Occidental Caribe: Great Resort!

Beach was stunning. Food was great especially the a la cartes. Tons of entertainment and staff was awesome. Shows were great at night - more so when they involve the crowd. Drinks are good and tons of alcohol in them. Big resort but definitely fun.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: very nice resort

Hotel was great. Rooms are great. Resort credits are a sham. And is only really a coupon book with discounts. Special restraunts were ok. The golf coarse was great. It was free with the package.But you had to pay 65 us each for cart rental. Mandatory. Clubhouse best food of the whole resort.

Barcelo Solymar: one of the best yet!!!

the check in was easy, we were late arrivals, given a room in the dark, and off to the town to calle 62 for the evening. the next morning, we were put on a list for an upgrade room , and received it by 200pm that day. the buffet was ample for us, as no need for a la carte. there was plenty of variety and we were spoiled by everyone. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Five Star all the Way

A beautiful resort with awesome pools, kids waterpark and amazing beach. The food was A1 with lots and lots of variety at every meal. The beach buffet and bars were close to the pools and beach and a delight to eat and drink at. The theatre and entertainment was a highlight. The grounds are mature growth and very well kept and the walkways made it so very easy to get around. Everything seemed so close to get to. The maids were wonderful and couldn't do enough for you. Really appreciated the in-r [... read more]oom coffee maker and well stocked fridge. It was truly a dream vacation for hubby and I and we would love to make a return visit.

Occidental Caribe: Disappointing

Pool area and beach was amazing. Resort was pretty close to the airport. Disco was very fun. Rooms were not very nice. Food was not very good. Most staff were not overly friendly. Entertainment was poor

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

We had a wonderful experience at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the resort was well organized and beautiful. The weather was perfect and the we were not bothered by anyone selling us junk on the beach. The food was excellent and we were cared for by happy and attentive servers at the buffet restaurants. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great stay!

Very nice hotel, pools and beach were very nice, and staff was very friendly and accommodating. The maya and Caribe side were more modern décor, while the tropicale and colonial were the more traditional Mexican décor, it was nice to have access to all 4. The a la cartes were fantastic! would stay here again, huge resort with lots to do We did have our bag stolen at the pool, but can't blame that on the resort!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Very nice resort!

Grounds were lovely, beach was gorgeous, staff friendly, everything always nice and clean but...room was damp with the humidity, air conditioning quality might have been better and we had trouble with our phone even though it was replaced twice. I would definitely recommend this resort!

Occidental Caribe: Our stay at the Barcelo Punta Cana february 2015

We had no hot water in our room for 4-5 day's. The bus that took us to Nicole's we had to book our seats, when we were to come back the bus was smaller which left 4 of our members left behind as I had to wait over 1 hour for my husband to come back to the resort with our room key. when I bought the internet they asked me which 3 day's I would like as I did purchase the 3 day package I said mon/wed/and Sat as I came to use my Saturday it did not let me connect as I went to see about it, the atten [... read more]dant told me it was 3 consecutive day's so I had to repurchase another day for 12$ as the 3 day's was 27$ went to pay at the lobby they told me it was 13$ so added another dollar. We were 12 people in our group and only 1 of us did not get sick the rest of us all got sick while we were there.

Sunscape Dominican Beach: No Real Complaints

We stayed in the Jr Suites in block 6 and for,the extra cost it was worth it. The room was a bit dated and could you some upkeep ,ie. Shower rusty and couch looks old. The bed was comfy and room kept clean. The grounds were well cared for. The beach was nice and they tried to keep up with the seaweed that would float in. The resort was busy when we where there so had to make sure to reserve some beach chairs. The buffet was ok and we had no stomach troubles, although made sure to use the bottled [... read more] water in our room for brushing our teeth as well. Security watches the beach and keeps an eye out on the rooms. We had stopped by our room to pick up something and the door didn't shut completely within a few minutes there was a knock and the security guard was checking to make sure all was okay. All in all had a good time and no issues.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: GREAT RESORT WELL SETUP

It was a last minute decision to visit this resort. Grounds, pools, food, beach, staff, public places all awesome.for us, the rooms were dated but if you spend much time in them, you are not on vacation. sunshine :) Tks;Tripcentral

Barcelo Solymar: VERY POOR

This resort was horrible, the bathrooms disgusting to accompany no hot water and no water pressure. They didn't have the common sense to clean their beach at night and their beach chairs are dirty, worn and torn. The buffet is one of the poorest I have ever endured in Cuba

Occidental Caribe: It was an ok resort

Well it sure had its ups and downs. The downs being the water was hardly working in our room so we couldn't flush the toilet or shower, and I found some of the employees really not friendly. Also I didn't find that the entertainment staff tried to get people involved as much as they could have. The beach was lovely and the pool was nice.

Barcelo Karmina: Nice Resort

This was a beautiful resort, nice grounds, the pools were very nice and well kept. The beach isn't very big and swimming at low tide is difficult to do especially without water shoes on because of the rocks. The hotel room we had (2011) had a little bit of what looked like black mold near the A/C vent and the couches were in very rough shape. Other than that, our room was nice and a very big. It had two TV's! lol The service at the restaurants was sometimes slow but not too bad. The food was goo [... read more]d and there was always a large variety and usually someone cooking fresh food on the grill. The drinks at the bars could have been better, we found them to be way too sweet and the pop/soda was always flat when we ordered Cuba Librés. The excursion guy (Miguel) was outstanding at his job and very knowledgeable. He was always around during the day if you had any questions. Overall, this was a good resort and we would consider going back someday.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Wonderful - IF you stay on the resort

Barcelo Puerto Plata was a beautifully clean, well managed resort. The rooms were clean and large. Mini bar really means pop and water, but if you wanted alcohol it was never very far away. Live entertainment every night was fun and entertaining. The 2 pools closed at 6:00 pm would have been nice to go for a evening dip but we understood about the safety factor. We were Never informed that the Barceló was on a "Public Beach" and the hotel security had no jurisdiction to chase them away. I suffered overwhelming panic attacks after the first 2 days of even venturing onto the beach in fear of being bombarded with requests to buy things. To please help them to feed their families. I would recommend the hotel to a friend but only after I warned them about the beach and the people there waiting for them.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Wonderful Resort!

This was our second time here and we really enjoyed our stay! There were many activities for my 15 year old and new things such as a bowling alley, paddle tennis courts, Pirate's Island, and a mall. The staff were always smiling and helpful. We would definitely return to this resort.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great Resort - we would go back

Hotel is close to the airport. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, well groomed grounds. Service at the bars/restaurants was quick, food was great with lots of variety at the buffet, as well as plenty of restaurants to choose from. Make your dinner reservations for the week as soon as you get in to get better choice of seating time. Evening shows at either resort were very entertaining. Sunscape Dominican Beach: Not bad, but would not go back

We stayed at this hotel from Feb 17- 24, it was not a terrible place, however I will not be back at this resort. When we originally booked it was a 4 star hotel and before we arrived it had changed to a 3 star. The Beach was amazing, lots of chairs at the beach and the pool. However if you go to the Casino Bar Calvin was a very good bartender, made excellent drinks and his service was fantastic! Cleanliness - Cock Roaches in rooms, and they fumigated and said it wasn't harmful and we could stay in our rooms. When we got our room cleaned it would always be around dinner time, and we would never get enough towels. However the house keeping staff were very nice but spoke barely any English. The Resort Grounds - Were well kept and they were always fixing something. We were not bugged to much on the beach for locals selling stuff. Pools - were not the cleanest Not that you go down south to play on the internet however the WIFI you pay for barely worked while you were in the lobby.

Occidental Caribe: Had a Great Time!!!

Resort is good and I would recommend/return. Service in restaurants, bars and around pool was excellent. Food was good; had an omelette everyday, custom pasta bar was great, a la cartes also nice. Only downside; not enough lounge chairs around pools or on beach. This lead to people stealing chairs; witnessed several altercations and had my chair stolen once. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great getaway

My wife and I just returned from the Barcelo Puerto Plata resort. Buildings and grounds were kept up well. Plenty of restaurants and nice buffet. Didn't care too much for the Japanese restaurant but probably went expecting what we get in Toronto, which it wasn't. We upgraded to a Club Premium suite in building 16 which "made" the trip. Highly recommend the upgrade although probably wouldn't book the suite next time, just a Club Premium room -didn't use the extra rooms much.
