Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great resort

Every resort has good and bad but this resort is mostly good. Beach is awesome, food is great, service is good. The resort does show its age in places but we watched workers painting and repairing. Our room was right beside where the maids store their things so was loud with them working and chatting early in the morning. We arrived late in the evening and didn’t really get the same welcome and info as those arriving in the day.The diamond club lounge needs to be bigger. Overall great. Melia Marina Varadero: Satisfactory resort, but needs improvement...

Grounds and public areas were lovely! Rooms were ok, however housekeeping needs to get their act together...some towels were delivered dirty, pillows were extremely thin and flat, so we ordered more ( one pillow delivered wasn’t even an actual pillow...it resembled wool folded and stuffed in pillow-case!), and there was no toilet-paper replacement one day (thankfully we had brought a few of our own rolls, as it took and hour and a half for housekeeping to supply!!!). Check-in was supposed to  [... read more]be at 4pm, however our room wasn’t ready until 4:45pm. Re dining feature...our package included 3 a-la carte, but only 2 different restaurants were available. Buffet was satisfactory considering lack of food supplies in Cuba.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Worst Vacation

The structure of the hotel is nice but overall it was all outdated, air conditioner not working properly and rooms were all old and out dated. The food was bad, I'm NOT a picky person but I cannot tolerate the food, no variety of selection and it is all limited (ice cream, mango fruits and desserts). Snacks are all hot dogs, fries and pizza (worst pizza). The reception people are not friendly, rushed to talk to you and hard to understand because they rushing to explains things. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Our Second Home

Hola - A perfect vacay at the Sanctuary! The best part of our vacay was enjoying our friendships with Hanoy, Jesús, Yurilays, Yeny, Yessy, Natali, Alex, Jose-Mario, Leo & Liusmila. Highlights was the Hobie Cat rides with Esteban touring the coastline and dinners by Yurilays and Chef Yasel at the Italian & Gourmet restaurants. My husband always enjoys discussing baseball with his buddies Hanoy & Alex and cigars with Jesús. We appreciate their friendship and the services they provide making this our second home. The Rock Band 5th Avenue is by far the best of the Sanctuary entertainment. They definitely rock and are extremely popular. In addition, the band who play at Retro night will have you singing and the Duo Group who play keyboard and sax are a crowd favourite. These 3 bands are not to be missed. They are definitely one of the reasons we always want to come back. Hotel Tuxpan: Amazing service!!!

I couldn’t comeback happier from this hotel, everyone was really friendly and willing to help you out in anyway possible. The food was fantastic, the hotel was very clean and the service was top notch. Highly recommend!

Palma Real: The surprise of june 20 th week

my first room was on the fifth floor and we had to take the eleavator up but it just went to the fourth floor had to carry me lugage up to the fifth floor we get their and there is no key to the safe and no remote for the tv so we asked for another room so they told me to check the seconded floor room but it had two single beds and I asked for a king bed and I would have to walk up the stairs still then they gave me a room on the first floor the room was good everything worked but we had alot of [... read more] mosqiotos all week and the food was not good at all and the workers said it was because their was alot of cubans their that week but the staff was trying their best

Grand Memories Varadero: Cuba = Beach

Our family went with low expectations so we are not so disappointed. Palma Real: it's ok not great

was there in April 2019.was better then .I went June 2019 , many mosquitos in the room and so many in the lobby bitten hundreds of times it was unreal .was wasn't very good this week only good on two days , room was cleaned every day and front lobby bar was good as last time .I've been to Cuba 60 plus times , just so you know I'm not that picky if the resort is around 550 to 600 I think it would be ok . bring lots of bug spray , the rooms are old and pool bar one needs some fixing up cuba star [... read more] rating would be 2 to 2.5 at max .

Starfish Jibacoa: Amazing resort....#1.

...been going for years. ....great staff, great service, great friends, great times.....always. This resort is a hidden gem....perfect...peaceful, relaxing.....is perfect. I enjoy playing music there as well. We have so many great people there. Cheers

Hotel Villa Cuba: Cozy and exceeded my expectations!

My whole experience was quite enjoyable. I did not go in with over the top expectations because I had read all the reviews but my room turned out to be exactly what I expected and the food was not bad at all! I got to even try out the restaurant across the street which I highly recommend! The staff were friendly and helpful and the beach was BEAUTIFUL. I highly recommend this resort for a cozy and comfortable vacation

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: What happened??

We previously stayed at this resort in February 2013. Our stay was great and we gave it a five star rating. Based on our previous experience, we returned and extended the invitation to family. There were a total of nine of us occupying four rooms in blocks 21 and 31. We stayed from June 15 to June 22. Our stay this time was extremely disappointing. We had numerous issues with all of the rooms. The facility was neglected and in need of serious serious repair. During our previous stay the food  [... read more]was quite good for Cuban standards. This time, for the first few days the food was sparse and unappealing. They were constantly running out of main staple items. By mid week the food selection and availability improved as the hotel occupancy increased as well as the presence of the manager due to an inspection. The pool was dirty. The beach chairs were old, dirty, torn and in some instances had evidence of mold. The lobby and all restaurants had the roof leaking during rain storms. The auditorium chairs were broken and ripped. Service was mediocre at best. The maid service was terrible with arguments over towels and letting us into rooms when our keys didn’t work On a daily basis at least one or more of the rooms had issues with keys deactivating requiring several visits to the lobby to obtain new keys. Overall, our experience this time was disappointing and we will not be returning to this hotel or the Varadero area.

Sol Palmeras: Great resort overall

We didn't go to many resorts in Cuba but this one was the best. The beach and water are impeccable. The layout is very convenient - everything is in the arm's reach. The resort is clean and staff is friendly, rooms are comfortable enough. Palma Real: Not good

June is a very busy time for the cuban people to vacation. Big lines for food and drinks. Had to eat out every day.the staff are friendly though. I did lose a towel issued by the hotel and even though it was my fourth time at the resort they still changed me 20 pesos when checking out

Melia Marina Varadero: Great hotel!!

Very impressed with hotel room. Lots of space, all the amenities, great bathroom with separate shower and bath. Most helpful for a June visit is that it was always at the right temperature with individually controlled central air conditioning plus ceiling fans. Also a balcony with two chairs. The 'made while you wait' breakfast omelettes, mangos (when ripe) and coconut ice cream were my favourites. A fair bit of variety; some food overcooked. One note is that hotel advertises multiple a la carte restaurants but only one was open a day (perhaps due to low season). Overall I found the staff exceptionally courteous and helpful. The only exception is that the day we arrived, the front desk staff repeatedly told us our rooms would be ready in 10-15 mins. We arrived at 3:30pm, check-in time was 4pm, and 2 out of 3 rooms for my party weren't ready until 6pm. There was no-one else visibly waiting for a room, so not sure if they were short staffed or cleaning rooms for new arrivals wasn't prioritized. A suggestion for future is that if it's known rooms won't be ready for an hour or two, to let visitors know this, provide somewhere for them to change, and advise them they can wait by the pool or on the beach. Overall it was my first time in Cuba and I will definitely be coming back! I will definitely consider returning to this hotel.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing Resort

The grounds, public area were all very well kept. The food was good. Lots of sea food which was my favourite. Special barbeque day on one of the days we were there. Went to celebrate my birthday and there was a champagne bottle with cake waiting for me. The downside was the fact that there was a lot of stagnant water around the resort which created a lot of mosquitos. I have a lot of mosquito bites.

Blau Varadero: Lovely resort. A bit out-dated but staff are FABULOUS.

All areas well kept. Entertainment shows not in line with other resorts; very small stage and area, disorganized and not on time. Food could use a bit more variety but pretty typical of Cuba. Air conditioning in rooms could be better. Cappucinos and afternoon snacks great.

Palma Real: Stay away from this resort !!! Disgusting! Disgusting!

I have stayed at this resort on several occasions throughout the years. This was the final stay for me. Food is horrible! Beds are old and springs jabbing you in the back! Rooms have bedbugs, and the worst part is it’s steadily going downhill. Nothing gets fixed. It only gets macgivered! Put a bandaid mentality. They recently opened it to the local Cubans and it’s not a resort you want to be at while they are there. They drank all the alcohol at the swim up bar daily and you never see them l [... read more]eave to go for a piss to the washroom. You best your ass they pissed in the swimming pools! It did not matter if it was breakfast, lunch and dinner, the plates where always greasy! Disgusting!!! Disgusting!!!! Disgusting!!! Do yourself a favour and spend a couple bucks more! Stay away from anything owned by barchelo!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very relaxing vacation

We got in very late (4 am) so there were not many staff on. We got checked in and taken to our room fairly quickly considering. Our first room was not acceptable so we asked for a change when we got up the next day. Change was easy and the new room was significantly better than the first. If we had stayed in the first room, it would have been a crappy stay. New room was good, clean and quiet. This is not Canadian standards for a 5 star but we were not in Canada. Don't expect every amenity that you would get in a country that does not have a trade embargo and be grateful that we have what we have cause they don't. The people are so terrific, we had a great time. A good combination of sights, beach and food. Yes, the food isn't fantastic but it is not bad either. We always found something to eat.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Love the Sanctuary

It was awesome to have our butler girl book our restaurant reservations within an hour of check in and deliver the tickets to our room. The internet worked fast in the lounge and around the pool area. Our room faced the pool so we could use it in our room and balcony too. $1cuc/hr. Cuban food is back to the basics of wholesome fresh fruits, veggies, seafood and breads mostly and it's good! We received wonderful hospitality from all staff.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great vacation!

Two of my friends and I stayed here for one week and absolutely loved it! It was a relaxing resort with a beautiful beach and lots to do. We are in our mid twenties and were looking to relax but have fun so we spent our days lounging at the beach and nights watching the good entertainment shows, dancing at the disco, having a few drinks by the lobby bar, and exploring some of the nightlife around Varadero. We were comfortable at this resort and thought the service was good (sometimes a little sl [... read more]ow). The food at the buffet was acceptable and there was good variety. Also, the beach chairs were highly uncomfortable and the rooms looked a little run down but this wasn’t a problem in the grand scheme of things. We would recommend this resort to anyone...there was a lot to do for people of all ages and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
