Allegro Papagayo by Occidental: very nice resort

clean and good customer service the rooms are adequate,the pool is very nice,the staff very helpful.Loved the monkeys,had two great side trips zip lining and river cruise.Cant say enough about the perfect weather,outstanding.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Very Disappointing

Over all, very disappointing. Resort is falling apart and in DESPERATE need of renovation. Food was generally very good, but some dishes were inedible. Beach was beautiful, but resort not in the same league. 3 star at best - spend your hard earned money elsewhere!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Avarege resort with exceptional beach.

Location Location :-)....The beach will surprise you how nice it is. Water is the best ever and very clean. Located in very quite lagoon. However the hotel is nothing exceptional. It should be marked as 2 stars not 4 starts. Rooms are so so however the common areas are in TLC need big time. Bars dont have enough glasses for every guest so bring your own cups!

Occidental Punta Cana: Wonderful resort

The grounds were well kept, rooms were clean, food was great. The staff was friendly and courteous. The night life was happening. The disco and shops were great. We enjoyed all of our outings. The beach was well kept.

Occidental Punta Cana: Very good resort

Older resort but very clean. Good food. All night pizza bar was added bonus. Good food and service. Beach is the best part of resort. Easy to get around and many maritimers stay here so easy to make friends. Good value for your $. I would recommend and return. Staff were very friendly and good sense of humor.

Occidental Punta Cana: Nice Resort

Grounds were beautiful. Rooms were tired....need some updating. Rooms were clean. Check in process wasnt very organized. Room was not ready. Had to wait to get into our room about 4 hours after we arrived. No one offered us a room while we waited for ours. Service otherwise was great and food was great. Overall a great vacation experience.

Allegro Papagayo by Occidental: Worth the money

Good views, nice staff, lots to do! Rooms could use a little updating, but all in all, I would go back over and over. It never gets old watching all the monkeys on the beach, histarical! Lots of great excursions as well!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Run down and tired

The beach was great but that's about it. Check in took forever with very few staff present when a new bus load checked in. The staff didn,t seem to care about providing prompt or good service , they were just putting in time The bedrooms were clean but the floor tiles were cracked and woren,outlets did not work,and it was in need of a coat of paint, as was the whole place. There were two elevator and one did not work and apparently had not worked for years according to preious guests. In the din [... read more]ing room I don't think the floors had ever been washed. If you got a napkin it was half or sometimes a quarter of a napkin. The food was ok, but very repetative. The grounds were well maintained but that's about all.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Great resort!

The rooms and grounds were excellent. Loved the pool overlooking the beach. We went in January and the pool was not heated and was too cold for swimming which was disappointing. Overall loved the location and the restaurants and food were first class.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Very good resort !

Personnel is outstanding . They always smile and go the distance to help you. Food was very good, Rooms are clean and well maintained. The vegetation is beautiful, and the pools are in a very good shape. On the bad side, the beach is very small.

Allegro Playacar: Great vacation

We just got back yesterday and stayed for 8 days/7 nights. Check in was fast and easy and they were very welcoming. Our room was nice and had an exceptional view(best anywhere) as we were pretty much right on the beach. The room was a little hot at times as we were on the second floor and had a thatched roof. It could use some updating but we don't spend much time in the room anyways. The beach was amazing and never had a problem finding shade. The buffet was very good with a good selection of f [... read more]ood. The pool bar/snack bar was also very good with great hamburgers. The Mexican a la cart was very good but the Italian was better. We had the romantic lobster dinner on the beach with champagne which was excellent. We never had a problem being ignored like some reviewers had reported but we do tip. We did go to the vacation club sales pitch but the marketing manager Jose Luis made it worth our while. He was very nice. All in all it was a great trip and would have no problem going back in the future.

Estelar Playa Manzanillo: Wonderful hotel in every respect

Our family spent two extraordinary weeks enjoying every aspect of the resort. The food was among the best We've had, as was the service. The facilities were top notch and the beach was perfect for playing in the surf and for long walks. I find it hard to find fault.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Royal Hideaway

This resort caters to older clients 50 and above which suited me. Grounds were well maintained and quite beautiful with very large mature trees providing much needed shade to walk up to the main building. Waiters would visit laying on your lounge chair and offer to bring you beverages every half hour or so. No need to get up to visit the bar unless you wanted to stretch your legs. She took very good care of us and ensured we had our 7 dinner reservations all scheduled the first day we arrived and continually checked with us to see if we were enjoying our vacation. Most staff we encountered were amazingly friendly and polite. Some bar tenders were not very friendly. Absolute vodka, Ciroc other top shelf liquors are part of all inclusive package. Restaurants provided very good meals for the most part. Buffet breakfast is outstanding and they serve Mimosas every morning with breakfast if you like them. Lunch can be served in the restaurant overlooking the ocean or delivered to your lounger. Felt very decadent to sit on a lounger and have lunch delivered. Formal afternoon tea was a nice treat one day with tiny treats. Beach area is nicely shaded with palm trees if you're looking for shade and there are lots of sun loungers. There are even beds with mattresses overlooking the beach. No shortage of beach towels. Didn't try the spa or the parasail, suba diving, or snorkeling, or day trips. Walked to Playa Del Carmen to buy a few t-shirts. Took a taxi back to the resort (this was a very hot walk of 20 minutes). A few negatives. Be careful on the steps in the infinity pool. Steps are all the same dark blue tile, and some people stubbed their toes, scraped their legs because they couldn't tell where the steps were while getting out. Tile edge of each step needs to be changed to a different colour (bright yellow) so guests can tell where each step rises. Infinity pool is beautiful. Restaurants - Las Ventanas wasn't our "cup of tea" for dinner, although the presentation by the chef was absolutely beautiful. The flavours were just not to our liking, but the beef tenderloin was really good. Entertainment was good on Tuesday at the buffet restaurant. We were among the last 10 people to be invited up to the buffet tables, and discovered most chafing dishes empty of the hot food. Even butter for the bread ran out (requested more butter from 3 servers) but were slow to respond. Getting enough to eat over the day isn't a problem at all. Only discovered lack of food at the buffet on Tuesday. ALWAYS use the in-room safe to store all valuables. In room safe batteries were dead when we checked in, but maintenance came and replaced them promptly. Safe worked fine. At the end of our stay some cash was stolen from a night-table was noticed after the maid cleaned the room. I wanted to give this resort a 5 star, but given these negatives, can only give a 4.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Second time around and still amazing!!!

April at Allegro Varadero was a dream come true...14 days and nights in a relaxed and gorgeous setting. Our oceanview room view was all we hoped, pretty and spotless, with the sound of the waves lulling us to sleep at night. Staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. We will definitely be going back, and 2 weeks were so much better than one. All we can say is GO...GO...GO to Allegro Varadero.

Occidental Punta Cana: Great overall resort

People were great beach is beautiful - rooms dated but they did their best to keep things clean - the privilege club is a big bonus - well located room - larger rooms - food was good, the staff did their best to make your stay a good one

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great place to Kite !

Let's face it, nobody goes to Cuba for a culinary experience. I had heard alot of bad rap about this place but the food wasn't that bad. Nothing to write home about but for a great week of kiting, fresh seafood and fruits will do me just fine.

Allegro Cozumel: Very Cozy Hotel

My recent trip was my first experience at an all inclusive resort. It was on the smaller side. I was a little disappointed in the food, was hoping for some more authentic food. It was well taken care of and groomed. The first night we were there there was no power on the whole south side of the island and they handled everything very well. I was impressed. There is a place to book tours just outside the lobby and they offer all these free things as long as you go for lunch and visit their sister [... read more] hotel. what they fail to mention is that is a timeshare viewing. this was very disappointing as we did not want to spend half a day at a place that wasn't our own being bugged to buy a timeshare. when we declined we found them to be quite rude. Who goes on vacation prepared to sign a contract for thousands of dollars. All in all it was a very small resort and the food wasn't amazing but most of the staff was friendly. Breakfast was by far the best meal of the day. I don't think I would travel back to this hotel but not because I didn't enjoy myself, just because I would like to try something different.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great resort next to Xcaret Park!

Had a wonderful vacation at this beautiful resort. The grounds were very tropical and well laid out. The food and drinks were very good and lots of selection. Staff were amazing. The beach was nice however I would have liked a bigger one for walking. Enjoyed the adult area with the salt water pool. Rooms were fine. Liked the easy access to Xcaret Park. Went on an excursion there in the past. Love this park, especially the show at night about the history of Mexico.

Allegro Playacar: LOve the resort

Really nice resort, small and very clean. Food was good, not too much variation for vegetarian. Loved the guacamole and salsa. The beach is sooo nice , you can walk for hours, enjoyed going to the very end for a Yoga session. 20 minutes walked to the Fifth Avenue, lots of shopping there. Enjoyed the ambiance and the VIP treatment. Staff is very pleasant. I recommend this resort.

Allegro Papagayo by Occidental: This was a great place I enjoyed it there

It is not a five star hotel but is plenty of enjoyable time can be spent here .. Food was good staff was very nice . Felt safe all the time here . I would come back . Could use some more convenient ways to Coco or other places. It costs large to get off the resort .. Make sure you have your snacks and stuff packed not much to buy there. But it was a great place for a great deal.
