Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Not a 5

Resort was beautiful and had lots of things to do. However, the food was very mediocre - buffet food was cold, several burgers tried through the week and weren't cooked fully. Selection was very repetitive for each meal. Resort was clean and staff was friendly. If food was improved, resort would be a five star in our opinion. Would not return due to the food issue.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Very nice resort. Excellent for Families

Very nice Overall. Beds a bit too hard. Friendly and Hardworking staff. Food generally very good. Liked Pool Areas and lots of chairs, loved the Hammocks. Beach very nice, need more shade on the Beach. Very Clean Resort.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Exceeds expectations - lovely holiday

A thorougly enjoyable experience; resort has depth, and many options for things to do; location is good, within easy reach of a number of off-resort activities. Beach is lovely, and snorkelling right off the beach provides rich views of tropical fish and turtles. Staffing levels are high, and staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Very Nice Resort!

The only reason I didn't give the Barcalo 5 starts is because of the travel time from Cancun after an already long day of travel. Resort was fabulous, the food was good, the pools clean and no chlorine!! Beach was excellent and the rooms just what you need.

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Dominican beach

Rooms and hot water( lack of) need improvement. Paid 30$ US for the worst WiFi ever. 2 minuet walk and got excellent wifi for FREE. The pathways are a stamped concrete and hard to walk on. The English translation at buffet needs to be reviewed by someone fluent in English / Spanish.

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Great Resort

Awesome value! Excellent service. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The resort has something for everyone. A beautiful beach, 4 pools, 2 buffets, unlimited a la carte's, 24 hour bar and snack bar.

Occidental Caribe: Great Vacation!

Overall, the hotel is very nice but is in need of continued updates which I know are taking place. I would suggest paying the extra for an upgraded room, as the older rooms are very basic and not in the 'nicer' area of the hotel. The food was great! We enjoyed the following a la carte restaurants: Japaneese, Dominican and Seafood. All were absolutely amazing; food and service! The str [... read more]etch of beach in front of the Barcelo is one of the nicest, with enough room for lounge chairs and people to walk along the surf. The main bar opens at 8am, offering specialty coffees...with Bailey's or Kalhua and they even had clamato for Ceasars!!! Yippee!

Occidental Caribe: Amazing vacation!

The pool was amazing, beach was breathtaking. Bartenders were super friendly, nightlife was great! Ocean view from our room was beautiful. Can't wait to go back again next year! I will recommend to all

Occidental Costa Cancun: Fabulous 2 week at Barcelo Costa Cancun

Warm welcome- room upgraded on arrival! Concierge -Ivett Munguia-most accomodating! Facilities immaculate.Al la carte restaurant Clare Boya- manager fabulous! Waitresses-Juani and Sandra -the most loving ladies!. Bartenders, activity directors were so inclusive and friendly to all!. Resort accomodated a Super Bowl party- game day food and all! Food better than any previous resorts we have been at. Beach a bit small, but away many days to the nearby excursions. Would absolutely stay here again!!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Beautiful resort

My husband and I stayed here from Jan 28 - Feb4/15. We've been at this location several times in the past, the last time approximately 6 years ago. Many new additions, very beautiful mall. One thing we noted now is there are a lot of young kids at this resort, never bothered us but seems to be geared more to families. The grounds spotless, food great, especially the Seafood and Japanese restaurants. Rooms cleaned daily, staff great, pools spotless, beach kept clean, lots of chairs. Occidental Caribe: Beautiful amenities

We stayed from From February 8-12, 2015. We travelled as a couple with our 6 year old daughter. We didn't participate in the resort events, didn't eat at the restaurants and did not attend night shows or casino. We did indulge in the wonderful pools and beach and loved it. We were not a fan of getting up early to save loungers with our towels - but whatever. Breakfast buffets were busy but good and evening buffets were not busy at all. Just wish our room had been more up to date and modern. We would stay again, but we would get a better room...

Occidental Caribe: Punta Cana Paradise!

Location, weather, staff, food and excursions were amazing. Unfortunately upon arrival, 2 hours after check in, our room was not ready. Every day we had to make a complaint and search down room service staff for wash clothes and towels. The rooms were cleaned well but not stocked well. We loved the location but would try another resort.

Barcelo Ixtapa: Good resort

Overall clean resort with friendly staff. They do need to work on the sushi bar. It was not a good experience. I liked that they would exchange dollars (either US or Canadian) into pesos at a competitive rate.

Barcelo Huatulco: Good resort!

Pros: good hotel, great location, good rooms, good food, good facilities. Cons: kids club not active when supposed to, not good entertainment for kids in the evening, kids pool slides close 6 pm. Sometimes only one of the two buffet restaurants is open for dinner. Waiters are not really taking care of clients so they deserve a tip.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Excellent resort for 4 Star

Hotel has good service and very good food, special reservation dinner like spanish dinner was excellent, only no Internet WI-FI service include package, you need buy daily pass. Overall really good hotel.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Fabulous Resort!!

Barcelo Bavaro Beach (adults Only) was a beautiful resort with stunning views. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional. The resort itself was very clean, new, and beautiful. The food was great and the restaurants were diverse. If you are not one to lay in the sun all day long, the activities available were great (yoga on the beach, volleyball, aerobics, games) and the staff that ran these activities were so friendly and fun. It was nice to be in the adults only section because it  [... read more]was quieter, more private and we had our own entertainment at night (circus show, magic shows, dancing shows, etc). We found the only cons being the WIFI ($, poor service) and smoking (allowed in many areas). Otherwise, it was such a fabulous experience and I would highly recommend it and I would return!

Occidental Caribe: barcelo punta cana dominica

The resort was the perfect size everything close by. Pools beautiful with entertainment going on most of day. If you want a quiet pool theres one of them too. Also this resort is right on the beautiful ocean. There was some seaweed which was cleaned up. Food in buffet ok but in a la cartes very good. Snack bars around pool good also. One day no hot water for shower but was promply fixed

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Fantastico!!!! Loved it.

The Barcelona has tons to offer, amazing beaches, plenty to do, the a la carts were great and the buffets were excellent. The only warning it's a long drive from airport but when you get there it's worth it

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Punta Cana -Good Times.

Resort is above average. Staff is great! Rooms...clean but low water pressure. Grounds very well kept and maintained. Food was better than expected. Buffets were good buffets. (lots of selection) Ala Carts...some were very good/some very bad. No Canadian Whiskey on site. (bummer but not a deal breaker). Beach issues with seaweed rolling in. Out of the resort's control but they worked hard daily to clean it up. Pools were a great alternative. Felt safe and comfortable to whole time.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Second visit

This was our second visit to Barcelo Resort, we will likely go there again next year as it has everything we require. Food choices, service and entertainment . The new mall and new restaurants were exellent. A great addition to what they already had.
