Roc Lagunas del Mar: Very nice resort

Hotel is nice, people are friendly but they do not speak English they say yes, yes, but you realize they did not understand what you are asking for. I am talking about personnel serving at the table. Reception area is very nice with friendly people. Rooms are nice and clean, same are all the public areas, a la cart restaurants are good and the best is Fusion with gourmet meals, we had never had such a tasty meal in Cuba till now as at Fusion restaurant. The beach is rocky but still manage to find a place with nice sand, bar on the beach very good with very nice personnel and efficient, Michel and Addiel have done a great job on the beach to get satisfied clients.

Melia Las Dunas: Lovely visit

Melia las Dunas was a typical Cuban resort. The food was not fancy but it was good. The room was clean, the staff were friendly, there were plenty of drinks and options for dinners. The à la carte restaurants were a great treat- lovely atmosphere and food. The beach was fantastic, the pools were clean and we enjoyed the activities. It was a great place to take a family vacation.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Our 3rd time to this excellent beach hotel, but will go again before KFC shows up

As you can imagine, we saw familiar faces when we got there the third time, staff there recognized us, too. This is not a single case - as a mater of fact, many visitors we met in the hotel also went back many times. Why? Here are some reasons I can think of: extremely friendly staff willing and accomodating all the time, food is good with variety on daily basis (e.g. four dinners out of seven have lobsters), clean and well maintained environment everywhere, excellent garden design and layout [... read more]; best private beach, and the only hotel with over 4KM walking distance one way end to end, etc., etc.. This hotel is masive. You see, you can enjoy all the delicious food, wine, juice and desert without gaining much weight - if you keep walking. Oh yes, if you fly Sunwing and you are thinking of buying an excursion, buy it during the flight, so that you pay CND$ without tax, saving you 30% vs. buying in hotel where you pay CUC (=USD$) by the same number. A lot more to tell but this is all I can remember today.

Memories Paraiso: Amazing Resort and Courteous people

Overall the resort was good. Perfect for families. This resort is suitable for each age group. So many activities to do. Kids enjoy a lot. Good food. Good guest services especially thankful to Mr. Andy. Beach - Awesome, crystal clear water with white sand. Pool - wonderful - Clean. All bars are good especially Lobby bar and Pool bar. Overall - worth going.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Very nice small resort

Rooms could have been cleaner and light fixtures could have been brighter for reading at night. The pool and beach area were very nice. The buffet restaurant could have had more of a variety in food. The other restaurants were ok. The staff were courteous.

Pleased with room , variety of food , and choice of restaurants. Specially enjoyed cappuccino at your central bar. Internet connection is very bad , poor instruction to connect ( the written instruction that are in Internet room are hardly readable , staff not very helpful either ) Suggestion : the beach towel exchange ....not working ! Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Fairly nice resort

The rooms in the resort could have been a bit cleaner. The electrical fixtures attached to the bed were in bad shape and didn't work. The resort was small, 300 or so guests but it had nice meals, restaurants, etc and the staff were courteous. The pool area and beach was excellent.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful beach

Just back from Hotel Playa .Vacation was cut short with the snowstorm in Halifax ,so we missed one day completely.The resort is very nice,lots of flowers & greenery.Rooms are just basic,but clean & good service .We were in bldg 14 ,.We did not get any of our requests.We asked for bldg 15,2nd floor ,king bed & bathtub .Got twin beds,shower & 3rd floor.After finally arriving we were just happy to get to the beach. Some days the waves were a little high so they would caution you .One day was red flag so we couldn't go in .Went to the pool that day ,also lovely,but packed ! There is 2 quiet smaller pools & the main one where the action is . We only went to the market one morning .Took a taxi there & bus back.There is a small shop on the resort where you can buy souvenirs also. The buffet is huge ,but the line ups are too long .They have lots of choice if you want to stand in line for 1/2 hr .With that many rooms they need two buffets .Food was so,so same everywhere in Cuba .Went to 3 shows ,they were entertaining & fun .The lobby bar is packed in the evenings before dinner.Most evenings they had music also. Internet !! forget it .They sell you a card 1hr ,2 pecos,If you can get on you wait,wait,wait so after a couple of tries I gave up .I didn't go to the resort to sit in the lobby on face book . I enjoyed my stay because I went for the beach & was not disappointed.I would go back for the right deal,but would rather try somewhere else next time

Valentin Perla Blanca: Awesome Resort

Hotel was very beautiful. Very friendly people. Amazing excursions,very well planed.Beaches were very well maintained. Lots of entertainment,live shows every night. Beverages always being offered.Always saw workers working in the gardens to keep them beautiful.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Great Vacation!

Husband and I stayed at Hotel Cayo Santa Maria Feb 8 - 15 2017. The beach was fantastic, it was like icing sugar sand, the water so blue and clear. You do have to go out a distance to get into deep water so would be great for children. If you can take an air mattress or something to float on, we did not take one and none there to purchase. Buffet food was good, great variety, hot food I don't know why people complain. Entertainment was okay, magician show was quite entertaining. Entertainment  [... read more]was on same level as Mexico etc. Staff is awesome, no matter where you go. Staff is so helpful all the time. Tips are greatly appreciated but really what they need and can use: shampoo, cream rinse, mosquito spray, bar soap, tooth paste, tooth brushes, towels and gently used clothing (men, women and children clothes, any size!). This is our 4th time to Cuba so we packed 26 pounds of the above for them. Men's ball caps and t-shirts are very much appreciated by the garden staff, they are left out of the "tipping" part. If you go and have children and leave them with the staff at the "kids daycare" please, please give tips or treats of clothes etc to the staff. We found many couples left children there for hours and the staff only received "thanks", They do work so hard and do entertain the children so amazingly there. Please say hi to Hailey for me she is the best!! There is no snorkeling at this hotel, you would have to go on an excursion to snorkel. Excursions quite pricy, speed boat and snorkel 9 am - 1 pm Canadian $77.00, we weren't interested in speed boat so did not go. Talked to others that went to a different location for Cuba party/foam party on beach, which they advised not worth it. Small market 10 mins away from hotel, cab $5 peso one way bus $2 pesos each person one way. We took cab, not much at market but a few different restaurants, we did not try these. Italian Restaurant at hotel awesome! Cuba restaurant not good at all, did not try the International Restaurant. Ice cream hut great (so my husbands says) I don't like ice cream. MUST TAKE bug spray, no problem at beach or pool during day but watch out! at night the pesky bugs come out - not sure what they are. Not mosquitos but when they bite you don't feel it right away but next day people were covered in bites and itched like crazy. We stayed in Bungalow #14 on the 2nd floor, the best location!!. Awesome access to beach and pool, short distance to buffet, restaurants and hotel lobby bar. My 2nd choice would be bungalow #12. Bungalows 1 -7 distance away, as well as bungalows 15-18. Room was very large, beds hard but I like that, pillows suck! Shower hot, no issue with room Met a couple from Poland, really nice people but they left the morning after we arrived and did not get to exchange email addresses - perhaps we will meet again another day and another place. Overall great hotel, great beach and great staff. Would recommend this hotel. Only draw back travelling from Saskatchewan you must stop in Dominican Republic on flight there, off the plane about 2 hour wait and back on the plane. Home flight was direct. Lil

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: SUch a beautiful time!

resort was beautiful. beach was unreal. drinks were good. food was okay. rooms were clean but beds were hard. overall great time. customer service was great. the resort lobby was beautiful. the staff were friendly

Valentin Perla Blanca: Worth the trip

This hotel was well kept with very friendly and helpful staff. The beach was spectacular with the most amazing water colour and finest white sandy beach you will ever come across. The rooms are not bad. I did have a problem with not having hot water for showering but who needs it when is 30c outside. The food is lack lustre and tough to stomach after a few days. If your not a foodie and love fun in the sun then it's a great fit for you.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Hotel Cayo Santa Maria Cuba

Thought we would take an early trip this year and we went to The Hotel Cayo Santa Maria. Had great weather during our trip. We left Halifax on Jan 19th for one week. The resort was very nice and staff were exceptional. The resort was very clean. One recommendation, Do not take the bus to the shopping areas. We were on a double decker bus for over 2 hours. We must have passed our resort at least 3 times. Also, you may have looked at the videos showing the most exquisite pool. Its at least 3 tiers and is beautiful except it gives the impression that its only steps to the beach. We decided to walk threw a path and it took us to a very rocky beach area. We cut threw this area which takes us right to the beach which is absolutely beautiful. You can't go wrong with Cayo Santa Maria. Most of the resorts on the Island have spectacular beaches. I would go back to the Hotel Cayo. Very nice

Memories Paraiso: Memories Paraiso

I stayed in this hotel Feb.8 to the 15th, 2017, my second time there. Staff were great, except the front desk staff, we wanted a pool view and ended up with a jungle view even after two inquiries, so gave up... Foul smell of sewage in our room in the early evening after returning to room from pool, not very pleasant while sitting on balcony or walking past the building. I know camping is Ruffing it, but Seriously no one seemed to care, staff were even using the washrooms as well, you would think they would call someone to clean them up. The Lack of nightly entertainment other than the theatre shows, no disco or dancing available, no entertainment in the lobby Bar past 7;00pm, Two years ago we stayed at Azul it was better than Paraiso Memories. Food was good although it was often repeated. No lobster dinners to our surprise only if you paid for it, other years it was included. Our third time to Cuba probably our last. The Staff overall were very good, Staff on the Kayaks on the Beach were great, Bartenders and serving staff great, the ocean was fabulous as was the Beach. Except for the abundance of Sand Fleas or Sand ticks that are still pestering me back home.. probably a problem with the exchange of beach towels daily that wasn't available, I could not get a new towel for 4 days and then none were available at all the rest of the trip. Not enough golf carts driving around the grounds to shuttle people this time. Seems to have slipped down quite a bit from the last few years probably has something to do with the separation of Azul Grand Memories and just Paraiso Memories, but we go there for the Beach and Ocean right. We like to go Deep Sea Fishing but the price was a bit extreme this time round. Overall a good trip, weather was great, Diamond club should be better, no premium drinks after 7;00pm good stuff seemed to disappear. not worth the extra money. our third trip to Cuba, our 2nd at Memories needs some upgrading for us to go back. Knowing the conditions in Cuba we let a lot of stuff go, but this time many things were just too irritating, vacation is suppose to be just that!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Sanctuary

Staff were extremely helpful, friendly, fun and always available. Beautiful location, resort was well kept and clean. Amazing, never ending, well maintained beach. Food was good, although disappointed in the selection of fruit available, but only because I don’t like papaya and mango. The room was clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Lobby and pool washrooms were an issue only because several of the stalls were not working and those that were did not have working locks.  [... read more] Several days there were not enough of clean beach towels. Wish someone would have told me about the bugs and recommended wearing bug spray during the day as well as night. Disappointed the on-site banker did not have smaller Cuban pesos available to exchange money.

Memories Paraiso: Amazing honeymoon!!

The hotel was great, the staff were AMAZING, the food was as to be expected from Cuba (I thought it was fantastic, my husband thought it was okay). The beaches are the nicest we've ever seen. The room was clean, and made up promptly every single day. The fridge was always stocked. The only thing we had trouble getting was fresh pool towels (they ran out quickly each day).

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Excellence AND Value

The Grounds are nothing short of breathtaking , a tropical botanical garden meticulously maintained by extremely hard working gentlemen.The hummingbirds, pelicans and newts are a wonder to behold. It isn't a "New" resort but it absolutely has the spirit of one. The staff is incredibly attentive and the food is good. There is ALWAYS something to eat. We very much look forward to our next stay. We have visited newer and far more expensive resorts On " The Cayo " but not ONE made you feel more at h [... read more]ome than this one. Believe me when I say that Starfish has THE best beach. Walking the entire length of ALL the resorts is a testament to this. The Beach is Wide and the sand is fine and powdery, comparable to the former Eurostar Hotels beach. There are no cliffs to watch out for , no sandy hills to climb, no coral to navigate, On some of the beaches the sand is the consistency of brown sugar and difficult to walk on , the Royalton's beach was completely underwhelming , The Melia Las Dunas Beach was very narrow. Renovations are ongoing at Starfish but we certainly weren't there to judge a little plaster missing here and there and honestly, neither should you. If you want Sand , Sun , Drink , Relaxation and most of all Fun, then this is the place for you. Leave your first world problems at home and expect to be treated as you would treat others, if not better. In other words please give these hard working people the respect they deserve and you will get it back twofold.. Very few of us, North of Forty would work Eighteen hour days for a negligible wage. Your Gratuities are very much appreciated and make a heck of a difference in the lives of these wonderful dedicated individuals.

Melia Las Dunas: Good food, Good Resort!

The beach sand was clean and shallow clear water, mostly well cared for grounds (some areas under renos), friendly staff, great entertainment, the 2 hr bus ride is like a tour with info about Cuba. I had a Great time!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing Resort...Friendlly staff!!

This resort was clean, inviting and filled with fantastic friendly staff. Anything we asked for we were given. We would definitely recommend this resort and would visit again. The resort is new so it will take sometime for them to receive feedback and fix a few things here and there but overall we were more then pleased.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Bed Bugs

The grounds around the garden were lovely. The pool and beach are lovely. The Sanctuary where we stayed was not cleaned regularly other then the around the pool. It would be nice if the numerous showers around the pools worked but not one of them worked. Only one shower as you were exiting the beach worked to rinse off the sand. It would be nice if the showers worked around the pool, because many people would rinse off the sand in the pool. The 24 hour bar needed the floor cleaned daily  [... read more]but it was not. You had to be careful of broken glass. The washrooms were very unsanitary and in the memories and grand memories, some toilets had no seats and make sure you have kleenex because toilet paper was unavailable many times. Our room had two super single beds which we were not impressed when we paid for the Diamond package. One bed had bed bugs so the the first few days were horrible and then when we noticed stool from bed bugs all around the seem we informed the manager which he said they did not have any. So I slept in the other super single with my husband for a week until another manager Paula asked me if everything is good with our room. I told her the situation and she wanted me to show her and the head maid and maid how I know their are bed bugs. After that they gave me a new bed and finally we slept well with no bites. Sad to say we were not the only ones bitten by bed bugs. Some booked a flight early to go home due to the bites. We asked our maid to clean the tub and if at all possible she can wash the floor. Which she did after we expressed our concerns. The food was of low quality for a 4 star in Cuba. Although if you went to the Grand memories buffet where children were it was a lot better and more variety. Just make sure you get their early. The ala cart menu's did not serve what was on the menu and many times they did not have the meals available. But the weather, beach and pool were wonderful. They aim to please but the staff needs to quit arguing in front of people. I am sure once they get rid of bed bugs and spray the compound daily their vacationers will want to come back.
