Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Paradise

Golden Tulip Aguas Clara's Resort is one that is great for singles, or families. The view of beautiful beaches along with two pools ( child and adult) was a great way to relax. The staff were very friendly, fluent in many languages and entertained on a daily basis for all ages. There were amenities unique to this resort such as a childcare are where they had staff to watch your children, as well as child shows after supper before the entertainment came for the adults. Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast and dinner needs more variety for kids. All 3 Alla carte restaurant were amazing food and kids choices were available The pool and kids activities were amazing and definitely family friendly

Melia Las Dunas: Wonderful Resort

I definitely would visit this resort again. Our room was clean and the fridge stocked daily. I was satisfied with the food and drink options as well as having a small market on the resort. We did have a day without hot water which was fixed by the evening. I must say the Sunwing reps on the resort were very friendly and helpful. Loved our stay!

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Pleasantly Surprised

Before finalizing our trip, we asked the trip central agent and did a lot of research online. We adjusted our expectations because it is Cuba that we were traveling to. Check in was easy and fast however the first room we got had a moldy smell and it was dirty and the phone did not work. The door to our room looked like someone had broken into it. We requested to be moved rooms the same night. Front desk immediately assisted us and had the staff help us move into a different room. We again lowered our expectations just based on this experience and decided to make the best of the rest of the trip. The next day was a totally different experience, Food was amazing, everything in the buffet area was clean, hardly any flies buzzing around while you eat. It looked like someone was inspecting the food stations before they open and during lunch and dinner time. The beach is Amazing, it was breathtaking and any bad experience prior was completely forgotten. Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful Resort!

Loved this resort. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The resort was beautifully laid out with palm trees and lights lighting them up at night. At first it seems huge but it is quite easy to find your way around with all of the maps to help you. The beach is beautiful and not crowded with turquoise water and white sand. The buffet was good as well. You can get fresh cooked fish/seafood and beef/pork and chicken every lunch and dinner. We were there March break and I did not find the line ups bad at all they went quick. The pool area is large but you have to get up by 8 am to get a chair under an umbrella. There were plenty of beach towels and no line ups at the bar. Our maids were very friendly and did a great job with our room. My only complaint was the lack of water in the rooms. Two teenagers and an adult need more than one bottle of water as all three of us drink a lot of water. Yes, you could get it at the bar if you had a water bottle but you had to time it right to get there and save your bottle of water for the next morning as they did not deliver water until the next evening and they skipped us two days. If you are not there to answer the door you don't get water. This stressed me out a bit as you cannot drink the water or brush your teeth without water. When I went to guest services they took down my room number but nothing happened. The only other thing was the lack of toilet paper in the bathrooms. They give you two small rolls in the room and my son had a bad cold so we went through it and that is a bit stressful not having toilet paper. The lobby bathrooms were always out by evening. Just two complaints. Otherwise it is a beautiful resort and the Pizzeria with fresh made pizza and the ice cream parlour almost made up for lack of water. :)

Memories Paraiso: Great Beach!

Good value for the price. Great staff and lots to do! Catamaran excursion one of the best I've been on. Ocean view room did not disappoint. Long drive from airport was made pleasant because of scenery and commentary.

Memories Paraiso: Will not book again

Beautiful beach.... well worth the drive. Drinks are great and food ok but very repetitive. As for the resort, it needs some serious renovations. Plumbing is awful, public bathrooms are over flooded, some without toilet seats. Mostly only one or 2 stalls only working. Pool is great for kids, but entertainment during the day lacks. Definitely recommended the catamaran and dolphins excursion. I would return to cayo Santa Maria but would select a different resort.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Great time

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. fim beach for swimming and exploring. Good food for Cuba. Always fresh fruit. Modern rooms. Staff could be more welcoming and there is some issues with maintenance but we would return for a good price.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: NEVER AGAIN!

This was a trip from HELL!!! No water for 6 days had to share a bed, Sunwing rep was horrible and enjoyed putting his hand up in your face because you wanted answers to everything. The entertainment staff could not get the crowd involved with activities. I will give some of the staff were absolutely amazing!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Family Vacay

We just returned from the Playa Cayo Santa Maria on March 18th and we loved it! We were a family of 8,ages 75-4 years old and everyone had a great vacation. Rooms are spacious,we had joining rooms which worked out great for everyone.There are 4 different pool areas to choose from for your liking from a quiet pool area to a entertaining,music playing pool where we hung out! This was our 4th time to Cayo Santa Maria and first stay at this resort but would definitely go back and would recommend this resort! A GREAT OVERALL STAY!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Would not go back

5-star rating should not be taken literally in this case (not an isolated problem in Cuba or some other countries). Front desk staff were useless and disinterested in solving any problems. These are supposed to be your 'go to' staff and they could not be bothered. Occasionally very good service, but overall adequate to poor (e.g., one day one of the beds was made with no sheets or pillow cases ... who does that?!? ... no toilet paper and 2 towels left for a family of 4). Beds are TINY(2 adults [... read more] in a double is not 5 star). Food in Cuba is problematic and has not improved. Even access to snacks for kids is lacking, so to have to BYO snacks to a 5 star all inclusive is ridiculous. Grounds need some TLC in many areas. 'Nature walk' was being used as an outdoor bathroom by staff it seems. Natural beach and pool areas are only redeeming assets this resort has. Never again.

Memories Paraiso: The beach was perfect!

Except the canalization problem and because of that daily water regime, everything else was great! The food, the service the area everything was excellent.Probably i would recommend more musical events during the night!

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Great resort

Food was great. Beach was beautiful. Staff was great. Pools are beautiful. Rooms were modern and clean. The main lobby was awsome with great nightly entertainment and lots of places to sit and have great variety of drinks

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Very good resort

This is my first time in Cuba. The resort was very good. Staff were very nice. What I liked the most is that everyday, the lady who cleaned my room was using towels to do a different design, I would be waiting everyday to see what design she will make.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: not recommended

Casa del mar is not suitable and I would encourage not recommend it. The lights in the room didn’t work, not because the bulbs were burned out, but because there were no bulbs. The food was poor; the wait staff seemed to feel we were a nuisance. The whole place is under repair and construction. There are active pits in the ground with “do not cross” tape around them. Imagine sitting for a quiet dinner beside a construction pit. The whole area between the room buildings and the beach [... read more] is like a parking lot – a big wide open sand area with a few dead trees. I think this area will be phase B eventually with more rooms when they are built. The vegetation throughout the complex is dead or absent. Worst is the huge noise. The Latin music from the one speaker on the beach was so loud I could not hear to talk on the phone in my room with the balcony door shut. I think there is a fundamental management problem here. We got a cab and toured other resorts and chose another resort after a day and a night.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Construction Zone!

Having been to Cuba several times before, I was really looking forward to this resort - supposedly new and with "better food". However, it was a disappointment right off the hop. Everywhere I looked it seemed something was broken - I went to the pool and the lounge chair had a big hole in it and right next to it was a pile of cement rubble.We ate at a table that overlooked a giant construction hole with pilons and rocks strewn about. The most striking thing for me was the fact that there was n [... read more]o landscaping or gardening it seemed. The beach music was so loud we could hear it in our room and could not block it out even with the door closed. Between our room and the beach was a large wide stretch of deserted land with no plants or anything but hot dry earth. Luckily we were able to move to another hotel (at a cost to us) and ended up at a much better location.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Short Review

Nice resort, large comfortable rooms, good food, friendly people. Traveled in March break – resort was full but there was always enough chairs and room in buffet. Stayed in building 18. All building s are the same. FOOD: Buffet food is very good for Cuban resort. Freshly made pasta, sea food and pizza stations are excellent. Beef and pork station meat is hard (avoid). A la carte restaurants are good with exception of sea food restaurant (food was bad there). Buffet is the best choice. 24 hrs  [... read more]pool bar serves decent food as well (ham sandwiches are best) but choice changes depending on time of the day. ROOMS: Large and comfortable with all necessities provided. LOBBY: Large, comfortable sofas, excellent coffee bar. INTERNET: Not reliable but inexpensive (1.5 CUC per hr). Rarely works. PHONE SERVICE: Canadian networks (KOODO and BELL) worked very well. Buy prepaid package if you can, otherwise it is expensive (KOODO $ 2.5 per minute and $0.65 per text. Data charge is ridiculous. Bell was even more). SWIMMING POOL: There are two same size pools. Pool between building 1 and 9 has all the activities. Other pool between building 10 and 18 is quite. BEACH: There is high and low tide. At high tide there is no beach but typically it lasts only ½ day. You may need to go to beach in the morning or afternoon depending on tides. Beach on side closer to the market (right side of resort) has no rocks. There are always free chairs everywhere but afternoon less busy. MONEY EXCHANGE: Rate in hotel is almost the same as in the bank (70 CUC for 100 CAD at the resort or 71 CUC for 100 CAD at the bank located in small shopping complex next to the resort). Tips can be given in any currency (CUC, CAD, USD, EURO). GIFTS: If you have used clothes, shoes take it and give to staff – remember landscape workers. Unwanted old cell phones are also well received (if they are unlocked). DUTY FREE: Limited to cigars and Rum.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing Resort!!

We had a wonderful vacation here. The Resort was very clean and up to date. The beach was amazing. The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful blue/turquoise color of the water. The water and the sand were very clean. There were lots of chairs at the pool and the beach. We had no trouble finding a spot to sit even when we went out at 12:00 noon. Trying the food from the grill at the beach is a must. It was amazing. At the buffet, the food was very good. There was lots of choic [... read more]e. The workers at the resort aimed to please. No complaints there either. We would come back.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Outstanding Staff and Resort

This was our very first family vacation together. The food was amazing, if they didn't have it they would get it for you. We did the catamaran tour which I highly recommend, it is good for children and adults.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: The Personal Touch and amazing trip

Check in was efficient and courteous. We upgraded to a suite. It was well worth the extra $$. So spacious with 2 bathrooms (one of which was amazing, the other was a powder room), a large living room and a large bedroom. The suite had lots of storage room and was great although we were hardly every there. It also had a beautiful ocean view and amazing balcony. The bar staff was great. Marbey, Jaiky, Julio and Roberto were great. Enjoyed having lunch with an entertainer when my step-daughter was busy. It was very nice to have company when otherwise, I would have been eating alone. The pool was excellent. The beach has a nice gradual incline but needs further cleaning. Overall this trip was definitely a 5. Highly recommended to anyone.
