Great view, nice beach and good food!

This resort is well maintained, even though it is a bit outdated. The landscaping and grounds were well groomed; rooms and restaurants need some updates. The service and staff are happy to assist when needed. The management should improve their entertainment programs and availability for beverages.

Great resort!

We really enjoyed this trip. The resort was beautifully maintained with lovely gardens. There was Friendly staff, good food, lots of activities, beautiful beach, excellent music and evening entertainment.

Nice Resort

Updated room very nice, excellent service. Any problems were fixed ASAP. Beach was beautiful! Bugs were bad from all the rain during our visit in early December. Have been in that area a year ago and no problem with bugs.

Not as good as I expected

They like return business and I think they respond well to direct contact with their sales manager. Our standard room was upgraded to a superior ocean view for no extra cost. Grounds and rooms are in good condition. Pillows are not good. Mattress isn't the best. TV and reception is good. Shower is very good. Food is ok but all 4 people in our group experienced minor intestinal issues for the 10 days we were there. This was our first experience with this issue in our 7 previous visits to cuba.  [... read more] The beach was a bit of a disappointment because if you catch high tides during the day you can't walk the beach and there is very little space at the beach to actually sun. The pool wasn't the best. It's small and the prime seats disappear quickly in the morning. I went to get our seats at 7:30 am. The resort wasn't near full capacity and they did not have enough seating on some days. Also crowding was an issue. Noise and behaviour of guests was an issue because of the high number of guests from la belle province. They seem to like to travel in large gruops. It seems like this a popular resort for them. The staff was good but, not exceptional. They weren't as outgoing as they are at other reorts we have visited. The dancers on a couple of nights was outstanding. Costuming was really good. A few weak nights but overall pretty good.

Good but could be much better

Very small resort but it made everything close and easy to get to. I thought they did a great job keeping the grounds up and was enjoyable to walk around. The biggest issue at this resort is the food. Fresh grill stations were great but premade food was terrible. Worst desserts we have had at a resort and breakfast, other then the omelet station was almost dreadful. The lobby area was fantastic other then the wicker seats...very uncomfortable as they are missing all the cushions. Management said [... read more] they were on order so hopefully they will fix this issue because lobby is a great place to hang out. Loved the entertainment in the evenings in the lobby, local musicians were very enjoyable. Shows were terrible other then the Broadway night. With a few tweaks here and there this could be a great resort rather then just ok. They have to correct the quality and variety of the food. Also, I was getting tired of having the cook staff whispering to us that they would secretly sell and cook us up some lobster.

Average resort.

The grounds of the hotel is good, well maintained, nice and clean. Beach is amazing. Lobby bar is open at 8 AM-late, in most resorts in Cuba bars are open at 6AM-cup of coffee for people living early in the morning for airport. Charge for safety box in room - first time at Cuban resorts-visited Cuba 11 times. Room is nice and clean. Food is monotonous, every day is the same, luck of fruits-surprise?

Fantastic Beach! Amazing Staff!

Resort staff are very friendly, provided excellent service and smile always. Food is OK never left restaurant hungry or not satisfied. If you dont eat fish, you're in trouble. The Italian Restaurant was great. Resort is older but they're in process of renovating rooms. Grounds and common area`s are immaculate. Water pressure could be better and hotter. The Beach was very clean...simply awesome. The Entertainment Team was Brilliant and the Kids Club was just fabulous.

Lovely Vacation

If you're looking for a beautiful Cuban beach to spend the days on, this resort is NOT for you. The beach was tiny, and dirty. Did not enjoy the snorkelling there but pilar beach is not far. The staff was amazing, and they made my trip amazing. Night entertainment was awesome! So much dancing and we even got a majic show one night. The hotel is what it is. Great deal, relaxing stay.

First of all, let's be honest, this isn't a North American 5 star hotel, so please don't go if that is what you are looking for. The cost is cheap, so basically you get what you pay for. Our hotel room (we upgraded to a superior double room), wasn't the most modern; however the room was clean and always kept clean by the housekeeping staff. Both my daughter and I had aching backs each morning from the hard bed, and poor pillow...but some people prefer hard beds...I just don't. This was my third time in Cuba, and I certainly can't say I go for the food; however I thought the food was good for Cuba. I was able to have a salad with my lunch and dinner (never was able to before in Cuba) and there was enough options to choose from. The beach sand was the texture of cornstarch so quite nice. There is a bit of seaweed in the water and on the shore, but the workers cleaned up the beach every morning. Lots of chairs to choose from, although that could be because we went off season. The only thing I was disappointed about was the customer service wasn't always great. The wait staff certainly had some serious shining stars who really went above and beyond, but the rest, well...not so attentive. All in all, for the price I will not complain. I got plenty of sun, lots to eat and drink and had an extremely relaxing vacation.

Very pleasant resort

The rooms were very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. Nice small resort with pool and beach close to all rooms. Our room was in the Varedaro and the view from our balcony was great! The only complaint was no 24 hour bar or snack bar available. No place to get coffee before 8 o'clock and no coffee makers in rooms. Food choice was not exciting. Lobster hut on the beach was excellent.

Great Trip

Our room was attached to a suite and seemed to be a little smaller than what we expected! Upon arrival, my wife spotted a big cockroach on the door frame between the suite and our room. We reported this to front desk and the lady offered to spray our room. We did not want to stay in a room for a whole week where insecticide was sprayed and declined her offer. Thankfully, we did not see another unwelcome critter after the first day. The view of room was great as we had an ocean view room. It troubled us to see a worker spraying insecticide in the resort in the morning and evening without wearing any protective gear. These workers deserve better protection for their health sake. The kitchen staff were very friendly and we made some friends there. Was a Good trip for the price we paid.

Saw the ocean from the lobby

Liked this resort because it was on the smaller size. Around 300 rooms in total. You didn't have to walk miles to go from room to eat, or walk to pool or beach. The grounds are lovely and looked after. The staff take great care with their jobs. Had two pools side by side. Nice. Too many kids for my liking. I went to the beach instead. Building was close to the pool/lobby/buffet. Sometimes when we would enter room you could smell sewer smell. Weird. Also the shower curtain was hanging by clear fishing line. Very strange. If you go take Kleenex and face clothes. Resort doesn't have. Also bug spray. I would go back if the food was improved. You can't eat the same food for a week. Lots of people had upset stomachs at end of trip. Mine included, took almost a week to get better.

Nice resort

I am not one to complain about little things in life, the resort and stay was well worth the money. Thanks to all the people at the resort that made to week fly by way to fast. Food was good beaches were beautiful.

Excellent Resort

The hotel was very clean. Everyone was so friendly! Always something to do! Games to play throughout the day some of them with prizes. The food was much better than I expected and the nightly entertainment was excellent. I would highly recommend this resort.

Great Experience

We had an amazing vacation. The beaches are to die for and really that was the main reason we chose Cayo Coco. The resort is good in general, but there can be some improvements with the food. It was our first time in Cuba and we have heard that food in Cuba is not good. I wouldn't say that, since we alsways found something good to eat, however it could definitevely be better compared for instance to other Resorts in other Caribean islands we've been. Great Family Resort

We were really happy with this resort. Great for families with small children. It is not too big or overwhelming for our 2 year old. Any requests we had were all addressed right away by friendly staff.

Good family vacation

Overall a good vacation for the affordable price. Friendly and pleasant staff, clean accommodations and the beach is by far the reason to go to this resort. Food was quite good if you try their local dishes, hot dogs and hamburgers are quite different from what we are used to in North America. The on site restaurants were great but book early as there are not very many reservation spots. The shows were good for evening entertainment. They had a great kids area for the younger kids but needed more activities for older kids.

Iberostar daiquiri

Over all had a great time.there was a shortage of beach towels. We didnt get a single one all week. Mexican restaurant was by far the best food all week. Was not impressed with a lot of the service, never happy or appreciative of tips or friendly towards everyone. The bar closed at 1 am which is ridiculous. Bartenders were pouring themselves beers but told us it was closed. Snack bars also closed early. Except for old hamburgers that were left out all day. The maid was lazy and tried giving us d [... read more]irty towels off the floor. Also used toilet water for the mop! Over all it was very clean and a nice resort. Not a huge resort. Met great people and the live music was awesome. I'd say perfect resort for a family. Not an optimal party resort and theres nothing close by. The nearest town is over 2 hours away.

Amazing Getaway Home for a Week

The open concept of the hotel made for a nice cool breeze throughout the day and night. The place was always clean and the staff were very nice and friendly. The view was simply breathtaking. For sure a do-over vacation!!! at this resort!!!

The worst resort in Cayo Coco

We decided to take a last minute trip to the iberostar daiquiri. The resort is small and compact that's what we liked and obviously the beaches were fantastic. However prepare yourself to starve for the week. The food was garbage and the staff were all rude. They catered to the Spanish, if you waited in line for your food you wouldn't get it if you weren't Spanish. We overall didn't like our experience or the maid. I slept on my dirty clothes most of the trip. Stay somewhere else my advice to you.
