Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Okay resort

Resort is huge! Nothing is close by. The grounds are well kept and clean. Wish they would spend time taking care of the rooms as they do the grounds. The buffet offered a variety of foods, which was good. But everything was very salty. The ala carte restaurants was good, except Terrace. Not recommended! Staff at the resort needs to be given some training in being friendly and inviting. Found the staff preferred not to speak English and pretended they could not understand what was being said. Roo [... read more]ms in the family section if the resort is less desirable. The toilets do not flush, the water in the face sink does not drain, the stand up shower gets flooded while showering. There are not enough towels in the rooms and housekeeping cleans only what the eye can see. Our washroom mirror had stains all over and was never cleaned. My headboard was made of rattan and was filled with dust. The linens was not being changed so I had to leave a note for housekeeping to change it. The fridge in the room is a waste if time, it was not keeping anything cold. The pool is ok but do not expect pool towels. Be careful using the cups at the pool. The bar people basically dipped the cups in water and called rhat washing it. I got "washed" cups with lipstick stains. We went 2 days without pool towels and was skeptical to use our room towels because we were not sure if we'll get new ones. The beach is awful. Full with seaweed. No one day we could've use the beach. Be very careful of the West Jet tour guide for Saona Island. We took this tour and he actually took off leaving 8 people on the beach. Just by chance someone saw him with some of the people leaving we had to hurriedly gather our stuff and run to catch up with him. In the weekend the resort is taken over by the locals, who got preferred treatment. Was there anything good i can say about this resort.....the grounds were well kept. This vacation I was counting the days I had to leave and get back home.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful Resort

We enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach. The resort is beautiful, well kept and very clean. We loved that there were tons of areas to sit in and lounge in throughout the resort as well as around the pool and on the beach. The food was fantastic especially the Chez Gourmet restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a few times we needed to call the front desk for things and the response time was very quick. Our only area for improvement would be giving guests more infor [... read more]mation at check-in. We weren't oriented to the resort, which restaurants we could eat in, how to book the a la cartes, no resort maps, etc., we were really left to figure it out on our own. Guest services did not know how we could find the Air Transat rep, it took us 3 days to try to get the info by finally going next door to Guest Services at The Palace where they were more helpful. None of that is a deal breaker at all, just an area of improvement. We would definitely return.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Good resort!

Very well kept. Rooms clean. Food pretty good. Wish there was better entertainment specifically at the Ambar complex and a better variety of music throughout the day st the pool and in the evenings in the lobby. Butler service was excellent. Thank you Wady!

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Good food, friendly staff.

We would definitely return. The staff were very friendly. The resort was very clean. We enjoyed all of the a la carte restaurants. The fact that bookings aren't required was a bonus. We really liked the coffee cafe with the delicious sweets, sandwiches and fruit. The gardens were so very well groomed. Excellent resort all in all. Thanks for the great week.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Hotel Nightmare

This hotel rooms needs revamping and the staff needs training on how to accommodate the guest. Upper management needs to be more responsible for handling the staff working under their leadership. We did a day trip via the West Jet agent and they forgot to tell us they were leaving. Thank God one of the girls noticed and ran for about 10 mins to catch up with the guide to let him know we’re were coming. We don’t pick money from a tree we work dam hard. There were so many issues with the rooms for members in our party. Towels were limited, leaks and clogged shower and toilet. Being Locked out of your room the safe won’t open it was just to frustrating

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Very clean

First off I would like to say this was a very nice resort. Our start was not great as we had to wait an extra 45 minutes for a group of 17 from our flight that never showed up (apparently they had their own transportation which should have been communicated to our driver). Once at resort it took another hour for us to check in (not priority check in if you ask me). Resort was very nice and grounds were impeccable. We had a swim up suite which is more jump in as there is no direct access from the [... read more] room to pool. You would have to go to one end of pool or the other. Beach was nice but because of the time of year quiet rough. The hotel should update the website because it promises things we did not get like turn down service, booze in the room ( we did get 1 bottle of rum and a champagne), aromatherapy pillows etc....However, our butler David was very good making our dinner reservations, setting up a romantic jacuzzi with rose petals etc....for us. We couldn't ask for a better butler! Now the food was a little disappointing except for our lunches at the beach buffet and our morning breakfast at the Gourmet restaurant. Their salmon toast and crepes were so tasty. As for cleaning, very little was done except garbage taken out and bed made. Toilet paper role wasn't put in all week which made me wonder if toilets were even cleaned. Sounds like I'm complaining but I'm just stating what we got for our money. In all, we enjoyed being away and the weather but would not go back.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: It was meh

Room smelled moldy, food was disgusting and tasteless. The restaurant are worse, service was slow. The steak house was a joke. The resort itself is not too bad! If you enjoy food, this isn’t the resort for you. However if you enjoy tasteless seasoning free food. You will love this place. Makes me wonder if all these positive reviews are fake.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Family Vacation

I will start by saying the staff was amazing. Any complaints were met and resolved. The grounds were very clean. And I would have to say, this is one of the better beaches I have ever been to. That being said, the room fridge was never cold. Some of the lights worked in the room - very dark at night. There was almost no water pressure and one night we only had cold water. I have a smaller child and I did find it disturbing to see the lifeguards on phones. Overall, very good trip and I would go back again, but request room in the 26 villa complex.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Punta Cana

Catalonia Bravo resort is not what I expected. Would like to get back my money. Poor service and room was deplorable. Bathroom area too small. Had to beg for them to change towels. Door key would not work. Keep having to go to front desk to get another 😒

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: NOT an amazing hotel

The rooms were very poor furniture damaged. AC leaking water all day. Safe rusty and not working. Shower flooding drain not clearing water. Tub large duty stain. Did not use it. There was a large crab like bug in closet. I was stressed and fustrated .It took 1.15 mins for someone to come. I used a tiwel at the door to block and bugs.They egnored me when I asked to be move. Food good. I would like my money back or a % of it

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Dated resort rooms need upgrading

Worst vacation ever, shout out to Kenia, very pleasant hostess, made you feel welcome with her smile and warm hug. Ask for 2 beds, got a king size and a cot. When my sister ask for another bed, associate at check in said none was available , but it's ok because he can fit on the cot. Beach towels was a no show if you got there after 11am. Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana: Trip to the Sun

Overall the trip was good. Went for rest and relaxation. Did not go for the entertainment. Had an excellent week for weather. Food quality in some locations were excellent , some were only good. The only downfall was the music by the pool was too loud. Place was very clean overall.

Secrets Royal Beach: Amazing staff

The staff were amazing! They were always positive, polite and accommodating! The quiet pool was perfect to relax. The shows were entertaining. The rooms were very nice. The buffet always had a great variety. The beach was disappointing because of the sea grass, and mud. I was hoping for a clear clean ocean to swim in but would not dare go in this ocean.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Small but great!

Great resort. We paid for Diamond Club and loved the extras...close rooms, premium drinks, special beach area, special beach bar and the surf and turf night on the beach - all wonderful. The resort was not full which made it wonderful for sitting around the pool - no fighting for chairs in the morning. The food and drinks were out of this world. My husband and I don't like Indian cuisine, but tried the Tandoori restaurant and it was fabulous! We rented a cabana with hot tub on the last day  [... read more]and it was the only day that had a few speckles of rain, so it was a wonderful treat. The foam party was fun and everyone was respectful and had a great time. I heard people taking poorly about the food, but I completely disagree. It was great in the al-la-carte restaurants (Sushi, Italian, Steak and Indian). The buffet was very small and limited, but it was a smaller resort, so it was to be expected. The food was fresh and well prepared. i would say housekeeping was a little lack when it came to extra towels, turn-down service and recognizing our special occasion. However, I think that was just our particular person as our kids had amazing housekeeping and they were over the top. The entertainment was Caribbean style and not the best, but we didn't expect anything different. It was still fun and people had a great time. No complaints.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Amazing - best ever all inclusive

My family had a lot of demands for our vacation and Shae Dureault recommended this resort and it did not disappoint. Amazing food, pools, activities, gym, entertainment and the lazy river was icing on the top.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Family resort

Nice hotel, nestled in a private area, well layed out with a beautiful landscape and grounds were well kept. Wonderful beach. Our room was nice and spacious. The public area seems lack of ventilation as it was muggy. The food was not the greatest but was ok. A la carte service was no better and the food was cold. Most of the Staff were very friendly.

Punta Cana Princess: Resort was immaculately maintained

The staff NEED to be better at basic English as service persons, some were quite intolerant of non-Spanish speaking guests, perceived a difference in the way CAUCASIAN and others were served/interactions Your menu items needs some serious improvements!!! Information sharing as to daily events, restaurants offerings has to be worked on

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Beautiful Resort! BUT...

Everything was fantastic, the views, the service, the rooms The only 2 negatives are: 1) we were there the 2 last weeks of september and what this resort do is they open to the Dominican people from Friday to Sunday! it cost them 200.00 US for the weekend. A lot of peoples and their family comes in! the pool is full!!! the Bar is full!!! the buffet restaurant is full and they eat everything in site! so if you are not there at the opening of the buffet there's no place to sit and hardly any  [... read more]food left!!! Luckily for the evening meals they are not allowed to go the the " A La Carte Restaurant" PHEW!!! 2) the beach of the hotel is very small you cannot take long walks and also just at the end it is open to the public so they come into our side, the vendors come in too (discretely) but are still there to bother the people. So that's not great because they are very insistant. we heard also that this resort will become a "non all inclusive" starting next year. So I think with point 1 & 2 and the non "all Inclusive" that there will be less people that will go there that's for sure! Next time that we go to Samana we will go to Grand EL Portillo because we like Samana but before I book I will inquire if in the fall the Dominicans are allowed to go to that resort too for the weekend!

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Beautiful and Relaxing

Our Agent Natasha Spencer did an amazing job making the arrangements for trip. We got exactly what we asked for.. 2 bedroom junior suite close to beach and pools. It was conveniently arranged so that at checkout- you can go straight to airport and catch flight. The resort was well kept and beautiful. Staff were friendly and helpful even though they had difficulty with English. The rooms were a little dated and could be cleaner but it was good. Lots of great food to select from and local [... read more] drinks. There was entertainment for the entire family every night which was awesome. Sadly, it was sad to see the large amounts of food wastage in the Buffet area from guest especially when surrounding areas of resort has visible poverty. It was a pleasant first time experience.

Ocean Blue and Sand: We will be back!

We had an absolutely fabulous time here! This was my second time first time during covid and I'm glad I came back. Staff are amazing, food was great so much to do we actually firhot to do an excursion. Great value for the money.
