Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great holiday and resort!

This was our first time to the Dominican Republic and weren't sure what it would be like. We were really impressed with this resort! We travelled with our baby, and they had a really good crib for us, and the grounds were very accessible for the stroller (ask for a ground-level room as there are no elevators). The hotel had large grounds which were very well maintained and beautiful to walk around. The food was really good, and they had a few days of cooking paella or bbq on the beach, which were delicious. The a la carte restaurants were also worth the visit. Overall, we were all very impressed with this hotel for the price!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Outstanding Resort

Overall Experience was amazing!! My Daughter end up hurting herself but the trip was never compromised. The level of care and excellent service continued and exceeded our expectations. I will be back!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Excellent

The hotel was very nice, food was very good and staff where exceptional. Since the hotel is isolated it takes a little longer to go on excursions. But if you are only interested in relaxing on the beach or poolside this is your place.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great vacation!!

It was my husband and I first time in Dominican. We really enjoyed the hot sun and the resort. We almost did get caught with a very pushy time share staff. He was very persistent and even tried to play the pity card. Other than that it was a very pleasant vacation!! We will return!!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great resort!

Hotel/grounds are clean & comfortable, pool is fun and staff is great. You can't go wrong with this chain. The great thing about the San Juan location is the hotel is smaller and more intimate. Other Bahia Principe locations can be too big.

Everything was great except there was one step that came from the buffet to the pool bar that should be ramped up. Not only myself but several other people during the 7 days that we were there either fell or almost fell. Something really needs to done about this. But overall I would recommend this resort. Great food and great service!!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

Hotel , grounds were amazingly clean, food was great. Only issue was our bar fridge leaked and wouldn't keep things cold. Was never fixed , complained desk first night, and also would have liked it better stocked, no rum and only 2 beer per day for the two of us

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Nice and relaxing

The property overall was ok. Upsides were the spa pool area, hammocks, decent beach, the food was ok. Downsides lobby bar not free, only one room key allowed, the constant vendors on the beach, no free WiFi (convenient for staying in touch with kids). We did meet some great people and that made it more enjoyable.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: good for money and weather in February

Clean, nice grounds, pools, beach is bad, but pools make up for it. Good food. Customer service is abominable. AirTransat representative was dismissive and condescending and lied that we can not check in for return flight on line, because on destination it is before 72 hours (was not true at all - I did checked in on line between 24 hours before flight).

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Amazing Resort

My husband and I loved our stay at the Casa Marina, All the staff on hand were extremely friendly, the resort was well kept. The food was wonderful. The only thing that we would recommend is that when we arrive as we had a two hour wait for our room is that the agent that is down there to go through things at that time while we wait instead of the following morning.

We've been to a number of Iberostar resorts in Mexico and had been very happy with them, so we thought we'd try this one in Dominican Republic. Our teen aged kids had an attached room to ours, both were clean and comfortable. The fridges were restocked every day. And the kids loved the free wifi!! We did have an issue with our upstairs neighbour one evening and eventually had to call the Reception desk and ask to have someone go out and speak to her. The buffet was good but we found it predictable by the end of our week there. And it seemed that there was never enough tables at the buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner! (I know, time of year, get over it!) With that said, we always tried to sit in Bonny's section at the buffet. No matter how busy he was or the time of day, he always had a terrific smile for us. The beach was nice, as was the pool... but unless you were out before 7:30, you weren't getting a chair!! We are not early risers, so we found this challenging at best most days. There is some seaweed on the beach, but we didn't think it was a really big deal. We didn't take in much of the entertainment, but what we saw was pretty good. I would recommend this hotel - Just at another time of year. Perhaps the weather would cooperate a little more (we had about 4 days of on and off rain) and it wouldn't be so tricky to find seats at the beach, pool or buffet.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Run down

The staff are friendly,very good and energetic. BUT. This place needs a complete renovation. Cracked shower base, leaking roof during rain, chipped and broken tile around pools. The list goes on. Food is ok. Blue Bay hotels should be embarrassed.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful resort!!!

The resort and hotel and lobby were all so well kept!! The grounds were always being kept clean. The staff was so pleasant and very friendly! The restaurants and buffet was good and always very clean and fresh

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Had lots of fun!

The grounds are beautiful....the staff work so hard! The bartenders are great. The beach is huge.....be careful in the water, it has rocky parts and you can cut your feet. We spent time at the Bachata and Merenge...Diaz a bartender at the Merenge is wonderful and Rayo Back in animation is so good at his job! The beds are hard! Rooms were cleaned well and had towels everyday! the cooks work so hard...omelettes, waffles,pancakes,French toast...so yummy for breakfast. Paradise Playa Dorada: Great Experience,Great Resort!!!

Great resort, great food with plenty of variety for everyone ,friendly staff ,towards the end of the week they were different but overall nive people. I didnt like that you had to rent yourvsafe for $28. I also didnt like that one day i didnt put up my clean room sign and they went in abd cleaned it anyways . The public washrooms could have been a little cleaner ,the smell was disgusting but overall great experience!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Best of Puerto Plata

Our return visit for two weeks in February was overall much the same as previous years, pool chairs were mostly unavailable due to early morning chair reserving with towels etc. This is a common practice at many hotels and difficult to stop. The rooms were always clean, food always the best and varied that we have ever experienced. The devaluation of the Canadian dollar may have an affect on us returning next year.

Just returned - Feb 12-19th - great resort, long beautiful beach - not white sand but still great - perfect for walking, great food, clean, amazing staff - there are bugs so bring your own spray though the resort does spray in the evenings - amazing time

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Nice Resort, however too far from airport

The staff was always so friendly, food is great. Resort was pretty clean, the grounds could use a little more pizzazz, it all looks the same. Rafael was our favorite. Always coming over to our table even though he may have not been our waiter. Unfortunately the downfall of the trip was the hour and forty minute bus ride back and forth to the hotel and airport, something in which my travel agent should have informed us about. Lots of things to do, the beach is gorgeous.

Riu Merengue: RIU Merengue

Nice small report, grounds were well kept, nice beach. Food was okay, ice cream tasted like it had cough syrup in it though, but other than that the food was decent. Pool area fills up quick in the morning, the WIFI is limited and signal isn't strong.

Great value, for what you are getting. Lots of activities and amenities to keep you busy all day and the service was very good. It's definitely a more family oriented resort and was mostly pretty quiet at night. You never saw anyone get out of hand and the bars on the resort were pretty tame. The beach is nice enough to lounge on, but don't expect to go swimming for long periods because the water is a bit rough and the lots of areas have rocks and seaweed.
