Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Just ok!

Just got back from an all girls trip, had tons of fun!! However, the company was what made it fun. Beach was terrible as it was full of rocks and seaweed ( not the resorts fault) Pools need a some maintenace. The drinks were fantastic but unfortunately that is where fantastic ends. Nightlife was ho-hum as was the food! Spa was good. Thankfully we didn’t pay a lot to go the week we went so all in all we got good value for our dollar!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Nice place to kick back and relax or not. Lots of choices!

Great grounds, Food was excellent! The staff went above and beyond. Great place to recharge. We really ourselves and everything that was offered. The spa was fantastic! Great place to spend a day don't pass this up!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Not bad for the money

This resort is small which is ok but definitely needs updating around the pool and the rooms do smell mustie. The buffet is very difficult to maneuver around. The tables are way too close and people were getting bumped into when you try and get up to the good. Animation was excellent with us and seemed to want to get people involved in their activities. The reception staff was excellent and responded to problems very quickly trying to help you out. Oh then they would come running when we were done and getting tips out. Gotta laugh!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Beautiful Resort

Would definitely go back. Great amenities! On the negative, I do t like how they constantly try to go to a time share presentation. All we wanted was to secure our transportation back to the airport but they made it seem like you had to partake in the presentation in order to do so. I do understand this is a way a lot of resorts do things. All in all, a great place & would go back!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Care and Service - Over the Top !!!

So a little story about this Resort, This morning at the beginning of our day, I was slipping into the pool when it felt like something bit me. As I looked down in the water I saw a cloud and knew it was blood. After getting out of the water I pulled a piece of tile from my big toe and the blood came gushing. With a towel on my foot keeping pressure on the wound, a fella passed by and laughed as he thought I had spilled a Strawberry Daquiri. Yep there was a lot of blood. One of the poolside b [... read more]artenders saw a commotion and realized what had happened and summoned security and our building's concierge. First aid treatment was applied by security and a paramedic from Nova Scotia, (Sarah Kingsbury, he knows you and said you transported him to or from a hospital at his time of need). I was returned to my room to await the resort doctor. The resort doctor arrived took vitals and inspected the cut and said I would require stitches. Now here is where this story gets interesting.... When we arrived at the main lobby, accompanied by the doctor and the concierge, I was informed that the resort would cover all medical bills, prescriptions and the Taxi, which was instructed to wait for us in the parking lot until our time of return. (4 hours later). At the hospital not only was I seen by a doctor but was referred to the Plastic Surgeon, and he proceeded to clean the wound and stitch me up. 3 in number. We returned to the resort with all taken care of. This level of care and service will definitely keep us coming back to this resort. As this is Kelly and my second time here it will NOT be our last. It sucked to get my foot cut open in the pool but accidents do happen from time to time. At least it was me and not a young child. Kelly and I would like to thank the staff at the Blue Bay Grand Esmerelda, and a special shout out to Our Concierge Carlos, and the resort MD, Claudia, and Fernando at the Snack Bar for Excellent Service. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Blue bay grand Esmeralda in Rivera

Have stayed at this resort four times. Great food, rooms clean, etc. Pools good, beach not great, but a lagoon short walk down the beach where you can swim in beautiful clear water. Lots of good drinks, can get wine all day.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: So So

I stayed at Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda the last week of March. The trip was wonderful as a whole but there were cons for this resort. 1. DEFINITELY NOT A 5 STAR! 2. Beach area is small but beautiful. I'd suggest waking up early to reserve a chair. Your chances of getting a little hut for some shade is also slim to none even if you wake up early to reserve. Don't leave stuff unattended as my cover-up was stolen from one of the chairs. This was probably from another traveler and not the staff.  [... read more] 3. The transportation carts did not run on any particular schedule. They came when they came.. sometimes waiting more than 20 minutes so you might as well walk to get from place to place on the resort. 4. In addition to #3, the transportation carts were old, slow, and smelled strongly of exhaust fumes. 5. Food was a hit or miss. VERY Americanized... had a very hard time finding real Mexican food unless we went to the Mexican a la cart. Hardly a fruit selection for a tropical country. 6. Hardly any hot water or water pressure in our room. Truthfully, I'm a rather easygoing person so for me to have this many complaints speaks volumes. The resort is visually appealing, there is wildlife to be seen, the staff was warm and friendly. If you go on excursions, its a bit more accessible from the resort than it is from a resort in the busier part Cancun.

I had a nice stay, great employees. The little buggy trains will make you gag from exhaust smoke, they were on their last legs and couldn’t handle the loads of people on it. So just take walking shoes to the beach and skip it. Also take your beach towel and claim your chairs early. Make sure the chairs not broken either. I feel their should have been more Mexican desserts/cuisine. Great service either way. Bring a thermos for your drinks, I didn’t like the way they washed the cups at the bar.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Lovely resort

The hotel grounds are stunning. The buffets and restaurants are delicious. The maids, bartenders , and staff are so accommodating always smiling and helpful . The few negatives is the beach with all the seaweed but the staff make a very big effort to remove it every morning... Our room in building six was a bit worn could use update or even new paint. We talked to a few couples in this wing with similarities or worse stories.

Great hotel, friendly staff. Not overly crowded. Food was good, a là cartes.... Mexican was my favorite. Would recommend. Only complaint, no small tables to put drinks on at beach.. overall, best trip 🥰

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Beautiful resort!

Beautiful resort and very spread out. Thankfully there are golf carts shuttles that drive around all day to take you around if you dont want to walk. The food was excellent at the buffet and the al a carte restaurants. The resort was very clean and lots of wildlife on the resort as well.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Just an okay2.5 star resort 2.5, but not worth the price

This resort has maintence problems with their rooms, specifically plumbing problems. There were numerous people that I talked too that had leaks and floods. That may be par for the course, but the food was at best three star and the entertainment was at best 2 star. During the week there were 2 staged shows. On the remainder of the nights it was the audience that provided the entertainment through karaoke (people who think they can hold a note) and tired old couples games and contests. The be [... read more]ach was okay but a good nightly raking would do wonders to clean up the trash. Don't be fooled by the 4 star rating, keep looking and stay elsewhere. This is a tired and run down resort.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: very comfortable Resort

This is a great resort, the staff really work hard to keep you happy. The grounds and buildings were well maintained and clean. This resort had the nicest beach area I could see for miles with bar & restaurant right on the beach. Entertainment was a blast, guaranteed to laugh! Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great week but definitely not a 4 star

Just got back from a week at the Bluebay Villas Doradas with my boyfriend. This is my 4th all inclusive, been to Mexico and Cuba, it was a great week but wouldn't go back. Start with the positives: Food was pretty good, I'm picky but my boyfriend enjoyed everything, fish a la carte was the best one, very fresh seafood. Buffet was good but small but makes sense with smaller resort. Room was clean, staff was super friendly. Animation staff were excellent, Julio, Waldo, George, Veronica, Alfredo [... read more]. They are so passionate about their jobs and are so engaging to talk to, definitely know how to throw a party! The shows were pretty good, entertaining and the ice breakers before were a good way to get the crowds involved. Beach area was big and private, no hotels on the right side which was a bonus and no rocks or anything when you walked in. Negatives: Older resort, rooms were small, we asked for a king bed and got two double beds together so not really a king. Not enough shaded areas at the beach or the pool, had to get up super early to reserve your spot if you wanted shade. Another negative with the beach ha a lot of the cigarette butts, would have been nice to have them clean it more so you aren't stepping in them. Beach towel service was hit and miss, if you wanted a fresh towel they didn't always have them. Wifi was terrible, it was only available in the lobby and only about 10 people could be on it at once and even then it was super slow.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Nice Resort - VERY large

The grounds were well kept. Food was excellent. The resort is nice but very large with lots of vegetation with a lot of wild animals. The resort is very spread out requiring a lot of walking. There are regular shuttles if you are not able to walk. Service was good. Would not recommend if you are looking for a beautiful beach. If you enjoy pools then this resort would suit you well. The black and white bar was excellent.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Nothing Fancy

We travelled to this resort on March 22-29th, 2019. PLEASE BEWARE!! there is currently a new building being built very close to the beach right next to the resorts beach section. I wish we would have been advised about this before booking as it did kind of ruin the beauty of the beach for us a bit. Saturday and Sunday was a nice break as there was no construction during the weekend. The bad: - the rooms/building are very dated, the pool area was also very dated with many broken/cracked tiles [... read more] - Extremely annoying vendors on the beach (but I believe this is the same for every resort on Playa Doradas) - Time share people on the resort were quite annoying as well (one guy even asked our friends straight up for cash for beer after work after telling him they didn't want any part of the time shares) - Bartenders seem very overworked and tired most of the time - The buffet was just average - The white wine wasn't very good - Lobby bar was premium liquor "cash only" extra $$ if you wanted to get a drink there - Rusty old room safe was not included and had to pay extra $$ to use it - Only 1 key card per room or you had to pay extra $$ for a second (also A/C only worked if you had the key card in a slot for it) - Half of the loungers are broken or old and stretched out that they require a pillow to be used with them - You had to get up and reserve your lounger at 7 am or earlier if you wanted a none broken lounger and a shaded area on the beach (maybe for the pool as well but we spend 90% of are time at the beach) - Unfortunately the foam party is only once every 2 weeks and we stayed during the off week and never got to experience it - Shower water pressure was quite weak and one day the entire resort had no water pressure for several hours The good: - The beach is very nice (5*), it was a shame that there was construction when we went and the irritating vendors - The beach bar/snack bar is great! Its right on the beach and had a discotheque beach party at night twice a week - Ice water dispensers at all bars - The Oriental and Steak house a la cartes food was amazing - Lobby and restaurant seems fairly new and nice - Resort seem relatively clean everywhere - The garden and ground were very nice and well maintained - There was an area that had orchids and a pond/waterfall on your way to the beach that was very cool - There is a natural ravine with a board crossing over it (to get to the beach) where you can see plenty of wild birds/turtles/fish - Resort was a short drive from the airport - There is a shopping plaza 4-5 mins walking distance from the resort that has a disco-tech club/bar and a sport bar/restaurant. (Note most of the shops is all the same stuff the vendors try to sell you on the beach) I'd strongly recommend booking the catamaran tour with freestyle on the beach for $55 a per (all you can drink and a lunch included). We had a blast with them and really enjoyed the snorkelling and all. Also I would recommend going to the little restaurant at the for western end of the beach called "Le petit Francois" were you can order a Poutine (fries, gravy and cheese curds). Francois, a guy from Quebec, Canada started his own restaurant there and it was delicious. Overall we made the best of our trip and still had a pretty good time but I would not recommend this resort to anyone until it gets some major renovations done to the rooms/buildings and more chairs/lounger as there is not enough for everyone if the resort is full.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Beautiful spot!

We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda. The first room they put us in was terrible. There was only one bed despite the fact that we booked for two beds. The room was filled with mosquitoes and smelled very moldy. We arrived late and had to stay in this room for one night until they could switch us the next day. That night the air conditioner leaked onto the floor all night and we woke up to a flooded room. It wasn't an awesome first impression. The next day we got moved to build [... read more]ing 5, and we had no more problems. Our room was good, and we were happy with the location. We genuinely enjoyed our vacation and would consider going back to this spot again. The food was great in the main buffet, and in the buffet down by the pool. Some of the a la carte restaurants weren't the best, but it didn't really matter.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Beautiful Resort

The grounds were spectacular, staff very friendly and funny! The buffet and restaurants, I would give it a 4 star. We stayed in building 5 which is very close to the beach, pools, bars and the smaller buffet. Excellent for breakfast & lunch. We had asked & paid for garden view but they gave us the forest view which they also call it the garden view... no screens on the patio door so if you get 1st floor please make sure to close the patio door. The beach at our end of the resort was disappointing, as the ocean was not too clear; rocks, Algae, seaweeds. If you walk 10 min left on the beach there is a spectacular lagoon, beautiful.... 10 min walk to the right on the beach pass the the Ocean & the Secrets resorts is also beautiful, blue clear ocean and white sand. If you prefer to sit on the beach with a hut, try to reserve your chairs by 6am as it fills up fast .. the beach is narrow ... overall we were ok with this resort.

The the grounds smelled of sewage, mainly the entrance and the some of the hotel blocks. Food wasn’t great, servers were good, rooms weren’t the best, plumbing wasn’t the best, staff for the most part were friendly. Experienced Mexico travellers, we will never stay at this resort again, do not recommend

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great vacation

Food was good at the buffets. Our favorite specialty restaurants, French amazing, Steakhouse very good, Seafood, salmon was delicious. Any concerns we had were addressed promptly and without question. Pool was clean. Only used the pool by the beach once. Shuttle service came regularly. Servers were very friendly and efficient. Weather was great. Another entry (steps) at the small pool would be nice. Climbing up on the ledge can be difficult for some, including me. Would return.
