VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great relaxation vacation!!

The room was fair (beds were comfy, no coffeemaker (but large urns down by the pool), no mirror (except for the bathroom), chairs on balcony uncomfortable (plastic stacking chairs)), pool was laid out great (not heated), beach was very clean, food was very good. Everyone was very friendly, and excellent service. For the money, this resort was a great deal. Just expect that it is a reasonable trip and not a high end resort.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Fantastic Stay at Resort!

The Riu was very clean and well maintained. The staff made our stay so much more enjoyable. Whether you tip them or not, they are all doing their best to make you feel welcome. The resort connected to the beach boardwalk, and had many nice shops to stop at which was nice. Food was very decent and enjoyable for all inclusive. Would definitely book here again!

Paradise Playa Dorada: Very friendly staff,good food and entertainment.

Clean and well kept grounds.Dining was always good and hot food.Lots of drinks and friendly bartenders.Jose was a great help with our luggage.Near by shopping plaza and bars.Beach was clean .Pool was a little cool and swim up bar was not always open.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Don't Waste Your Money

Beach Resort by Farranda was absolutely terrible... The hotel itself was very dated, staff was rude, not helpful at all...You bring your own bags to your room regardless as to what room or block you are in. The food is awful.... If you can guess what is you will be fortunate if it doesn't grow legs and walk away... All the meat sat in blood.... Do yourself a favour... Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great place to relax

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Casa Marina Reef and Beach Resort. We liked that we had the best of both worlds literally at our doorstep. If you wanted to mingle with the local people all you had to do is walk out of the entrance to the resort and there was the exciting town of Sousoua. The beds were very comfortable which for us is very important. The grounds are constantly being swept, washed and cleaned and your room is also swept, washed and cleaned everyday. The food was very good as well and they had a special pig roast when we were there. This is the second time we have been to this resort and we actually found the food to be better than our first visit. We found no problems with the food at all, there was always something for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Casa Marina.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great place, on the quite side and isolated.

The resort is very isolated so if you're looking for adventure away from it, then you should probably look elsewhere. The nearest town is a $25 US cab ride (one way) and we were told that there really isn't much there anyway. The place is spotless, rooms are great and overall, an excellent place. Pretty much everything shuts down at 11pm with the exception of the small disco and casino which is a short walk from the main lobby. My only complaint would be the biting bugs. They are so small that y [... read more]ou can't even see them and in spite of the fact that they frequently spray the grounds, almost everyone was well nibbled on - and they itch. Stupid bugs.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

We stayed for a week in January 12-19, 2016. Premises are very well maintained. Clean and quiet room and delicious food at restaurants. Grilled salmon at a-la-carte restaurant is fantastic! Beach is nice, but be careful entering the water, as rocks are everywhere. Please have a pair of swimming shoes. Also you may wish to bring one US dollar bills for tips, as the smallest Dominican Peso banknote at Reception exchange is 100DOP, equals $2.1 US. Nice and friendly staff makes you feel great. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Just love this resort and the people

Just love this resort l have been to Puerto Plata 6 times last year stayed at the Barcelos everytime servfice and staff are amazing,every thing l ever dreamed of.Was very diappointed when l went in Jan l had tstay in another resort,will be staying there again for two weeks in May.

Good rooms - slightly outdated decor, but everything you need, good food - general buffet has lots of options + a la carte restaurants are amazing, great service - this is what sets the resort apart, ask and you shall receive!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Awesome time at this resort!

The resort was great. Food was really good and all walkways were scrubbed clean every morning. Staff were terrific and would do anything for us. The only bad thing were the sand fleas everywhere and our insect repellent did not repel them. Overall I would recommend this resort to anyone who wishes to go.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Just an amazing resort! Love every single moment !

Had a great time at Cofresi Palm Beach Resort! Great food, the rooms were very clean , lots of variety in entertainment and very friendly employees especially the entertainment people. They really can put up a nice party all the time! The only thing they need to improve its the snack bar at the beach which was very poor in food! The beach area was really well maintained but a little bit small. We went on a tour to Paradise Island and I recommend everyone to go but take the Vip tour. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Awesome resort

Grounds were immaculate, food choices at buffet exceeded expectation, room clean and updated, staff friendly and helpful. Beach.... very nice,3 pool to choose from, absolutely no complaints. I would highly recommend this resort.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: A very large resort

Much to be said about Bahia Principe, both good and bad. The resort is huge, with over 900 rooms in buildings with 8 rooms in each. It is no doubt a very good resort for families with kids and groups of friends, but definitely not ideal for a single person. The beaches are kept free of sea weeds by an army of cleaners and with scuba diving, kayak, small sailing crafts and paddle boards available at a price, there is something to do, aside from just laying around the beach, getting tanned, going [... read more] swimming in the ocean or anyone of three swimming pools. Several beach bars,- and yes, the drinks are free, since it is an all inclusive resort, and a couple of snack bars are present. The rooms are clean,and in the case of my room, very basic, but OK, all except for the mattress, which would make a slab of concrete jealous. Entertainment take place at the main pool, anything from Yoga, to dance lessons and in or out of the pool exercises, all carried out to the rhythm of incredible loud music, much to the annoyance of many people, who would rather listen to it at a vastly reduced volume. There is bingo,mini-golf, massage therapy, basket ball court and several other things to do. Each night between 9:30 and 11:00, a show is put on at the theater by the main pool. Each night, a different show is put on, but again, much, much too loud. After 11:00 PM, the night club and Casino are open, just a short walk from the main lobby and dancing (disco type) is popular. The main pool bar and the lobby are popular hangout, with free WI FI in the lobby and drinks served at the bar or from the mobile bar are generous and free. There are three restaurants where dining is also free, although a reservation must be made in the main lobby. The food in these and in the main buffet style-help yourself restaurant is excellent, all depending on individual taste. The choices in the buffet style restaurant are so huge that there is something for every taste, an important aspect since visitors come from all over Europe, Canada and USA. The staff is extremely polite and very helpful, always smiling. A number of tours to see various attractions within a two hour drive from the resort are available. Many take advantage of these. All in all, I would not recommend staying more than a week at the resort, but one week can be a very good experience for families and groups of friends.

Good hotel looks like there working on it. The resort got the potential to be great just needs a little more work on the little things like the beach bar and some pool area no music no bar close too pool. But food is good and staff are great so all was good at the end.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Good resort

Resort is designed to house people and cram them in - there is no park or garden area to walk. Every morning there are people trying to sell you their version of time shares - they get you by asking you if you just arrived and offer to show you around the resort (but they take you to the "tower" where they give you the talk about buying into the Lifestyles community). - Food was good - on Sunday, they have a large outdoor buffet where they have a huge stage show to promote the Lifestyles communi [... read more]ty. - Staff are very accommodating and friendly. - If you don't go the VIP expense, you are very limited to the areas you are allowed in this huge complex. The resort is built on a hill and there are stairs everywhere to get to the main lobby and buffet. Golf carts are everywhere and you have to move aside lots to let them pass - carts create lots of air pollution as they are gas powered. We went the VIP route and had an excellent room close to the beach - room was excellent - very large with jetted tub and walk-in shower in bathroom. The only negative about the room are the thin walls - you can literally hear someone sneeze in the next room. - beach area is not private - locals are allowed - you need a bracelet to allow security to let you into the resorts.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Great 2nd time there

We stayed here two years ago and had a great time so we thought we would return again this year and it was just as great. We will have this place on our list for the future as well. The staff and cleanliness are what make this resort stand out.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Awful place

Old, tired building.says recently renovated- which only means they threw on some paint. No fridge in room, had to ask for towels after 5 days and they were very well worn & had holes in. No water pressure in shower or toilet. No hot water. The building sucks!! Beach was good. Food terrible. People were getting sick.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great Family Resort

Beautiful rooms, good food, nice grounds, great pools and ocean. Suites are great as family rooms with 2 bathrooms and lots of space. Recently renovated hotel. Family oriented but don't go if you are looking for a place to party all night long as bars close at 11pm.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great resort in town

The Casa Marina Reef and Beach Resort is a lovely resort, beautiful beach area, great dip pools, good food and perfect location. We loved the fact that you could walk out the front door of this resort and right into town for ice cream, etc. The only down side was a lack of beach chairs, one had to get up VERY early in morning in order to reserve chairs or else you would be out of luck. Hot water was hit and miss, but overall, loved this resort.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing Resort

Excellent food, clean water, good drinks, amazing staff. Most beautiful beaches and long shore line, almost 3 KM walks along the beaches. Great prompt fast room service. Excellent a la crate restaurants.
