Barcelo Maya Colonial: Fabulous food!

The room was great, the beaches beautiful and the grounds well maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed the excellent selection of restaurants and were pleased with them all. Our only disappointment was the ocean availability; there was really only one small area to swim and although the beach was long, for the most part, we couldn't enter the water because of rocks. However, the pools were numerous and great fun. I did enjoy the water aerobics as well.

Occidental Caribe: horribly frustrating

lost our reservation checking in. Initially said they could not check us in. After a half hour call (60$) home to Canada looking to forward email from Westjet. We were check in to 1 room for 5 people until our other 2 rooms were ready. We arrived around 2 but were not in until about 8. When i asked the next day after westjet rep spoke with staff what the problem was the rep said the staff member must have been new and didnt know they dont use hotel vouchers. the next few days were good but our k [... read more]eys stopped workig twice. After that we wre careful not to put them near cell phones or cameras but on our last full day it happened 3 times back and forth to the lobby. Finally i said i was sick of walking back and forth and waited in the hall near my room for over 3 hours for a supervisor to come fix it. I should have been on the beach not in a hallway! The hotel was ok. The food was good.The beach was amazing but the staff never smiled and were not friendly. I was one of a few people who tipped so I cant say that was the reason for the unfriendly customer service.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Beautiful resort and beautiful people

The resort is massive with a lot of stuff for the whole family. Front desk staff could have been a little more accommodating,b ready for a long check in process. The rooms are beautiful and well kept.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: GOOD RESORT

The hotel is well run, but the maintenance needs urgent work. There were frequent electricity interruptions, result in the breakdown of the air conditioning units. My first two nights were horrible as there was no a/c, but they eventually fixed it, by the time I was leaving.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Barcelo Barcelo Beach

Stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach the Middle two weeks of April 2014. The resort itself is fairly nice however the food at the Buffet was not that great. Everything seemed as if it was warmed up and dried out. By the second week we could hardly wait to get home to good food Now the restaurants at night where you could make reservations were actually pretty good We loved the Mexican Restaurant the best. All but one of the restaurants you book are at the Palace so you will have to take the train  [... read more]or walk. The one restaurant at the Beach side you make reservations for will cost you $ to eat there. The resort was clean and well maintained. Not much for shows in the evening or any kind of entertainment Bar service around the pool not so great and no service on the Beach Don't get sucked into the $3000 coupon book that is advertised for you when you book as most of it is not usable or you have to pay a lot before the credit is applied. Over all the weather was great. The beach is nice not to much trouble getting chairs. I do not plan to return to this resort any time soon

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: Love love love Los Cabos

The Barcelo was an amazing resort. The grounds were beautifully manicured. Food was good. Breakfast and lunch buffets were my families favourite. Huge shout out to Hosey (one of the doors men at the resort). Wonderful personality. My kids adored him:) Rooms were ok.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: great family resort

Love this place. Superb place for families with young children. Been there twice will probably return again soon. Splash pad and amazing pools is what keeps us coming back. Food is above average. Beach really nice too. No walking everything close.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Not what we expected

Food was decent, people were nice, but the resort was pretty run down and they allow locals to fill the vacant rooms on the weekends. The pool was filthy and we found ourselves very annoyed by the locals on the beach and outside the compound. All the Dominicans expect money from you regardless of the service being provided. I would not return to this resort.

Occidental Caribe: We were very happy with the resort

we arrived very late due to delays when we got there everyone was tired we were travelling with two small children we were to have 2 rooms side by side they gave us rooms one on one end of the hotel and one on the other but the next mourning everything was straightened out and the trip was perfect the kids got lots to eat they loved the beach and pools our 5 years granddaughter even went snorkelling on one of day trip she had a great time she tells everyone we loved our stay good food beautiful  [... read more]beach nice people.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Very nice resort

Overall the facility was well kept. The rooms need some work but they are spacious. The beach had numerous lounge chairs and the pool was clean. The food was very good at the restaurants as well as the buffet. The staff was friendly.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: AN ""OK"" HOTEL FOR WAHT YOU PAY

THE HOTEL IS ALRIGHT. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THEIR BUFFET AREA...NOT THE SEATING AREA, BUT THE AREA WHERE THE BUFFET FOOD IS EXPOSED...IT IS WAY TOO SMALL. PEOPLE ARE BUMPING INTO EACH OTHER. REASON WHY WE DID NOT GO BACK.ALSO,I ASKED FOR PRESTIGE CLASS AND GOT NO BENEFIT FROM IT. I WENT BECAUSE THE PRICE WAS GOOD..ONLY BECAUSE OF THE PRICE. IF PRICE WERE HIGHER I WOULD GO ELSEWHERE. SO IF PRICE IS KEPT LOW, I WOULD CONTINUE TO GO.

My stay was perfect. The staff memebers are curtius and friendly. The beach is clean and beautiful. The pools are amazing. The food was fantastic. I recommend all the restaurants. Enjoyed every minute of my stay.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Amazing.

Very nice huge resort with beautiful long beach with palm trees, so you don’t need to fight for spots with a bit of the shade. Hotel is very well mainted. Plenty of spaces to stroll among beautiful Mayan sculptures. Food, staff, night entertiment-excellent. The best splash pad for kids we have seen so far. Good snorkelling spot at the right side of the beach. Cenotes to see, are right across the hotel. We highly recommend this resort.

Barcelo Solymar: Great Family Trip

My husband and the 2 kids had an amazing time at this resort. The grounds were spacious leaving enough room for the kids to run around. Variety of food for everyone and a beautiful beach. A great trip!

Barcelo Solymar: Excellent hotel

We were all so happy and satisfied that everyone wants to come back. The restaurant's menu has improved from our last visit two years ago, I noticed more variety. The rooms have large TV screens on the wall, and everything was clean and neat. We had nothing to complain about. It was a truly enjoyable stay and we're definitely coming back!

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great holiday at the Barcelo!”

We spent 2 weeks at the Barceló and it was great! The food was very good - lots of different fruits even mangos (my favorite) and the service was excellent - couldn't ask for more - the waiters are very attentive and we enjoyed having a coffee pot left at our table at breakfast. Our room was clean and spacious with a king-size bed which is what we asked for. The a la carte restaurants were very good, especially the Brazilian and the Japanese. The staff at the reservations were not very efficient - answered a ringing telephone every few minutes while the line grew and grew. (whose phoning anyway? - can't reserve a-la carte restaurant by phone) We've been at the Playa Dorada beach before and we love it. Very good snorkeling off the beach and the beach is very long for walking. The time-share venders are not so annoying in front of this hotel - unlike the Blue Bay on the right and the Grand Paradise on the left - they are most annoying there. The entertainment at night was good - we like to dance so there was a band that played early until 9pm ever night - we would have preferred them to play until 10pm and skip the games at 9pm - very boring unless you're part of them and very few people are - I always wonder how many people like those games - the place sure empties when they start. But all in all this was a great vacation and we will definitely return to the Barceló! Stayed March 2014, travelled as a couple

Barcelo Solymar: close to everything in Varadero

nice having two resorts in one, more choices in activities and food. Beach is fantastic and staff are amazing with big smiles to welcome you and inform you. Just a ten minute walk and your in Varadero, very convenient.

Occidental Caribe: Good value for money!

The food and service staff were awesome. The hotel was in pretty good repair. The tour provider site promised some 'extras' with the Prestige booking that we didn't get (robe and slippers in room) but overall it was very very good.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great Vacation Spot!

Very clean facility. Staff was friendly and helpful. Plenty of seating at pool area and lots of fun activities. Plenty of variety at restaurant buffets. Beach was well groomed. Be sure to book water activities early.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing vacation

We were there in march for a week and it was an absolute amazing trip. The resort was great. The grounds were extremely clean, the staff was friendly, there were always chairs by the pool, the food was great. I can't say anything bad about the resort at all.
