complete given it just opened in December 2019. The lobby bar is insanely loud and clearly need some sound absorbing material. There were no problems with check in or check out, in fact Carlos was amazing changing rooms from one near the loud music pool bar and elevator to a room in the middle of the resort with a stunning view. The wrist bands unlock the hotel room, so don't loose it or there will be a fee! Excursions: We booked 2 excursions. The 3 in 1 (Tulum, snorkeling and swimming in cenotes caves), we booked prior to the vacation and was the highlight of our trip. It was outstanding! The second trip we booked at the hotel through Sunwing and enjoyed a trip to Cozumel that included the Arrecifes National Park where we snorkeled, enjoyed a beautiful beach, visited the crocodiles and flamingos, and climbed the 130 steps at the lighthouse for scenic views before heading back to Cozumel for tequila tasting and shopping in the port. Lots of travel time on that excursion; didn't get back to the hotel until 9 p.m., but an enjoyable day. Overall: The Barcelo complex of 6 hotels has a great location (about 1 hour from Cancun airport) and ha something for everyone. The shuttle from the airport is one van that only goes to the Barcelo, so no stopping at multiple resorts. The food is excellent at all the ala cartes, the beach is awesome, the staff is very friendly, the views from the Maya Riviera resort are stunning and the pool is perfect. The resort itself just needs some personality!

Barcelo Maya Caribe: amazing resort

This resort was excellent, I always felt safe, security cameras in place, the restaurants were delicious, anything that you would like to eat, the grounds were beautiful, with maintenance upgrades, painting, lawn and garden care going on all time. The staff were vey friendly and helpful. Lots of activities, mini golf, bowling, sports bar, casino, shopping mall, Mexican market, go carts, zip line, kids pools, lots of swimming pools to choose from, beautiful beach area, and you could walk from one [... read more] section of the resort to another under covered walkways, you never had to leave the resort. The things I was disappointed in was the extra costs for some of these activities, I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable price, but some of the prices were extremely high, and therefore most people didn't use them, if they had cut the prices they would have been used instead of being left empty. We had purchased the Elite Plus, which gave us Priority Boarding, but when boarding the plane, even though we were waiting to board, they allowed other passengers (20 -30) to board ahead of us, these passengers were not travelling with children or had no sort of disability, we even asked some of them if they were priority and they said no. When we pay extra for this service, it should be given to us (as they had the same chance as us to pay the extra) and the others should be told to wait until their sections are called. Overall I would recommend this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beautiful Resort

Very large and beautiful resort with access to many different options. Great food at the restaurants and buffet. The only negative I would add to my review is that there was only one electrical outlet beside the bed where the alarm was plugged in and that was it. Overall, beautiful place for a family vacation.

The Sens Riviera: Great vacation resort

The Sunscape Akumal has many great qualities, such as, no arm bands, no requirement to pre-book restaurant sittings, well maintained facility. Only confusion was that when we booked it showed as a Sunclub King with Balcony, however we recd a sliding door with a railing ( no balcony ).

Riu Palace Mexico: Amazing resort!

Lovely wide, long beach which is groomed everyday. No reservations needed for a' la carte restaurants and can go as often as you wish. Food was very good. Service was excellent. Rooms are starting to show their age, but still comfortable. Felt very safe and bonus being able to visit nearby Riu Hotels for shows and food. Nice being able to walk to Playa del Carmen.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Loved it!

Great resort !! Staff were all very accommodating , grounds were gorgeous, food was amazing! I woukd not hesitate to return. Having all of your excursions etc included was a definate bonus as you could do as little or as much as you wanted. Hope to return again!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: exellent resort

this resort was big got lost alot but very clean and the worker were very polite. the resort was a little pricey for mexico but we had what we needed. i would recomend this resort to anyone going to mexico. the only draw back was the corruption i seen at the airport where a couple had to give money to official to get their pass ports back.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Great Resort

Have nothing to say bad about this resort. After 20+ years of visiting have found a resort that provides everything we are looking for. Exceptional customer service, beautiful beach, and great food. This is my fifth visit and will be back.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Awesome vacation!

I just returned from my trip to this resort. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this trip. The hotel was very clean and staff was pleasant. Resort is very big and you have to take trolley’a to get around which we did not mind. Food was very good especially at the a la carte restaurants. The beach was okay, a little rocky but some spots were perfectly fine. Overall, we had a great week and would definitely return.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Beautiful Resort

Had a wonderful vacation at the Barcelo Caribe, however we were disappointed with how expensive the extra amenities cost. We don’t have an issue with paying extra for activities but what the Barcelo was charging for bowling, go carts and zip line was unreasonable.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Second year and we’ll be going back!!

Everything about this resort is amazing - attentive staff, great food and drinks. You can swim with tropical fish and turtles from the resort’s beach - no excursion necessary. Like many people that go to this resort, we are repeat visitors and we will definitely be back!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Wonderful as always but need some changes

I love the Mexican people, very kind, happy and the best. The hotel is very good. We have been there 5 times already; however, we have noticed few changes in the past 2 years. The quality of food and variety was number 1; however, has declined in the past 2 years. One thing that really bothered me this year was how early they are closing the pools..6:00 pm, my kids were very disappointed. Other than that I was very happy and can't wait to go back.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Relaxing and clean

We really loved this place, safe, clean, friendly with excellent facilities. Lovely beach and great pool. The kids loved the food choice, the white sands and clean beach. Night shows were brilliant and well organized. In a great location for local visits to historic sites and snorkelling. Great waking up in the mornings to bird song and lots of sun.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: This was amazing resort

This resort had everything lots of restaurants with good food lots of pool and beach chairs great for walking The only bad thing was they charged way much for the extra activities (bowling go carts Ziplining ) and nobody was using these because of that . If they would lower the price on these activities they would make a lot more money from these and there guest would be lot happier that they are there

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Had Fun!

Cons: - total pain getting a room. the first one they gave us came with two double beds - we are a couple, we just want one bed. We were told they would move us and told to come back 3 hours later, when we did, someone had given away our room. So we stayed with the two doubles and then switched finally the next day. Third time's a charm. -Greeting desk is awful. Not very friendly, when we left they were like ' have a nice day' - no questions about the stay or anything that would make you want [... read more] to come back. Like they didn't really appreciate the business. -Came for the third time, but no acknowledgement of that. Except for trying to get us to go to the sales presentation again. Otherwise, could care less about repeat business. -Parents just let their kids run wild. Jumping in an out of the lazy river - super annoying but not the fault of the resort. -Place is huge, lots of walking - but not really a con Pros -Staff (other than front desk) were awesome. Beach staff were incredibly awesome. Tolerate a lot of annoying holidayers! -Food was awesome. The chicken wings on the beach are the best things we've ever eaten. Japanese and Brazilian a al carts were fantastic. -relatively clean -Landscaping was beautiful -beaches were beautiful -Nighttime theatre entertainment was excellent. So good every night.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Good choice for family getaway.

Very well kept. Lots of activities for family with children and grandchildren - including the pools and waterpark and beach, recreational options and evening shows. Great choice of restaurants and buffets.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Ok resort

Most of the restaurant were really good. The Aroma and the Brushetta. The buffet was not that great. To much of the same things. The beaches had alot of seaweed. The reef were ok. Very clean resort and friendly employees.

The Sens Riviera: Sunscape Akumal - the good and the bad

Sunscape Akumal - the good and the bad. Let’s start with the travelers be aware the pictures you see advertised are mostly from the Sun Club area of the resort. The beautiful pools, sun beds – all for Sun Club only. Which is an upgrade. If you do not get the upgrade you get one small pool with not enough lounge chairs and very crowded small part of the beach. Don’t even bother asking for bottled water that’s for Sun Club only. The rooms are nice. We had aunts in our bathroom so th [... read more]ey had to fumigate. Food was good – but I am not a picky eater. Coco café was the best. If you are coming with kids they have great kids area and programs. Evening entertainment was also good. All the staff work very hard and are very pleasant. Because of the restrictions I will not be returning. My suggestion to the resort – please give guests spoons when serving coffee at the buffet. With all this said we still had a nice vacation - how can you not when Toronto had -30 C.
