Barcelo Maya Colonial: Absolutely Fabulous Resort

We have only great things to say about this resort. Our only wish is that we had gone for a longer duration... 8 days was simply not enough time. We are looking to return as early as next spring. The food was delicious and so much variety at all the restaurants and grills by the beach. We tried something new every day. The grounds were always perfectly manicured. Our accommodations were well appointed and always cleaned on time. There were numerous activities to try. We loved working out in the  [... read more]morning and afternoons with Lynn and Jennifer our "Swedish Trainers". We also enjoyed the Zumba, stretching and water aerobics classes. If we had not done some of these activities on a daily basis I think we would have gained a lot of weight from all the terrific food. We would like to thank Karol Charez for recommending this resort to us. It will now become one of our favorites.

Barcelo Karmina: Amazing resort

It was our 7th time at this resort. The food staff and the grounds are incredible I would highly recommend this resort. The weather is always sunny and warm. The rooms are beautiful. Can't wait to go back

Barcelo Solymar: Average Cuban hotel

Decent hotel with edible food, standard drinks, close to town. All the beaches in Veradero are beautiful! Don't go to Cuba to be wined and dined, but if you enjoy the beach, and can overlook the small stuff, and week is more than enough. Slightly better than other Varadero hotels I've stayed: 4 Palms, Barlovento, Punterana (don't go)

Barcelo Solymar: Good resort

Nice friendly resort. Staff and room service were great. Rooms and food were decent. Great entertainment. Beaches were beautiful. And only a short walk away from Havana club, the Beatles etc. Would go back :)

Barcelo Huatulco: Great family atmosphere resort...

Really enjoyed the fact this resort is not huge. Design lay out is very good , so walking distances to the beach, dining,and pool are not more than a couple of minutes. Nice balcony size for the morning coffee and sunrise, while serenaded by ocean waves and the birds around the pool area . Really enjoyed watching the kiddies pool area with the fountain and water slides. Perfect for a grand kid holiday. Fishing and snorkling trips are waiting at the beach. Barcelo Karmina: beautiful resort

The hotel is amazing ...food was great ..very clean and the service was excellent...as for the disco we would go every night and dance till it closed ...the entertenment in the evening was also very nice ...thx for the wonderful week ..looking forward to seeing this resort again.

Barcelo Solymar: Never again

Never again never again ... Horrible service ... Horrible food ... Horrible staff .. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Do yourself a favour and do not go to this place because it was the worst experience of our lives.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: great beach

A great resort. Excellent service and food. I appreciated the fact there were covered walkways so even when there was rain at night we were able to go to restaurants without getting wet! Also there were lots of chairs on the beach so there were no towel game being played.

Occidental Caribe: Served our family very well

Good service, food and entertainment.Great pools for children to swim.the beach is the very best along the resort strip!Room was clean and well made every day.This was our second time at the resort and I would de definitely return.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great Trip with group of friends

Hotel accommodation is excellent since the renovation with a playable yet challenging golf course with 5 sets of markers to choose from. Food was not warm enough on the buffet even if the first in to eat and A La Carte food was salty unless asked for no sel (Salt). This was down from last years food. Pools are great and seems like they do a great job on classy weddings.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Absolutely amazing!

We had stayed at this resort many times in the past but hadn't been here for 4 years and we were blown away at the changes. We stayed in the 5100 block and in all of our travels have never had a room as nice. The golf course was beautiful and the food was better than previous visits.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: I keep returning over and over again!

This resort is beautiful, with amenities of all sorts, so convenient but most of all, it is the wonderful staff, whom I now consider my friends, that keep me coming back. They go above and beyond to ensure that each guest feels like royalty!! While there, I litterally have a "Perma-Smile". Can't wait until my next visit to what I consider to be my 2nd home..

Sunscape Puerto Plata: FANTASTIC BARCELO VACATION!

The hotel was the cleanest all-inclusive resort I have ever been to. The food was phenomenal and extremely varied making all vacationers in the family very happy. The people were extraordinary, going out of their way to ensure everyone in teh family had the vacation of their dreams (relaxing for the parents, active for the children, exciting for the teenagers). The pool is very accessible, beautiful, clean. The beach was very easy to access and the activities offered such as parasailing, snorkel [... read more]ing and tubing were awesome. Our Westjet orientation guide was great, and the off resort adventures also offered a good variety of activities to choose from that were all fairly reasonably priced. I felt very safe and comfortable, while getting a really good touch of the local culture.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Wonderful hotel and holiday!

This resort is gorgeous and the service was fantastic. The rooms are a great size and all kept very clean, fridge stocked. The resort is so big, so much room around the pools and on the beach! Good was also great, especially in the Japanese restaurant! We went for a wedding and it was gorgeous! Will def recommend this hotel to friends and family!

Barcelo Solymar: DO NOT STAY AT SOLYMAR!!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! Extremely bad service and a lot of noise! I just returned from Varadero on Nov 3rd. Please do yourself a favour and pick another hotel. There are a ton of other hotels to choose from. BAD SERVICE – trust the reviews when you read that the Solymar has bad service. I took those reviews with a grain of salt because Im a pretty low maintenance person; so coming from a low maintenance person this place has bad service! It started with check-in. The agent asked for my pas [... read more]sport and voucher. In the 3 seconds it took for me to get my documents she started to serve someone else. Not just one person, she served 3 or 4 people until I finally said “are you planning on coming back?”. Anytime I was at the bar the service was awful. Others would routinely get served before me. One time I ordered a beer at one end of the bar and instead of the bartender bringing me my drink he left it at the other end of the bar for me to go pick up. Now for the worst part, in the dining room, not at any time did any waiter come to my table to offer my water, tea, wine or anything! I was in there 5 times and each time I was getting my own drinks. I do believe that was racially driven as I’m Black and was the only Black person there. I watched as other guests were receiving table side service. The service in the dining room improved only after I complained to both the dining room manager and the hotel manager. I shouldn’t have to complain in order to get proper service. What is frustrating is that I choose that hotel. I didn’t just book the cheapest trip. Do yourself a favor and skip this hotel (especially if you’re Black!) It’s not worth it. You can find another hotel with better service and less noise. LOUD - My other complaint is it is quite loud with super young drunk people. I can deal with noise and rowdiness but this seemed over the top. My first night, I was awoken by drunken yelling outside my room at 4am. The next day I asked to switch to a quieter part of the hotel only to be told that I was already in the quietest part! In fairness, I will state what I did like. Although it was kind of far from the beach, the overall location is good and walking distance to the 2 main clubs in Varadero – Havana Club and Calle 62. I also thought it was aesthetically a nice hotel and room. But that said, there are plenty of other nice hotels with better service out there.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Breath taking resort!

The Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe was such an amazing resort. I've stayed at a few 5-Stars and Barcelo was definitely one of my favorites. Everything was so clean and well landscaped. I would sit on my balcony in the morning and watch everyone was everything down from the loungers/bars/floors/sidewalks. Our room was very spacious. The housekeeping was absolutely wonderful. I was travelling with my two young children and they would always leave extra bottles of water and cookies. The mini bar was  [... read more]restocked daily. The food was amazing for caribbean food. They have a train that runs all day and most of the night because the resort is sooooo big. I could go on and on. It was a wonderful vacation.

Barcelo Solymar: Average hotel

The hotel is in a good location for walking distance into town where you will meet wonderful people. The room was clean but dated and the food was half decent, during our stay a lot of the hotel was shut down due to renovations. The hotel setup is not ideal as it's hard to find a good spot to sit and enjoy a drink, we spent most of our time in town and only slept at the resort .

Barcelo Solymar: awesome resort

the grounds were kept up, pool was great, food has improved front desk staff not very friendly lobby entertainment was better, and animation team was good for Cuban entertainers. Public relations people were amazing

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Incredible vacation!

The rooms we stayed in had jacuzzis on the balcony which was amazing! The food was really delicious! And everyone was so friendly and fun. We did a couple of excursions as well and I highly recommend everything this resort offers!

Beautiful place, clean rooms, personel it was very impressed, food it was ok, to salty no to much choice. Beach ok!!very very cleen looby and restaurants, not cheerful hostess, people and charge of swimming pool towels very rude!!
