We loved the hotel, food was delicious and plenty, people were friendly and welcoming.
The hotel was clean and you can tell staff cares about it, bravo!
The staff made us feel safe, comfortable and welcomed. We’ll definitely be back!
My only suggestion, the laundry detergent that is used for the sheets smells very strong and I had issues sleeping because of it, looking for something with a softer scent or no scent would be better.

Riu Ocho Rios: Expected better
The Asian food display was not appetizing. The Asian and Steakhouse restaurants were 6/10. The buffet food was good to start then slowly went downhill. There was no music/dancing past 11 p.m. The beer was always room temperature. Service was good. The beach itself was nice except when you step on rocks.

Riu Palace Aquarelle: Disappointment for a Riu
The food at the buffet was horrible. It was over cooked, salty and then too sweet.
The water park was no water park it was 4 slides. Fake photos.
The cleaning staff and reception was excellent.
The pools were amazing .
The entertainment staff did their best to keep the fun going and kids occupied.
The beach had lots of rocks and seaweed.
Some of the wait staff was excellent
And some ignored you unless you tipped them.,or seemed as you would .

Riu Caribe Cancun: Riu Caribe Resort, Cancun – A Perfect 10/10 Stay
We just returned from an unforgettable stay at Riu Caribe in Cancun, and I can confidently say this resort exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, everything was smooth, relaxing, and downright enjoyable.
The Grounds & Rooms:
The property is absolutely immaculate — meticulously maintained with lush landscaping and clean, open walkways. The rooms are modern, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, with beautiful full or side ocean views from every room. Housekeeping did an outstan[... read more]ding job daily, keeping everything spotless and refreshed.
Dining Experience:
The food was a highlight, and one of the best surprises was that no dinner reservations were needed. You can simply walk into any restaurant with no lineups, which made evenings stress-free. While all the dining options were excellent, the Coral buffet stood out — the variety, freshness, and flavor were top-notch. Whether you’re a foodie or just looking for something comforting and satisfying, Coral won’t disappoint.
Beach & Ocean:
Now for the best part — the beach and ocean. Unlike many areas in the Caribbean affected by sargassum, the beach at Riu Caribe is practically sargassum-free. On the rare occasion a patch drifted in, it was small, washed up quickly, and was swiftly cleaned by the hardworking staff. It never interfered with swimming. The ocean is calm, clear, swimmable, and absolutely stunning. No mosquitoes, no jellyfish — just paradise.
Safety & Service:
The entire resort feels very safe, and the staff goes out of their way to ensure every guest is comfortable and well taken care of. From dining staff to housekeeping to beach maintenance crews, the service was consistently friendly, professional, and efficient.
Final Thoughts:
Riu Caribe hits the sweet spot between luxury and laid-back comfort. With the beautiful beach, amazing food, zero hassle dining, and a sargassum-free ocean, it’s easily a 10/10 experience. Highly recommended for couples, families, or anyone looking to truly relax in Cancun.

Riu Latino: Second timer!
Just came back on Saturday. This place has it all. The food is amazing. Four restaurants to choose from without needing to make reservations. The beach was amazing. Some seaweed but would always be cleaned and we swam in the ocean everyday. The pools are clean. The grounds are immaculately clean. Theres always entertainment or a party, but lots of quiet space for those who want quiet time. The only thing is that there's seperate music playing at the different pools and sometimes, it's a bit anno[... read more]ying to hear a mix of different music playing at one time. Can be noisy sometimes. If your room is around the stage, you won't be sleeping early. Excellent service. Epic time. I'd go back for a third time.

Riu Latino: This resort checked all the boxes. Bravo Latino!
This was my first trip back to Mexico in over 30 years and Riu Latino checked all the boxes. It’s a relatively new hotel and it shows. All the amenities from the lobby, to the restaurants, the five pool decks, multiple bars, the water park, lounge chairs, sun covers and our room, everywhere we looked we found this resort equipped with the latest and the greatest. The grounds are beautiful and well manicured, we saw maintenance staff working diligently every day. The waiters and waitresses in all[... read more] the restaurants were amazing as they were very attentive, courteous and always providing top service with a smile. The resort was always clean as the staff was constantly seen cleaning and polishing at every turn. Our maid service was superb, always on time and extremely thorough. The beach is the largest I’ve seen and although there was some sargassum evident, it was cleared away and the beach groomed every day. There were plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas at the beach as well as on the pool decks. There were lots of activities around the pool areas from aerobics to bean bag toss, water polo, volleyball, table tennis, beach soccer, bingo and more. Had lots of fun making use of the water park. The entertainment in the evening offered quite a variety from Las Vegas, to Mexican, various countries around the world, rock & roll, Michael Jackson and karaoke. Food in the restaurants was excellent including the complimentary house wines. The buffet restaurant offered a wide choice of cuisine from Mexican, to Chinese, Italian, Seafood, meats and salads of all kinds, vegan, and more. Great selection of fruits, baked deserts, and ice cream. There were four of us travelling, my wife, myself, my daughter and son in-law. My wife and I were celebrating a mile stone birthday and my daughter and son in-law their second wedding anniversary. As such the resort was kind enough to surprise us with two bottles of champagne to compliment our stay. I highly recommend this resort and we hope to go back soon.

Riu Negril: Not how I remember
The hotel is still pretty good but now how we remember it from a few years ago. Food is still great. Entertainment is still terrific. Front staff was great. But onto the not so great. Issues with cockroaches. Which we never experienced there before. Salon stylist was rude for no reason. I asked if they had an idea of how long it would take to braid my daughters hair just for planning purposes and the person doing the booking tried to ask the stylist. She wouldnt even look as us and it was us tha[... read more]t was asking. She talked only to the other worker and said, how should she know since "them hair is different from we". Rude for no reason. Im sure my daughter isnt the first mixed persons hair she ever braid. She could have given an estimate. And to not even address us directly was ignorant. Also found alot of staff just didnt seem cheerful like they usually do. Unfortunately it will be our last stay at this resort.

The service was great. Resort clean and well staffed. Ocean swimming was a blast. The weather report was saying rain the whole time but it was fabulous and a good mix of sun and cloud. It rained briefly overnight but days were amazing!

Riu Palace Antillas: Amazing beach, great resort and location
Stayed here for our honeymoon in June 2025 and loved it.
- Beach was beautiful and the resort's best feature. Pools were nice, although we didn't use them as they were usually quite crowded.
- Drinks and food were great too - liked the restaurants and buffets always had fresh food and were consistent (although we were not a fan of the desserts). We especially liked the 24 hr cafe, was very convenient.
- Room was modern, nice bed and the hotel and bathrooms were always clean.
- There is [... read more]not too much entertainment but there was lots to do on the strip and the immediate area - 15 / 20 min walk from the resort - was safe and fun.
- Staff were mostly nice, kind, respectful and service was always great. They appreciate tips but not necessary.
- Resort had a good crowd of people, not very rowdy but still fun - notably, its an older crowd of 35 - 55+ yr olds.
Was a great experience overall and we would love to go back some day.

Riu Republica: Review
Overall, if you want to party, this is the resort for it! Food was amazing, and customer service was 7/10 most times!
A few things,
At check in they gave me and my friends our room keys but never gave us any towel cards (We didnt even know these cards existed until we went to go get a towel). So we just air dryed all week. When we went to go checkout, they asked for out towel cards and we said we don't have one and the lady working the front said, $20 us dollars (per card, per guest) if yo[... read more]u don't give me a card. We all had to pay even though we all NEVER got cards.
When me and my one friend were sleeping, a worker just opended our door with their key and said "hello", I replied and said "hello, could you pleaase come back so we can get ready for out day" (We just woke up at like 830am). the worker completly ignored me and started fixing stuff in the room and replacing things. When he left to grab some stuff I closed the door with the do not distub sign and he started banging until I opened it. Then he came in fixed whatever he needed to "fix" and replaced an alcohoal bottle.
Other than those 2 things, overall great resort and a great time. This dosent happen to everyone, but just thought I would share my experiences!

Riu Palace Aruba: Somewhat enjoyable week
We've been to Aruba many times but this was our first time at the Riu Palace. The accommodations were somewhat disappointing. We had booked a junior suite and the first one we were given was on the ground floor with a 'garden view' which turned out to be a construction site for the neighboring resort. We asked to be moved and the following day we had a suite on the 7th floor overlooking the pool. It was just okay - very dated and extremely noisy. Turns out one of the Riu Palace towers was also u[... read more]nder construction and they played the music at a volume loud enough to drown out the jackhammering all day. It would have been nice to have somewhere quiet to relax. Most resorts I've been to have had quiet pools and/or library areas for reading. Even the lobby was very noisy.
On the positive side, the meals in the buffet and the alacarte restaurants were outstanding as was the service. Aruba is still our favorite island.

Riu Santa Fe: Great time at RIU Santa Fe
Had a great time at Riu Santa Fe. The resort is well kept. Rooms are modern and well equipped. Beds were comfortable.
The only complain is that most of the A Lacarte restaurants are buffet style. The steak house is not but you have to line up at 5:00 pm to get a place. I don’t understand why they just don’t take reservations and spare us from standing in the blazing sun for min 45 min.
Otherwise the food was good and in abundance.

Riu Latino: Short trip great hotel

Riu Republica: Nice beach, but many rooms with no AC
Food was amazing, beach was nice. Not that much sargassum compared to other resort in Punta Cana. Not the bad, we were the first to exit the bus and reach reception and were given a room with no AC. We asked to change room and instead they insisted in sending someone to check the AC with took 3 hours. Finally they were forced to give us another room however they wanted to give us a room with 1 bed. We needed 2 beds. After arguing they finally gave us a room with 2 beds even tho they told us they[... read more] wasn’t any room available. 2 nd room no AC again. Went back to lobby, and they checked 4 different room and they could find a room with working AC. We arrived at 5pm and only finally got a decent room at midnight with working AC. In the meantime, a lot of people checked in and received a proper room. Few days after, the toilet bowl wouldn’t flush and we let reception know, they sent someone to check and he used a plastic bag to connected the string in the toilet bowl. After a few flush it wouldn’t work anymore. We had to put out hand water in the back of the toilet bowl to flush manually. Finally the swim up pool bar beside the beach, the water in the pool was very murky where you could barely see your feet. Everything else was fine. You can swim at any time during the day or night. This is a party hotel, clientele is very young. Early 20’s.

Riu Lupita: A difficult hotel to rate
Riu Lupita is a difficult hotel to rate because it depends on what you like.
To me, the beach is the most important thing and the price. I never have expectations about the food or amenities, and for sure I don’t care if the TV works or not.
Travel: First week of June 2025
This is a small resort, which for me is great, but if you like mega resorts, this one is not for you.
Amenities are limited, so if Gym, Spa, etc are important to you, wrong hotel.
The hotel was not at full capacity. If [... read more]there were more people, it would not have been pleasant.
Price:
We paid CAD 1,300 for flight, transfer and hotel. If we had waited it could have been CAD 1,100 each and RIU Palace was CAD 1,800 (for reference)
Beach:
This was my 3rd visit to Playa del Carmen. The sargassum is a down. We were able to get in the ocean the first day and 20 minutes on the last day. I came to the realization that I prefer Cuba with their ok food and any other limitations (less expensive and way better beaches)
To get to the beach you must ride a bus (12 minutes). The bus also stops at the entrance of the town. The ride is not a big deal. My problem is that 6 out of 7 days we did the ride to find out we could not swim, either because of the sargassum or red flag.
Pools:
I don’t like public pools. I have one at my building and I have used it once.
The hotel has 3 pools. The main pool is smaller than what you see in the pictures. The best one is the adult or the relaxation one.
All pools are heat it, which makes no sense to me. They are clean.
Food:
Buffet – it is ok to good. You will not go hungry. Sometimes they don’t replenish dishes so if you see something you like, take it.
Restaurants – Nothing special. The mediterranean and Mexico were ok. The steak at the beach club was not worth the bus ride.
I prefer the buffet for sure.
The room was perfect. Everything works as expected. I like firm beds.
Employees were friendly, professional and extremely attentive. Fidelia at the buffet is a sweetheart.
But again, all the employees are excellent.
People, Tip, just because it is an all inclusive, it doesn’t mean the tips are included. A USD or 20 MXP it is not a lot of money for us. We spend more than that just in coffee here.
Note to the hotel:
1. Why have fried plantain for breakfast and never for lunch or dinner?
2. Turn off the heat in the pools.
3. 20 USD/daily bicycle rental? That’s a bit too much
I have to insert here a review that has nothing to do with the hotel. Lots of utube videos recommend a restaurant on calle 2nd in town – La Tarraya – Do not go there, it is a tourist trap. on the top worth meals ever for what we paid. I will write a more detailed review on google or trip advisor.

The hotel itself offers good amenities food and drinks but our experience was not very pleasant one
Issues were not dealt with efficiently just a laid back approach
