Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great Resort

The resort is beautiful, the food is great...al la cartes great... cleaning all the time, public bathrooms spotless. The beach was red flagged every day so didnt spend much time there but it was beautiful. Pool was amazing though. Had a great time :-)

Paradise Playa Dorada: Grand Paradise Playa Dorada Resort Review

The food was amazing. Service was ok could have been better. Rooms were always cleaned and restocked with pop and water. Pool was always busy have to get up early to reserve chairs especially if you want an umbrella. Overall the resort was excellent and it's only a short 15-20 minute drive from the airport. Would definitely go back and would recommend this resort to individuals who like smaller resorts.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Had a great time!

This RIU is a bit dated but boy was it clean! Not only the rooms but the premises and the landscaping were immaculate. We enjoyed the food and they had a bbq on the beach on our second day. Having one swim up bar which is actually really large, helped everyone to get together each day and meet new people.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice Small Resort

Clean Rooms and grounds. Lots of choices at the Buffet. We didn't make it to the Gourmet Restaurant apparently you have to be in the line up early. Disco wasn't very busy but we had fun. Pool was clean and large. Hard to find a chair in the shade and it was very hot. We spent our days at the Beach and could always find chairs and move them to the shade. Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Be Live Collection Marien Puerto Plata, Dominican

Great time! Lots of activities through the day, was my daughters first trip and she loved it! View was amazing! Staff was great! Buffet was a great selection however some items were not as hot as they could be. Rooms were very clean! Would recommend for sure!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Would'nt go back to this resort!

Traveled from March 1-7 Pros: The resort overall was clean No complaint's about the food Cons: The airport bus to the resort was run down Resort staff speak little to no English & to me if you are going to be working where tourists vacation this is a must! They are also very rude if you don't trip them Staff cannot be fully trusted as we had a few items of clothing stolen out of our room. Not enough variety when it comes to nightly entertainment Rooms have apparently been renovated but haven't.. [... read more]...they bought some new TV's & painted that's it. The location of this resort is an hour or more away from the airport so therefore you would need to pay for transportation to go anywhere!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Not for MOBILITY impaired

If you have Mobility problems this is not the resort for you. When you arrive at Lobby you have to go down stairs to get to bar area and pools. Then more stairs to go down to buffet then more stairs to get to room. They also have pathways that all have an incline. Food Ok no problems and lots of choices. Lots of lounge chairs around pools and close to a bar. Beach VERY weedy and not very suitable to go in. Toilets are a big problem as most do not flush away waste. Had to keep calling for a plumb [... read more]er to clear toilets. Remember you are on Dominican time when you are there and pace is very slow. Rooms comfortable but very old furniture.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Very enjoyable time

We stayed for one week, food was varied and very good as were the pools and beach. The only drawback was there was Free WIFI for 60 minutes a day.. but you could only use it in one session.. awkward.. there was also expensive WIFI available.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful disappointment

Short and sweet.....beautiful stunning resort...awesome variety of pools and food....but we both got food poisoning as did many others we spoke too. I would still recommend this place...just do not eat the meat or make sure it is FULLY cooked (the food was delicious!) Staff was super helpful and nice as well.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: great time!

The hotel itself is a little outdated, but other than that the Riu Bachata had great entertainment every night, the staff are very friendly and helpful.The food was good! We would recommend this hotel to others.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: There are lots of resorts out there better

We arrived on a Friday morning and check in was uneventful. Our rooms were #535 and 534 in the A building and they were older rooms but clean. We paid for a superior ocean view room and did get a room with both a pool and an ocean view which was nice. We did have a fridge in our room which we were pleased with as we brought yogurt up to have as a snack from the breakfast buffet. There was a bottle of vodka and a bottle of rum brought up to our room the first day which was very nice but after the [... read more] first day we didn't receive reloaded beverages in our fridge such as water or pop. The water bottles we refilled ourselves at the buffet everyday. Our air conditioning did not work on the first day and it took 3 visits from a hotel staff and 3 days to get it working again. Also we could smell cigarette smoke coming through our vents from who knows where which was very irritating since we cant stand the smell of smokers smoke. The buffet was mediocre at best. At meal time we rarely had a server come to ask us what we wanted for drinks. They only showed up to take our plates at the end but seldom spoke a word to us. We went to reserve the a la carte restaurants early on Saturday morning which was day 2 of our week and were told that there was only room on Thursday for any reservations, so we reserved at the Italian. It was ok but we really noticed that they seem to pawn off a lot of tomato soup type sauce off as tomato sauce. Anyway the biggest problem I found at this resort was the staff 9with the occasional exception) is not friendly compared to anywhere in Cuba. They also speak very limited english. They all seem much more interested in each other (staff members) than in the tourists. Many times while taking our order or answering any questions they were busy smiling or motioning to each other which is very rude and wont get you much of a tip. Weve been to Cuba the last 12 years and thought we would try Dominican Republic for a change but we are set to go back to Cuba now. It also didn;t help that the first 4 days of our week were cloudy and rainy. The beach we were warned of being not for poor swimmers was very wavy. It was red flag from day one until day 5. I found the grounds, though pretty, was very compressed. Maybe that's because it is right in the centre of town. Oh and also there was no internet all week. It was broken. So we went to the ice cream place down the road to use the internet. We paid 1045 each for it and we felt we paid a bit too much. I would have liked to pay about 800 all in for a place such as this.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Beautiful resort.

The Iberostar was a wonderful place to spend two weeks. The grounds were outstanding, clean and very picturesque. The pool was so huge that it never felt crowded. The variety of food was unending and very good. The entertainment staff added a variety of activities making it fun for everyone.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: excellent resort.

this has been the second time I have been to this resort and plan on going back again. rooms are clean pool and swim up bar are very well taken care of as well as very good and friendly service. entertainment was amazing and the fire and pool shows are very entertaining. beach and beach bar are clean and freindly. the food is very good on all levels from buffet to lunch at the beach bar to the steaks house and Chinese dinners..but I have to say that the fun games and entertainers make u feel lik [... read more]e family and none stop laughs and fun..hats off to the blue resort and everyone you works there to make travelers happy and having fun...can't wait to go back.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Amazing resort!

Very nice resort, clean, attentive staff. One issue with the safe in the room but was resolved fast. Lots of activities, shows every night. Easily accessible for multiple excursions. Quiet rooms, especially if further from the reception area.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Felt like home!

My husband & myself felt at home at this resort. Very clean and the food was excellent! Only down fall was in the main lobby we kept getting approached to buy a Bahia time share. Lots of activities. Beach was nice & kept clean. Staff was very helpful and attentive. Cant wait to go back!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Management needs work

Visited this resort a couple years ago and it was amazing. Recommended it to friends and 8 of us went down. so disappointed. Took them 4 days to fix our air conditioning, toilet kept clogging and our key would not work in our door. Servers, bartenders, maid and entertainment staff are what saved our trip.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Never Again

Rooms dirty. Roof units for AC turned off each night at 7:00. I am an HVAC tech and know this for a fact. Red wine was undrinkable. Waiting staff inattentive. Stayed for 3 days in this hole and then moved to Puerto Plata Hotel Gran Ventana. While checking out Casa Marina front staff tried to claim there was a large phone charge for the room and demanded money.When confronted with our cellphones they promptly backed down. Our cousins room had cockroaches in the sink and a permanently faulty toile [... read more]t. It became so bad that I was willing to forfeit the 2 week vacation and return home rather then spend another miserable night. Fortunately Air Canada representative upgraded us to the Gran Ventana Hotel in Puerto Plata for a reasonable fee.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Over rated

I struggled to rate this place mainly due to how nice the people were. If not for them I would have rated it lower. The food was just OK, the grounds were clean and nicely decorated. The animation people tried as hard as they could as did the waiters and bartenders. We did not see a shortage of loungers at the pool or the beach. We were given room 5211, which surprisingly was a 3rd floor room. We paid extra money for an oceanfront room which turned out to be a total waste of $300. We could only  [... read more]see a sliver of ocean between a forest of palm trees. The room was small, dark and not very nicely decorated. This was our 13th different resort in the carribean and Mexico and for the money I would rate this one in the bottom half. If this is what most Iberostars are like then I would prefer the Riu chain. We have stayed at 5 of them and were never disappointed.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Gran ventana

Where to start. We were looking to party if that's what your looking for don't go to Puerto Plata. The staff REALLY needs to learn the English language I struggled a lot. The food was so so .. as good as it can get for the Dominican I guess was anxious to get home to home cooked meals I was sick on day 6. CLEAN and very well maintained. Children sitting at swim up bar wasn't good in our opinion. Many Excursions offered were too far away and quite pricey for Canadians. The shows were excellent. The staff were amazing!!
