Occidental Costa Cancun: Best ever

Nice clean modern rooms. All the staff were friendly and beyond curtious. The food was the best. Unbelievable variety. Will be back next year. We had taxi and buses right outside resort. Lots of thinks to do and a nearby river lagoon walkway park. Also nightly entertainment was fun yet things got quiet at 11th so made for a good nights sleep.

Occidental Caribe: OK trip!

The exterior of the hotel is really nice! The rooms look like they are very well used! We had several issues with the room e.g. our safe didn't lock; the toilet seat was broken; the trash can in the bathroom was broken; the lock on the sliding veranda doors was broken; the water in the rooms wasn't potable; and the air conditioner leaked in the ceiling making the dropped ceiling stringers all rusty and leaking on the floor every day; Staff did come to fix most of the issues soon after they were  [... read more]reported (sometimes it took several tries). Many of the front desk staff hardly speak a word of English (or French) and had attitude issues when dealing with the clientele. Most of the other hotel workers were very nice and although they didn't speak much English at least tried to help. We both had stomach issues almost the whole 9 days we were there. We stopped drinking the water in the restaurants after a few days and stopped eating salads for the last three. We've been home for 4 days now and we're still suffering from queasy stomachs. Unfortunately while we were there, we had rain (sometimes a lot!) for 6 days and it was mostly cloudy on the other days (just bad luck I guess, not a hotel problem). Oh yes and then there was the wind that brought up tons of seaweed onto the beaches for the last 4 days. So much that they couldn't be kept clean!

Occidental Tucancun: Nice Resort

The hotel is small and easy to navigate and the staff are friendly. There are people always cleaning and doing maintenance.Buffets are not that exciting but adequate. The beach is nice and hotel is right on the hotel zone. Rooms were clean and beds wee comfortable.

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Nice vacation at Barcelo Dominican Beach

Hi to every one! My wife and I just returned from Barceló Dominican Beach, Punta Cana D.R. It’s a nice resort. Thanks to the management. Apparently they hire good people and train them well. First of all we really appreciate the security – no intruders on the property. No beggars, no beach vendors, more over – even no Vacation Club agents. Thank you gentlemen again. That was a nice stay. Our room was Honey Moon Ocean Front suite – no comments. Just a few things: clean, the beach and the [... read more] beach bar just under our balcony, Jacuzzi with the ocean view indeed and a nice maid service. Dominga Brito was one of them. She was and I believe still is very good. The garden crew is good. The beach and swimming pool are nice and carefully groomed. Even though a night storm once left the garden crew a lot of work to remove the sea weeds washed up on the beach that night. But the guys did it. The bar crew is amazing and very friendly. Santa, Claudio, Brilon, Enso Luis are very good and apparently the youngest of them Alexander is a really hard working boy probably he will become a manager at some time in the future ‘cause as his colleges he knows already how to work properly. There is another guy and a very good one but unfortunately I can’t tell his name. Sorry. Speaking about the bars we’ll never forget Ricardo from the Lobby bar. He is a professional. But Ricardo please tell your co-worker (don’t know his name) when one asks for a glass of Napoleon the bartender should not offer any ice. Now a few words about Barle Café that my wife and I highly recommend. To our eyes we used to get there the best dessert after our dinners. Ask Anibelis and Bethania for Carribiano coffee it is not only tasty but the way they cook it is a little and exciting entertainment! Food in general is very good to our eyes. The only remark in our opinion deserves perhaps only the egg station. For example my breakfast consists only from eggs, some cheese and a bit of cooked ham nothing else. That’s why I am especially anxious to the way my eggs cooked. If I ask for three eggs sunny side up the egg specialist may not piled them onto my plate anyhow as the yolks must not be ruined this way by his negligence. If it easy over the yolks must not be tremendously overcooked! It is important! A real professional (and a consumer) may cry seeing that. Though it’s a trifle the rest is perfect. The staff is very friendly. Our special thanks to Anna Maria – main buffet, to senior Daniel Barga from the grill bar at the beach that gentleman perfectly took care of us even late after the midnight. There are some a la carte restaurants. We regret not visiting a Spanish one that was our own fault. But we enjoyed Mexican and Brazilian a lot. The snack bar at the beach completely satisfied our lunch needs. What not to like? The night’s entertainment are beautiful. The animation crew are hardworking guys even though we didn’t take part in it but yet it is always fun to watch other people dancing on the beach or doing some other activities. We had a nice socializing with many people from the States, Canada, Switzerland, France, Germany and some East European countries (my wife and I we do speak languages). That was a pleasure as well. It was a nice stay (our fourth time in D.R. and number 11 on Caribbean in total) my wife and I will recommend this resort to our friends and our fellow tourist in general. Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: Great Resort Hotel

After the hurricane ravaged the towns of Cabo SanLucas and San Jose del Cabo....we were hesitant to book a trip there. However, we did and were quite surprised by the condition of the Barceló Resort. They had done a remarkable job in the repairs of the building itself. The grounds were in excellent shape . The beach had changed shape somewhat , but was still a pleasure to relax on. The food , the staff the whole big picture was fantastic. . Don't hesitate to book there.

Barcelo Solymar: very nice resort

I have been to this Hotel many times but this time it was no good. oh the service was very good and clean but the maintenance was very poor. every second Day there was no hot Water, the Pool bar the Boards were full of holes you had to watch were you walked there was many more. I was there 2 years ago and it was not like that. But we had a good time.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: WAS AN OK RESORT

My wife and I we pleased with the Barceló. We don't really do a lot of travelling but found it to be clean and the beach was amazing . The food was just ok and the room was good and always cleaned . Air Transat was awesome

Occidental Caribe: Beautiful Beach and Resort

Grounds, beach and building were visually beautiful. Some updating or retrofitting is required in the rooms. This resort has been around for quite a while and is generally well maintained. I was impressed with the fact that small maintenance issues were dealt with immediately.

Barcelo Solymar: Disappointed

This resort is showing its age. We stayed there Jan 23-30, 2015. I would rate it a 3 star, not 4. We were in the "nicer" bungalow room. The furnishings were spartan. It had 3 double beds with cheap firm mattresses, no comfortable chairs, a 20" CRT television with no remote (complained at the front desk but no remote was delivered). Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Very Nice Resort

This resort was well kept and pleasantly staffed, the food was very good and the specialty restaraunts were excellent. If you like to eat then come here. the beach sand is nice and the water has some good spots to swim but there is lots of sea weed in the water. Theres No Beach Grill so you have to get covered up if your hungry. This resort is very clean and surounded by a beautiful golf course. The food selection is without a doubt excellent at the Buffets. the main pools are a little loud and  [... read more]there is an adult pool if you want more quiet but you hear the helicopters and boats all day long. the cigar loung is the only venue which has the specialty coffee's like Spanish or Irish but for some reason they only open at 4:00pm and you have to put up with smokers. This should be moved right next door where there is No Smoking and it's open much longer during the day. No bar in the Main Lobby so everyone hangs out in or in front of the sports bar. it's not a very social place because of this. I liked this Vacation very much but I'm not really sure if I would go back.

Occidental Tamarindo: Fantastic Beach!

Loved our week stay at the Barcelo Langosta in January. The staff are outstanding and looked after us very well. Friendly and nice people. Loved the small size of the resort and proximity to the most amazing beach I have ever seen. Not another hotel in site which we loved. Surfers and their dogs kept us entertained daily. Buffet was great. My only complaint would be the quality of the red wine. Not very good.

Occidental Caribe: Good value for the money

young couple travelling together looking for some sun, a beautiful beach, decent food and some fun things to do in the evening. This was just that. Had everything we wanted and needed. No complaints other than the odd night there was no hot water for showering. But you're on vacation, sit back and relax and enjoy the experience

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing vacation!!

The hotel itself was very clean and spacious, staff was friendly and professional. The food surpassed my expectations, far better than any other all inclusive I have been to! Beach was a little rocky, but we knew that before we went....

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Amazing all inclusive Experience!

Great time! The resort is well kept, food is safe, great rooms, happy staff, great drinks and wonderful all day long entertainment!!! Also the beach is very clean making for great swimming! I have no complaints.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: very good , not amazing

very clean resort, rooms were standard with friendly staff, there were no rooms with two queen beds so my son slept on a sofa bed, food was good but you must eat at the different restaurants on site not just the buffets, recommend the kyoto japanese food, pool bar and beach were great

Barcelo Maya Colonial: amazing resort BUT

We were for 11 nights. The first 7 were great in every aspect and then we became aware that there was going to be a convention. 2000 people showed up and service tanked. Staff was refocused from service for all and completely focused on the convention. Oon one day we were refused dining indoors and restricted to outside restaurants. Cold food and selection was a whole lot less. If you want to get the service you paid for, this is not the resort for you. They appear to want the commercial busine [... read more]ss only. ALL the people we came in contact with on our return were of the same mind. The tour operator was caught off guard and did not know about the events until the convention started. The resort avoided the tour operators requests for responses and they may be dropping the resort from their list of choices.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great trip, great weather, disappointing room

We enjoyed a great trip last week on the Barcelo Colonial resort. We enjoyed the food, the pools, the drinks, the beach was beautiful and the weather was perfect. Our biggest complaint was the room and service to the room during our stay. We were originally given a room with two double beds, even though we had booked a king bed. 2 days after our arrival they switched our room after our strong persistence, but our new room was in a wing surrounded by families and small children (it felt like the [... read more] "family wing" of the hotel). We were woken up all night long by screaming children because the walls are so thin. I had to buy earplugs just to sleep through the night. Our room also had a broken shampoo dispenser that didn't get replaced for 4 days (despite daily complaint), we were missing regular room amenities (ashtray for balcony, robes, etc). When we walked in, there was a blood stain on the pillow on the bed which we promptly removed. Despite enjoying our trip, this resort definitely didn't live up to the 5star rating we signed up for.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: rundown

resort staff was rude food was bland rooms were rundown in my opinion far too many stairs for handicapped guests as all food was up or down stairs including buffet which had groundfloor access but was always locked even when requested to use locals run the place on weekends

Occidental Tamarindo: Great small resort.

The grounds were really nice, saw some monkeys at night fall. The buffet food so good ate there all the time never went to the a la carte (mediterranean).Staff friendly and helpful.The beach was nice, lots of sand and some lava rocks to explore.The resort offers surfing right on the beach.Other surfers do come to use the beach so it can get a little crowded ,still nice to watch them all.You can walk to Tamarindo on the beach or the road in about 15 min (2 km). Nice surf town and safe in the day.
