Cayo Levantado Resort: Best vacation to date!!!

We stayed at the Luxury Grand Bahia Samana - the resort was beautiful! The staff were amazing!!! We would order room service everyone morning, two pots of coffee, Jose M would bring our coffee to us, always with a smile. One morning he showed up with our coffee before we had even made the call. Jose the pool bartender was very fun and always accommodating!!! Roberto, the lobby bartender was friendly and always made sure we were taken care of. The entertainment staff, Darling, Black Barbie, [... read more] Seviel, Abigail, and others were fantastic!!! Darling greeted us at the pool everyday with a smile and his fun friendly attitude!!! Black Barbie was fun and always got us up dancing. Saviel was the most fun for me as we played numerous games of backgammon and he had us all laughing - he was great at losing LOL! We were not expecting any shows at the resort and we were pleasantly surprised that there were shows there, the Michael Jackson show was quite impressive and probably our favourite! We also took the shuttle over to Cayo Levantado to see the resort there and spend the day at Bacardi Beach. What a spectacular island and definitely somewhere we want to go to one day. All in all, we would give this resort a 20 out of 10!!! We'd go back in a heartbeat!!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Amazing beach and resort!

This was my second visit to this resort , my son was married there 3 years ago, and we returned because of our experience in 2016. This resort is soooooo clean, the staff are amazing and constantly cleaning and maintaining the resort and grounds. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. My favorite part is the beach! There is a breakwater a distance out and it breaks the waves as they come in so that the swimming area is calm and smooth like bath water most of the time. Our over all experience was Excellent and hopefully I will return again.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Fantastic Resort

This resort was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet week away to relax and be spoiled. The views are absolutely beautiful the pictures don’t do this place justice. The room was spacious comfortable and the maid service excellent as always. The main buffet always was well stocked and many selections. The a la cartes were also amazing. The staff here bent over backwards to be sure we were satisfied. We will be coming back!!

Cayo Levantado Resort: Beautiful Resort

If you are looking for a quite relaxing beautiful setting on a private rainforest Island then this is the place to go. Grounds well kept, rooms very spacious especially the Deluxe suites, A la carte restaurants nice and the food and service staff excellent. Even though this is now a family resort there is not a lot for the kids. More geared to adults wanting to relax. Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Quiet and comfortable

Small resort, but very well-run: management is often seeking feedback and improving things. Likewise, beach is small, but private. Food and service were very good. Not at all crowded late in April. Lots of stairs, so not suitable for some people. Wind was constant. No kayaks, etc for rent. Only walk would have been along the highway, which I declined. Gym was well-equipped. Resort is quiet, not suitable for the party crowd. Love the balcony overlooking the ocean!

The entertainment was outstanding. Every part of the resort was clean and well maintained. Staff were attentive and service was always good. Everyone worked so hard to make our holiday great. Lots of good food, loads of variety and great choices. Beach was windy in the afternoons. Great place to enjoy the ocean, the pools and the activities. Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Happy Holiday

This was a wonderful holiday destination for 3 couples who are all celebrating retirement. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good food and fantastic beach. Everything we were wishing for and more. Lots of great entertainment. Good value. Everyone in our travel group had a fantastic time - even the weather was perfect!

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Awesome Resort!

Smaller resort with a very relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful beach and very nice pool area. One side is Adult Only, and the middle is shallow with loungers for tanning. Nice idea, the other side is children and adult accessible. The rooms were decent, and clean. Maid service was great. The bars were good, but we found if you didn't tip every time, you were not waited on fairly. The pool bars male servers were friendlier than the women. We found that there were a lot of people vacationing from Northern Europe, some of which could be very rude to the workers and security. That was somewhat annoying and aggravating, not the hotel's fault. We went for a relaxing vacation, and that's exactly what we got!

Cayo Levantado Resort: Best All Inclusive

Amazing resort!! This is my 5th time to this resort and it just keeps getting better. The rooms (all of them) are beautiful. The food at the buffet is always the best. Anything you could want and cooked fresh on the grill. The staff are efficient, friendly and helpful. The beaches, the pools and the beautiful grounds are the best you could ask for. 5 Star ratings for sure at Cayo Levantado!!

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: It's a dream!

Such an amazing resort! Ocean views from almost anywhere, quiet, amazing staff, terrific food! We ate gluten free and vegetarian with no problem. The service was amazing. The facilities are SO clean! Loved eating every meal Oceanside. We took the free ferry out to the public beach a couple of times to snorkel. Lots of fish to see. The public beach obviously isn't as quiet and clean as the resort, so if you're just looking to sunbath you may as well stay at the resort. Lots of shaded Oceanside options if you don't want too much sun. The design of the grounds is amazing... always a quiet spot to get away for some quiet time. Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Beautiful Resort

Zen like atmosphere. Long beach to walk. Loved the outdoor yoga. Clean grounds and rooms. Nice variety and good food. Friendly staff, great animation team. Close to Las Terrenas if you wanted a change of pace. Variety of day trips offered. Will definitely be returning in the future.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: When can I go back?!!!!

From the moment we booked with Trip Central to the last day of our holiday we could not have been more pleased with the experience. The resort provided amazing service,views,entertainment and food. We had a few issues with room and was happy to see problems resolved immediately. They would always follow up after to ensure we were pleased. The resort offered space for quiet pool or Beach to another area with lively pool and beach. The beach area is not large but never a shortage of chairs. Lewis and his entertainment team are one of the best I have seen. The Disco and night life is pretty uneventful. So if u looking for some loud and late night excitment maybe rethink this resort. So pleased with this holiday. Truly cannot think of anything negative. ..

This resort was one of the most beautiful resorts I've been to. The size of it's perfect and the ambiance was so relaxing. The staff was topnotch, especially the animation staff! No problems getting chairs at the pool or the beach the whole time we were there. The beach is incredible, not crowded & perfect for long walks to the Luis's bar down the beach. The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Scenic Resort

Lovely, clean, small resort! Excellent buffet and a la carte restaurants! Very scenic location and not too far from the airport. Entertainment in the Lobby Bar every evening and activities at both the beach and main pool daily. The beach is small but there is no problem finding a lounger. The staff is friendly and works hard to meet your needs. Lots of stairs and walking - challenging for those with mobility issues. A great stay!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Paradise away from home

This hotel was amazing. Beautiful beach and grounds. So peaceful and quiet. Perfect size. Excellent food and variety. The entertainment staff is great. This is not a roudy resort , so if that is what you are looking for this wouldn’t be for you. The landscapes and views are amazing. The beach is so clean :)

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo

This resort has a gorgeous beach with coral reefs and a variety of colourful fish. It's not a huge resort however there were 4 different à la carte restaurants. The resort itself is supposed to be a 4.5 star however the upkeep to the rooms and other areas on the resort are more like a 3.5 star.. The variety on the buffet is quite good. There is no swim up bar and only one pool which ended up being closed mid afternoon one day. The biggest issue at this resort is that there is a huge langu [... read more]age barrier and although I could speak both English and French fluently, the servers were far from understanding what patrons wanted. The smiles were few and far between. Only a handful of servers at the restaurants and à la cartes had a smile and welcoming way about them. Most of them did not seem to like their job. We witnessed a couple being very rude to guests at the buffet. You had to ask for water many times and drinks were rarely offered after the water. We seen some people pick up the jug of water and go to their table to serve their children and the jug was abruptly taken away by a server who sat it back in it's place and they had to wait for someone else to give them the water. We spoke with others who had been returning guests and almost all did see this resort go down from the service to the joyful staff they used to have. We are undecided if we would recommend it to others. The beach is long and very nice however staff was not great.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo (Samana DR) does not live up to 5 star rating!

Stay was from 5-12 April 2019. This resort was rated as a 5 star resort but it did not live up to its star rating. The resort is no more than a 4 star. Hotel room cleanliness - The room was very clean Hotel room comfort of bed - Bed is very hard and not comfortable Room cleaning staff - had to call conceirge to have fridge stocked properly as depicted when we booked our trip Room request - not honored *asked for double beds and got king size Language - language barrier and problems throu [... read more]ghout the resort Service staff - in the buffet area, should all be fired. Had to get our own water. Curdled cream was served in the coffee repeatedly. They never smiled. When you moved plates away from a table to sit down, they got angry with you Buffet food - repetitious. Not many varieties of desserts to choose from Snorkelling - amazing and right off the beach Lounge chairs - signs say no reserving and that was not enforced. Hard to find a lounger Drinks - terrible on the beach (watered down). Better inside but they went down hill fast too Front Desk Staff - language barrier - need to have English speaking people working the front desk Air Transat Rep - there needs to be one available from Monday to Friday. Was not there out last day and he was supposed to give us the declaration documents for our return back Beach - appreciated that it was cleaned everyday Local vendors - keep them off the beach and not to bother the people on the beach. Set aside maybe 2 days per week and have them located in 1 area. It was very annoying to be approached by vendors all the time In speaking with other travellers there, a couple who was there last year for 2 weeks, indicated that the resort had went down quite a bit this year since last year. Shame on Grand Bahia Principe hotel chain - do not deserve the 5 star rating as they are not that in the Dominican. Not as bad as going to Cuba but had 5 star expectations when I saw it was a Grand Bahia Principe. Will not stay again at this hotel chain.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Beautiful location!

The hotel and grounds were exceptionally clean and inviting. Service and food were excellent as well. Beach was small and there was very little opportunity to walk about as the resort is close to the road and has very limited grounds. However, for a quiet, relaxing vacation with lots of natural beauty, it's perfect. Be advised, though, that flying to the Puerto Plata airport will mean a 4 hour bus ride to the resort!!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Fantastic Resort - Will return

This was such an intimate resort. The grounds were well manicured, the public washroom were spotless and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. There was no pressure to make sure you had a "towel card" as there were lots of clean towels in the morning and you could take as many as you liked. The Fusion restaurant was our favourite and the service was first class. The beach was beautiful and the water was also very warm. There were lots of games to play on the beach ie. darts,ping pong, bocce ball and adult musical chairs. We were a little disappointed with the content of the shows at night but we've travelled so many times to different resorts that it wasn't a priority for us. The rooms were clean and the showers in the washroom were fantastic. Lots of hot water!! The buffet was good but could have had a little more variety. You didn't have to reserve for the ala carte restaurants and you could go as many times as you liked. The staff at the reception were always ready to be helpful and very friendly. We can't wait to return. We loved it!!!!!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Picturesque Resort!

The resort was very clean , grounds well kept. We had a Junior Suite which was very nice and well cleaned everyday. Fridge was stocked everyday . Buffet was good , no complaints and so were the a la cartes as we are not picky eaters. The only down fall was the walking , built on a cliff. So if you are in the Junior Suites a lot of stairs to the main building. They do have cart system available.
