Friendly Resort

The staff were friendly and competent. The resort was very clean. This is our fourth visit and I think the quality of the food and wine have deteriorated. Would like to see the safe included in the package as well.

It was all well until departure day

Our 10 night stay at the Royal Decameron was great - the food was great, the staff was very helpful as well as courteous, and the entertainment was fun to watch and participate in. We would return to this complex. There was an issue: On the departure date, a Saturday- (is that a good day to depart?) - the shuttle was to arrive and pick us up at 0920, but never arrived until 1010, loaded with Vancouver departees, and traffic was slowed to a crawl. We were supposed to depart the airport prior [... read more] to those Vancouver bound, but they were given three check in lines, and we were left waiting with no Winnipeg check in line for over two hours. There was one line for Calgary. Finally, we got closer to the air transat check in, the computer crashed, and we waited again. It was nobody's fault, and the tech support got it up and running again. Our flight was to leave at 1300, and we waited.....and at departure time, still waited without a boarding pass Leaving the resort early wasn't early enough if that's the way we're treated. But had to rush through the secure side to get to our flight. Luckily, the plane waited for us and the remaining passengers before leaving. Plane door was closed at 1330. Airborne at 1345. Our suggestion: would you organize this departure better, including individual shuttles for each destination - a single shuttle each for Winnipeg, Vancouver, Calgary, and enough time then to eat a lunch - or browse at the airport.... It can be done and be easier on the nerves if the destinations are kept separate instead of all on one bus.

FANTASTIC VACATION

This hotel boasts many repeat guests. The grounds are beautifully manicured. Staff work very hard and are very friendly. The rooms are basic but are very clean. Block 5 is adults only with its own pool. The nightly shows were excellent and the entertainment staff do a great job. You can walk for miles on the beach and it felt very safe.

Wonderful Time

Royal Decameron was delightful spot nice lawns, palm trees, clean pools & very friendly staff everywhere. Clean rooms and all areas, common areas dated (cushions have been well-loved) but great friendly people (Canadians mostly), many returning year after year. Good food overall. Close to cute town, evening shows were top-rate for costuming/choreograpy. All very casual/family friendly. Hola!

Fantastic resort!

Our stay at The Decameron was wonderful. We paid a little extra for Building 1, which overlooked the ocean and it was well worth it; the beach is just steps away and the sunsets were spectacular. Mind you, the Decameron has lots of beachfront and some of the other five buildings have terrific views also. In any case, they're all a quick walk to the beach. The hotel is also the only resort in the village of Bucerias, which is right outside the front door and very quaint - cobblestone roads, pic [... read more]turesque haciendas, little markets and some upscale stores also. The amenities - six pools, five restaurants, two buffets, numerous bars, tennis courts - were all great and we liked that bike and water sport rentals were free. The two lobbies aren't vast and impressive like many resorts as The Decameron is a little older, but once inside, you'll find helpful staff, a welcoming atmosphere and a chill vibe for all ages.

My Warm Home Away from Home

The RDC is my go to vacation destination. the staff, and I mean all the staff from the ground up are all friendly and amazing! No complaints at all from me. Amazing place to go. Once you go you will go back time and time again

Good time!

Nice hotel with good food. Hotel is a little older but the staff are wonderful. More suited for young families and 60 plus as the adult pool (quiet pool) is geared specifically for the older generation. If your between the ages of 30-50 and are not travelling with children, you may not find many people in your age group here. Also, be aware that the walls are paper thin if you are a light sleeper. We maybe got 3 -5 nights of fluid uninterrupted sleep in our 15 night stay. Had a great time!

The hotel is a little dated, BUT it is a great place to stay. Overall the food was good and the specialty restaurants did not disappoint. (Steakhouse was our favorite). I would recommend avoiding building 2 as it is right by the nightly shows and nightclub. It is VERY NOISEY. We were booked into this block and within the 1st hour I reqested to be moved. The Decameron is only 3.5 ***

Dec 3-10 2016 This Hotel was VERY disappointing. There were NO fridges in any of the rooms (the couple we flew with needed to have Medication in a fridge, but nothing was done). So the one bottle of water you got was room temp. There were too many WASPS buzzing around everywhere. I'm allergic. NO service while you are at the pool or beach for drinks. You had to find a bar and stand in line every time you wanted a drink, usually only one bartender. No tissue's anywhere, No alcohol in your rooms, [... read more] no lotions, no King beds, only doubles, no wifi or internet available in your rooms, only in lobby and we had to reboot 3 times in 30 minutes...It was hard for my hubby to get any work done at all..We usually buy a package for him and all is good. The lounge chairs were old plastic ones with no cushions (we had to buy blow ups so we could sit on those chairs for any length of time. We felt they catered to the Mexican families a little too much. Some Evening shows in Spanish only. We have been to a few places like the Palladium and the Grand Sirens on both the Mayan side and P.V. side and they are ranked 4.5 and 5 stars So This one should in no way be ranked that high..It is run down with holes in the curtains and no lights in the rooms also no end tables. No special drinks to speak of, no decent wine, only out of a box even in the restaurants, no little shooter drinks, no pina coladas, no mojitos, no GM, no after dinner drinks. Only one or two people spoke enough english to help us to get to Puerto Vallarta by taxi and where to see some new things. We will never go back to this Complex. Please TripCentral You need to change the Status of this complex on your site. I have trusted your ratings in the past, but this one just doesn't cut it. We are from Alberta, Canada and are between 55 & 60 years old. We hope this will help anyone to decide not to go here.

Good resort

This is a large resort,good opportunity for walking. Rooms are clean and serviced well. Grounds are well manicured. Having dinner and watch sunset is best of all. Transat flight takes 5 hours,one glass of water and a mint is little disappointing. I had a great vacation.

Fantastic resort

It is our 15 times that we go to this resort in the last 5 1/ 2 years and have recommended lots of people to the resort already and they all feel the same way then us, it is a 4 star resort with 5 star service.Every one is pleasant from the gardener, chambermaid, bartenders, waiters and the front desk staff.Going so many time now, most knows us by name and always shows their content that we are back at the resort. The person that is in charge of allocating the rooms gave us his personal e mai [... read more]l and told us when we go the next time to send him a note and he will make sure to reserve the room we want to stay in. The assistant General Manager asked us personally to write him a letter before we left to voice our opinion on some of the changes that was made and some of the changes that should be made. We have nothing but praise about this hotel and in the near future, we will go to their hotel in other countries to try them out. Thanks for letting us giving some feed backs. Exceeded our expectations!!!!

It was our first trip to Mexico. It was in first week of October. I booked my trip 8 days before leaving. I payed eight hundred n i was not expecting much as it was supposed to include flight ,hotel, food n drinks. In the flight only soft drinks were provided no snacks ( which was ok as the price was so low). Once there were in a shuttle to the resort 20-25 minutes. I really liked the design of the resort..... Hotel was older but very clean and nicely maintained. We tried Italian, Brazilian, Mexican and Thai restaurant s all were 👍. And even if you were not able to book any restaurant the buffet had more than enough choices... The beach was beautiful and the waves were light enough that kids could enjoy,water temperature was just right. Puerto Vallarta has a lot to do but in my opinion I would reaserch the places and go in a taxi n not with Vallarta adventurers.... I went to the city tour, San Sebastian, went downtown in a cab and spent the whole day there. Everyone I spoke to had been there atleast 5 times I saw many families with small kids ( I think kids under 8 stay free at the hotel, which is great value)...... I am planning my next trip already.....The staff is very friendly and hardworking...... And one more thing bring a giant glass or a beer mug..... :)

GLAD I CHECKED OUT THIS RESORT

I was at this resort for the first time in May/June of this year for 2 weeks and decided to come again after 3 months. I read up on the reviews and the resort lived up to it's reputation of being very clean and very friendly staff. I've stayed in other more elegant resorts but I like the fact that you can be in with the local people the minute you step outside the Decameron gate. I like seeing Mexican families with 3 generations vacationing together. It is nice though to have the adults only  [... read more]pool for some peace and quiet. The food was very good with enough variety. With so many complaints in the reviews regarding the way they take reservations for the a la carte dining - I'm surprised they haven't changed the system. It would also be nice if they provide small fridges in the rooms, include the safety deposit box as part of the all inclusive arrangement and update the air conditioners as some are as loud as a truck running and you can feel the vibrations from units beside, above or below you. Overall though, it is a good resort and would definitely stay again.

Changing resort

Hotel has changed for the worse since the last time we were here, air conditioning was not working, no privacy on the balcony. As you can see the people beside you. No coffee pot In the room, no shower holder for your shampoos and gels, not satisfied at all

Good Price

Hi, Booking the trip was a bit stressful, as the tripcentral website didn't work and we called in to book in the end, after several attempts to do it online. The hotel was good. Staff were all very friendly. We didn't get what we were promised at booking time-a beachfront room, but our room was okay. Also, the alcohol at the resort was very watered down. The food was good, but I would reccommend sticking to cooked food because I ate a lot of raw vegetables/fruit the first few days and had  [... read more]stomach problems. Overall it was a good trip. I'm not sure if I would go back to be honest. But I'm glad I got to see Puerto Vallarta. B

Royal Decameron Review

Holiday was fair for the money, the greater majority of guests were Mexican locals and thus the food, pool music and entertainment was almost entirely catered to them. which is fair enough really I suppose. But with the hotel being touted on line as a second home to Canadians and minimum one plane load of Canadians per week, I was hoping for some familiar food in the buffet and to be able to be understood a little easier. Quite honestly I was glad to be out of there, it was a long week. No more  [... read more]rock hard beds/pillows, very loud Spanish bump bump music and barely edible food ( desserts were good though ). It was an OK break but hotel was no way a 4 star though. I know I could make a few very minor changes and more than triple their Canadian visitors!

Last minute trip

This hotel exceeds in space, pools, and restaurants. Although their process of reserving tables for the restaurants was a bit odd, the entirety of the trip was great. They kept the pools clean and made sure children did not disturb the adult area, which was really appreciated. Barmen could make better tips if they offered drinks to people on the pool side.

Great for the price

overall hotel was great food; services ; rooms and very special all the people that works there. night shows are great specially mexican nights also games and shows at the pool kids club was great perla was awesome with my kids again for the price is very good

A great week at Royal Decameron Complex

This being our 4th visit to the resort, we were aware of the hotel layout, buffets, a la cartes, bars, etc. The hotel does not portray itself as 5* -- I would rate it a solid 3.5 to 4* by Mexican standards. Do your homework before travelling and you will know that there are no refrigerators in the room and the hotel provides minimal extras in terms of lotions, shampoo, etc. We had booked with Transat on their "free upgrade" offer however we were not granted the upgrade. Although we were happy with the building and the room in general, the air conditioner in the room was extremely noisy. Maintenance did look at it, but it remained very loud for the duration of our visit. The resort seemed to be a little quieter than in past visits, with a good mix of nationals and international guests (Canada & Great Britain mainly). During the summer there is never an issue with getting a seat at the beach regardless of what time you arrive. Staff are consistently friendly and the resort is clean and well-maintained overall. We have never found that staff treat the Mexican guests any differently than foreign guests. Although we have no plans, we would return and we would recommend.

Excellent resort! Will definitely go back.

My husband and I just got back from a week at the Royal Decameron Complex and we loved it! The resort is so interesting to look at with the bright colours and beautiful gardens. We were so impressed with how immaculate the grounds and beach were. We also couldn't get over how well set up the resort was and how organized the staff and crew are. It's clear they put a lot of thought into the guest experience when creating this resort. Food: We though the food was fantastic! The pastries we [... read more]re to die for and they clearly took time to study the international cuisines as that was some of the best lasagna I've ever had outside of Italy. The freshly made tortillas were second to none and the bread was exceptional. We also loved having freshly made tacos available every evening and the nacho bar was often frequented by me...a lot. Who doesn't love fresh salsa and guacamole? Accommodations: The rooms are basic but very clean and pretty comfortable. We actually did change rooms because our first room had a gap between the sliding doors that was letting the neighbour's cigarette smoke in and that bothered my husband's asthma, but the transition was really easy and efficient and they could not have been more accommodating. We ended up in a room by the adults only pool and it was amazing. So clean and well kept. They are certainly a hard working and conscientious group! Activities: This is not a place where one could get bored! They have all kinds of activities for all different age groups ranging from sports to crafts to yoga and then the independent water sports. The kayaking and boogie boards were a huge hit - especially in the waves. The iguana feeding time is particularly fun. I'm pretty sure it's for the children, but my husband and I joined in and had a great time seeing all of the iguanas at feeding time. Surrounding area: The beach is beautiful and great for walking. If you'd like to see some really great houses and condos along the beach, you'll love the walk in either direction. It appears to be in a fairly wealthy area of Bucerias with some really fantastic houses and interesting landscaping. The nearby flea market was pretty fun. We heard there was a market that was more for local people, but didn't get a chance to go there and were disappointed we didn't make the time. We'll absolutely go next time. Neither of us are big fans of touristy stuff, but the market we went to was still fun to walk around. Just know your prices before you go. All in all, it was a fantastic experience with top notch customer service and really, really great food. Vacationing with people who were mostly from Mexico was also great as we really felt immersed in the culture. I absolutely recommend it to others.
