Riu Reggae: Rui Reggae

Very clean new resorts. They work hard to keep all the eating areas clean and good food. Felt more catered to couples between 25 and 50. No nightlife at this particulater resort but offered close by. Overall a good trip but my husband and I like quieter resort so for us a little noisy. Ha. We're getting old.

Riu Palace Antillas: Riu Antilles

Hotel very dated very old rooms way less than 4-5 star virtually no grounds carpets in hallways somewhat musty. Not a write off place but not as advertised and not the value for the cost.food was top rate & people very friendly

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Training Training Training

We stayed at the Riu Palace from Feb. 19 to Feb 26. This is an older resort and we were told that they will be closed from June until September of this year for renovations. It does need some work in the rooms and the pool has to be re tiled. The front lobby was nice and the staff at the desk were very informative. The cleaning staff on our floor were very friendly and said good morning when we saw them, they would also ask us how our day went and when leaving, told us to have a safe flight home [... read more]. I think some retraining needs to be done while they are closed. While walking in the hall or lobby I would often pass some of the staff, they had their head down and I had to say hello before I would get a response. It is very welcoming and friendly when the staff say hello. Simple thing to do and say, It makes you feel welcome. The bar staff at the pool need to follow Leo and Donny. They were always pleasant and friendly. The other bar staff need to follow that routine, it would go a mile. The pool bar was never manned by anyone , they would always stand up top and ask you what you wanted. Their was no conversation with the staff because they always went back up top. Just some small tips to help out while they are closed, retrain and help your staff to be friendly. We had three days of rain but you can't help that. Riu Bambu: Okay resort

The resort was a little "tired" looking. I was surprised to find that we had an actual "key" with our room number on it and a large fob to carry it with. Not very secure if you had lost it! The beach there is one of the best that I have seen. Sand was beautiful and you could walk for miles. The rest of the resort was just okay. They had a lot of activities but I just found that the staff were not very friendly and if you wanted to have alcohol in your drinks you mostly had to ask for i [... read more]t. Sometimes they would put it in, sometimes not. Rooms were a little weird in that the toilet was separate but the sinks and shower were part of the room. If you go make sure whoever you are with you are not shy about undressing in front of them. Beds were okay although my daughter had to sleep on a pull out couch (there was three of us in the room). She said it was not very comfortable. Overall it was not terrible, just for an extra couple of hundred we could have stayed at the Riu down the road which looked from what we saw much nicer. Food was typical all inclusive fare.

Riu Ocho Rios: Beaufitul resort.

We were on the deluxe side (oceanview) of this resort and it was beautiful. The rooms were spacious and clean and very nice all way around. The pool was amazing - I specifically liked the infinity and swim up bar pool. Lots of very nice lounge chairs to sit and relax on at the beach and around the pool. The food was one of the best I have had during any of my travels. My only vice is that you were not allowed to make a reservation at the a la carte restaurants - it was first come first serv [... read more]e - so if you preferred to have a late dinner you would sometimes miss out. However no complaints about the food at all. The staff is amazing and super friendly and they are all absolutely beautiful people :). We decided to go off the resort to do a bit of site seeing to get to see some of the Jamaican life style and culture - we used an off site company called "KnowJamaica" which is owned and operated by a Mother and Son team born and raised in Jamaica! They are truly awesome people and provided us with a fun filled day. Their prices are very reasonable and also Javia (the son) is very easy on the eyes! (tee hee). If you see some pics on their website of 6 crazy looking Canadian women having fun - well that very well could be our group! We were smiling from ear to ear and had a wonderful day. Riu Santa Fe: Rui Santa Fe

We had a fantastic time at this resort and would highly recommend it to others! The grounds, the service, the food, the pools...... all AMAZING! I didn't want to leave and will go back 100% in the future.... SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Riu Santa Fe: Beautiful Resort

The resort grounds, buildings, structures, pools and central public square were all beautiful. The staff were fantastic. The entertainment was ok. Our room was really nice, but lacked an alarm clock and a coffee maker. Where the resort fell short was with the restaurant services. For a resort of this size (905 rooms) there were only 4 a la carte restaurants, which did not take reservations, so guests had to line up and wait or show up at a later time and hope that the wait list had been taken c [... read more]are of. The service in the a la carte in a few restaurants were slow and the food was served cold... very disappointed. The buffet was very good.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Amazing resort

The beach was ok, the rest was fantastic. ( food cleanliness staff) all 5 star. Be careful when you book tours makes sure you ask how far it is, some are 1 1/2 hours away some others one are 5 hrs away and some longer. The only down fault to this trip was the flight. Not much room on the plane seats are small just pray there not a big person sitting beside you. The flight attendant gives us the wrong paper work which cause a big delay in Costa Rica airport.

Riu Reggae: Riu Reggae Review

We had a fantastic stay at the Riu Reggae! We were a little nervous after reading some of the other reviews but it was a great week! The food was 5 star and the hotel was immaculate in cleanliness. We were so impressed with just how clean the facilities were. The beach is small, but the pools are huge and very nice (2x swim up bars) We didn't like the line up's for dinner. However, the food was worth the wait in the end! Also we were sort of disappointed that they did not have pool side  [... read more]/ beach side drink service but again, it's a smaller resort and beach area so the drinks are only steps away. We noticed that there were not many "ocean view" rooms and those who had a garden or street view had sort of a nasty view. We didn't mind because we did not spend a lot of time in our room but if we were to go back, we'd opt for an ocean view. The room however was very nice and modern, comfortable bed and working AC.

Riu Santa Fe: Amazing resort

Good food, very clean. Beautiful view from our ocean view room. Will repeat visit this hotel. A little loud in the wee hours of the morning but other then that it was a great experience. Taxi cabs to town were there within minutes.

Riu Palace Pacifico: Nice grounds, good food, generally great service, rest ok-ish...

Grand but tired hotel. Food good. Junior suite had 2 beds pushed together. Beds comfortable, room tired. Pool pretty, beach very good, only one bar for all so under services pool and beach ~ impacts rating. One bathroom for restaurants, pool and beach ~ impacts rating. 30 min walk to edge of Bucerias, 25 min by taxi or hour by bus (2 stops) to Nuevo Vallarta.

Riu Bambu: Rui Bambu

The beach was large beautiful and clean. The grounds were clean and very well manicured with nice hedges and hundreds of healthy Palm trees. The pool area was very nice and also well maintained. The people who worked there were lovely and worked extremely hard. The entertainment staff were great and also worked long hours. The food was terrible cold and everything cooked in oil the drinks were average with no premium liquor. We were in a deluxe room which was far from deluxe the furniture was f [... read more]alling apart . The white laminated furniture was peeling apart. The mattress hard as a rock and terrible lumpy pillows. The AC you could not adjust and the room was damp and I was sick with a cold by day 3. Was unable to open patio door as we backed on to dirty construction site where they were building a pool. Also there were many cats roaming everywhere on the resort which were literally starving to death which was very upsetting.

Riu Guanacaste: Fantastic Resort!!

Just home from a fantastic week at the Riu Guanacaste. Great day trip Zip lining - fantastic Sunset Cruise. The hotel was so clean and the staff did all they possibly could to make sure we had everything we needed. Was worried about the specialty restaurant line ups but not an issue. We would have a specialty Martini in the lobby and eat just after eight O'Clock. Wonderful experience.

Riu Reggae: Riu Reggae first Jamaica Trip

Hmm ok here go , traveled to a lot to other Caribbean Islands so I have a fairly good basis to make a unbiased review. Food - very good you will put some pounds on , something for everyone Staff- fantastic , great service , great attitude , never hustled for a tip Rooms- clean and modern well stocked with water, pop, beer and 4 -26ers of hard liquor all included Resort- clean, modern design , well laid out ,very little walking , two pools always found a lounge chair any time of day Beach- h [... read more]mm its only weak point when your used to beaches you can walk until you drop.Its small cramped and man made ,hemmed in by two man made rocky outcrops that there is no walking around possible ,hard core beach bumbs will be disappointed. Its on the airport flight path , good or bad depending if you like watching passenger jets flying by at a 1000 ft 20 times a day Excursions - make sure you read all the other reviews , some were disappointing and others were great so choose well, food -booze off resort is expensive , this is what I gathered from other guests that took some trips , as for me my Catamaran trip was canceled and refunded due to weather. Local Tourist Markets- thats a rough one , very very aggressive vendors , put your armour on and prepare to battle , don't pay asking price haggle it down.Learn to politely say NO Thankyou Buy your booze at the airport on the way out , huge duty free like the one in the Toronto Airport , good prices and huge selection For the Rasta in all of us well lets just say Bob Marley is alive and well there and drifts by in the wind occasionally LOL IMO good value , got one hell of a tan , put a few lbs on and met a lot of great people , adult only so not too many drunk ass punks thank god,I have been in some places on the reading week S--T Show

Riu Palace Bavaro: Good resort

The food and service was very good, the hotel rooms were clean, the beachfront was spectacular. Not many activities/games took place during the day - other resorts appeared much more lively. Entertainment at night was ok.

Riu Guanacaste: Loved it!

Excellent resort! Beautiful, clean, well-maintained. Food was delicious and varied. Enough seats that without reservations you could still normally get into one of the ala carte restaurants without too long of a wait, at least for two people. Pool was great, loved the swim up bar. And while they had music playing it wasn't the blaring loud beat music that we have experienced at other resorts. Entertainment at the pool and in the evenings was very good. Service everywhere in the resort was excellent, the people friendly and courteous. Free wifi in the lobby only for 90 minutes per day, but that is ok! Who wants to be online all the time with all the fun and beauty surrounding them? The wifi had a great signal strength and it was easy to upload lots of photos to Facebook etc when we did want to be online. Beautiful country, beautiful people, would go again in a heartbeat!

Riu Ocho Rios: First time trip to Jamaica in an Amazing Resort

I had such a great time at this beautiful resort. Not only was i there for a vacation but i was there for my Wedding! The staff were so nice and the weather was amazing! I would definitely go back to this resort! The food was great especially the steak! I thoroughly enjoyed my time!

Riu Playa Blanca: Great Resort

Absolutely loved this resort. I would probably rate it less than 5 The entire hotel and grounds was kept very clean. The staff were all kind and helpful. We found the better bartender/ coffee makers Eduardo and Rosibel fast servers and fun to chat with. The buffets had a good variety of food to choose from and you could find something different every time. The Italian restaurant served great food a la carte and had buffet style also. Perfect for families. At the Steakhouse the orders in [... read more] our group got all mixed up. The steak was not the quality we hoped for. It was quite fatty. We felt a bit rushed with the entire dining experience. Our room was a bit strange as instead of a king bed we had 2 double beds pushed together. All said and done you can't beat the weather.

Riu Palace Punta Cana: Phenomenal Resort

I can't say enough about our Hotel and Resort. The travel agent had put in the comments when booking that it was our 25 year anniversary and they upgraded us to a beautiful honeymoon suite. Stellar service and staff all around. The hotel grounds and rooms were extremely clean.....never any garbage anywhere. I can honestly say one of the best vacations... Oh ya,food was out of this world. There were always a huge variety all the time.

Riu Vallarta: I'm open to try a different Riu Hotel

The Hotel lobby was open and clean. The room where average, nothing special, smelled like mildew in the room. The bed was very uncomfortable, hard, and springs poking through the mattress, and only 3 small lumpy pillows. I went down and talked with staff at the desk the very next morning and inquired about another room. The lady behind the desk was very rude. She said, "what's wrong with you lady, your on the 8th floor!'' I told her that bed was the issue not the 8th floor. Then she said there w [... read more]ere no rooms available. The food was average for an all inclusive, the a la cart were not managed well-the manager said it was first come first serve, so I went and grabbed my friends within 2 minutes and returned back to Sir Georges and he said they were full. He did give me a puck and it lit up about 2 hours later. I wish he would have just gave me a puck right away. The buffet cafés had birds flying in out, at least 80% of the food was covered. I developed irritable bowel syndrome at this hotel, and took another week to recover. There were 2 pools , clean, one was family centered, hard to find a spot unless you woke at 6 am. I found that the bar tenders ignored the women and not the men when ordering drinks. There was plenty of entertainment every day at the pool and just about every night . People were hooting and hollering every night up to 2 a.m. So excellent place to stay if you enjoy the night life.
