Barcelo Bavaro Beach: I have been there 5 years in a ROW-fabulous

This place is fantastic they look after you, respond to your requests, its safe and beautiful - you will absolutely love it that's why me and my girlfriend have been 5 years in a row!!! Not much else to say just go you will have the time of your life.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS...PLEASE READ!!!!!

Please take the time to read this if you want to stay at an amazing resort! I'm long winded...but I'm passionate about good service, food, and value! My wife's co-worker and her husband stayed at Barcello Maya Colonial, and it was reccomended we stay there. Having never been to Mexico before...we took their word it would be safe, fun, and affordable. They raved about this place. I cannot say enough good things about Barcello Maya!!!!! The staff were amazing...always attentive...and always welcoming...right down to the moment we left...they did not stop being friendly!!!! I had read some reviews about bartenders not paying attention to you...but we found that only once...and that was just my wife and I being, "typical tourists"...so I get that. Once we started to feel the flow of the people...this never happened again. Rookie mistake on our part. The beach was out of a movie...white sand...no sandels needed...soft on your feet...even in the ocean! Fish swimming around you. There are a lot of free things to keep you and the kids busy...we have a 13 year old boy...and he was never bored once! I reccomend the full day execration to Tulum...where you do have a day at Tulum...and the other half snorkling over the second largest reef in the world with Sea turtles so close you could touch them (but don't)...and you swim right over the reef...AMAZING!!! Be prepared to swim at Tulum ruins....you only get 30 min free time after the tour in tulum...but worth it! Wear shoes to the Tulum tour...but bring sandals for the snorkelling. I liked this excertion because it was fast moving...never bored...you leave by 8...home by 4...lots to see...they feed you at an amazing restaurant...a lot of value...and youre out in the sun all day which is nice....but by water so you can get wet! We were told it was safe to take a Celetivo 'City bus" into Playa del Carmen. Being from Canada...and hearing the news...I was nervous about my familes safety. In the end...we had a great time...always felt safe...and will be making another trip via the bus this year when we return this Oct for our second trip back to Barcello!!!! The food was out of this world...lots of choices...a la carte's were high end...bring some nice clothes...no shorts allowed there. I wore jeans...some people chose to dress sharper...just no shorts.

Barcelo Solymar: Trip of a lifetime

The pool setting was beautiful, having the beach at our door step was perfect. The food was very tasty, The people that work in the resort were wonderful and just so friendly! Trip central was perfect!

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Barcelo hotel

Clean resort. Restaurants was just average, buffet was much better. Bar not as friendly as expected . Bar not all drink were included. Rooms were clean and good size. Pools were clean and always some places available. Beach was big and great.

Occidental Tucancun: friendly resort

Hotel was clean. Staff were friendly and the service was quick. Drinks were excellent! Food was good and the restaurants were never overly busy. really close to a shopping center. What else can you ask for?

Barcelo Solymar: Great Resort with 2 in 1 Experience

We booked our 5 day stay at the Barcelo Solymar Arenas Blancas and were really pleaesd with the entire experience. There are 2 sides to the resort therefore you can use all amenities in both including the pools, gym, and restaurants. the food selection was great with several restaurant choices and the staff was also great. We booked an excursion through the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The beach access was also amazing. There are plenty of lounge chairs and activities going on. Sunscape Puerto Plata: great value convienient location

beach is great rooms were good value we stayed in building 12 close to the beach and pool ,alacartes were good if not the buffet always had something good on the menue all the staff were allways there to help out and very freindly would definetly return to this property.

Occidental Caribe: Amazing Resort

Everything was great. Check-in was amazing. I've been to a lot of resort and normally you are in line for quite a while to get your room key. This resort, we had our keys and room within minutes. Room was great, food was amazing, service (waiters, bartenders, maids) all very polite and friendly. No complaints at all. As a matter of fact we are talking about going back in two years with the whole family. Grounds were nice, clean. The only complaint - they didn't replenish the fridge everyday with [... read more] beer. My husband liked to have a beer in the room while we were getting ready for supper.

Barcelo Solymar: amazing hotel

The hotel is very clean and neat. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Its close to downtown and beach. They have activities for kids and adult every day. I pretty much enjoy my vacation in this hotel.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful Resort......but staff were unfriendly

We stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort in March. Beautiful resort with amazing beach, resort was very clean and food was ok. Unfortunately the staff were extremely unfriendly and not welcoming at all. This was our first time going to the Dominican and will not be returing as we herad many comments of the staff being rude and unhelpful. Having been to Mexico, St.Lucia and Jamacia, and not having any problems with staff - all were very out going and wanted to make our stay wonderful. We had  [... read more]to wait for 10-15 mins to get drinks unless you flashed cash then the staff would come right away and serve you. We paid for an all inclusive trip, if the staff goes above and beyond then by all means they will get tipped but walking up to the bar and ordering a beer does not mean that they deserve a tip. Tips are based on service and the service at this resort was very disappointing. We will not be going back to this resort nor would i recommend it to anyone.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Awesome

The resort and facilities were awesome. The fact that you can utilize the neighboring facilities is a great benefit. The dining options were exceptional. The beach was a little rocky. As I was in a group of smokers the cigar bar was great - as a non smoker the air exchange was incredible, no smoke at all and the maritini's were awesome!! I would highly recommend this resort.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Feb 2014 trip to Barcelo Beach Premium

Overall vacation/resort was very good, this was our 4th trip to Barceló in the Mayan Riviera. Premium club was very impressive and worth the extra $$$. Check-in was a breeze. Staff were always courteous and helpful. Upgrades to the Resort were very nice and classic Mexican. I would travel here again. I would like to see an improvement in the selection and variety in food.

Occidental Caribe: March Getaway

The grounds are immacultely kept and very clean. Food was average however most of the a la carte retaurants were very good. Room was spacious with all the necessities but requires mainenance as well as cleaning was usully late in day and not enough towels provided.

Barcelo Solymar: Clean and friendly

Convenient in many ways: 5 minutes walk from all of the boutiques and restaurants. Last on, first off the bus when going on trips (activities/tours) and only 15-20 minutes from the airport. 2 hotels in one therefore, two buffets to choose from ( although many have complained, I have no complaint on the food. What does people expect for a all-inclusive for the price?) Great beach, clean and friendly staff. The equivalence of a travel lodge to our standard; no luxury, no swim bar, older resort, st [... read more]ill would go back just for its proximity to the shops.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Good spot for a vacation

We were very happy with the cleanliness of the rooms. The hotel had a variety of entertainment for all age groups. There was a dolphinarium, a shopping mall, and plenty of restaurants and bars. There was also a large selection of excursions. The hotel food was always fresh and delicious. The staff were all very friendly. Definitely would vacation here again.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Except no wi-fi resort was okay.

If your on a budget this resort was okay. The rooms are clean food good. Went on a mother daughter vacation and needed to stick within a budget. The staff were friendly and helpful. Hard to get towels for the beach. And had to go to edge of resort to get free wi-fi from other resorts.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Best Adult Spot in Punta Cana

Barcelo Bavaro Beach is a small resort on a world-class beach. It has wonderful facilites....pool, bars, amazing buffet and two specialty restaurants, theater, games area, shop.....but is quiet and relaxing. As a guest at Barcelo Bavaro Beach you can swim in the ocean, dine at a romantic private cabana on the beach, have any beverage you imagine crafted by friendly bartenders or relax on the balcony or patio of your spacious well-appointed room. It's the perfect romantic or lazy day getaway with plenty of privacy, but right next door you can gamble all night or dance til dawn. You have a choice of either of the two theaters for nighttime shows and more food choices than you can possibly cram into a one week stay. The food is varied and tasty and the service is good. Our room was well cared for, our mini bar always stocked and lots of towels provided. Can't decide whether to kick back and relax or go for the gusto in Punta Cana? For the adult traveler Barcelo Bavaro Beach offers the very best of both vacation worlds.

Barcelo Solymar: Splendid staff and wonderful accommodations

This was my first Barcelo experience and I was pleased with my vacation. Front desk man Oscar is the man who gets things done professionally and quickly. Animation team is fun and friendly. Accomodation was acceptable.

Barcelo Solymar: A good resort

Good resort for young people with a good location, close to downtown Varadero. Rooms and facilities were clean and the beach was amazing. This is my 3rd time at Solymar and I must say the only complaint is the food, which was far better when I first visited the resort years ago.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great value for money!

Overall, the resort was great! My only complaint would be the way the bathroom in the room is setup...no privacy afforded when travelling with friends. Our shower leaked and there was water everywhere when we showered.
