Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Over booked and no service

After 25 plus trips to various locations in Southern Cuba, this is the worst overall hotel that I have encountered The food and rooms were excellent, however this is the only positive for this hotel - Rooms were overbooked and did not honor previously confirmed bookings. In an attempt to contact management regarding this problem, I was informed several times "no on was available" and the standard response was " Its Corporate policy and these rules are made off site" - Service was poor with only  [... read more]service available with substantial tipping - There were insufficient beach chairs for the guests. Guest lined up early in the morning to reserve the few available chairs. - To many guests and not enough employees. I waited 52 minutes to order and receive a Pizza in the Italian a la carte restaurant. I arrived at 1:10 PM after the main rush, and did not receive the food order of one pizza until 2:02 PM, - Lack of adequate personnel in the only dinning hall led to extensive delays in getting a table, and in several instances the we were forced to set up our own table, and move existing used dishes to other tables. Yes I will continue to visit this area of Cuba, however I will NEVER consider a Blau resort again

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Blau Marina Varadero

Resort was good, with rooms and grounds kept quite clean . Some of the room are quite decrepit though and may require upgrading - had to request change of room as a result. Staff was courteous, polite generally and responsive to request

Punta Peninsula Varadero: fun for family

friendly staff, resort could use a freshning up. Mattresses as hard as rocks. Food is ok. Hard to get pool towels so once you get them hold onto them. Bar service was great at all the bars. Beach was ok.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Lovely resort

We just returned the end of last week; spent a week there and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly. We were in Block 26 on the top floor and had a lovely room. It was quiet there...did not hear too much of the noise at night. The only downside was that the water pressure in the shower wasn't always good, especially late afternoons. On check out day - very early - we had no water at all, but when I called reception the water came back on a little while later. By Tuesday the resort was q [... read more]uite full and sometimes they would close the doors to the buffet (because it was full) and then let people in again when people left....so it was a good option to go early. The line-ups were quite long, especially in the morning to get omelettes, but the lady did an awesome job of serving everyone. Food was good...something for every taste. The buffet can do with a few more wait staff as they were doing their best, but were so busy. I loved the fruit juices in the morning and wish they had the same for lunch and supper as well. I did not like the coffee that came out of the machine. Loved the snack bar close to the beach; had most of our lunches there...food was good and service as well. We got up very early to reserve a place in the shade on the beach. The beach was nice...we enjoy our walks. The gardens were well kept. Our room was kept spotless and the bar fridge was filled every day with water, pop and beer. Will definitely go back there again.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Beautiful

Stayed in building 14 and the location was perfect. Close walk to everything. Room was spacious and comfortable. Had an issue with a flashing light in the bathroom. Was fixed the day after I mentioned it, but started flashing again. Pools and beach were amazing. Always lots of chairs. Friendly staff. Food was fine. Loved that at breakfast the carafe of coffee was left at the table. Never had to wait for a refill. I would recommend the resort but NOT Cubana air. Our flight was cancelled last minu [... read more]te without much explanation and the whole ordeal was handled terribly by the airport staff. Lost a whole day of relaxing in the sun. If Hola Sun and Cubana air don't have representatives working on Sundays, then they shouldn't fly on that day. I left my house at 1am Sunday morning and didn't get checked in to my room at the resort until 5am Monday morning. Not a good start to my hard earned vacation!. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: No regrets....wonderful resort

I have to say that this resort is just wonderful. You have 2 resorts combined together, the Blau Costa Verde & Blau Costa Verde Plus. The Plus section is newer, you have access to a VIP bar, VIP pool & 5 a la carte restaurants. The service is great, the pool & the beach are really nice, food is wonderful with lots of variety. You have lots of variety in food, 2 buffet open for both breakfast & lunch & 5 choices of restaurants to choose from for supper. Nothing to complain about! Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort in overall

The hotel in overall was very good, we stayed at the VIP section and I must say it is well worth it to pay the extra money. The rooms are very nice with a very comfortable bed. The food was very tasty no matter where you went, this is the best food I’ve had in Cuba. The beach is not the nicest beach due to the random rocks that are under water that you can’t see. Getting beach chairs are a challenge, you must reserve them by 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. at the latest or you won’t get any chairs. I fi [... read more]nd that the animation group could be better as well. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: was an amazing resort and cubans nice people

no problems except for the bacon was not very good but rest was beautiful. pools were nice and grounds were gorgeous also people very very friendly too. lots people on the beaches and around the swim up bars were nice too.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: A very nice resort

The grounds were beautiful, the food was excellent except for the bacon. It was only ever 1/4 cooked. The rooms were super clean. Very friendly staff. The pools were very nice. It was too hot to spend time on the beach since it was hard to find a spot in the shade so we spent our days at the swim up bar where we found shade.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great Resort - Great Staff

We had a blast at this resort. It's not perfect and if you are looking for reasons to complain you will find them. While the beach has rocks/coral there are plenty of large sandy areas easy to get to. While the buffet food maybe isn't the best it is still good and there are plenty of options. There is also a pig roast on Fridays that is absolutely delicious. The rooms were nice size and clean/new. We had 3 in a room with an extra bed requested and had no issues. While you may find some surly or less friendly we found several very friendly fun staff at all the different bars as well as at the buffet. I would definitely go back here and recommend going if you are looking for a budget <$1000 vacation.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Beautiful resort!! Amazing beach!!

The Blau marina was a nice resort not top of the line but the beach and water was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The pools were well kept and very relaxing. The food was not great but if that's why your going then Cuba is not for you.... Go for the people, the scenery, the ocean, the beach, and the beautiful country!!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Hotel Colonial Fantastic!!!!

Ole,The Hotel is being updated, lush grounds, beautiful pools , gorgeous beach. The staff amazing. Travelled from March 25 to April 1 2016, Will be going back to this resort only from now on. This is a quiet hotel for people wanting to relax and bring their families. Musicians play at your table during dinner and then there is live music and entertainment until 11pm. I recommend when it comes to food, do what I did, breakfast; there's a pancake/ frenchtoast grill, they will also make grilled cheese. You have to gather the ingredients and tell them how to cook it. Or don't be creative. :-) Lunch time, there's a big BBQ outside the buffet . Dinner time; I was obsessed with the pasta/pizza station. Again I would gather the ingredients on my plate from whatever I find in the buffet, pick my pasta, ask for tabasco or wine or balsamic vinegar and get them to cook it. They would all laugh at me think i'm crazy but all the people at our table kept saying omg soooo delicious. So I enjoyed my food. There are no chefs at resorts even the five stars! The ketchup, pepper, jams, does not taste like ours because ours is filled with a lot of sugar, the pepper is white so be careful pouring it lol. They also make delicious donuts in front of the café every evening.....who wouldn't gain five pounds! I have been to many resorts in Cuba, this one is my favorite, oceanview room #3335. Building #33 oceanview all are great. So is building #16 oceanview. We also loved all the rooms around the salt water pool, really beautiful. This was the first resort built in Cayo Coco in 1993. It's Spanish Colonial style and everyday they were working on the walk-ways. ( the entire area around the salt-water pools is finished and beautiful). It's grand and affordable. Ask front desk for a renovated room, and tell them it's your first time there. :-) I miss it! I want to go back already!

Blau Varadero: Excellent service, Great environment

Excellent service, great environment and good hardware equipment, except for the slow and tight elevator space. We had a great time there. Hope that we could spend more 7 days there, as we spent two days going out to Havana and the cave.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Throw back to the Old

Had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Colonial Cayo Coco, The resort is 10 minutes from the airport and looks like a small Spanish village, amazing looking architecture through out. The pools where clean, the drinks were cold and the beach was stunning. The food was meh, expected for Cuba so no disappointment here and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I'd recommend a stay for anyone looking for a cheap place to relax.

Hotel very nice with good outlook over the ocean. good food and the staff extremely friendly and efficient.only drawback..the mosquitos,but sadly that goes with the area ! Facilities are good and family friendly.Also,nicely quiet

Punta Peninsula Varadero: it was OK. nothing more

Showing up late at night and going for something to eat. Was a very long waite just for a small plate of fries. I had ants in my room and my mini fridge did not work. The service staff in the areas where eat did not wash the tables u had to look around to find your sliver where.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Good resort for the price

Nice place with Easy access all around. The VIP section Is perfect. The five Resto are good. The beach Is clean and there Is a lot of chairs. There Is a lot to do and there Is an amasing chopping center.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: amazing spot

This was our 7th trip to the Hotel Colonial - the best yet....lots new renovations, clean, wonderful. Hope to be back next year. Can't beat the beaches in Cuba, the water crystal clear and the sunshine amazing.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort

My husband and I stayed at Blau Costa Verde in the plus section on March 4 - 11, 2016. The resort and the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The beach was beautiful but beware of coral in the water. The food and drinks were very good. We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Best week in Cuba I've ever had

Friendly staff. Awesome food. Resort is in good enough shape. Lots of amenities and entertainment. Beach is very close and not crowded. Great excursions - I recommend the Mountain Adventure and Campina Taina. The food - again - is awesome... surprisingly good compared to other resorts in Cuba. Holguin is a great destination I can't recommend enough!
