Rms were clean. Minor issues which go resolved. Got our exercise with all the levels. Lots of staff. Beach was not long but you still could manage a walk... Had a nice time ..... Very relaxing and laid back

Great Resort

We just returned from a 7 day stay at Cofresi (April 6 - 13). Had a fabulous and relaxing time! The grounds are very clean and well kept, room was a bit outdated but clean and did the trick for us (sleep & shower)! Food was really good, highly recommend The Asian and Italian a la cartes, buffet was very good as well, great variety! The VIP party and the Sunday night party was supperb!! Resort is pretty big with lots of stairs but there is shuttles going on a regular basis. Beware of the guys in  [... read more]the beige shirts unless interested in a time share - you will loose a half day of your vacation!! I would go back for sure!!

Great resort if you are a member

the resort is nice and clean, food is good, service is ok, the vip parties are amazing but in order to enjoy everything the y have to offer you need to be a lifestyle member, they really try hard to get you to join this.makes you feel like you are inferior to others if you don't have a vip bracelet, so would I go back .... ummm no thanks

Great resort

Just got back on the 10th.had a great time!!lots to keep you busy or you can just relax!Recommend upgrade to junior suite!!!beautiful!!!service was great especially Edward and bar staff!!Food was good especially dominican restaurant!!The only drawback was the STEPS!!!There are lots!!!! Would definately return!

Awwesome resort

Rooms were fabulous.. Very clean and safe..great service.. Alot of steps to walk but shuttle sevice was great..excursions were great as well as the entertainment..staff was friendly and helpful.. Restaurants were well organized and food great..

Quick get away for two!

We loooooooved our stay at this resort. We read a lot of reviews before booking. Keep in mind we were searching for a great deal and hoping we we would get lucky. For this resort the price was right for our last minute retreat and we were prepared to get what we paid for. In the end it exceeded our expectations. Meeting people around the resort we heard stories of people not having hot water, hating the food, finding bugs in their room. I would agree with some of the reviews I had read before leaving, which was this resort is not for you if you don't want to climb some stairs. The beach is all the way down and the main pool and buffet is at the top. We didn't mind as or room was in the middle. The beach was just ok, you can walk down the beach, go for a swim and there were lots of activities such as parasailing, tubing, etc. but the main beach area that is shown in some of the pictures is actually up off the beach in a glass fenced in area so you weren't as close to the water as I would have liked. We ended up spending the majority of our time at the pools which was great because there are lots of them!:) All in all we had a great trip. Nice room, good food, friendly staff. I would go back again!

Nice resort, but very hilly.

We had a nice room overlooking the ocean. Make sure you get the upgrade because the rooms in the older section are very small and outdated. The food and service at the buffet and the Italian a la carte were excellent. The beach had a lot of seaweed and was quite murky, but the pools were good. The whole resort is built on a hill, so from the beach up to the lobby was a minimum of 5-6 flights of stairs with uphill pathways in between....a bit tiring if you're making that trek several times a day. [... read more] We enjoyed our trip for the most part, but would not book at this resort again.

Beautiful resort!

Vary pools, excellent restaurants, duty-free shop; we recommend jewelries, gifts and trips at the resort and not from outside even if you are tempted to take the "half price" deals. It sounds too good to be good!

Not the greatest trip..

Grounds : Buildings are lovely and numerous! The resort is absolutely huge and shuttles must be taken to get to some locations. Shuttles can sometimes take a little bit of time to come, but are fast and efficient when they are there. The resort is built on a hill, and as such, there are a tonne of stairs! From our room, which was not all that far away from the lobby, we still had to walk about 4 sets of stairs (40-50 steps). To the beach was even further. Accommodations: Rooms are okay at best. [... read more] You cannot drink the water, or use the water from the taps for anything that will be consumed - even brushing your teeth will require bottled water. The housekeeping staff will come and replenish your bottled water daily. Speaking of housekeeping - they do not knock and wait for your response. If you have not put your sliding lock on, they will barge in without a moments notice - regardless of what is going on in the room. This happened to us at least 5 times. The air conditioning goes off every day for a couple of hours around 1-3pm. Likely a money saving venture that does not inconvenience too many people - but the rooms do become quite hot very quickly. The cleanliness of the rooms is not top notch, I would not consider the rooms worthy of their 4 stars. There is black mold on many things in the bathroom - grout and toilet roll hanger to start. The housekeeping staff puts small flowers in your bathroom for your first day - throw these out immediately as by night time thousands of tiny bugs will be running around your sink. Restaurants and Bars: The buffets are very hit or miss. I lived off of chicken burgers and potato salad for the week, but there are some options that others might enjoy. I was being very safe not to get sick - and typically like to stay away from stews and soups that I cannot tell what is in them. Breakfast is okay - bacon is often gone and scrambled eggs are very watery. The a-la-carte restaurants are fantastic! My personal favourite was the Blue Lagoon - their Filet Mignon was to die for! When you first get settled in your room, an envelope will appear under your door with your three guaranteed reservations for the a-la-carte restaurants. When the day of your reservation comes, if you would like to change it, you must walk up the 45 steps to the main lobby and go to guest services, wait in line, speak with a representative, and ask to change the restaurant/time. In most cases, they cannot guarantee your changes, and will send another envelope under your door that night. Which means you have very little time to get your envelope, see your reservation, and in some cases then travel all the way across the resort to get to your meal on time. It becomes quite a hassle. The bars are okay. During the day they are plentiful, but most close at 5:00pm, leaving only the main lobby bars open. Which means that, again, you are clomping up potentially 60-70 stairs (from the beach) to get a drink. The pools are all closed at 7:00pm, but the bars beside them have been closed for two hours already by that time - it just seemed really silly. Staff: Staff were generally okay. Their moods, and helpfulness, increased greatly when there was money in your hand. I adored Pablo at the Ying Yang spa - and actually everything about the Ying Yang Spa as a whole. Beaches: Despite having many beaches, non-VIP persons are really subjected to one small beach. It is definitely not the white sands and perfect blue beach that everyone hopes for. In fact, it is very wavy, with patches of rocks. The sand is often unclean and littered. Cabanas, hammocks, and chairs are available and plentiful. The VIP beaches are much better, with clean sand and gorgeous water, but they will cost you. My biggest complaint : Would definitely have to be the constant up-sell. If you do not go to the meeting at the beginning of your trip, you will be accosted daily at breakfast by "tour guides" who would like to sell you a membership to the lifestyle resort. This membership is similar to a timeshare scam, and costs thousands of dollars. They are able to sell this because half of the resort is off limits to regular visitors, and with the membership, you are allowed access to the nicer beaches and restaurants. This on it's own definitely made the trip less enjoyable, but even once you got to the beach, there were constantly people coming up to you trying to get you to spend more money - Chukka water sports, spa services, even two men with a parrot and a camera. There was constantly someone trying to sell you something, which made relaxation difficult sometimes.

Fantastic Vacation Spot

The Cofresi resort is set between the ocean and the mountains providing a panoramic breathtaking view of both. The romantic scenery of the villas between the palm trees and floral gardens set on a hillside is truly memorable. The many different types of pools provided areas for different groupings of people - for families and adults. There were pools that had quiet areas for reading, and then the party pools with the upbeat music and party atmosphere. The accommodations were clean and well kept each day with fresh linens, towels and lots of bottled water and a mini fridge for your personal use. They included shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, sewing kits, combs, etc. We were quite impressed as we had been to other resorts that didn't provide these things. Beautiful balcony with comfortable furnishings overlooking this tropical paradise. The staffs' motto was "we are here to serve you" they were friendly and polite and did whatever they could to make your vacation comfortable. There were 9 of us who travelled on the trip and we all had a wonderful time. They made sure that my friends and I were able to enjoy the al la cart dining opportunities as a group. The food was fantastic! We enjoyed Asian, Italian, and Mexican cuisine with an endless supply of fantastic wine and margaritas. The buffets were also top notch with fresh cooked omelets, pancakes, bacon, etc every morning made to order. I truly enjoyed the trip it was truly a great vacation.

Relaxing

Some parts were a solid 3.5 while others were 4. I enjoyed the resort for relaxing and down time while the party option was also available. Bar service was sub par but buffet was great, and other staff friendly.

Stairs

This hotel is not for older people or people with mobility problems .Too many steps . the food was great .Service was wonderful. entertainment was awesome. The dancers were so full of energy .If there weren't so many steps everywhere it would have been wonderful. I was tired out just getting from one place to another .The Sunday night party was great .Lots of food and entertainment.

Beautiful resort......rooms were standard.

We did enjoy our time at the Cofresi Palm. No suprises as I had read a lot of the comments on this resort on Trip Advisor, so had a good idea of what to expect. It is a HUGE resort, no doubt. But transportation to and from both hotels (Cofresi Palm and the Tropical) was well organized and wait times were minimal. Rooms were okay. As this was our first time at a resort, I found that 1 week would have been long enough. We are used to locations where you are not restricted to the resort and can venture outside (city center, etc.) on our own, but it was not the case with this particular location, so we felt a bit confined. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the many ‘A La Carte’ restaurants and the 2 all inclusive buffet restaurants. The food was very good and selection varied. The evening shows were great especialy the Sunday night Welcome party which was ‘AMAZING’. Some hotel employees were great, others no so great. No specifics, but a general observation All in all, no major complaints. We would not go back simply because the resort ‘Lifestyle’ is not our cup of tea. But we also have no regrets in having tried it.

Wonderful Resort

Just got back from a 10 day vacation at Cofresi Palms Beach and Spa Resort. Have little complaints. It's part of the Lifestyles Vacation resorts which treat their members like gold. You can travel by trolly or walk between Tropical reosort and other residence suites. The tropical side is much more formal than Cofresi so we went to their shows at the colesseum and found their buffet better also. Very short walk there. Yes, real donairs, the same as home on the east coast!!! Amazing. They have a welcome party on Sunday nights with live bands, fireworks and more food than you can possible imagine (turkey, chicken, pork, beef, vegs, seafood, amazing dessert bar etc.) A party you don't want to miss! The beach is what you would expect for the Puerta Plata side of the Dominican, not like Punta Cana with white sand. Many pools, always got a chair no matter what time of day it was, never had to wait in line at buffet for food. Only negative would be it is built on a hill with 82 stairs from the beach to the lobby, however, you do not need to climb them, there is a trolly every few minutes to take you any where you want to go. There is a not so pleasant sewer smell around the 200-300 buildings certain times of the day. All staff were very pleasant and very accommodating. Would definitely go back again.

Decent place

It was a decent place to stay , food was fine , beds comfy . Lots of walking as the resort is build on a hill , that was fine with me to climb stairs and such but if you have mobility issues it would be a tough go . Beach was small for long walks because it's in a bay . Overall I would not return as it was good but so much out there to explore and it wasn't one of the greatest places I have visited .

AMAZING TRIP

we booked a trip on line. looking for a trip to dominion republic I come across trip central vacations looked at the trips was available and found a great resort. called up the rep and booked four tickets that night. the service was great!!!!!!!!!!

What a Vacation!!

We had a great trip. The Junior suite was a very nice room and the VIP beach was fantastic. We were treated like royalty. The buffet food was good but the East Indian food at the Moomtaz restaurant was incredible!

Amazing resort

Food was great, so many different places to see, close to airport, clean rooms, helpful staff... the only less than perfect part is that the beach isn't the white sand. No on bothered us on the beach, lots of drink varieties. Loved it, will go again.

Great resort

The resort is very nice and calm., The meals were very good and there was a good variety. Great events, BBQ on the beac;h nice pools.Staff very nice. The rooms could be renovated. but always clean. I would go back any time.

Awesome Time

Confresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort was fantastic. Kids club staff were amazing. Food was fresh and prepared in front of you, the motto of the staff was "we work for you" and they did not disappoint. Drinks were free flowing and the facility was better than expected. The highlight of the week was definitely the welcome party under the stars with world class entertainment and a full fireworks display. A perfect repreive from the seemingly endless winter.
