Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Very disappointed

First time in Cuba. This resort was very disappointing. In desperate need of repair. 8 of us went, we had 4 room, 1 room was missing a light fixture (bare wires coming out of the wall). One room didn't have a bathroom door!!! No 24 hour bar! No swim up bar! The staff was nice and the entertainment team was always fun. But overall not a great resort. Won't go back.

Hotel Mojito: beautiful beach

My wife and I stayed here for 11 nights. The food is good, staff are great, lots of entertainment. Beach is wonderful and relaxing! Lots of fun. Beds are in desperate need of updating. Bar staff are great as well, make very good drinks.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Average resort!

We arrived after a 10 hour snow delay to warm weather. Check in was fine. Hit the beach until lunch. Meals are nothing to talk about as the food is very bland, usually cold to the touch with no quality controls put in place. Housekeeping was terrible. An example would be when my family showered that first night all of our towels were left in the tub to be replaced the next morning. When we came home the wet towels were left to hang out on the veranda over the ledge and on the chairs. Wow! [... read more] We also killed a cockroach and it remained on the floor for five days before it was swept up. Beds were small and very hard. Drinks were fine and the service was great. On a positive side, resort is beautiful, staff are friendly and a tip driven. Weather was so so with three days of cloud and one day of rain. Catamaran trip was fantastic and so was the private trip with a guide to Havana for the day. Overall, it was fun but would probable try a higher star resort next time. Thanks, Glenn

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great resort-poor rooms

The grounds were the best part of this resort, it was large and happening. Many bars and seating throughout, great lobby, nice terrace. The rooms were poor, they needed a little finesse. One towel only per person, no face or foot towels. Got a coffee machine after requesting one, the maid gave us only one broken mug, did not supply coffee daily. Only one pillow each, had to ask for it. Had to request an iron which we got, but no ironing board. Our toilet seat was broken, toilet didnt flush pro [... read more]perly. We took the lid off and flushed it by pulling the flap inside the tank manually.it took about 3 flushes to clean the bowl. We have been to Cuba many times, and we know their standards are different, but this was way off. The rooms need improvement. The curtains were half hanging off the hooks, they had a poor visual.We are not fussy people, so we overllooked it and enjoyed our week. It wont take much to improve it, just a little effort from the maids.We only changed our beach towels once throughout the week because they never had clean ones. The beach was great, we could always find a hut. The food wan't too bad for Cuba, a little repetitive but thats ok. Better than We would not recommend this hotel to fussy people. I would go back to this resort if a deal came along. Great grounds.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Great New Resort

The whole 5 day stay was great, starting with the check in that was amazingly fast with Hector being very helpful compared to any other resorts that we have been to. There were lots of loungers around the pool to be had even tho we didn't get there until 1pm. The staff were very helpful with getting us and our luggage to the room after we checked in. The glass between the shower and the bedroom had frosted glass in a lot of it so it wasn't a big deal. The food was ok, but if you are looking for fine dining, it is not. The boardwalk has lots of chairs to enjoy the scenery of the ocean and there is a short beach to enjoy walking out into the ocean or swimming. The mattress was very hard, so a pillow top would make for a better sleep as well as two pillows instead of one long one. But all in all we had a wonderful stay and enjoyed beautiful weather and would definitely recommend this resort, food aside to couples or families looking for a resort holiday with lots of great entertainment every night.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Our room was dirty others where ok

Very disguted with our room, sheets were stained and bathroom wall were very dirty, don't want to know what was on it, but rooms were spacious, it must have been beautiful at one time... friends had no problems in their rooms... hubby and i won't be returning for sure

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good bang for your buck!

Would recommend this resort. Very nice people who work there. Food was good. Excellent service. Pool staff made it enjoyable and fun. Could use better entertainment at night in their theatre....no big deal tho.. We would go back !!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Relaxing Stay & Friendly Staff

The resort is expansive and beautifully situated. The beaches are beautiful, with fine white sand & crystal clear water. We were treated wonderfully by the staff, who are among the friendliest people we've ever encountered. Excellent service from the buffet staff, Adults-Only area staff & beach waiters. Always greeted by workers /gardeners throughout the resort. Entertainers encouraged involvement from beach volleyball games to evening magic & dancing in the main lobby. Our expectations of [... read more] the food weren't too high, but the a la carte Cuban & seafood restaurants were quite good, as was the option of the omelette bar at breakfast. There are many choices at the buffet restaurants, but often bland & room temperature. We stayed in the Adults Only/Spa area. Our room was large, with a balcony, but it was pretty tired. It could use some improvements. Housekeeping was fine, but not as stringent as we're used to in a 5-star in North American hotels. Regardless, the fantastic staff & beauty of the beaches will draw us back to this resort!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Fantastic hotel

Great food, particularly the Steak and Gourmet restaurants. Great beach (comparable to Varadero or Punta Cana). Fantastic pools. Great service. Excellent entertainment. Very kid friendly. Highly recommended!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Our 3rd time to this excellent beach hotel, but will go again before KFC shows up

As you can imagine, we saw familiar faces when we got there the third time, staff there recognized us, too. This is not a single case - as a mater of fact, many visitors we met in the hotel also went back many times. Why? Here are some reasons I can think of: extremely friendly staff willing and accomodating all the time, food is good with variety on daily basis (e.g. four dinners out of seven have lobsters), clean and well maintained environment everywhere, excellent garden design and layout [... read more]; best private beach, and the only hotel with over 4KM walking distance one way end to end, etc., etc.. This hotel is masive. You see, you can enjoy all the delicious food, wine, juice and desert without gaining much weight - if you keep walking. Oh yes, if you fly Sunwing and you are thinking of buying an excursion, buy it during the flight, so that you pay CND$ without tax, saving you 30% vs. buying in hotel where you pay CUC (=USD$) by the same number. A lot more to tell but this is all I can remember today.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Fantastic Resort!

Beautiful, clean, modern resort. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent service. The food was ok. Typical Cuban resort food. Beds were firm with only one pillow and no more available but the rooms were clean and well maintained. We would go back again someday. Doesn't have miles of beach to walk but Pilar Beach is closeby and it wasn't an issue for us.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Absolutely Stunning Resort!!

This 14 month old hotel was everything everyone had said it would be and more. Very lovely rooms, restaurants and a la carte restaurants. The staff were so friendly and could not do enough for you. Lots of food choices and fresh made omelets and eggs in the morning and pasta and grilled fish and meat at lunch and supper. Very clean. Pool was gorgeous as was the beach area. Would highly recommend this resort and hopefully we will be able to go back in a year or so.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Top Notch Resort

The hotel itself is beautiful and reminds one of an upscale cruise ship. The surrounding property is so well laid out and fabulous looking that we were constantly commenting about it day after day. The staff at this resort makes a stay truly special. They are friendly, courteous, cheerful and so very helpful everywhere you go on the property. We prefer an oceanfront room and the superior ocean front suite did not disappoint. My wife loves looking out on the ocean from the comfort of her own balcony. As experienced travellers we can not imagine a hotel providing a better overall experience than the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice place, but it needs refurbishing

I imagine the original resort was great, but it is badly in need of maintenance. Broken fixtures, poorly done repairs, and other problems really detract from the experience of a great resort. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is okay by Cuban standards i.e. not very good. Beds are terrible and the air conditioning is feeble. Since the other resorts suffer from similar problems, I would recommend it as the better of other choices. Cuba is cheap and you get what you pay for.

JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar: Add this resort to your list!

Iberostar Grand Rose Hall, Jamaica, is amazing! We just returned from a week's stay and can't say enough about this destination. From start to finish it was wonderful! The staff are incredible and so friendly. The food was delicious and accommodating (allergy). The grounds are beautiful and so well kept. You will not be disappointed!

The hotel and grounds were very nice and clean.the staff was very helpful. The lobby was packed every night with people enjoying a drink.the food could of been better. I would tell my friends and family members to go, THEY HAVE A LOT TO DO AND SHOWS AT NIGHT ARE GREAT.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Tropical and elegance all in one package

We've never had a more wonderful vacation. The resort had the feel of the tropics but was so elegant wuth its marble walkways and tigerwood walkways. The water features in the evening were so beautiful. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was evident they wanted to make sure you were enjoying yourself. The food was amazing. Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Very nice resort

Dining rooms were very elegantly designed and serviced, with excellent food.Nice entertainment, some not family oriented, beach was nice, watch out for nudists though, we were surprised as no notice given about that. Service and staff were very friendly, all in all a relaxing experience.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Love Cuba!

Check in was easy and we got an ocean view room as per our request. The room was dated and the door looked like it had been forced open more than once😟. The patio doors opened with difficulty and the lock didn't always work. The resort itself is kept clean and the staff are amazing. It's small and not once did we feel any sense of overcrowding. Very interesting to watch as well. There are sand flies and I received a number of bites but they weren't a problem. Not one mosquito and saw one creepy crawler in our bathroom once but hey it's the tropics! Our housekeeper Mailon spoiled us!!! Can't thank her enough for all the little extras she did! Loved the towel art! The food wasn't bad for Cuba and I'm fussy! Having a healthcare background, I assess the food hygiene continually. Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Great Holiday

We enjoyed 10 days at this resort(feb8-feb18)..the rooms are dated but kept exceptionally clean. The first room we were given was very musty smelling and had 2 beds, we were disappointed, but the man who brought our luggage said not to touch anything in the room and to talk to the reception desk..we did this and they were very accommodating and gave us another room more to our liking. Very nice pool with one side for activities and the other for more relaxation, with the pool bar open to both sides.Small beach with rocky entrance to water (bring water shoes) going in off the pier was fine....lots of beach on either side of resort if you like walking on the beach....the dressel divers on site are very professional, my husband got his certification and enjoyed many dives...you can also go snorkeling with them and they provide you with wetsuits and a guide for the group and take you out to the 2 diving reefs....there is a souvenir shop by the pool where you can paint ceramics and they will bring them back the next day after firing them. ...entertainment was so so, but it didn't really matter to us. .all in all it was a very positive experience, beautiful country, beautiful people and a resort that has more of a village or family feel to it.... the sunsets over the ocean are spectacular rent a vehicle for a day and explore the Atlantic side of the island (ChenRio is a great place to stop for seafood and beautiful beach) Would return in a heartbeat
