Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Certainly not a 5 *.....

My mother and I stayed at the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar from January 26 to Feb 2, 2018 and we were both very very disappointed!!! The hotel is definitely not a 5* by any standards. They advertised International drinks but didn't have any of the drink either of us drink here at home. No good vodka, no Bailey's and none of the regular shooter type drinks we are accustomed to at home. They didn't even have frozen drinks such as Pina Coladas! Not only did they not have beverages that w [... read more]ould entice us to stay at the bars etc... any time we were at the 24 hour restaurant, they lacked half the food mentioned on the menu!!! No fries, No poutine, no pizza, no chicken wings....all things they clearly state are available 24 hours a day!! Our room service was provided by Lydia, who was sweet and friendly however, she missed doing our room on 2 days??? We would come back in the early evening only to find that nothing had been done :( As well, the service anywhere on the resort is SOOOOO SLOW!!!!!!! i understand this is Cuba and things are a bit more relaxed... I can handle that but when you are standing at a bar for over 20 minutes and the staff have not even glanced in your direction yet...it gets pretty frustrating..... I could go on and on about the lack of seating throughout the resort, the lack of beds by the pool, the bad service, the untidy washrooms etc... but i think most travelers are getting the idea. I would never go back there nor would i ever suggest this resort to anyone!!!! Stay away unless you want to be frustrated and ignored!!

Paradisus Varadero: Stay at 'Family Concierge' if you are going to this Resort!

We stayed in the "Family Concierge" section of this hotel which is newer and very clean. We talked to several people that upgraded to this section because of complaints about rooms, cleanliness and broken fixtures at Paradisus. The restaurants on this side were also much better. The food was fresh and the restaurants were modern and the service was excellent. On the days we chose to eat at The Paradisus side we always came back hungry and disappointed and ended up at our buffet. The poolside sn [... read more]ack bar at "Family Concierge' had the best calamari and chicken wings for "happy hour" snacking and the wait staff and bar staff were friendly and attentive. The butler service on the beach was also a plus. Jose was great!! I travelled with my young son and it was his birthday while we were there. Well!!!! Our concierge Arlene went above and beyond! They threw him a party with cake and a clown and all the kids joined in. It was amazing. The kids clubhouse and the pools were outstanding. There was always activities to keep my son entertained and happy! It was well worth the extra money to stay here. We are planning to return here with a large group, all with small children, in April!!

Melia Las Americas: Great golf trip

Hotel, beach, food, service, golf course.....everything was great. They could use some more staff at the bars to reduce wait times. REAL Coca-Cola would improve the quality of drinks as mix and get rid of the additional fees for premium liquors.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort

What a well kept and layed out resort! The staff is very friendly and attentive. We also liked the daily entertainment. The performers were amazing! The piano bar, however, should start having an actual piano player much sooner.

Melia Las Dunas: Food

Buffet is always the same everyday no bacon in the breakfast and everything is cold and at the pool bar drinks are to small they are juste a little bigger than a shooter glass and the bus ride is to far from the airport.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Great resort

I was surprise to see the resort in very good condition, the work they did in 5 months after the hurricane Irma was amazing. The food was good, the room dated but very clean, the staff where very friendly. Jorge the air transat rep. was excellent he very helpful when an accident happen to my sister. I will go back because of the staff .

Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful beach

I found the staff very conscientious and happy. The rooms were quite nice and kept very clean. As per usual the beach was beautiful and the pools very clean. My disappointment was with the food. It wasn’t that there was a lack of variety but that it was poorly prepared. To see so much food being thrown away because of lack of knowledge in the proper preparation was sad. The smoked salmon and fresh papaya at breakfast was also very nice. They have a different way of checking in which went really fast for everyone. When you get off the bus you leave your luggage and go into a big room, then they take your passports to verify. They call your name to come and pick up your package with keys etc. And you are shuttled to your room all very quickly. Over all I would go back. It would be nice if they took a few lessons from Jamie Oliver’s five ingredient meals😜😜😜

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Resort

Overall I would recommend this resort: Room - great, spacious, clean, good beds Food - probably some of the best yet in Cuba, especially the ala carte restaurants Facilities - pool was lovely; beach was too windy for me (but not the fault of the resort!); Bars were plentiful Staff - restaurant staff couldn't have been better; same with the bar staff; room staff didn't clean the room until after 5:00 which was problematic for us and they ran short of towels so didn't always change them (eve [... read more]n when they were on the floor being used to clean up water - yuck.

Melia Jardines del Rey: ups and downs and a few tips

This review is my opinion only....getting our keys on arrival was a breeze and our room was already done (depending on your arrival time ) I had asked for a closer unit as for my mobility and they honoured it with the first unit near the lobby...the complex is fairly large Our room was great and cleaned nicely everyday ( shower only no tub )Replenishing the fridge was a constant hassle ( Dear MANAGER there are many reviews with this problem can you not fix it ? ) after a few nights we just didn' [... read more]t bother with it anymore.Since we upgraded we had our beach towels in the room and there is a problem with exchanging them as they run out quickly. The chair game is always there so you need to play it.The food is up and down line ups are huge (TIP ) breakfast go upon opening lunch and supper go at least a half an hour later to avoid the rush i found that cooking stations are the best bet .Pool are good no complaints The beach ( Wow ) walk right 1/4 mile and your in heaven we loved it when it was not windy but unfortunately we had a terrible week weather wise Bring bug spray as the mosquitos are out dusk and dawn like the vampires ;-) and for you ladies wear covering clothes as they are aggressive I found drinks are better made in the little alcove bar with the lights around it The entertainment is good and the staff is great didn't have any problems . Money changing is no problem There is a small market there or you can take a trolley to a small mall for goods.I bought all mine at the airport Overall i would rate this hotel a 3.9 Would i go back Maybe

Overall service was very good 3/4 specialty restaurants were excellent- both food & service Italian Restaurant food was poor Evening live musicians were superb Breakfast keyboard musician was excellent

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort

Grounds were lush. Plenty of chairs and lots of spaces in shade. Enjoyed buffet and all Alacartes Lovely tiled upgraded bathroom. Comfy bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. I look forward to going back.

Hotel Vigia: We had fun!!

Service, PEOPLE, entertainment and food were great..A PLUS!!!..very relaxing place to stay.. BUT the toilet in our room...the toilet seat was really old, ur not sure if it will be clogged if u had disposal ..UGHHH..until now it gives me goosebumps...if that toilet will only be changed .that is really a good place to stay...there were also minor bad stuffs in our room, probably from the shake of past hurricane..unattached electrical wirings, one sway to an overhead lamp will make it fall on ou [... read more]r heads, (we we're really careful and moved spots to avoid it), clothing rod in the closet was broken...not complaining to those but just the toilet!!!really other than that...were great!!! Rooms dirty not very clean also the bedsheets and the blankets are dirty with bad smell, food not that good i just ate salad, pool and beach amazing, excellent activities and night show, friendly and helpful staff.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great resort

This hotel was very clean. The food was above fine. The staff were all very kind and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. We had a week in January and our trip was fun and relaxing.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Pretty good resort

Our second trip. The things most liked are the beach and the walk in pool. My wife needs a walker, so my wife needs easy access to all amenities. The room (704) is very poor, broken furniture, and the bathroom is very poor, chipped bath and all. The beds were ok.All rooms should have a walk in shower, my wife could no climb into the bath. The most horrible thing was the stagnant water by the walkway to the resteraunt. Melia Jardines del Rey: Great resort

This hotel offers a variety of activities for all ages , great lobby , lots of music and talented musicians, pools for all ages, beautiful beach, the buffet seemed repetitive but I could always find something to eat. Lots of walking but there is carts available if you want to ride,staff very nice, they work very hard to please people. Melia Jardines del Rey: Would not recommend

The first day we didn’t have towels. Anytime we wanted a bottle of water we had to ask 2-3 times, they said they would send the water to our room but it never came. The pool was very dirty. The last day our maid stole my apple headphones, and after spending most of our last morning in customer service they did nothing about it. I left the resort with over 30 mosquito bites. Melia Las Antillas: Nice time!!!

The hotel itself is one of the oldest, but it’s kept in good running condition. Love the stuff people are so nice and helpful!!! The food in the buffet could have been a lot warmer but it was plentiful. Beach is beautiful!!! One thing I can say Cuba got the most amazing beaches!!!! Overall had a very nice time!!!!

Melia Varadero: Beautiful resort

I suppose some 20 years ago it would have been a five star resort. It is well maintained, but the furniture is getting old and squeaky, the wind blows around the window frame, etc. On the plus side, beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The buffet restaurant has a good variety of foods. I would recommend the International a la carte restaurant. Try the swimming with the dolphins in the ocean experience. You can snorkel right off the beach, it’s very nice. We will come back!

Melia Marina Varadero: Very nice resort

The hotel was very clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Great beach food was very good a little repetitive.Great pools and grounds to go walking.Entertainment needs to be improved big time. Great little shops and restaurants close by.The restaurants in the hotel are very nice but the portions are very small if you like to eat go to the buffet first. Over all we had a very nice time and I would recommend this resort.
