Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Just What I Needed

My 3rd time to Cuba, 1st time to Holguin. Resort lived up to my expectations. Great staff, Great Housekeeping, Great Cuban Resort Food, Great Beach!!! The size of the resort was perfect. All amenities were within a 5 minute walk. Flew in from Vancouver to meet up with 8 other girls (family & friends) from my home town in Ontario. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great Food and hospitality.

The Adult Only section of Sanctuary with private beach section is a bit small and uneventfull, but thankfully the main "Family" section called Grand Memories located a verry short walking distance away was much bigger, busier and active. Food was above and beyond expectations having been to the other end of the island twice in the past. No issues with food shortages.Only Cola on two occasions. The hop on hop off bus at $5.00 per day to Varadero and along the over 40 neighbouring resorts was a Great feature to get off the resort. Temperatures were a bit hot , 35 degrees in late May though, and being off season. Beautiful beaches as expected. USA and Cdn dollar bills accepted. Not coins though. Best trip so far out of 3 to Cuba.

Grand Memories Holguin: Superior experience

A lovely new, quite large resort, in fact 2 resorts in one. Many pools, dining rooms, generous beach and interesting new shops & entertainment facility within 200 yds. It is in excellent condition, kept so by a marvelous staff. The 2 hour ride from the airport was in daylight and provides a wonderful view of both town and countryside.

Memories sanctuary is a lovely clean resort, rooms are spacious the beach is nice a bit of seaweed and rock but other than that it is okay Food selection was okay as well I didn't starve. A lot of walking from room to lobby no coffee in the room but great ice coffee at the lobby. Enjoyed the air conditioned bar lobby nightly.

Ground crew worked hard on maintaining. Rooms were nice and clean. Cleaning staff were amazing. Staff were very polite. Drinks were limited. Food was limited but good. Beach was clean. Pools were kept clean. Bar staff were good.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Good experience with some caveats

Most people are nice, great beach and view. Food is decent given the situation i still liked it. However there were some issues like the moisture in room and unclean sheets and pillows. Overall still good for the price but there are salubrity and amenities concerns.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Better Than Anticipated

We did not experience any shortages. They had eggs each morning, lots of bread, pizza by Carlos was very good. A la carte was good when opened (every other night). Service was very good. Beds and pillows were unusually comfortable for Cuba. AC was terrific ?Hot water was excellent. No shortages of wine, sparkling wine, beer, gin, vodka, whiskey or rum. The beach is the absolute best! I believe Sunwing is a part owner and the should be ashamed that they don't do more to improve the property. We realize that it is challenging to acquire certain things in Cuba, however, if you go a couple of resorts down the beach to The Royalton, you find that it's still possible to maintain a hotel in Cuba. We understand that they are a more expensive property, but if the don't start looking after the Grand Memories they will pass the point of no return. Overall a good place to go if you are looking for a low cost vacation. You'll enjoy yourself if your expectations are aligned with the price you pay . We'd definitely spend the extra next time to go to a better maintained property such as The Royalton. You get what you pay for. Don't forget your bug spray, depending on the time of the year you will need it.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: RELAXING WELCOMING RESORT

This resort was very nice, welcoming and relaxing! It was unusually hot the week we went thank goodness air conditioning in rooms, restaurants and bar worked well. Wasn't enough covered/shaded areas outside to cool off. Pool area was very nice however the lounge chairs collapsed. One of the employees was kind enough to get us 2 good ones. Pork seems to be the major food which was hard as we don't eat port. The water and beach was amazing. The food at the adults only side was actually quite decent! The rooms could use some updating and renovations but, we barely spent any time there so it was fine. The service was great! They tried to make the stay as comfortable as possible.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Beach Lovers

If you love the beach this is a great place. Price is very affordable but you get what you pay for. Hotel is run down. Travels in May and a lot of resort was closed. Diamond club offered pretty much nothing. Food was not kept hot on buffet and only one a la carte open and taking only 10 reservations per night. Saying all of this, we did have a great time. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Going back

The grounds were very well manicured. The staff was friendly and accommodating. One of the nicest beaches i have seen. I was surprised by the choices on the buffet. The Alacarts were surprisingly good.

Grand Memories Varadero: Not impressed

This will be our 5th trip to Cuba. We have travelled many different times and in different months. Being slow season I would expect it would be bad but this was extreme. Only one buffet open and only one al cart open per night. We have travelled at the same time before. And the full resort was open. For a highly rated resort and a top pick not impressed. Will probably be our last trip to Cuba.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: AMAZING resort!!

We had such an amazing time at Memories Flamenco! My partner (21M) and I (22F) went to memories flamenco for the first time and our stay was from May 4-11th 2024 and we were very pleased with everything! We opted in for Diamond Club and we highly recommend due to the faster service, extra dinner reservation, and greater selection/variety of alcohol. FOOD: the food was spectacular, safe to say the best eats we had thus far in Cuba... as we've been many times. Seemed to be no shortages, but thi [... read more]s could be because we went at the beginning of their slow season. There was chicken, beef, pork, fish, and even fresh calamari! Although, i will mention on our final day (May 11) they shut down the main buffet and cut the amount of staff in half to prepare for their slow season! This wasn't ideal, but we couldn't complain because it was our last day. Keep this in mind if you are planning to go during may-september. You'll find longer wait times for food and drink and a lesser variety of foods at the smaller buffet. STAFF: the staff was amazing throughout the entire resort! All were so kind and pleased to serve you, we made plenty of friends with staff, and they were all so grateful for the tips and gifts we brought for them. NIGHTLIFE: As a young couple, we were hoping to have a more eventful nightlife. As they were downsizing they shutdown the sports bar which wasn't ideal. With no disco on-site, made nights more calmer. Although there is a disco 10 minute walk away which we didn't make it to. We were originally unsure of what we were going to get out of Memories flamenco due to the reviews and prices, but we were greatly impressed! We will definitely be returning to Memories Flamenco, and highly recommend this resort!

Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful resort

We enjoyed every moment … great people … great service… great friends old and new. We will be back and can’t wait! The weather was perfect as it has been for our last 4 visits and it it so nice to go back to a place where we feel familiar and where we feel at ‘home’.

Such a cute little quaint resort!!! Food really not that bad and it was our first trip to Cuba. The a la carte restaurant 'The Gourmet' must be hands down the best resort restaurant I've ever been to and I've been to Punta Cana and Mexico. The salmon there was top notch and smoked salmon very yummy. Room was great, no bugs, great balcony, AC was awesome, but unfortunately bathroom started leaking so they had us move to another room with a newer AC but it was much louder so I was missing our original room. The food in the buffets was just okay but nothing to complain about, one won't leave hungry. The ice cream is fabulous, the chocolate one is so rich, we made sure to have some everyday. We did a day trip to Havana to see old Havana and new Havana, it was definitely worth renting a classic car and taking 6 hours to do this. See Jenny at the Diamond Club and she'll set you up with the driver Givran and the tour guide Giselle. My God did she ever know her Cuban history, we learned so many interesting things and the ride was so smooth and enjoyable and they had AC in it whereas I heard other cars, the drivers weren't putting it on for their guests, not sure why. All in all, a fantastic trip and I would actually go back! :) The ocean was not inviting though unfortunately, too much slimy seaweed and rocks so we never went in. But I enjoyed the one pool at least, a nice adult resort. : )

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Excellent resort

After reading negative reviews I was worried. The food was the best I’ve had in Cuba in many years. Resort was clean, rooms were clean although dated. The pool was fantastic and beach breathtaking. I never wanted for anything all week. Would return again in the future.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Terrible resort

The grounds were always dirty, washrooms were filthy, they didn’t have any toilet paper in the washrooms or napkins in the buffet restaurant. The service in the pool bar , beach bar and beach restaurant was terrible. The blankets were smelly, the phones in the rooms didn’t work and the diamond club was a waste of money. The diamond club manager did nothing to fix any of the problems instead just made excuses. The beach is the most beautiful place but it’s too bad the hotel badly managed

Everybody know cuba are in crissis right now they lack of many things For example we did not get orange juice all week long BUT fresh mango and papaya juice every day And the BUT is important because for every little thing missing or not 100% perfect the staff was ready to go extra distance to help always apologizing with a smile « sorry we don’t have it today maybe tomorrow » the cuban people are the warmest people i know, and i have traveled in 11 countrys on 4 continents, despite the si [... read more]tuation they keep genuinely trying to help and make our stay enjoyable I was ashamed of some hotel guests rolling eyes or making loud comments on how intolerable was the fact that ONE days in the week they was missing fresh beach towel to exchanged, it is for sure a major crime to be obligated to reused your towel for a day (sarcasm there) So if your a Karen or a male Karen thinking people have to serve you and fulfill all your desires to the absolute perfection do go to cuba. if your able to live with the flow, make the best of the situation and go to that wonderful place where ALL the hotel staff have been nothing less than perfect

This resort is fairly big....separated adult and family....1.30 minutes drive away from the airport....but could be 2 hours depending on the traffic. Food wise....shortages are recognizable but always something to eat overall..... alcohol was fine.... canned beer all week. entertainment was fine.....3 pools..... middle pool being most active.... Beach was fine.....not as good as Santa Maria but overall good.
