Brisas Sierra Mar: Beautiful mountains, ok resort

Hotel needs a little loving (pool liner was ripped), not much choice for food but what we ate was good and the two à la carte restaurants were great. The room was clean and the beds nice and firm. Beautiful mountain views, and village life close by. Not the resort for people who are looking for a prestige beach, the sand is brown ( we knew that before booking ) but there is also lots of algae in the water, it felt more like a giant lake. Last but not least , there's a great little restaurant at the entrance if the resort, the Oceano, they serve amazing scampi for only 12 cucs

Brisas Sierra Mar: Terrible Hotel

I think that it is an awfull Hotel and will never go back there. The food was awful, the treadment of guest was also bad. Not good. The food was old and recycled. The beach was full of weeds. The Hotel did not offer anything in the mini bar and the swimming pool was broken.

Brisas Los Galeones: relaxing retreat

Perched on a high hill, this is a comfortable adults-only resort with mostly affable staff. Nearly 300 steps to a beach with pebbly water made that an endeavour, but it's fine once you get there (and can climb back up). Staff make a great effort to serve lunch on the beach. The same hill makes jaunts to the nearby town an endeavour, especially in the heat. Three times a week a bus makes a daytime excursion to the all-ages sister resort of Sierra Mar, but evening excursions (for dinner variety a [... read more]nd a show) were not mentioned and seemingly unavailable -- though the Sierra Mar manager told us on the last day that they should have been. No other excursions were offered, and even taxis weren't often visible. So bring books to read, mingle with other guests, and relax. P.S. Friends who learned of a family emergency back home couldn't get hold of the Hola Sun rep on a weekend. And a ride to the Holguin airport (provided by the front desk manager!) cost 200 CUC, which seems excessive.

Brisas Sierra Mar: Great!

Beautiful place! Good food but a bit blan (needs spices), Nice excursions, excellent tour guide, excellent resort doctor, beach had too much stones at the bottom, pool nice but needs upkeep, needs more family oriented entertainment as it was a bit seductive at night. Overall- great!

Brisas Los Galeones: Lovely quiet hotel

The grounds were lovely, our room had everything we could want or need, with a fantastic view. The service staff was helpful and friendly. The food of course, left much to be desired, but we expected that so were not surprised. There's a lovely village down the hill, a beach about 300 steps straight downward, and a sister hotel with a closer beach and internet that could be accessed by shuttle. The only sour note here was that we had to leave after several days due to a family emergency at home, [... read more] and oddly, the manager of the hotel took upon himself the job of taxi driver to get us to Holguin airport for an exorbitant price. We discovered later that the usual price was about half of what he demanded from us. We did not discover that our driver was the manager until the hour we were leaving. We were told there was no taxi driver available, but we believe that because there was a large amount of money to be made, the manager grabbed the opportunity for himself!

Carisol los Corales: not as good as it was

we were there 4 years ago but won't be going back.The food was not very good and the same thing every meal, no orange juice.The food was always cold.The resort is still nice and the rooms were good but many people, us included had items stolen from our balcony

Brisas Los Galeones: Incredible Destination in Cuba

Los Galeones in Cuba is a special resort for anyone wanting to be truly "unplugged" in the sunshine. My partner and I had both been to Cuba before, always at larger resort hotels with 100+ rooms, couple of pools, 3 or 4 restaurants and buffets. Very nice, but always very busy. This time we searched for a smaller hotel resort that would offer a more quiet surrounding, but with all of the conveniences. Los Galeones gave us just that. Excellent staff who would accommodate you in anyway. The rooms were simple, but clean, each offering a view of the ocean or the scenic town and bay below. Food was authentic Cuban each day - fresh breads, bbq chicken, ribs, salads. Local goat cheese and eggs and fruit. We enjoyed a fresh coconut water each morning on the private beach. Oh yes, the beach. There are 285 steps to walk down to get to the private beach. Really great setting. We enjoyed a bbq lunch there each day. Each evening a small band would come and entertain the guests. Well done! We walked into the town of Chivarico a couple of times. There is a great little restaurant at the bottom on the mountain. Call before you go and they will let you know what they have - we enjoyed the fresh caught fish and rice. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to just get away and relax. We will go back

Costa Morena: A Sensory Delight:)

EYE candy for the nature lover. A temporary Power failure turned the sky into a wonderland. Animals grazing day and night. HEAR the sound of water hitting the reefs a yogi delight:) FEEL the pebbles tickling your toes, in the seas natural pond. INHALE the musk of foliage, leather, sea salt and other causes:) TASTE of cafe con leche in mañana , rice and cheese always nice, simple ingredients keep me healthy and light! Moy Bien oxox

Carisol los Corales: Fantastic location

The grounds were well groomed and clean of any debree. The staff where amazing. Very friendly and helpful. They always had a smile on the face. As for the night shows, don't waste your time, there were a big yawn. Location was great. Put your walking shoes on and hit the flea markets and restaurants. Just steps outside the door. Some fresh paint on the exterior of the buildings would make this resort feel like a 5 star. The quality of the good in the buffet was 4 star but as for the snack bars,  [... read more]stay away. Long wait times and u will b very disappointed with the quality. There really was not activitie crews for games and dancing so u will have to entertain yourself. Overall I would recommend this hotel as a 3 star . If u want great location and a reasonable price, go ahead and book now. Happy travels.

Carisol los Corales: Great holiday!!

Weather was amazing. Beautiful big pool but the bottom liner was ripped in areas and you had to tread carefully. Beach is very rocky, water shoes needed. Excellent for snorkeling - lots of coral reefs. A lot of dogs at this resort (bring dog treats if going here). Staff especially the bar staff were great! Rooms were clean and the washrooms recently renovated and nice and big with lots of hot water. The food was very disappointing but the Cuban a la carte was good. Carisol los Corales: Not bad for the money.

The resort and the food were ok. This was our first time to Cuba. We went in knowing what to expect. The Cuban residents were very friendly. The weather and shore snorkeling was amazing. The water was so warm. Arriving and departing from the airport was a breeze. I would only recommend this resort to someone that has a limited budget.

Brisas Sierra Mar: Very enjoyable 3.5* resort - well worth a visit

A well needed two week break 'March 19 - to April 2' that my wife and I enjoyed. This is correctly rated 3.5*. The trip in from the airport was excellent due to the LONG AWAITED new road (Chinese built) and comfortable buses. The weather was very nice ad hot, albeit the surrounding farms are suffering from a lack of rain (big time). The pros: - nice pool and beach area and related bars (i don't drink but they make great coffee) - the entertainment in the lobby is very good (bands / singers in th [... read more]e evening 6-9 and the usual 9 pm shows ....) - love the Cuban a la cart restaurant - also the International. The buffet is adequate. - the Hola Sun rep Elbert is very helpful and organized - Most of the Cubans are very friendly ( and as with any culture the tips help big time) - we had a room on the 4th floor which was 3* comfortable (bring an extra pillow - you won't be sorry) - The maids and cleaning staff work so hard - treat them good please, as are most of the staff The cons: - They are insane about tipping - they want tips but rarely have change at the desk. So obviously they are sneaking their tips out of the resort (just a guess). They need to GET ORGANIZED. - Cuban nationals stay at the resort which is nice BUT the way they hog the food is a disgrace. They will actually raid the buffet of certain essentials etc. (watch as they take mounds of bacon etc. - and i have yet to see a Cuban guest tip (even in their local currency). - I witnessed a lot of what looks like out-right theft. The resort workers passing bags of food and wine in bags to their Cuban guests etc (how do i get some lol :) - really this resort has such great potential - BUT THESE PEOPLE CAN BE SOOO FRUSTRATING - the resort workers are a privileged class and in SOME cases that goes to the head :( they need to rotate the workers (OTHERWISE THEY BECOME TOO ENTITLED ). Would i go there again? - IN A FLASH :)

Carisol los Corales: Northern Coast is Better

Check in was smooth but only one key available for the room. The room was clean and the maid service was excellent. Ours was the only room without a door handle only a deadbolt that had to be locked from either side so the one key issue was a pain the patio door didn't have a lock or handle and was kept closed with a stick!!! The air conditioner worked well but we had to stuff toilet paper around the unit to keep the bugs out which wasn't much help as the vent in the bathroom went into an open u [... read more]tility closet beside our room. Take sandals or beach shoes with you as the beach area is full of coral and very hard to walk on, the water here is full of coral so we didn't swim as much as we like.The buffet was a horror, exact same food every day for a week,scavenger hunt after you grab a table for cutlery but the birds bugs and moths don't seem to mind. The saving grace was Francisco at the pool bar although we aren't pool people he was entertaining and all around great to be with. Be careful as the place is a walking death trap, open holes and broken tiles everywhere. This is the only trip we have been on where people came back on the plane in casts.This is the only trip my wife has been on where she feels financially assaulted.

Brisas Los Galeones: simply charming

Perfect simplicity. Low key, barefoot and delightful staff. The beach was gorgeous with ample shade and snorkeling right there. Lunch at the beach was the best. Dining outdoors in the evening with live music in the background was really appealing.

Carisol los Corales: laid back resort

When we pulled up to the hotel I was mortified!! Was not at all like the pictures. Our rooms were missing towel racks,,our doors were cracked,,the patio door had no locks,,the sewer smell in our room was unbearable,, shower heads were not attached etc when we were moved across to upstairs rooms in another building it was totally different. Brisas Los Galeones: Excellent Resort for Seniors

We liked the Resort very well and will be back there. The Personal is going out of there way in friendliness and service. The only complain we have is that the lounges at the Beach from 30 there are 25 broken. At the Pool there are 30 Lounges but only 4 Umbrellas to get some shade. We been told that there are new Lounges laying in the sister Resort del Mar, waiting to be shipped to Los Galeones. We hope this will happen, this will be a Question I will ask before I book again. Carisol los Corales: OK

I had read all the reviews prior to booking so my expectations were low. The cappucino's were good and we enjoyed the fresh pasta at lunch. We were disappointed with the beach; you can really only snorkel. Trip to the city by cabby George was fun, swimming with dolphins was incredibly cheap. No regrets, I'm glad we went. It is a beautiful part of Cuba. Bring clothes, toothpaste, soap, shoes. We gave away as much as we could.

Carisol los Corales: it was a very laidback and homy experience

the people who worked there did it for me. they are nice and friendly and willing to help anytime. the place needs a little bit of work but you don't stay in your room when you vacation. you don't have to rush to get beach chair, they have it in abundance. we made friends while we are there and we stayed connected coming back to Canada. the gardeners and security people, please tip them as they don't get as much as the bartenders/servers/cleaners do. I will come back for sure! I love how safe it [... read more] is. the teenagers stay up late and was forced to be social due to no wifi ( thanks god!) and you don't have to worry about it. my daughter and some friends stayed in contact through social media as well so that was a good experience. I cant complain! security and friendliness is something that I would rave about this resort!

Carisol los Corales: Amazing Staff

Spent a wonderful two weeks at Corales in February thanks to the graciousness of a well educated staff. I especially recommend the poolside activities for those wishing to keep fit with stretching, Aqua Fit and other programs led by the energetic Yelin. Although horse back riding was available I would have preferred longer trips utilizing the beautiful countryside.
