The hotel was very nice. The rooms were clean. The food was varied and excellent. I would recommend for all age groups . The staff goes above and beyond for everyone. Surprising to see the resort as pretty as last year after the hurricane.

Great Value!
This resort and staff are working hard to improve this resort after all the hurricane damage. The grounds are nice. The rooms are decent but some people had issues with leaks and no hot water. The staff are super friendly and will eagerly help you enjoy your stay. The beach was amazing and the different levels at the pool kept the kiddies at one and the adults at the other. We did Diamond club and not to many perks but not having to line up for meals was well worth it, as well as, your own area o[... read more]n the beach. The snack bar was great! Hazy Memories
This hotel has wonderful staff everywhere, from the entertainment team to the snack bar servers and guest services. The beach is beautiful and chairs plentiful. The pool is a lot of fun but not as many chairs and you have to get up at the crack of crow to secure a spot at the pool.
Always found something to eat at the buffet, but there was a lot of weird looking prepared items that just were not appetizing. Took a few days to enjoy the buffet.
The rooms are tired and worn out. We were pla[... read more]ced in an absolutely terrible room in building 10 and overlooked garbage from the hurricane. The patio door lock was broken and the door did not open without some strength to get the glass open. It took from 3 pm arrival until 6pm the next evening to get into a new room. It was a much improved but still tired looking. I was shocked when I read somewhere that this resort is only five years old. The public bathrooms are quite dark, the floor wet, and the smell was not pleasant. There were ladies working constantly to keep them clean. Maybe the hotel needs to provide a sheet to people new to resort about the unique etiquette of paper handling.
I would not go back to this resort.

Awesome vacation
We spent a week at this beaufiful resort the first week of March 2018. It was the first time we visited this resort and we will be back next year. The resort is beautiful and the Cubans need to be congratulated on the work they have done to restore this area after the hurricane of 2017.
The food was very good....we have been to Cuba resorts 13 times previously, so know what to expect of the food. The buffet had a huge variety of food, and the fresh fish was delicious and not to be missed. D[... read more]on't miss the smoothies at breakfast !!!
The beach is amazing with plenty of cover for those who love shade. We love snorkelling, and found some fish off the beach, however, taking a Hobie Cat out to the large reef is the best thing to do. There were 4 of us on the "Cat" and we went out with 2 other boats......beautiful reef and amazing fish to be seen.
We purchased the "Diamond Club" and it was well worth it.

Great family fun with awesome beach and animation staff
Memories Flamenco Cayo Coco is a fun resort that is dedicated to service and ensuring everyone has a good time.
The grounds are well maintained and the beach superb. The pools were larger than expected and my kids spent all day there enjoying meeting other kids, playing crazy games put on by the animation staff and watching all the other fun activities planned. The kids loved the mini disco each night and spent an hour each day in the kids club playing pool.
As an adult that loves to [... read more]dance and practice my Spanish, I enjoyed Zumba everyday at the pool, and chatting with all the bartenders and animation staff.
The theatre shows were entertaining and the professional dancers were very good, though the show started too late at 930 and they could have removed the pre-show to start the real show earlier.
Best bartenders at the pool bar were Aris and Orlando. Daily at the small poolside mojito bar made killer mojitos. At night, Yoel made yummy Spanish coffees at his coffee cart.
The food and drinks were decent for Cuba. We ate in the buffet every meal but appreciated the grill bar at the pool for lunch bites.
Only cons is that the rooms are dated and the bathtub was slippery. We had to request extra small beds for the kids a couple times before they arrived. Also, in order to get pool or beach chairs you have to be up and reserve them before 730 am which is annoying on vacation. There are chair guys that will help bring chairs from other places (if they are still available of course).

Awesome
We had such a Great time at Memories Flamenco. The staff and entertainment was awesome, the food and drinks were great. The beaches are amazing and the water spectacular. The rooms were good but never spent much time there. We really loved the night entertainment , they are great performers and dancers. The temp was between 27 and 30 all week with no rain. Couldn't of asked for a better trip all the way around. Definitely good to return.

Amazing!!! We will be back...
This resort is absolutely beautiful and the workers including the gardeners/maintenance work very hard to keep this place clean and beautiful. You can see they were hit hard by the hurricane, but wow they are constantly working to replace damaged items and plants/trees. The lobby bar was very relaxing to enjoy during the day or in the evening for an after dinner drink. There was usually some sort of live entertainment. We loved seeing the cats who call Memories their home, so treat them with[... read more] respect.
Beaches: Stunning, such blue water and white sands. Lots of beautiful shells along the beach.
Pool: I'm not usually a pool person, but the big pool is spotless and clean and the water is so refreshing. The only issue we had with the pool was that you couldn't get a chair, if you didn't race down at 5-6 am to reserve. I had thought there was a Diamond Club area but that's only on the beach. The swim-up bar pool has a low water level and I'm not sure if that's to stop people from sitting at the bar all day and just peeing in the pool, but it was refreshing to cool off.
Food/Restaurants: With some of the reviews we were worried about the food and took lots of spices, however, we were surprised how tasty the food was with flavor and they have lots of spices including salt and pepper, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, hot sauce. The only thing they don't have is peanut butter, so if you can't go without I would suggest bringing your own small jar or packets. Every morning you can have homemade eggs any way you desire including an omelette. The supper buffet is good as well and I highly recommend the cook-to-order fried rice or pasta. The cheese and dried meats (prosciutto, salami) and delicious. The a la carte restaurants for the most part were delicious including the Mediterranean restaurant which had a nice beef dinner which you could cut with a bread knife. The Asian is a must try as well, but we were very disappointed with the Italian. If you are in the Diamond Club you get an additional meal one evening during your stay. As our night was at the Cuban restaurant, we didn't book it separate so did not get a chance to try it as the special Diamond Club dinner is a set menu of lobster and chicken. It is definitely worth it if you are a seafood lover. There is a 24/7 snack bar where you can get coffee, pizza, burgers, fries and of course an open bar.
Room: Spotless, clean and bug free. We were in Building 2, top floor corner room. From our balcony we had a view of the ocean and the entire resort, which was gorgeous. I would suggest requesting Building 1, 2 or 3 closer to the beach and pool.
Entertainment: The Michael Jackson show was spectacular. The Madonna and Beatles was ok but very enjoyable to watch. The dancers throughout the resort were wonderful and the synchronized swimmers were fantastic. Cubans sure know how to dance and are always giving lessons to learn the moves.
People: Are amazing. I never once felt threatened or unsafe and they will bend over backwards to make your stay an enjoyable one. I would suggest taking Toronto Blue Jay baseball hats down or t-shirts of anything Canada, they are so appreciative and love Canadians.
My only complaint of this resort is the drainage system for the toilets. There seemed to be a lot of flooding by the end of the day in the lobby washrooms and at night our room toilet didn't always flush, but this could be due to washing of laundry and dishes by the staff. By morning the pressure was back to normal but can't take too many flushes in a row.
Excursions: We actually didn't do any excursions. The Sunwing desk line ups were way to busy so we didn't want to waste time to just look and chat with the representative. There is a small market about a 5-10 minute walk. There is a larger market a little further which you can either take the bus for $5/person or we grabbed a taxi as there was 4 of us for $25 and the driver waits for you and brings you back. We also one day took a taxi for $80 which was one of the old 1950's cars to Moron. As our taxi driver wasn't very fluent in English he took us to a very nice young man in town who spoke fluent English and who was able to walk us a round the city (I would highly suggest this) as everyone knew him and were not so needing on approaching us and begging. I did take lots of stuff for the children (hot wheels, stickers, colorful markers, crayons, books, bubbles, candy necklaces, candy bracelets and suckers) if you don't expose them out on the street openly, you won't get swarmed. The people are so kind in this town as well. My daughter wasn't feeling too well cause of the hot heat and two older ladies took us into a small museum with air-conditioning and allowed her to cool off, until she felt better, we gave them $5 and they were so appreciative.
The other place I would suggest is a must especially if you are seafood eater is Lenny's Bar and Grill on the beach. It's a small hut on the beach which is about a half hour walk along the beach, but you can take a taxi for $25 return. The food is amazing, the people are spectacular and the view is breathtaking.
We will 100% return to this resort... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...

Memories Flamenco
Our stay at the Flamenco was enjoyable. The beach was great, the top pool was great, however the lower pool was only filled with water not even halfway which made the pool virtually unusable by adults, unless you were on a raft floating around. The kiddy pool was full to the rim and looked nice.
The room itself was standard Cuban fare. The building we were in is starting to look dated. However, considering the hurricane, you never would have known that they had been through that.
The f[... read more]ood was standard fare, nothing fantastic but always something to eat. The public washrooms were not the best. Many times they would be closed and you would be forced to go back to your room, which could be quite the walk when you are at the buffet or the entertainment.
I never saw any entertainment on the beach. The entertainment at the pool was the same over and over. It wasn't the best. The nightly entertainment was pretty good.
Even though I am pointing out the negative things, I had an enjoyable time and would go back to the Flamenco again.

Beautiful beach and people....however some serious septic issues!
This was our first visit to Cayo Coco -travelled last week of Feb 2018. This hotel has definitely come far in rebuilding according to others who have stayed in the past. However they have some serious plumbing/water issues. The public bathrooms were overflowing daily and closed constantly leaving only 1 available on the whole resort. Each day was a mystery in finding an open ladies bathroom that wasn't overflowing and very disgusting. (Only once I saw someone actually working in the bathroom s[... read more]o not sure how they are resolving this serious issue?) They finally posted a note for women to use garbage cans in each stall for t-paper which they should have up anyway! However, those were rarely emptied so that added to the mess and standing water! Water pressure was a problem too, shower did not work for 2 days. There is only 1 pool because the pool bar floor was redone and there was only a foot of water in it- Therefore the main pool was packed with everyone. The resort ran out of t-paper, water bottles were low, vodka & beer were not available for several hours until their supplies arrived. Looking at the positive, I hope our booking helped bring in some revenue to get them up an running - it truly is a beautiful spot and the people were very gracious and tried their best to accommodate. Here's hoping that in time they will be up and running smoothly. It is a small hotel with not a lot of activity(no bocce, shuffle board, ping pong, few activities) if you want to just relax at ocean and pool with little choices, then this is your spot.

Not the best
The resort is not in the best shape, needs a lot of upgrades and is really run down, it also has a lot of risk for injury exposure for being a family kid friendly resort. Some building are upgraded ours where not building 9 and 10 are where we stayed and they should not be used at this point, they are aweful. Toilets where disgusting almost all the time; no toilet paper , or even seats. With that being said positive note the staff where amazing; nice friendly Food was ok, not bad.

Breath taking experience
We were bit disappointed at first as we went with 2 other couples whom were put in the same building while we were in a different building at the other end of the resort!
While they could not move us right away after 2 days they did relocate us with the other couples. We were extremely greatful.
The hotels and grounds did have some small issues but as we understand they are still recouping after the Hurricane, what we did notice is that they were always working hard to fix these issues, but o[... read more]verall the location was beautiful and the staff at the resort is what made our experience so memorable!
The BEACH!!! Was the most beautful thing I have ever seen. We could have sat on that beach forever.

Beautiful Beach, So-So Resort
Overall our vacation was fairly average. My boyfriend and I stayed at Memories Flamenco Beach Resort from Feb. 14th - 21st. I had been to Cuba before so we went in knowing that the food would not be spectacular, but with this there were many other small disappointments that began to add up.
Pools: We were very disappointed with the pools at this resort. There are two, and one of them has a swim up bar. The pool with the swim up bar is about 2 feet deep throughout which we found extremely dis[... read more]appointing. The other pool was much deeper (about 5 feet), but having to get out of the pool to get drinks every 15 minutes made hanging out by the pool a lot less enjoyable. Lounge chairs were very hard to find even for just two people, but this seems to be a standard issue for any resort.
Beach: The beach at this resort was absolutely stunning. Out of all the places I have travelled to, the beach here was the most beautiful. We found ourselves at the beach for almost the entire week because the pools didn't compare.
Room: Overall our room was very clean and well kept. However, our TV didn't work, two of the lights didn't work, and there was no hot water at any point throughout the week. It's wasn't even a little bit warm- it was absolutely bone chilling.
Food: As expected, the food was not very good at this resort. After about two days of eating at the buffet we were able to find what food was best (pasta station, stir fry station, omelette station). The 24-hour snack bar was not good at all. They rarely had everything available on the menu, and the food seemed to be extra disappointing. We went to 2 of the A' La Carte restaurants, the Italian and the Asian. They both offered good food, but other than being a lot cleaner they weren't much better than what the buffet offered.
Nightlife/Entertainment: There isn't a whole lot going on for this resort in terms of night life. While the lobby bar is 24/7, there is no disco on the resort. We were told about a disco down the street at another resort, but we didn't end up going there as we would have had to pay for our own drinks and transit. The shows each night at the theatre weren't terrible, but they weren't anything special. We found ourselves leaving halfway more than once.
With everything considered, this resort should not be considered a 4-Star. More like a 2. We did have a good trip, it just would have been nice to have lower expectations so that each fault didn't come as such a disappointment. We wouldn't travel to this resort again, but we don't regret going.

Wonderful resort
Front desk staff very helpful grounds staff very polite house keeping we couldnt of asked for anything better
Now for the people that say the food in cuba is bland have not stayed at memories flemenco food was very tasteful and a wide variety. Although there were plumbing issues ,maybe people should not use 3 lbs of toilet paper and the issues will go away. But all in all we would very much recommend this resort

An excellent all inclusive value resort
Arrival: Our sunwing flight arrived late in the night and we had the quickest check-in ever (our 6th time to Cuba). Resort map given at check-in made it easy to find the bars, our room and the 24 hr snack bar where we were able to get a quick meal at 3:00 in the morning. Previous complaints about lack of lighting seemed unfounded to us as we were able to find everything between 2 and 4 am when there was a new moon. We had no problem exchanging money (either at the bank, or at the front desk). T[... read more]he exchange rate was always the same ($40 cdn = $28 cuc... result was we didn't sweat when we changed out our money -- I liked that). Our experience with the front desk was very positive (best in our experience in Cuba), each rep had a smile and helped right away (whether it was for directions to a la cartes, breaking 10 cucs for tips or to find out how to store our luggage when we checked out). I appreciated that we were able to use all resort services after our noon check-out (including courtesy room for shower and holding towels for longer after check-out)
Food: The buffet was well laid out so that the line ups for omelets, meat cooking, past bar and churro making did not disrupt the overall flow of traffic and you were able to get other foods in hot and cold buffet stations easily. Since this is a family resort, the management also set up an area at the front of the buffet for children (at kid's height) with popular food for the little ones... what a smart idea, the result was less children at the back near hot foods... it worked well. The menu at the buffet was varied, the lamb, rabbit and chicken in the steamers were so yummy, the salad bar was usually well stocked with small bowls of dressing constantly refilled (less worries about the dressing going bad) and fruits were usually plentiful (last day was a little lean). The line ups for display cooking were very manageable, so sometimes I even got fresh made food at the buffet (normally I would not wait in lines, but Flamenco's lines were not too long). We never had to wait for a table (lots of seating even though the resort was full). Buffet was not air conditioned so lunch and dinner meals were sometimes hot for us. The a la cartes were air conditioned and food and service excellent (went to Italian, Mediterranean and Cuban).
Room: Best room cleaning attention we have experienced. Yareli (and her helper) were responsive (they left extra water for us upon request, and when they saw we drank some beer from the fridge one day they replaced the beer the next day with extra). The room cleaning was thorough and creative (great towel art) and they also adapted to our schedule for room cleaning. The room had excellent air conditioning but toilet had a valve issue... once we learned to jiggle the button, we had no further problems. Water pressure was excellent, temp was cooler if you showered around the busy time 5:00 - 6:00 pm, but at least not ice cold, and all other times showers were pleasantly warm. We were impressed that we never saw any ants or other bugs in the room even though we were on the ground floor. Also, although we read that there were a lot of mosquitoes/sand flies, we did not experience any problems and did not need to use bug dope. We were in block 6 which was an excellent location close to everything, but not too noisy at night.
General Areas: If management is looking for a welcome addition to the resort, I suggest an ice cream parlor... it would relieve some of the ice cream line up at the buffet, and could become a fun part of your daily routine while at the resort. I was surprised that a family resort of this size did not have one. The only real complaint we had was the frequent malfunctions of public toilets. Sometimes it was impossible to find a functioning ladies toilet (got worse as the day progressed) and we had to return to our room to pee... with the location of our room this was tolerable but if you were in say, block 10, I would have been frustrated with this. It did become a problem upon check-out since we had 7.5 more hours at the resort before our bus left... we solved this by going bowling at the nearby Puebla... toilets were in great shape and their service was excellent.
Beach/Pool: The beach was amazing, we walked for miles, but it was windy each day so we were not able to see if snorkelling was possible from the beach (did not look promising). We were able to select the same 6 loungers each day near the beach bar and by the end of the week the lounge chair assistant was joking with us and making sure our spots were set up (on the last day we switched our spot because there was only the two of us coming down and he came over right away to make sure we were okay with our new spot). My husband and I are not pool people, although others in our group did visit the pool swim up bar and take a dip. There seemed to be plenty of loungers available at the pool. With the pool being multi level, in some areas there was no wind (we discovered this at one point upon visiting the pool bar in mid afternoon, we had been comfortable all day at the beach because of the breeze, but suddenly realized how hot is was at the pool bar...) I guess this could have advantages if you have some cooler days at the resort (we did not -- it was 27 oC and sunny each day).
Bars: The bar service was generally excellent and many servers would smile at us when we tried to order in Spanish. Special shout outs go to Mandi at the lobby bar ("oh Mandi, we came and you made us mojitos") and Pino at the sports bar (best brandy alexanders on the resort, you have to try them) and the whole crew at the snack bar who made the start to our day so easy with cappuccinos and "tres dedos ron oscuro". The lobby bar had a nice atmosphere, and the sports bar was wonderfully cool. The beach bar was well staffed, so that you did not have to wait long for a top up at the beach... when we walked past the long line ups at the other resorts along the beach we were thankful for the number of bar tenders at our beach bar. Also, with the snack bar just 100 m up the way from the beach, a stop there for lunch and another drink was easy (although I did not enjoy the snack bar food as much as the buffet).
Overall Impression: There were several thoughtful touches to the resort... flowers often left in the room, sangria/cocktail table on entrance to buffet so that you could easily get a drink without burdening table servers, mimosa table set up for breakfast at the buffet, the display Spanish coffee making at the lobby bar, and the cameo dancing from the entertainers to the buffet area to let you know what was going on at the theater that night. I believe the management is doing an excellent job catering to a full crowd and it does not surprise me that there are many repeat customers.

Did I love it or did I really love it!!
This resort was fantastic, you would never know that a few months ago it was damaged by a hurricane! It is obvious that they have spent a lot of time rebuilding and repairing. They’ve invested a lot of time on the beach, the food was great, tons of variety all the time, even the kids were happy! This was a great family resort!

Impressed
We enjoyed our stay and had minimal issues - we found that the staff was friendly and mostly accommodating. The first night, we had to ask numerous times for beds for our 2 children and waited until after 10 pm to have them delivered. Other than that, we were happy with the service. The grounds were reasonably kept clean and the foliage was nice. The ocean is amazing - and comfortable beach accommodations to enjoy the view. Lovely Beach/Love the Cuban people
Upon arrival, check-in was supposed to be at 4pm and we finally got to our 2nd room at 6:30pm. After waiting in a line for about an hour, the first room we received was musty, dingy and had two beds where we requested a king. We did not want to stay for 14 days in that room. Phone did not work so we walked back to the lobby and spent another hour waiting for a replacement. Several other people waiting for room changes too. They moved us to another building and the room was clean, bright and on [... read more]the 1st floor. The Sunwing rep provided us with an overview the following day and there was always someone at the allotted times to book excursions or assist us. Luly was our maid in our building and she provided excellent service everyday. She appreciated our gifts and tips. We returned to our room daily with a different design on bed with towels and blankets. Buffet food was ok with great emphasis placed on presentation and variety but tray food was usually not very hot. We sat every morning in the spot at Rosa and her co-workers tables. They were very friendly and attentive to us. A-la carte restaurants were very nice but we booked two different ones the first week and showed up to be informed the restaurant was not opened or was moved to a different location. Public washrooms near Lobby and Snack bar by mid day were without toilet paper usually or the stalls were out of order. Some did not have toilet seats and were not repaired the whole time we were there. To the cleaners credit, the washrooms near the snack bar was the closest to the beach so heavily used. Snack bar service was good but sometimes they did not have enough servers. Bar tenders all great but the drinks were heavy with ice. Very friendly entertainment staff all excellent. At the beach and pool they took the time to try and include us in the various activities. Could smell sewer when returning to our building on occasion. Overall the staff were great. The public washrooms and hospitality need attention.
