Sonesta Maho Beach: Great Mid Tier Resort

Sonesta Maho Beach Resort is an great mid-tier resort, for those who are looking for the luxury resort feel with butler service, room service, bathrobes, slippers, turn down service this is not the resort for you, that is offered at the Ocean Point Adulst Only Selection. The resort was reopend to Guest that fly book with Sunwing as the Tour Opeartor in Mid March. We stayed from April 25 - May 2. Currently as Sonesta Maho is in the final stages of completing the top floor rooms and the gard [... read more]en side balconies along with a few other back end areas, lobby cafe and new lobby bar (there is a lobby bar on site). They are opening the 3rd elevator for guests and will be opening the staff elevator soon. The resort is on the smaller side and no wait service on the beach and limited at the pool, but none of the bars are that far away so staying hydrated is not an issue. Rooms are spacious and everthing is brand new as was rebuilt due to being hit by a hurricaine in 2017. Dining - They have closing days/alterante days for Jings and Ascot pub and when the Beach BBQ is on the Buffet at Ocean Terrace and Plams Grill is closed. The Napoli pizza bar located on the Ocean Terrace Outside dining is still open during the BBQ as well as the Point, Jings or Ascot Pub. This is supposed to change once they have fully opened all rooms and common areas. Beach was amazing and water was the picture perfect turquoise that we always see on TV. The resort beach is connected to the public beach that is at the start of the airport runway so you can see all the planes land and take off. After awhile you do not notice the planes anymore coming and going. This resort will only get better everyday as we could see it with the additional beach and pool chairs arriving when we there. New Furniture for the Lobby Lounge areas. Staff was courteous and pleasant and if you needed assistance were able to help solve any issues you may have had with the resources they had available. Only negatives I have is that their should be a 24 hour Restaurant open for drinks and food as there are times in the late afternoon when everything is closed for food. I am hoping that does change when they are fully opeartional. I would go back again if the price is right. Tripcentral.ca start working on a new deal to send us back!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Breathtaking views

Overall, the resort was amazing! For the most part the staff were friendly and accommodating even though the speed of the service at the bars were fairly slow. With regards to cleanliness I have no complaints. The food overall was fantastic even though the selection was limited. The pizza was amazing!!! Getting a seat by the pool was a challenge at times; however, we had a large group and really only needed a couple of chairs because we were in the pool most of the time. Given this resort ha [... read more]s just re-opened after having to be completely rebuilt because of the hurricane I am extremely impressed with the accommodations and service. I look forward to hopefully being able to return in the future. Overall, a unforgettable experience!!!!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: amazing place

nothing bad about this place food was very good, always some thing to eat even for picky people. will not fly air Canada again. 2 hrs just to get your boarding pass to leave the island. made it through customs with 15 min. to spare. to close.

Plaza Beach Resort Bonaire: Great Trip Bonaire!

We spent April 7-21 at the Plaza Beach Resort in Bonaire. We had and ocean view suite and it was a great room - spacious, clean and with air conditioning that worked. The resort is being refreshed, as was evident from the painting and other work being done. The snorkeling off the beach was amazing, we were in the water every day. Some nights there was a D.J. or live music, which was nice, but it is definitely not a party resort, which was fine with us. We didn’t have any complaints about the  [... read more]service at the bar or in the restaurant. Sometimes, it was a bit busy and we had to wait a few minutes, but no big deal. The buffet in the restaurant was good, there was always something tasty to eat. We would have preferred less meat and more fish, but they have to cater to all tastes. It would be nice if they were able to offer more yoga classes at the yoga centre located just outside the resort, or offer some classes as part of the resort package. We really enjoyed our time at the Plaza and will be returning next year.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Sunscape Curacao Resort

We were at this resort about 10 years ago when it was called Breezes. They have renovated since then and modernized. Overall I would rate this location as a 3. The resort facilities are good and the beach chairs are numerous. The 4 restaurants are good but service is slow. Our main issue is with the service. When we checked in and reviewed the room we had no shampoo and hand towels and face cloths. Some of this didn't get resolved till two days later. Also, the shower is lukewarm and that [... read more] was never addressed. The toilet is 3" off the wall and the toilet paper is behind you (poor design). Housekeeping was a consistent issue with items being forgotten to be replaced. The property is very large with lots of beach and water shoes are recommended due to coral.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: A good resort

Excellent modern resort well maintained and perfect size The food was good, but not over the top... The buffet was pretty much the same for every meal, somewhat uninspiring if you ask me. The rooms are modern and new with little to no noise.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great for weather, snorkelling, location and value

Curacao is a perfect location for reliable weather. It’s hot, but there is a nice breeze that tempers the heat. Sunscape has the best “from the beach” snorkelling that we’ve encountered so far (better than Akumal, Mexico). Lots to do at this resort and it’s a quick 15 minutes from the lovely and safe city of Willemstadt. We hope to go back for another visit!

Sandals Royal Curacao: upscale resort catering to golf and relaxing at the pool/beach

Enjoyable week stay, room clean and updated with comfy beds. Food was excellent, at all three restaurants including gourmet meals served at The Shore restaurant (reservation required). Staff friendly. The biggest disappointment, there was NO entertainment every night. Except for a bonfire one night and beach dinner with band another. Expensive to take van/taxi to Willemstad, approximately 10 km away. It cost $200.00 for 10 of us for a van with driver (6 hours in Willemstad) . Sonesta Maho Beach: Room for improvement

Our stay at the Sonesta Maho Resort was not 100% satisfactory. Although this resort is brand new, construction and work noise is still being done at the resort from 7:00am - 9:00pm which is not a problem if your not in your room. The walls are paper thin, we could hear the conversations from the room next to us. Not all lights in our room were in working order. The room overall was very nice. Loved the shower! Not sure how this was possible unless your staff but someone had opened our doo [... read more]r one night around 1:30am while we were sleeping only to have had it stopped by the chain we had put on it? The pool bar and beach bar staff need to be trained to acknowledge vacationers that have been waiting for drinks first before accommodating only the ones that yell out or wave money in order to be served before others that have already been waiting for awhile to be served. The wait time was ridiculous several times because of this to the point where you felt invisible! The kiosk to book restaurant reservations is a joke. We had booked a reservation at Jings one night to find out it was closed, so therefore went to to Ascots. The food there was terrible. Another night we had booked the Ocean Point. We had called the front desk to find out the dress code. The front desk had told us it was closed due to a wedding, we decided to go anyways to find out that we did have reservations and no wedding? The staff really have no clue what’s going on! Our meal at the point was very good. No complaints on the food at the buffet either. Elevator very slow and only one working the day of our departure. I’d give this resort another year before it’s truly a 4 star

Sonesta Maho Beach: Will be a great place

Hotel isn't completely done yet. Part of 7th floor and all above floors were being worked on 4-11 Apr. Workers go until 9pm so be prepared for noise until then. Staff for the most part were really good. Food was above average and will probably get better.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Excellent Location, Decent Food, Nice Size

The location near Willemstad was perfect and the snorkelling at the hotel beach was excellent. The food was average, but they had very good vegetarian options. Rooms could use updating but are clean and comfortable. The resort is a nice size, enough activity and choice to keep things interesting, but not too big. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great resort for a free and easy vacation.

This resort was terrific and exceeded my expectations. Upon arrival, greeted with cold cloths and cold punch. Efficient check-in. Guest rooms were large and so was the balcony. Very clean inside and out. Layout of property easy to navigate. Many activities to be involved in or not. Easy to get to town or aquarium. Staff were exceptionally wonderful - smiles all the time and eager to please. Norma at the pool bar is a standout along with Prince T of activities. We would certainly return here for  [... read more]another visit and bring more family with us. Travel with WestJet was good and connecting transfers great - on time.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Beautiful Beach

Beach was incredible and weather was gorgeous. After reading reviews we were worried about food and service. Both ended up being great. Japanese and Steak Restaurant were delicious and service was friendly. Resort grounds and suites were very clean. A big Thank you to Karol Chareza for recommending this resort!!

Plaza Beach Resort Bonaire: Peaceful

Best place for divers and for people who enjoy the water. We enjoyed the room. We were on the second floor with beach view. The sunsets and the scenery of the turquoise water was breathtaking. The diving and snorkelling on site was like swimming in a aquarium. So many colourful fish . So far the best place to see so many different species of fish only meters from the shore. A good variety of food. Rooms were clean. The staff at Toucan diving were excellent especially Chantal. It's obvious she [... read more] enjoys her job. She was very knowledgeable and caring. She looked after her divers. The travel centre was very helpful and efficient. At times the service at the bar or restaurant was very slow. Bartenders were talking laughing or serving one drink at a time and not multi-tasking. At the restaurant they did come by often and at times would forget our order and we had to get up and go to the bar to serve ourselves. However we really enjoyed Roger !! He was always very pleasant, smiling and very efficient. He was quick and ensured the bar was always cleared off . He tended to his guests in a efficient matter. He made us feel important ! Thank-you Roger!!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Nice Resort

Enjoyed the stay very much. Our room was in the Tower and close to pool, beach, restaurants and all daily and nightly entertainment which was quite convenient. The private beach is amazing and the pool area is right on the beach which makes it a great view even when sitting around the pool.

Sonesta Maho Beach: 5 Star Resort!!!

We have stayed at the Sonesta Maho before in 2014, we heard about the devastation that happened recently by the hurricane and how the resort is reopening fully renovated and what an amazing job they have done! the rooms are super hi-end and modern more like a 6 star!, yes work is still been done on the resort but you barley hear it, the staff is amazing trying to please everybody threw this process. WE will be back next year! ..2 thumbs up for the staff and management!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Terrible experience

This hotel was not completed when we arrived. From the food to the rooms they were extremely disappointing. The hotel was not safe for guests and they often didn't have enough food for everyone I am do disappointed that Sunwing would ever have approved this hotel and I'm very confused by this decision.

Sonesta Maho Beach: will be great...but need improvement

I loved the area but hotel itself wasn't ready to open. The room, the ground, the beach were beautiful, but the food was very limited and cold and they were still building the hotel so half finished it was disappointing but im sure it will very nice in few months once they are done building it.

Sandals Royal Curacao: Amazing holiday!

This resort is exceptional, with a yummy assortment of food all plates and served with flare. We went with a group of ten and were always accommodated and able to be together. The beach bbq, boat ride to Klein and walking tour through town are all recommended. The spa service was exceptional and the golf the best we’ve seen.

Hilton Curacao: Beautiful resort.

Food was great and staff very friendly. Pool and beach area fantastic. Wonderful views and scenery all around the resort. Great variety of equipment in the gym as well. Snorkelling was amazing at the resort. Hotel could use nightly entertainment to further promote the culture of Curacao and entertain guests. Non motorised activities should also be included for guests to use. So many positives.
