Hotel Camino del Mar: Another great vacation

Grounds are recovering nicely from hurricane. Staff as friendly and accommodating as ever. Issues with no see ums after rain still am issue. Take bug spray. Fishing seems to better than ever with lots of fish caught

Hotel Playa Coco: Absolutely love Cayo Coco!!!

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Playa Coco. The staff were wonderful and the service was great. We enjoyed our a la cartes but we did find the buffet didn't have a lot of variety but what they did have was fresh and delicious. The rooms are spacious and the maid service was wonderful. You can tell when you look around it's not a brand new hotel and a few fixtures here and there could use a little bit of fine-tuning but overall we had a great time and we're pleased with our choice. And last but definitely not least beautiful white sand beaches that you just couldn't get enough of.

Hotel Vigia: Stay away! Too many issues

I took my 3 year old son with me to this resort. First our flight was delayed almost 4 hours, they put the wrong luggage on. Then during our 7 day stay the entire resort ran out of water 3 different time (wait was about 3 hours for water, each time!) and hydro outage twice, keep in mind the resort wasn’t even at half capacity. They allow locals on the resort who are very rude and will get served before you with a larger quantity of food even if you ordered before them not to mention they are d [... read more]isgusting leaving garbage anywhere, spitting on the ground where ppl walk!! Also one of their kids kicked my son in the head while he was waiting to get on the slide, when I said something to the 9 year old girl she shrugged her shoulds and dismissed my comment of being careful. My son wasn’t able to go on the slide for 3 days as the local kids were so obnoxious that we avoided the pool!!! How ridiculous is that!! On top of that one of the entertainment staff (local to Cuba) was going around asking men if they wanted to buy women for money for a night!! There own staff members are pimping women out for money (he is the only blonde staff member) I was soo disgusted with this resort it’s not worth your money or time to go see! Then I had another staff member harassing me and my friend (she came with my son and I) every time he seen us he would whistle and make a scene. Seriously go somewhere else. This clearly isn’t a very classy resort and it doesn’t matter if kids are present or not.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Mediocre

Booked last minute no time to research, after 30+ visits to Cuba this one was the worst hotel. Food was acceptable but lack of plumbing, towels, cutlery, one bottle of water as per hotel policy per week and awful service in the buffet and not the generally good vibe you get in Cuba I wouldn’t recommend. Not fussy but expect the necessities would rate it a 3.5 out of 10.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great resort

This was by far the busiest resort in the immediate area (you can walk to 3 others on the beach) for a good reason, It is well maintained, great friendly staff, very good food , nightly entertainment, and people just like it so much that they get a lot of repeat customers. We talked to people that have been coming here for 9 years!! The grounds are beautiful but suffered a lot from the hurricane losing probably 50% of the palm trees and shrubs, they are replanting the shrubs but no Palms yet, ho [... read more]wever still looks pretty good. The premium room views are wonderful, close to the beach, white sand and blue ocean, the rooms in this 4 star resort are quite a bit smaller than the last 5 star resort we stayed at, although with the great weather we were hardly in them, They had 2 Cuban barbecues during our 10 day stay , with open fire roasted Pig, turkey, chicken,ribs, corn and more , all tasted great, The buffet was very good with cooking stations for Pasta,Pizza, Meat, and fish, along with good fruit and salad areas. Overall I would recommend this resort to family and friends, with one caution, it is quite windy on the beach , this area is a kite surfing destination as the winds are consistent, we only had 2 really calm days, and 1 day that the sand was blowing quite a bit, pool is also small for a 300 plus person resort. Non of that would keep us from going there again .

Hotel Playa Coco: Great resort

I was back for my 5th time, found many changes from the hurricane. They are still in a clean up and building mode, what has been completed is lovely, my daughter and I had a wonderful time the food was good with a variety to please all. Rooms were good but could use some more drawers for clothing. Staff wonderful always willing to help. Beach lovely. Once all repairs and buildings complete this will be a resort for all to visit.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nova Scotia Crew

The grounds were put back together nicely especially knowing they are only a few months after Irma. The rooms were always cleaned well and the staff in lobby; buffet and most of the bars were great. There were times the pool bar staff could have been a little more attentive to folks. One A La Carte - Oriental was fine, the only thing I found is Pad Tai should be served hot not cold, and I didn't see mention it was Shrimp in it, could be a problem if you had an alergy. We are return guests and were told that we would receive a nice bottle of rum and an invite to the Japanese Restaurant and although we mentioned neither of these things happened and went to Customer Service it didn't happen. One of the two people with us had some issues with their room and it took sometime to get this fixed up, however Alberto and his staff did go above and beyond to make things right, and it was really just a bump. The lunch time buffet by pool on left was wonderful and great food. We tried the "beach pizza" and it was also fantastic and a lot of folks enjoyed this. As far as line ups, it is to be expected when you go to a large resort however we didn't really seem to have a problem with this. Yes the odd time there was a line up, I have been to both large and small resorts and pretty much same wait times. The vegies in the main buffet always seemed cold which was disappointing - suggest a few microwaves where you can pop in food you really want hot and not cold. Might help with the problem. The main pool really really really needs to be cleaned better. The algae on the sides and cloudiness kept me out of this pool, the other pool by the towel drop off was very clean.

Hotel Mojito: Amazing Resort - Great and Friendly Staff

This resort was great, great staff in all areas of the resort, rooms were great, food was great lots of variety. Beach area well taken care of and beach bar/restaurant amazing food. The staff went out of their way to make you feel important. This is definitely a place I would go back to again.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing staff

This resort was beautiful. Although it is huge, everything was in walking distance. Grounds were very well taken care of. Beach was stunning. Great service at a the bars. Buffet was not great. No signage to tell you what the food was. The mexican restaurant and the 24 hour grill were our best options for food. Beds and pillows were uncomfortable. Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Fantastic vacation!

Exceeded my expectations. Beautiful beach. Great staff. Amazing views! The buffet is a typical buffet, however the chocolate chip cookies are to die for. We went to the restaurant overlooking the pool & ocean every morning for a fresh omelette. Thank you Gina!!!

Melia Costa Rey: Would Be a 5-Star Review If We Didn't Have to Change Our Room

I'm going to mix in tips for future travelers with my review, so strap in. My wife and I just got back from a week-long trip to Pullman Cayo Coco. It was our 2nd trip to Cayo Coco, first time at this resort (first one was to Memories Flamenco two years ago, which I may allude to). Room 1 (bad): I'm going to start off with our worst negative experience which is the only reason why I couldn't give 5 stars. When we arrived, we were given a key to room 21009. Let me tell you, if you get handed [... read more] a key to this room, request a room change immediately. Don't even look at it. First off, and probably least importantly, I had requested a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, and I was given a ground floor room; this was a personal request and not the responsibility of the hotel per se, so I don't hold too much against them for that. The problems were much worse than that, though. First, there were small blood stains on the sheets. Second, the view from the room is of garbage and a shipping crate behind a barbed wire fence. Third, the bathroom doors did not close. Fourth, the toilet did not flush (I actually fixed this myself, I had to reattach a piece in the tank which had come loose and prevented the tank from filling). Fifth, the TV remote didn't work (flat out broken, I swapped the batteries and it still didn't work). I immediately went to the front desk and asked for a room change, they said I'd have to wait until the next day and would replace the sheets that night. Took them over an hour to send a staff member (we missed dinner time at this point) to "replace them". I put that in quotes because they didn't replace them; they pulled the bloody sheet off, folded it up and put it on a chair (yes, they left it in the room), and then pulled a fleece blanket that was in the closet onto the bed. At this point, we were so exhausted from the travel and lack of food that we just went to bed (my wife slept on the couch because the bed grossed her out so much). First thing in the morning, I went back to the front desk, listed off everything that was wrong, and was told there would be nothing available until the next day. That wasn't good enough, so we went to customer service (an office downstairs by the Japanese restaurant), and demanded a new room. Magically, a new room was available, but the guests were still there and were told it would be ready by noon. At noon, we went to the front desk to get our key, it was not ready. We grabbed lunch, went back at 1, still not ready. We were told to "relax and enjoy the amenities", which was an insane thing to say in that circumstance. Finally, we talked to someone else, an angel who was actually willing to help. Regrettably, I didn't catch her name, but I think she was a supervisor or a manager because she wore a white shirt as opposed to the green shirts the other staff were wearing (Jean-Luc, if you read this, she was working during the day on April 13). She immediately got on the phone with the cleaning staff and boogied them along, and our room was ready 20 minutes after she got involved. She sent a bellhop to our crappy room to get our luggage and drive us over to our new room in building 43. She literally saved our vacation, and I'm pissed I didn't catch her name. Room 2: Gorgeous. It was still on the ground floor but whatever, that was never a dealbreaker. Clean, modern (for Cuba, compared to Memories it was basically a suite), and comfortable. The bathroom was gorgeous: nice shower with perfect pressure, modern fixtures, the tub was snug but I'm a tall guy. We were in building 43, in which there is not a bad view because you're either looking at the lagoon or you're looking at the nice courtyard, plus you're far enough away from the pool so you don't get the noise from the lobby and pool area if you're sleeping/taking a siesta. The mini bar was stocked daily. Food: The food in Cuba is what it is, just like anywhere else; some people like it, some people don't. My comparison is only to the food at Memories Flamenco. I gotta say, the food was great in comparison. We skipped the a la carte reservations we had because we were more than satisfied by the buffet, so we could eat on our schedule and know we were getting a good meal. I personally really enjoyed the rice, the beef and pork dishes they had prepared, the pasta bar, the fish grill, the desserts, and if they have the flambe fruit when you do, get that, immediately. My wife enjoyed the roast chicken and potatoes, the carrots, the rice and mince meat (she mixed them together), and the hamburgers. For lunch, by far the best option is at the snack bar when the guy has the charcoal grill going. I had the best BBQ chicken there I have ever had, no exaggeration. The snack bar itself gets a little busy and the wait can be long, but the food is decent (I liked the Cuban sandwich). Drinks: The drinks were all great, pretty standard for Cuba. The coffee was excellent, both just the standard coffee and the fancy stuff. One lacking element was mango nectar, get on that! Entertainment: The entertainment staff were all great, nice and energetic even when audience participation was lacking. If I had any complaint, it's that I wish they were up there more! The evening shows at the theatre were good, but just okay. The one exception was the Rock Show which was absolutely fantastic and got everybody pumped up, especially the baby boomers who basically creamed when they played AC/DC (I'm a millenial so I was more partial to when they broke out Zombie by The Cranberries). The band was extremely talented and knew just how to pander to the crowd. The lobby and restaurant musicians were all great. Pool: The pools were excellent. A good mix of shallow for kids and entertainment, and deeper for actual swimming (nothing overly deep; I'm partial to a very deep pool but I feel like that's rare in general nowadays). You may have already read some reviews that finding a shaded chair is a chore, and that is true. On our pool days, we were up at 6am and at the pool by 6:15, and a lot of the chairs already had towels on them. Our biggest beef was that people would reserve chairs, and then not show up for like five hours, and then stay for 20 minutes and disappear again. This is a difficult situation. You can't blame it completely on the hotel, because this obviously starts with a few obnoxious tourists, and then everyone else is obligated to do it as a necessity, but at the same time, the hotel should have stepped in and basically removed any unoccupied towels from chairs at, say, 7am. Tough situation, lots of blame to go around. If you're going, you basically have to do it if you don't want to fry in the sun, but I would say, be the better person and actually stay at your chair all day (minus swimming, bathroom and food of course) instead of the obnoxious tool who makes a bad situation worse by reserving a chair all day and actually using it for 20 minutes, because eventually someone with less self-control than me is going to take your towel off the chair and throw it in the pool. Beach: The beach was also fantastic. At Memories Flamenco, there was a lot of volcanic rock on the beach which meant you had to wear water shoes basically all the time, but not here, all white sand and shells. I heard somewhere that the beaches in Cuba have been a lot sandier since Irma, I don't know if that's true or not, but I wouldn't doubt it. There is a battle for chairs with shade, similar to the pool, but not nearly as instense. The battle is moreso for the grass cabanas and blue chairs (more comfortable than the white chairs), but you can go down mid-morning and still get one of gazebo-style shelters with the white plastic chairs no problem. It was pretty windy the majority of our trip but the one calm day (before it rained) we went out on kayaks, which was great. The water is gorgeous and warm, the beach is extensive and clean. Resort: The resort itself was very modern and clean. It was built in 2015 I believe; it looks a bit more worn than that but at the same time, it was hit by a devastating hurricane not long ago and you would never know it. The lobby is gorgeous and expansive, and has a great view of the pools and ocean. The resort is laid out nicely. Lots of bars available. The fitness centre is definitely one of the better ones I've seen at a hotel or resort, although a few of the machines were out of order. We didn't use the spa but it looked nice, especially the massage tables overlooking the lagoon. They have tennis courts and a shared basketball court/soccer pitch. They have table games by the pool (ping pong, foosball and billards). The theatre was a good size and the chairs were comfortable. I'm not a smoker but I heard lots of people commenting positively about the cigar bar. Apparently there's a sports bar somewhere but I never found it. Service: I already vented about the service when I tried to get my room changed above. Beyond that, I found the service excellent: the food service, bartenders and housekeepers especially. Special shout out to the guy at the snack bar charcoal BBQ who make me the best BBQ chicken ever, the guy at the pasta bar at dinner time who was always a pleasure, and the guy who did the flambe fruit and made presentation a priority. Overall, I couldn't recommend this resort more. Had we not received the worst room in the resort at first and had just gotten the room we spent the rest of the week in right off the bat, this would be a 5-star review. If you're looking for a week of good food, good drinks, friendly people and rest & relaxation, Pullman is a great option. We would definitely go back and recommend to our friends and family. As a bonus, here is a brief comparison between Memories Flamenco (with Diamond Club) and Pullman, just because this was something I was looking for before we booked, so maybe someone else would find it helpful: Rooms: Pullman is better Food: Pullman is better (even with the reserved Diamond Club seating at Memories, we almost never had an issue getting a table at Pullman) Drinks: Tie Entertainment: Memories is better Pool: The actual pools were better at Pullman, although it was easier to get a shaded spot at Memories Beach: Pullman is better (even with the reserved Diamond Club beach at Memories) Resort: Pullman is better Service: Memories is better Overall Value: Tie (as long as you get Diamond Club at Memories). That said, if you can spare the extra $$, the cleanliness and modernness of Pullman is worth it.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Wonderful resort

Love this resort, beautiful grounds, all the food was delicious and a lot of options! Bed was super comfy!Staff are amazing and the entertainment is excellent ! The beach is best in all of Cuba! I was here once before with a lg group this time just my hubby and myself ,I thought I would get a return guest dinner or something special in room but unfortunately I didn’t.. no big deal that was the only disappointment I have and that I couldn’t stay longer!!

The hotel is beautiful, modern and very clean. The food was awesome with variety of choices for any meal. The beach was beautiful and could go for long walks if you wanted. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Reception, waiters, waitress,cooks, gardners. Even the lady that worked at the pharmacy at the hotel was very friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. Our maid went out of her way to get anything we needed. The only thing that could improve in our opinion is they need more lighting in  [... read more]the walkways around the place at night and also the sun wing rep was never at her table during her hours You had to track her down she was usually sitting talking to the staff somewhere or The other reps from the other travel airlines would call her to let her know someone was waiting. This happen twice to me sat waiting for 1/2hr still didn’t come back. Friends of mine went to the lobby she was sitting at the bar talking to the bartender. They went and told her someone was waiting for her at her table downstairs. Other than that I would definitely go back to this resort.

I have never been to a resort that the lobby is the happening place. The staff, the entertainment and the hotel guest made that all possible. The pool is great, but lacks lounge chairs and shade, needs more umbrellas for people as the Cuban sun is hot hot hot, and of course unless you are up at 4AM to get a lounger your out of luck cause they all get towels put on them, typical wherever you go though. We found the cookingstations to be long waits, so 6:30 on the dot is when we found the best time to go. Now to the best part, the beach and ocean. Loved loved loved the beach, the ocean is breathtaking and the different colours of blue were amazing. Only complaint here is that the bar at the beach closes at 3, why? Dont understand that one. The rooms, well my bed was the worst bed I have ever slept in. Both beds, as I that twin beds in my room were awful so therefore did not get great sleeps. Met alot of people who were repeat guests, one couple had been to this resort 30 times others 10, 15, 5, so many repeat guest, that says alot about the restort right there, and I can see why, the staff at this resort is like no other I have been to, they were happy to be there, they remember your name, the kisses of the cheeks was so nice to see and made me feel like it was a pleasure to bring me that drink, or a coffee or clean my room, you need to be commended for your excellant staff, from the grounds keepers right on up the line, cheers to you all, you made my trip amazing.

It's our second time in this resort and everything is great as usual! There's a few things you need to understand about Cuba, of course. The food is never on the top-notch international level, the service is slower than other international "five star" resorts. Just returned from a lovely, 6-day visit. There were certainly many less-than-ideal aspects of our stay; however, given that the price was so low, it was entirely as expected and we left very satisfied with our stay. PROS: - Incredible beach and great pool areas - We never had to get up early to claim a lounger - Really great nightly entertainment which was well set up in the lobby - Value-for-money was on point for the rooms and grounds: a bit shabby, but overall delightful in light of  [... read more]the cost - When our flight was delayed by a day because of the ice storm, the hotel/Sunwing did a great job of facilitating our extended stay. Sunwing also covered the cost which was much appreciated - Better food options at the buffets were the grill stations: omelettes, stir-fry, pasta, etc. A bit of a lineup/wait but well worth it. Also, the buffet's cheese and smoked salmon were great - Mediterranean a la carte was lovely - Cappuccinos in the lobby - Quick, easy airport pickup/drop off using the shuttle service through Sunwing CONS: (All of which were really no big deal because of the great price and realistic expectations for a non-luxury resort in Cuba) - There were a few issues with our room (ie leaking toilet) and they were a bit slow to be fixed - We heard a few folks complaining about inability to get beach towels. We collected our towels later in the day and never had any issue. - Much of the food was unappealing and there was a lot of repetition; however, it would have been foolish to expect otherwise. Ultimately, we always did find something to eat and were satisfied - International a la carte: the service as slow and everything we saw being served looked rather unpleasant. After 20 mins of waiting without even giving our order, we decided to jump ship and hit up the buffet instead - Service was hit-or-miss but entirely what we expected from a discount holiday. Some long waits, some unpleasant staff, many things overlooked, and you often have to fend for yourself. Please keep in mind that the staff work 6 days a week, their days start and end with long commutes, they are comparably poorly-remunerated, and they often work with limited resources. Value for money and context taken into consideration, we were still grateful and tipped always - It's not the hotel's fault, but prepare to breathe second-hand cigarette smoke pretty much constantly. It was most unpleasant - The public toilets almost never had toilet paper, so make sure you always bring your own If you are looking for a low-budget opportunity to hop on a plane to relax by a beach/pool and enjoy some fabulous weather, I can't recommend this place enough. If you're looking for a luxury experience, I would recommend that you opt to shell out the big bucks for a different venue to match your expectations. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Beautiful resort & amazing service!

The resort was beautiful - what's not to love with palm trees & sun!. The staff was courteous & friendly. Keep in mind, it is Cuba so there are shortages of toilet paper in some of the washrooms & the food needs some additional flavouring. Even though I did enjoy my stay at Memories Flamenco, if I were to return to Cayo Coco, I would refer another resort that my husband & I stayed at previously. With that being said, if there was an incredible last minute deal to get away, I would not be opp [... read more]osed to returning to Memories Flamenco.

Hotel Mojito: A-MAZZZ-ING RESORT

My daughter and I took our first ever out of country trip together and wow, what a great decision it was to choose Iberostar Mojito. From the minute you arrive you are treated like a star. They were hit hard by the devastating Hurricane Irma, but have came back so strong in such a short period of time. The STAFF couldn't have been any nicer, the FOOD was delicious every night with a great selection constantly rotated in the buffet, and the snack bar pizza, fries, and grilled cheese is to die [... read more] for. Their cheese is amazing! The ROOM was very large and accomodating. My daughters favorite part was the nightly shows. These talented, wonderful performers could be on any stage and I would pay money to see them. Their costumes were gorgeous, the different shows every night were captivating, the MC and the DJ kept everyone laughing and happy. The pools are beautiful, Dana at the hair salon even cut my hair! The gardeners are working so so hard to get the grounds immaculate again, and I have no doubt that their love for this resort will make this happen. The BEACH AND THE OCEAN, it's beyond beautiful and is hard to put into words. Sitting at the beach bar eating lunch is something everyone should experience in their lifetime. My daughter had to see the doctor one day and the on-site service was fantastic. I honestly do not know how anyone can say that they have had a bad experience here. We met people that have been there 15-20 times. We will definitely be back!
