Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

The Bachata was great. The rooms were clean, the food was fantastic. The pool is huge. There are always chairs but you have to get them early in the morning. The beach is ok. You will have to wear water shoes, there is coral reef on the beach.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Horrible Vacation

This is the worst vacation that I have ever had. Have been to Puerto Plata 6 times, and never experienced anything like this before. From the flight delays, to the hotel, to the service, the rooms, and the overall resort, it was a disaster.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Be Live Collection Marien excellent all way!

The people at the resort are very nice! rooms are cleaned with beautiful flowers everyday on our bed, the food is great and very tasty as well. The beaches are very cleaned. This was my fathers first trip ever! and he enjoyed himself the whole time. Never rained once, but was prepared just in case..The hotel grounds are very clean and the maintenance crew always doing something to make sure the areas are cleaned. No complaint at all. Highly recommend this hotel!

Riu Merengue: Very Relaxing Resort

The grounds at the Riu Merengue were Beautiful and well groomed.I loved all the wide cobblestone walkways to and from the dining and living areas,so easy to walk on and most were shaded.There was a Great variety of foods for all meals and dining areas were very tidy and wonderful ambiance.I liked the idea that we could dine at the Riu Bachata for lunch which we did on a couple of occasions ,just a short walking distance away.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Good resort

Rooms were perfect, nice big pool, a la carte restaurant were very good, buffet needs a bit more variety but good! Very nice staff and the activity team were very fun and outgoing! Had problems with patio lock and within 15 minutrd they came to fix it!!!!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great starter resort!

This was the first all-inclusive resort my girlfriend and I have been to. It was great. We were worried after booking and reading the reviews but we had nothing to worry about. We booked a standard room, although it was falling apart (the dresser door was loose, cracks in the bathtub calking, and a broken ceiling fan control), it wasn't enough to turn us off from having a good time. We were a good 7-10 minute walk away from the beach however we were a step away from eveything else - most notably the pearl. We The food was delicious, and we didn't get sick. Freddy, our Transat advisor made it easy for us to book excursions, and the resort had enough evening and daytime activities to keep us busy if we felt like we needed to do something. I could go on but ill leave it at this: This is definitely a 4-star resort if you have a vip membership as you have access to more beach space and golf cart access, 3.5 otherwise. Keep in mind, there were enough VIPs around the public areas so I cant imagine the experience being any different. Oh and seriously, about the time share tour complaints... We were able to put our feet down and say no (which wasnt hard), but on our way home we heard a few people complain about losing 5 hours on their first day. Trips are what you make it!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Very happy with my 1st Iberostar experience

Overall I enjoyed our stay. We were there from Feb 12 to 19, 2016. Very impressed with Iberostar as a resort destination. I will definitely pick an Iberostar resort for future bookings. The only complaint is that the Dominican Republic continues to sink lower in my choice of islands to visit. The water is not potable. The resort is very safe but we were warned about venturing off the resort. The resort is extremely clean, but once you are off the resort it is quite depressing to see all the garb [... read more]age. Food, pool, beach, staff were all very good. The nighttime entertainment is not that great unless you really enjoy watching another Michael Jackson impersonation. A piano bar would be a great addition!

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Never Disappointed

This was our 3rd time to Casa Marina Reef and as the title says "Never Disappointed " if you are looking for a 5 star this is not for you. We are not fussy people and I would say this is a 3 star plus.. There was always something to eat and not once did we get sick. You cannot drink the water..but are given 2 bottles in your room upon arrival. . After that you fill up at the filtered water stations.. You will also get a bottle of Brugal Rum and a bottle of Vodka in your room as well as a bottle  [... read more]of coke and sprite. . The maid kept our room spotless.. yes they are dated but served our purpose.. we slept and showered there .. rest of the time was spent by the water of in one of the 3 cool pools that overlooked the ocean. We could sit and relax and we're able to watch the many planes that took off from Puerta Plata. The grounds are kept in pristine condition as well as the pools.. Would I go back ? In a heartbeat. As a matter of fact we are hoping to return in 2017. Hola

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Relaxing and beautiful.

This is an older resort but still lovely. This was my third year in a row to this resort and I plan on going back. My room was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. I am not a picky eater and not having to cook for a week, everything was wonderful. The beach is great too. I found all employees at the resort very pleasant, any I encountered always said hello with a smile. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back!

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESORT!

Has been sold to new owner no longer Celuisma. Rooms horrible, moved 3 times. First room was dirty and musty. Second room no lock, no fridge, bathroom taps leaked and no phone. Food worse than Cuba by far. My opinion shared by most guests. Staff made it tolerable. Loved the cleaning staff.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Pretty good for the price.

The general manager does an amazing job of creating a soothing atmosphere amidst all the chaos that made my vacation peaceful. The servers, cleaners and entertainment love their jobs and made it very obvious that they wouldn't want to be any where else. So clean, comfortable and accommodating. It was Independence Day while I was there and the parades and entertainment were superior for the area. The head chef is talented and obviously caters to everyone's needs. So many choices and wonderful fla [... read more]vours. The pool bar and pool entertainment kept me from being bored, but it wasn't over the top so you could relax and not feel interrupted. The a la carte restaurants were all well managed and the choices offered were well executed. I stayed there once before and wasn't sure I wanted to come back, but now I am sure I will go back. The new Managment has done an incredible job at turning this comfortablely spaced out resort into a gem. my overall rating of this resort is a 5, very pleased and satisfied for the money spent. Riu Merengue: Wonderful Resort!

I loved the time spent at this resort.Everything from the food to the amenities to the grounds were top notch. The only downside was that there were never enough chairs at the pool side,the beds were hard ( like all resorts I have been to) and the lobby at our resort(the Village Merengue) was nothing special and needed updating. Otherwise,we would definitely go back and might stay at the Bachata.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: no wow for me!!!

This experience did not wow me at all. Suite was very dated air conditioning was broken. Resort was too spread out. Too many sales pitches all day. Overall not impressed at all. Very disappointed with our stay

Riu Merengue: Old and run down

This resort is in dire need of a complete overhaul. Our room was always clean and done so in a timely manner. That being said it was overrun by cockroaches and mosquitos. The furniture was falling apart right in our hands. None of the drawers would work and were falling apart in our hands. The shower head was falling off the wall . There were no toiletries in the room. We couldn't even get a Kleenex. The air conditioner was more like a humidifier than an A/C unit. We have never had such poor qua [... read more]lity food in all our travels to the Caribbean including Cuba. The lowest quality and the same every meal. Smoking is a huge problem for the majority of guest who come from North America as the Europeans smoke everywhere including nonsmoking areas. One day we watched a waiter serve a guest several times in a nonsmoking area and do nothing until we called him over and complained. The beach was riddled with cigarette butts and never cleaned up. The ala Cart restaurants are not bad if you don't mind getting up at 6:30 to line up for a reservation. This is the last timeI will stay at a RIU resort.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Another Fabulous Vacation

This was our 3rd time to Casa Marina Reef and once again we were not disappointed. It is not a 5 star but the.. rooms.. grounds. . pools .. are kept very clean..We have never gotten sick.. the food is good we have never gone hungry.. I even emailed them and asked for the same room I had last year and they were able to accommodate us..Would I go back? in a heat beat. .hoping to return in 2017..

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great vacation

Loved the resort! Very clean and well looked after the staff are very friendly and polite with makes the stay more enjoyable. The buffet food and the three restaurant were very good with lots of variety each day. The Japanese restaurant was a fun night interacting with other guest from around the world. We will return next year.

I was very surprised at the resorts maintenance and cleanliness. For the price we paid, I was expecting far less. Medium sized resort which made it easy to find people and re-acquaint yourself with people you met the day before. Quiet relatively speaking. No spring breakers, no overly rowdy drunks which in my experience has been a staple at an all inclusive. The food was very good complete with three nights of amazing lobster! Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Good hotel! Friendly service!

hotel room was clean. Toilet clogged a few times. Friendly staff. Beach was great except for constant vendors selling their wares. Food was good. went on 3 excursions bought from vendor on beach & had no difficulties. weather was super-very hot.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: O.K Resort

The ride from the airport was a little rough, the bus was something different we could barely get on it was so narrow. The resort was nice, grounds well kept. I found the staff not overly friendly, except for Alex in Mediterranean Restaurant very nice person and very entertaining. I would not recommend Dolce Vita Italian Restaurant The buffet part was O.K but the stuff we ordered was awful. Our room was nice and kept clean. The water pressure is very low. All in all it was O.K for the price we p [... read more]aid. At the Buffet there were a lot of choices of different food so you wont go hungry. They had a few of excursions but very pricy.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great stay

We attended this resort February 19 - 26, 2016. This met our expectations and more. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Always had hot water no matter the time of day. We had free wifi in the hotspots all over the resort. Don't expect to swim in the ocean much. Lots of waves and was red flagged 6 out of the 7 days for us. The food was a little repetitive but could always find something to eat. I would recommend this place. One thing I would recommend is a 24 hour bar and snack bar.
