Amazing Resort

We spent one glorious week at the Royal Hicacos Resort. The room was perfect, the food was excellent - lots of variety and always available, the service was awesome - staff would take the time and ask us if we needed anything. The beach and pools were wonderful. We will definitely return to this Resort. Thanks to the staff at Tripcentral for all their expertise and guidance.

Great week !

I had been to Royal Hicacos 5 or 6 times but not in the last 6 years . I was simply amazed that many of the staff recognized me and did their absolute best to make us comfortable......it felt like going home to friends

Beautiful Resort.

Grounds very well groomed. Food always plenty for the masses. Service was great. Pools were nice and fun. Beach was long and lots of waves. Rooms were nice but the single ply toilet paper to wipe hands etc. needs to change especially for a Sandals.

Food was great ,best so far in Varadero ,staff was exselent , but best of all beautiful beach and ocean. Great times. For people who love cats there are two cats in 24 h restoran and 3 cats on the beach. Please give them some food. I recommend this resort and have a good time.

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful experience at the Royal Hicacos Resort and Spa - not one complaint. The resort was a smaller one which we like and the grounds were well kept. We encountered one problem with our room's washroom which was immediately attended to. There was always a good variety of food in the buffets and the food was always tasteful, both in the buffets and a la cartes. Access to premium brand liquor was available. Service was always tops. We would definitely return.

Good value for your money

Rated pool/beach low because pools need updates. Beach is a 5. Not sure what odour drifts by, smells like sewage from resort. Booking a la cartes through concierge was frustrating. Good value for money

Amazing Resort!

Was just beginning to undergo renovations when we arrived, however the service was excellent. The beach is probably one of the nicest I've been to, nice and wide with powdery white sand. The food was great at the buffet, lots to choose from. Try the a la carts - they are amazing! The entertainment is top notch, you will enjoy! The staff are excellent, very customer service oriented. Enjoyed our week at the Royal Hicacos!

Amazing vacation! !

My boyfriend and I went to the Royal Hicacos resort and spa from the 13th of July to the 20th. We had an amazing time. The resort was clean and the grounds were really well kept. We took a private tour to Havana that was organized by Guille. It was a nice experience. I highly recommend visiting Havana. The beach is breathtaking. The water was very warm. Amazing Resort

The hotel was under renovations but did not interfere with our holiday ,rooms spotless 1st rate, excellent staff most helpful, location great close to transit for town, Buffet and A la Cart restaurants food great,beaches pristine ,great reception upon arrival by private van, and a glass of Champagne . Hoping to return for our 50th Anniversary in March 2015 with friends

What is that hotel called?

This hotel had its name changed three times whilst we we there. The last name we heard of was that it was going to be called Blue Diamond. I would recommend this hotel once they decide on who ownership or organization runs this resort.

Nice resort!

This was our first trip to Cuba and we chose this resort because it was an adults only, not that the kids really bother us, but for a change. We were very impressed upon arriving here. Staff were very friendly and check-in was fast since they had the rooms already set up for us. Our first problem was dirt in the first room and they quickly got us into another room. So they put us in the new section for the first night and had us in a closer section to where we wanted by the next day. All week th [... read more]e front staff knew our names and greeted us! This resort is under repair and has been purchased by another company and will be fully updated in the next year. The architecture and gardens are beautiful. I can't say a bad word about the place except the cockroach on our final night when my hubby had arranged the room to be covered with rose petals and champagne but we also got a cockroach delivered! I was not impressed and had them come get rid of it ASAP but I barely slept. They explained the sewer treatment centre is across the street but they are spraying and getting a handle on the situation. I was to receive an email for a discounted next stay for this but have not. Hopefully it's coming because I would go back! The rooms are a great size and the balconies are great for enjoying ur morning coffee or evening glass of wine! The food is delicious. Those that say Cuba food is bland will be impressed by this resort. We did find that the buffet was the best place to eat. Although breakfast at the beach bar is heavenly!! Unfortunately we discovered their amazing Crepes on the last day or I'm sure we would have had those every day!! We were very impressed with the entertainment team. Having live singers each night in their dance routines was amazing. Being a competitive dance Mom I was extremely impressed with the quality of their performances. We only missed a show the night we went to the Tropicana!! The beach is beautiful but the sand gets real hot by noon! We walked for miles each day. Oh and sunset is spectacular especially when having dinner at the beach! There will always be something at any resort that someone will complain. But this resort is clean and they have a lot of staff working day & night to keep it up. I look forward to seeing the changes and will definitely be back.

Amazing resort

Always enjoying Cuba.....First time to Varadero. Our usual destination is in Cayos. While down at the beach I immediately noticed the difference in the beach sand. The beach sand in the Cayos is like fine white pepper. Varadero is a little more coarse. If you can transport this "Resort" onto one of the beaches in the Cayos. You would have found paradise. Exceptional resort

Service, food and grounds are amazing. Second time at the resort and everything was a good as the first. Can't wait to go again this year. Took the parents last time with my boyfriend. May go back to get married. Looking forward to it.

Loved it!

Best stay in Cuba! Resort is beautiful as it was a Sandals. The beach is wonderful and everything is walking distance because the resort isn't massive. Rooms are very nice Nd the balcony was wonderful. The food was really good - food is definitely getting better. We were there for New Year's Eve and it was a real treat! Party favors amazing entertainment - a fun time!

Gorgeous Hotel

Excellent food at all times, lots of choice, friendly staff, no loud mouthed Americans, lovely beach and no crowding around pools. Awesome coffee too! We loved the pool area and the beach was great too, although we are more users of the pool area. Would definitely go back. Loved the piano bar.

Excellent couples resort. A bit dated.

Excellent service, incredible beach, and food was top notch for Cuba. Night time entertainment shows were great, but the overall night life was pretty dull. Definitely a couples resort. I found the rooms to be very dated and a bit dirty. Also they decided to do a gigantic renovation of the main lobby and bar, which we were not aware of until we arrived.

Great resort!

The resort and service was excellent. The beach bar restaurant and beach was amazing. The rooms were roomy and clean. The night shows were well done particularly the Micheal Jackson tribute. Great vacation.

Amazing resort

We had a great vacation during our entire stay. The staff was very kind and professional, the food was well above Cuban average, rooms spacious and clean and, last but not least, fantastic beach with paradise water.

Can't complain!!

FOOD: the made-to-order stuff was great (omelettes, crepes, steak/ribs/beef/chicken/pork, fish) but prepared foods were hit or miss. Seasonings and spices were scant. I enjoyed the Cuban chips. BEACH/POOLS: always cabanas available, beach was gorgeous (best part!), pools/grounds well kept and staff kept us entertained. ROOMS: first room we were given was musty and awful, so we requested another (closer to gym and beach) and it was fantastic. Big roomy shower, robes, sitting area, veranda. This hotel was the best we have ever stayed at.Good food,pleasing entertainment. Makes you want to return again, Beach perfect. Staff very polite and friendly. Enjoyed taking the double decker bus to the markets. Also the fashion show featuring crochet outfits for both men and women.All the lobster you can eat on Wed
