Unico 20 87 Hotel Riviera Maya: Great resort

The hotel is great. Food is also very good at all their restaurants. Service is amazing, they always find a solution to please your needs. The gym is one of the best that i have seen in any resort. The only negative I have is that the house Wine at all the restaurants have gone down in quality compare to 2 years ago when we were there at the same time.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Fabulous vacation place

Our stay was fantastic, great food, pool areas very clean, workers very friendly, there was a variety of mixed drinks available, evening show very enjoyable and lots to do for those who would be interested.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Very good holiday

Feb 7 - 11, 2020....Approx 90 minutes from the Cancun airport. Once we got through the madness that was the international arrivals (several plane loads arrived at the same time!), the rest went smoothly. Check in was quick and they were able to accomodate most of our room requests. Ended up close to the beach which was perfect. Room - huge junior suite, ours had 2 double beds, third floor. At first glance it is shiny and perfect. Looking closer, you could see that it needed a bit of tlc as [... read more] there was some staining on the couch and chair fabrics and the window sheers needed a good clean. However, very good amenities provided like coffee maker, mini fridge with beer and pop, large jug of drinking water, iron and board, makeup mirror, hair dryer, etc. Large bathroom with whirlpool tub and the toilet was private in a watercloset. Food - Buffets had lots of choices and pretty much everything we tried tasted great. The biggest issue was the buffet food temp was usually only barely lukewarm. A la Cartes... had Mexican, Thai and Japanese..... all were excellent food quality, at least to our taste. Also a beach buffet which we did not try except for the chicken wings which were really good. Pools - did not go in or sit around as we prefer the beach but they looked good. Beach - small with a lot of coral chunks so do bring water shoes and sandals for walking. We picked this hotel specifically for the snorkelling. Because of the rockiness and the reef areas this is known as an amazing off the beach snorkelling hotel.... unfortunately the weather did not cooperate as it was windy the whole time we were there and the visibility was very poor. Not the hotel's fault, just the luck of the draw and we lost! Fun stuff - lots of wildlife - Coatis, iguanas, geckos, different birds, etc in a jungle setting. Awesome to see! The lazy river is a great feature. The night time shows are the best we have experienced at any AI resort as far as professionalism in dance and singers. Even though I have never been a Michael Jackson fan, I basically ignored the MJ actor/dancer and loved the dancers. Also saw the Lion King and Broadway shows. Very well done. There is a small Cenote on the property with a small Spider Monkey population.... magical! Please Do Not Feed The Monkeys.... there are signs and too many people ignore them. These are wild animals and feeding them not only presents risk to the humans, it can also be very harmful to the animals as they lose their natural fear of humans and we can kill them with kindness by feeding them foods that can potentially harm them as not what they find in the wild..... this includes bananas believe it or not. Never had a problem getting sunbeds on the beach before 9am. Overall a good hotel but is a bit tired and could use some work. Huge property so be prepared to do a lot of walking - one day we did 18,000 steps! We would go back but would have to be a better sale than what we paid this time and hopefully next time the ocean will be calmer so we can snorkel! We rate it as a solid 4*

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Wonderful Experience

We found the staff, food, facilities and attention to detail were all top notch. Minor issues at check in were quickly resolved to our complete satisfaction. The quality of food in ala carte restaurants was exceptional and the best we have experienced in our many vacations over the years. We will definitely consider coming back.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort

We really enjoyed our stay, grounds were immaculate, food was good, wasn’t overly impressed with the service at buffet, but I survived. Loved all the restaurants! Amazing Brazilian bbq and Italian was incredible. I would definitely return, although we spent most of our time off the resort, while we were there we were pleased. Also, pool could have stayed open even an hour longer. 6 is a little early in my opinion. All in all, good time, good food lots of memories.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Excellent week

This is my second stay at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal, adult section. We were once again, very pleased with our stay. The hotel is a little over an hour from the airport, which might be an issue for some, but not for me. Check in was speedy. Our requests were all accommodated. We did have to change our room the second day due to our shower backing up, but staff did their best to assist. Rooms are spacious and very, very clean. The Alux, Dom Pablo, and the Arluquin A la Carte restaura [... read more]nts were excellent. We were a bit disappointed in the changes of the menu in the seafood restaurant (which was one of our favourites last year) and in the Italian restaurant (which was also a favourite last year). Staff everywhere were pleasant and helpful in every way.

Grand Sunset Princess: Nice

Front desk staff can’t get there things right. Arrived at 330Pm and didn’t get room till almost 730pm. They gave us a room that was already occupied by another couple and walked in on them so had to go back to get a unoccupied room and that took forever. Other than that the resort is nice and people are really friendly, food was good, drinks are plentiful and great rooms.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Unlike anything we expected

This resort was nothing like we expected. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable and if you needed anything all you had to do was ask. There were monkeys climbing around the trees, macaws in the lobby area and other wildlife to see. The pool was huge and the food was good with a big variety to choose from. The only thing we didn’t care for was the 2 hour sales pitch to join their Royal Club. The amenities they showed us for the Royal Club were more upscale and very nice but also wildly expens [... read more]ive. Nice for some but it was not for us. I think they need to figure out another way of introducing the Royal Club to their guests instead of taking time out of a guests day, almost felt a little tricked into it with a note on our door that says they want to give you a welcome gift. All in all a good vacation and would recommend to others.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Perfect for a chill family vacation!!

Love this hotel!! It's small enough that walking around with little ones is not an issue and big enough that there are tons of places to hang out, eat, enjoy the weather, do activities. We've gone to many resorts that are super loud around lunch time and you can't really rest, and Catalonia was super quiet 12-3 which was ideal for anyone wanting to rest, little ones taking a nap, or just being able to hear the sound of waves. Loved that they kept the activities to morning and later afternoon - [... read more] it was perfect!!! Also lots of nature so walking to the beach and lobby and back again was never a chore because of all the shade. Really clean, and has lots of cute Coatis and who doesn't love having cute animals around. We also loved that the hotel was very eco friendly. No plastic or too much paper around. And water was always fresh/refilled and we had more than enough!! Overall a great experience! We will be back!

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Can't wait to go back

A beautiful resort with so many options. The resort itself had a number of easy to get to pools allowing us to choose being with people or kids or having seclusion. The beach on the ocean is small but there are many sandy coves with beach chairs and hammock along the river and trails that meander through the property. Good food on our vacation is important and we were not disappointed - the Japanese and Cantina were our favourites. We liked the fact that we met guests and staff from Mexico a [... read more]nd from around the globe. The service was great across the board. Entertainment at the resort and parks was excellent. We especially enjoyed the evening show at Xcaret, the dinner show at the resort and the band Bullet Queen at the Cantina 3 nights during the week. Sound does easily carry from the hall into your room so get a room away from noisy areas such as bridges. Having access to the parks most of which are on the grounds with shuttles or boats running frequently included was amazing. You could go for a few hours and not worry about seeing and doing everything in one visit. We were able to create a perfect tailored mix of activity and relaxation. The fantastic shows, ziplining and variety of river and cave floats were our favourites. There was never long lines anywhere. We've been to a lot of resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean and it's rare when go twice because there are so many good options. This is a do again!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Beautiful resort!

We stayed at the Maya the 1st week of Feb 2020. It's a beautiful resort. We arrived around 10pm and restaurants were closed, but room service is available 24 hrs a day. The grounds are clean & well-maintained... very pretty. We were in bldg 63 which was perfect & central to pools, beach, restaurants. Our room was large with a king bed, sitting area & balcony facing the wave pool. Buffets were very good with plenty of options. We really enjoyed our vacation.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Resort Amazing!!! Fly with Air Transat or book through Trip Central probably not!!

Resort is amazing clean big and beautiful and great food. Recommended it totally. Flying with Air Transat or booking through trip central is very questionable. 9am depart from Toronto We were 1.5hr delay taking off when we arrived at the airport in Cancún or shuttle left with out us before we even got off the plane..oh wait we didn’t have a shuttle because who ever booked us,put us arriving in Cancún at 630pm which our arrival time was 115pm. After we approached the airport Air Transat rep i [... read more]n Cancún they told us the issue. They tried to get myself to pay $180us for a taxi to the resort. Told the hotel would refund us when we got there. Yah right!! After an hour of trying to figure something out and told the next shuttle would be 2hrs from then. We asked another shuttle from a different airline to give us a ride. Thankfully they did. Not a great start to our vacation! Once we arrived at the resort it was great. Till we talked to the trip rep at the resort which again said we weren’t on any paperwork to return. Uneasy feeling worrying is there going to a return shuttle! After checking twice and explaining our concerns they were able to set something up. Was a stress no one should have to worry about!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Fantastic Resort

The Resort was huge and a week is not enough to take it all in. Even though the one buffet restaurant was closed there was no lack of great food. The staff were amazing. The drinks were fantastic. The beach was great water fabulous. Shows were great. I would go back.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Wow!

Well first off let me say what wonderful staff! Every staff member we encountered was just so eager to help you. Just exceptional. The food, again was wonderful! I am a vegetarian and have a severe egg allergy. I was stuffed all week and was able to eat a variety off food. The only time I had to ask them to make something special was when we were to the Brazilian restaurant (because it’s meat) but that was only for a main course. However a short walk over to the next resort on the public beach and it’s beautiful!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Good Resort

The Barcelo Colonial was a decent hotel. The grounds were well kept and the beach was exceptional (probably the highlight of our trip). White sand and lots for the kids to see and do (including snorkeling and seeing turtles). The waves were a lot of fun for the kids to play in. The pools were huge and well kept and the kids really enjoyed the water park. I would rate the rooms as just OK. Breakfast having the most variety and best meal of the day. They do no offer anything but bottom shelf alcohol which they claim they are a 4/5* resort. Some of the waiters and/or bartenders were not as friendly as others (whereas some went above and beyond) and felt it was a hassle to serve you. Overall the kids had a great time, but probably would not go back to this resort again.

Grand Sunset Princess: Average resort that could have been incredible

This resort needs a little refreshing and minor touchups including paint and small repairs. It had a great layout with soooo many pools and swimup bars! The lush landscape with walkways surrounded by mature palm trees was beautiful. A little more garden work/clean up would make it absolutely incredible though. There were alot of dead palm branches hanging precariously overhead and many tree limbs and branches on walkways and all over the grounds every morning. We were fortunate enough to have a swim out room (with an awesome maid Ana Maria!) but because it was on the Grand Sunset side and in February, the water was quite cold because it didn't get much sun. This would be an asset in April though I imagine! Another unfortunate thing was that there weren't a lot of shade choices around any of the sunny parts of the pools. The shaded areas had gazebos but there were practically none in the sunny areas and no umbrellas anywhere. The beach was incredible really, lots of opportunity to walk in either direction and only a few timeshare guys. The gym was one of the best I've ever used, with lots of classes to choose from every day. The evenings were very disappointing for couples, no music anywhere, no one singing, no evening entertainment at all really. There were family shows each night that some people we met really enjoyed. Lastly, the food....who could ever complain? There were lots of choices at the buffetts at every meal and great service at each setting. We only did one a la carte and it wasn't good at all but we have always preferred the buffets anyway. Overall, this resort was good value for the money but was only average in terms of it's condition, cleanliness and below average for entertainment.

Kore Tulum Retreat Wellness Resort: Kore is Pure Zen

Fabulous resort nestled between the town of Tulum, the Mayan Ruins and the totally hip area of Boca Paila. Kore views of the Carribean Sea are 2nd to none. The rooms are large and luxurious. The menus are varied and the food is quite good and because Kore is a 90-room resort, there are never any line-ups for anything. The staff are excellent and respectful of your privacy while also being very attentive. Kore is a totally zen experience. We'll be back.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Excellent!

Fantastic resort with superb staff. Everything we experienced from the food to the pools was more than you could wish for! I would recommend this resort to any family looking for a five-star resort on the Riviera Maya.
