Great Resort for Quite Relaxation

Very Clean Overall. Quiet and Relaxing atmosphere. Comfortable and Spacious Rooms. Older but clean..could use some renovating especially in Bathtub Fixtures. Beach very nice and clean. Buffet Restaurant offers lots of choice and food was quite good overall. Service/servers were excellent. Nightly entertainment was good but could use more variety. The staff (front desk,buffet restaurant, bar, groundskeepers) made us feel very welcome.

Great resort

Everything was good. Resort is getting a little tired but they are improving some things. Italian and Cuban restaurants could improve there food. I found the food in the buffet was better in April than in November. All in all was a good vacation.

Melia Cayo Coco

Grounds well groomed.Staff excellent/from chamber maids,grounds keepers, kitchen & bar staff. Food over the top. If any person said they were hungry they have a problem. This is our third visit & staff even remembered our names.Please note.. It is a resort where one goes to R & R. Remember it is not Veradero, where you can jump on a local bus & walk the city. Our second home!

My husband and I came here for our first wedding anniversary, Sept. 14-28, 2015. It was our second time at the Melia Cayo Coco (last year we were here for our honeymoon) and it felt like we came back home! Everything from the room, food and resort as a whole was perfect! However, like many comments, it was the staff that made it so incredibly special. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and helpful. However, we do have to single out a few who made it extra special. Omar from the breakfast [... read more] and lunch buffet was great! We never had to worry about an empty glass or dirty plate. Michel and his team at the poolside snack bar never missed a beat and service was always great, even bringing it to our loungers by the pool. Its a must to try their Melia Burger and Tropical Pizza! Oh and they do "take out" service too which is a nice treat if you want to have lunch right on the beach! Of course, Yamil at the beach bar is awesome! As well, Danielle Perez kept our room nice and clean, with the occasional towel sculpture on the bed. As for activities, Yandy at the Sports Center was great! We spent a bit of time doing the air rifle competitions with other guests, which was fun! Our excursions (with Air Canada Rouge) were super. We did the extravaganza one where we got to see "real" Cuba for the day! Bonus was the speed boat ride and crocodile reserve! I got to hold a baby crocodile! Also, we did the catamaran which took us to Pilar Beach! To avoid repeating ourselves, this was truly paradise and the moment we landed and felt the cold weather of Canada, we wanted to go back to the beautiful beach and resort! Fantastic vacation!

We celebrated my mothers' 80th birthday here. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The gardens were well maintained and beautiful to explore. Loved that the pool, beach and restaurants were all easy for my mother to get around easily and safely on her own. The food was excellent with lots of variety. This is my second vist here. I was first here with my husband 2 years previous and was not disappointed upon my second visit!

Difficult to review

I'll start with the pros: 1.Excellent food , by far best buffet we experienced in Cuba always fresh, choices were incredible , fish , shell fish , smoked salmom , beef , lamb , pork , you name it they had it. Fresh Fruit , fresh salads. Fresh donut station in the morning and afternoon. Just great food. 2.Excellent drinks, Top Shelf brands , drinks were awesome. You have to try the Lime Daiquiri 3.A la Cartes , Italian and International were very good, please do be aware that dress code is 100% e [... read more]nforced.(more on that later) We did not try the Cuban. Cons 1. Room wasnt ready when we got there at 4pm , an hour wait , no big deal , went to bar for a drink. 2.We booked a Junior Suite, once we got to our room we were not happy, the room was like a jail cell, closed in no view and dark. So we asked for another room, we went to see it and the room was still occupied, half naked man and woman(dressed) on bed. Obviously went we back to lobby unhappy. Next they offered us a deluxe suite, but at a charge of 68CUC/day extra. Went to see the room( on the Lagoon) and it just wasnt worth it to us, you didnt get much for the extra CUC's, so thats what we told them. So its around 5:30 no room, not checked in and we were asked to go to the lobby again and that someone would be right back. We did, 2 mins later they offered the room to us at 48CUC/day extra. We were tired and took the room. 2.The next day we met with our West Jet rep (Yvan) for the regular orientation. We asked to speak to Yvan after the meeting, we discussed what happened when we checked in Yvan was fantastic(perhaps this should be in the pro section)he took our check in mess to management and got back to us within 15 min. We were to keep the room we had at no extra cost. 3. THE LAGOON , OMG It is PUTRID You come out of your room and you are hit with this stence thats just digusting. The problem is that depending on the wind you smell this Lagoon in the lobby , at the snack bar and just going for walks. Accompanied with this Lagoon come the insects at night, brutal. They use foggers at the resort, but it's simply not enough. 4. Dress Code 100% enforced at International and Italian, not so much at Cuban We had a reservation for 7pm, I had on Ralph Lauren dress shorts(didnt pack long pants) and got refused , as we were waiting for the food and beverage Manager (Juan)a couple walked in, man had on jeans and sneakers, he got it. Make a long story short we did not get in even after speaking with Juan. We left unhappy. Juan did speak to us the next day and made it up to us, we got to have our a la cartes out doors which was very nice. Joseph our waiter out doors, was fantastic and funny !! Overall the staff at this resort were fantastic !! However our overall experience was only average. We choose this resort as it was rated #1 of 11 in Cayo Coco It did not live up to its ranking in our opinion. We won't return to this hotel , reason = LAGOON = STINKS Room Tip: Stay away from the Lagoon rooms, classic rooms are away from the Lagoon and much much cheaper See more room tips

Amazing,

This was our first trip to Cuba and we were blown away with the resort, the people and the service. We have travelled all over the Caribbean and were hesitant about Cuba but are thrilled we decided to go. The resort is a short drive from the airport (15 minutes) and we were worried our room wouldn't be ready since we arrived at 10 am.check in took 5 minutes and we were in our room 10 minutes later, and on the beach right after that. The beach is beautiful and the water clear and warm. The food w [... read more]as great. The beach bbq was delicious and two out of the three a la cartels were wonderful. Our meal at the Cuban restaurant was not that good but the view was nice. The staff are incredible and will bend over backwards to make sure your vacation is perfect!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone considering Cuba. We will be going back

Fantastic resort

This was my second time staying at this resort and my fifth time in Cuba. This is the best resort I've stayed at there. The service is excellent, the beach is beautiful, the entertainment is great. I will definitely go back.

Beautiful

Resort was clean and very well maintained. Beach was beautiful and clean. Had an excellent room over the lagoon. Food was great the service was outstanding. The resort was better then we expected. Highly recommend this resort.

Great resort

The Meliá CayoCoco is a beautiful intimate resort, friendly staff, great food, with good entertainment. The rooms are a little tired, with no privacy on balconies. There is no swim up bar in the pool, and the service at the a LA carte restaurants is very slow.

Great trip

Great resort, good food with several places to eat near the pool or near the beach, very clean, fabulous beach, friendly accommoding staff. My only complaints are not enough shade palapas around the pool, and expensive wifi.

Fabulous two weeks April 11-26.

Small but great resort. Clean, fantastic beach, endless choices of food in the buffet, entertainment in the lobby every night and staff catering to all your needs. Thank you Carlos the gardener, Joel and Hector at the smoothie bar, Jorge at buffett, Alex the entertainer and many more for making us feel at home.

Nice..clean..resort

I thought that the STAFF made the hotel. Definitely NOT a five star..but..a very comfortable hotel. You wanted for nothing..that's how accommodating the staff was.The beach was..of course...BEAUTIFUL. Only thing..need more shade around the pool area.

Quiet Hotel

The hotel was nice and clean. I enjoyed the food in the buffet and loved the la carte. The night entertainment was not very good and they did not have a pool bar. This resort would be great for couples that want to have a quiet vacation with no partying

Meticulously kept resort

Beautiful beach. The food was great! Everything was very fresh and the meat was grilled in front of you. Exceptionally clean. The room could have been updated but was very nice. The grounds-keepers were very friendly and added nice touches to ensure you were having a good day; ie: would make small animals out of the palm leaves. Nice souviner to take home.

Melia Cayo Coco - Great resort!

The grounds were very well kept and the staff very friendly and accommodating. The beach was the best part. We attended for a destination wedding and the ceremony was fantastic and the dinner excellent - the best food we had all week. The rooms were very nice and spacious. We were in a junior deluxe suite, very close to the beach which suited our needs. I would definitely recommend the Melia. It's a smaller resort with big personality. I just wish we had of been there to see the flamingos.

Really nice resort

Liked that this resort was small and intimate. Staff was always friendly and accommodating. Nice and picturesque to stroll around the complex in the evenings. The soft lighting and paths were very enjoyable. The snack bars and restaurants all served excellent food in abundance and variety.

It was a amazing Resort

The staff the service the ambiance the beach I can go on and on but the number 1 thing the FOOD 11 out of 10 ha loved it .Cuba is a very nice place to go if you like to see new things and explore loved it

Amazing resort...Enjoy every minutes of it

The minutes we walk in,we knew we were in for a treat. The staff was so nice and always with a smile. Never seen a bigger room(suite) are so beautiful and clean. Food for Cuba is really good,the beautiful garden always clean. Beautiful beach also. Thanks Melia for this nice hospitality. Always a pleasure to book with trip central. The staff a 10+
