Sunscape Curacao Resort: 10th Wedding Anniversary

This was our first time at Curacao and Sunscape resort. It was recommended by friends. The Beach was beautiful and water clean and turquoise blue, with lots of fish swimming around! Great for snorkeling! The resort is about 40 years old and needs major upgrades, such as installing screens on the balconies to prevent bugs from entering the rooms; removal of mildew in bathrooms, installing fans in bathrooms and upgrading beds and pillows due to musty smells. Great entertainment staff  [... read more]who would do anything to make the guest's stay enjoyable! Great cleaning staff who kept our room clean every day! Great management staff who accommodated our personal issues in timely manner and followed up with us to make sure all was OK. The food was good but lacked variety and freshness - always hit and miss with same during breakfast, lunch or dinner at the buffet restaurant World Cafe. The best a la care restaurants were Oceana and Blue Water Grill! Great wait staff, as well as at the bars! We didn't use the spa or casino, so can't comment on the customer service. A big bonus was having a nurse on the resort - we had to use the services of nurse Consuela and she was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and our son was very happy with her! The temperatures were extremely hot, 34 c every day, with high humidity, no cool fronts and you constantly sweat, which was hard on our son. We made the best of our stay, and would only return if management considers our suggestions for improvement of the resort.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort! It has a nice beach with a calm, enclosed swimming area. We enjoyed not having to make dinner reservations for any of the 4 a-la-carte restaurants (Italian, Tepenyaki, Seafood and Grill). If you arrived for dinner and the restaurant of your choice was full, they would give you a beeper to carry so you could go back to your room to relax or to the bar to have a drink. We also liked having a coffee shop where you could order from a selection of hot and cold coffees at any time of the day. The resort staff were all very friendly and helpful. In particular, the manager Jose and "Johnny Rocket" of the event staff made the week even more enjoyable. The rooms are a bit older but they were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only negative was the spa which is extremely high in price ($149US for a 50 minute massage) and low in quality (I had the most gentle deep tissue massage I've ever had). Overall, we highly recommend this resort. Especially for couples looking for a quiet get-away or for families with young children.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: exceptional staff, great location

The Sunscape Curaco Resort is well situated on the island and arguably has the most attentive caring staff I've ever encountered at an all-inclusive. The meals were really good, I especially enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. Service over-all on the resort is excellent. The rooms are nice, clean and large (I stayed in the tower), however, I would like to see an update of the bathroom. Kunuku Aqua Resort: Great place for kids!

I went to Kunuku with great trepidation, as I had booked BEFORE reading reviews - and it seemed about 90% of the reviews I had read were very negative. But it turned out, my fears were unfounded! Those negative reviews must have been written by people who went with very high expectations, or who were expecting a luxurious facility. Most of the things this 90% complained about were things with which we had no problem: staff, meals, food, condition of rooms, property maintenance, etc. If one is lo [... read more]oking for luxurious, beachfront accommodations and gourmet meals, Kunuku may disappoint. Otherwise, it is quite enjoyable. Kunuku Aqua Resort is a family resort, but great for families and couples, young or senior alike. My husband and I did not have accompanied kids, but we still had an enjoyable stay. The staff are very courteous and accommodating. You get a package on arrival that, in addition to giving all information on resort facilities, also sets out fees for additional costs if incurred, so there really should be no surprises. We expected just a room but found their "standard room" is actually a suite - a bedroom, bathroom with walk-in shower (plenty of hot water, but in 40+ temperatures, we only used the cold water), a living room with a pull-out couch, TV, safe, mini fridge and coffeemaker, and a walkout to a nice, breezy, covered balcony with a table and chairs. It was spotless - including the bedding. The three buffet style meals and snacks between meals were all lovely - home style and plentiful - unless one straggled into the dining room about a half hour or so before closing, in which case one could obviously be met with whatever is left! The only minor problems I had at the resort were: 1) It is in the middle of the Island so I could not walk over to any place. The resort does have a free shuttle service, which takes guests into town or the beach at 10:30 a.m. then picks them up from their drop off points (town or beach) at 3:30 p.m. but if one wants to make a quick run to a store or an ATM, one is out of luck! One can also rent a car from the resort for USD50 however, but I don't drive. 2) The Wifi - albeit free, it was an exercise in frustration because it cut off every few seconds. This became quite aggravating on my last day when I wanted to select my seat and check in for my flight home; what should have taken five minutes, took about an hour, because I couldn't stay on the website! The Wifi problem, however, extends throughout the Island I believe, and is not just a problem at Kunuku. Finally - a tip for anyone considering any vacation on the Island: Book your tours before you leave Canada, in Canadian dollars! Tour operators there only accept cash - in US dollars - and the prices are considerably higher! We were offered an Island tour by Tripcentral in Canada, but I did not take that offer because I was not sure what we would be doing when we got to the Island. Big mistake! We did decide to do the Island tour when we got there, but ended up paying a lot more ($50 per person) - in cash, and USD at that!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Creepy vacation

My wife, daughter and myself were looking forward to Curacao but upon our arrival were so disappointed. We stayed at the Sunscape resort which looked and felt like subsidized housing. Our room was awful, the beach was Ok and the food was at best adequate. At that point we thought to make the best of it. Our second day we were made to feel so uncomfortable by one of the hotels security guards by his staring inappropriately at our eleven year old daughter. This man was going as far as c [... read more]ircling around her and looking up and down at her and trying to talk to her!! What a creep! When we asked him why he was doing this another security guard approached and made rude and disqusting remarks about our daughter then made threating gestures at me. We immediately complained to the general manager who had both security guards removed from the property after reviewing the survalance video. All we wanted to do at that point was to get back home but had to wait until Thursday to get out of there. We would never go back to the Curacao Sunscape Resort if you booked us a free trip!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: The best week ever!😎

Sunscape is delightful. Big rooms and balcony. The best beds ever. The staff super courteous and always helpful. The very best night time entertainment with quality performers. And, lets not forget the food and restaurants all +AAA Looking forward to next year ... To do it again ❤️

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Fantastic resort

Hotel was spotless everywhere staff was about the friendliest I've ever experienced and food was amazing no repeats in the buffet the alacarte were also great no reservations required and could visit as many times you wanted also the resort was close to all attractions the only negative review I would complain about was the wifi it was hit and miss and the lobby should have some ceiling fans for air movement

We stayed at the Sunscape Resort the 1st week of Sept. This resort was lovely. We had an ocean front room, that was well appointed with, a mini frig (stocked w/ soda, & beer.) Flat screen tv, in room safe (no extra charge) Iron, plenty of drawers, shelves large closet and a nice washroom, w/ a few toiletries, a big shower stall & always hot water.Maids did a wonderful job each day. A little rocky to enter in spots but easy to navigate where to enter. There is a break wall a few yrds. out, it makes for calm waters & nice snorkeling The buffet food was pretty good, we liked breakfast & lunch here especially. Some days we found the service ( refilling water & drinks) to be a bit slow but, hey your on vacation. All the a la carte restaurants were very good we tried them all & enjoyed them all, here the service was great. All restaurants are open air either on the ocean or have ocean views and the Italian has indoor seating w/ ac as well as outdoor tables..Heavenly to sit under the stars with the site & sounds of the ocean. The whole resort was clean the staff friendly .We enjoyed the island of Curacao as well. We would recommend The Sunscape Resort Curacao..Go & enjoy.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: great vacation

the Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable, grounds were well kept. We stayed in the Royal Tower and even though it was not an ocean view room, the balcony was large and the view from the right side showed ocean. House keeping was good, however we had requested a blanket on the bed and two coffee mugs (only one in the room when we arrived) we never did receive them and after a couple of days we stopped getting the coffee tray filled. Restaurants were O K, was a  [... read more]little disappointed with the evening buffet choices, however we did eat mostly at the bluewater grill, and was very satisfied with their meals. The morning coffee was good at the Cafe and they always had fruit and snacks available, Bar at the pool was great and the staff there always friendly. I would go back to this hotel again. Loved the way the pool area was set up and the entertainment staff and performers were great. Would be nice if they had some more shade on the pool deck.

Hilton Curacao: Lovely stay

We had a lovely stay at the Hilton Curacao. The hotel is older but has been renovated in the recent years and looks nice and fresh from the inside and public areas. Centrally located. Beach is small, quaint and not too many waves because its a cove, which is nice.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: PERFECT PLACE FOR US!

My husband and I decided "on the spur of the moment" to take the Air Canada Vacation Ottawa-Curacao at the beginning of June 2016. At a great price. The main reason we went was to Scuba Dive; we know that Ocean Encounters is located on the property and that they run a great Dive Centre. We dove 2-3 times every day. We did not use many of the services/utilities offered by the resort apart from having our meals at the main Restaurant - with one exception. The staff was very friendly and helpful - we enjoyed meeting many of them and speaking with them. The room as large and very clean; again the room service was very good. We enjoyed some of the entertainment at night. Specifically we loved to listen to Anthony Michael, the saxophone player. We love his music and his singing. In our opinion he is "an Island Treasure"

Sunscape Curacao Resort: got more than paid for

Very well kept and clean resort. Excellent theme restaurants, including fillet mignon in the Bar and Grill. Brand name liquors in the lobby bar. The strongest point of this hotel are well trained, polite, and attentive staff. Some minor issues eg. missing/broken tiles in the main pool.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: the best place to stay in Curacao

This was our first time on such a small island and it was amazing. The resort is beautiful, rooms were clean, food was great and plentiful, tons of activities for kids and adults. Rented car and explored the island very safe and main city was incredible.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Beautiful island, excellent resort!

We travelled as a family of 4 (children ages 8 and 10) and stayed in the Sun Club area. Truly enjoyed the Sunscape experience. Great beach and snorkeling, excellent food and some of the best drinks we've experienced at an all-inclusive.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: great snorkeling

The snorkeling is great at this resort. You feel like you are in a fishbowl. The resort is well maintained but is older so minor room issues are normal. Management will address any of your concerns without question. that was refreshing. The beach is good, water is clear and the beach chairs are plentiful. The food was great at all of the restaurants. We had a large group so food was delivered a little sporadic but the staff were always pleasant. They could use more sitting areas in the evening a [... read more]round the lobby bar. They were always full with no available seating. Nightly entertainment was better than most resorts as they had small bands/duo's every night. I would not hesitate to return and only caution people who like the big marble palaces that keep springing up throughout the Caribbean. This is an older resort and a little smaller which I prefer as you tend to meet more people.

Hilton Curacao: Outdated from the inside but great ambience!

Inside need greater improvement, much of the facility is a bit outdated coming from Curacao born native. The outside facility is impeccable and we highly enjoy the Ocean front beach which has a serene boardwalk around the shore... breathtaking views steps from next to Marriott Hotel!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great trip

Plenty of activities to do during the day, plenty of options on the grounds, great snorkeling right off the beach, great food at the buffet and all four a la carte options. The seafood a la carte was the best atmosphere. The room was very clean and kept up. They had poor service at the Italian a la carte the night we went, but not sure if it was just a bad night or typical (and by bad service, I mean they were slow and inattentive - not rude or anything more severe). The beach isn't ideal for swimming due to a rocky patch - but there are some sandy spots too (I didn't care about swimming other than to snorkel which was great).

Best snorkeling right in front of hotel. Hotel is very clean, staff super friendly. Food was really good too. Beautiful sunsets and great scuba diving. Nightly entertainment was fun, especially sax player, fire show and carribean parade night. Great time, would return to this resort.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Relaxing Vacation

Friendly staff, well kept grounds, average food for an all inclusive and fun activities should you choose to join in. I recommend upgrading to the Sun Club for a private pool and beach in addition to a bar and coffee area. They could improve their housekeeping consistency. We enjoyed a great vacation at Sunscape.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Absolutely the BEST

The hotel itself was beautiful and top of the line clean. The staff were the best that my wife and I have ever encountered on any vacation we have ever been on (2-3 per year). The pools were cleaned daily and there was never a problem getting a chair or towels. The island was the safest we have ever encountered as well. We actually took a 30 minute walk one day and had island people saying good morning to us as we walked...wow what a change.
