Barcelo Bavaro Palace: nice resort

They are always cleaning sanitizing which is great to see. Upon arrival no one wearing Face Masks. ,on departure all Security at Airport were wearing Masks. A British Cruise Line was denied Port due to sickened people onboard. We have trouble with all food once we leave North America even having consumed Ducorol prior to travel. Stomach aches and pain from day 2 until our return home so we will have to see a Dr prior to leaving for any future Island. Had hoped for better food from a 5 Star maybe we are too fussy. The resort is amazing other than our food issues.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Decent Stay! Great party/entertainment resort

We've just returned from a one week stay at Chic Punta Cana. Given the mixed reviews we read, we had set our expectations accordingly to hope for the best but expect to be somewhat disappointed. I should note that during my stay I was asked a few times to complete a tripadvisor review by staff which makes me realize the importance of filtering reviews with less concentration and more suspicion on some of the "one-and-done" reviews especially with only one or two sentences. Our arrival and che [... read more]ck-in was quite smooth. Since we had a Presidental Suite with Diamond Club access we checked in at the Diamond Club centre. It took about 15 minutes until we received our key bracelets (which I thought was a really cool touch), were introduced to our butler, Miguel, then escorted to our room in Building 4, 1st floor. I had read that the rooms were pretty tired and, while I see why, I was initially pleasantly surprised with the room despite it needing a bit of an update. During our stay we didn't have any issues with air conditioning as it worked perfectly with separate units for the bedroom vs the living area. Unfortunately, the problems we did encounter really impacted our enjoyment and overall trip impression. I encountered a few large cockroaches in the room and, while the team took care of them quickly, it left me feeling a bit uneasy throughout my stay. The other issue would be that our toilet area often smelled like an outhouse due to sewage back-up issues. I understand that these things can happen but, having stayed in several "5 star, adults only" resorts in Punta Cana in the past it was the first time I had experienced these issues so it felt particularly unpleasant. We felt the food was decent at the resort but did not compare in quality to other similarly rated resorts we had stayed at in Punta Cana, particularly in the buffet which was average. Many people we talked to really enjoyed Hunter's Steak House. We had great meals at Tagine and Vespa (great pizza!). The buffet was typical but unremarkable compared to previous experiences at other Punta Cana resorts. The sushi restaurant was held in the same place as the diamond club breakfast. It was disappointing that the design of the sushi felt like a cafeteria rather than a cool sushi spot which we often see and the food at this restaurant did not impress us. The pool area was lively and enjoyable. The chair game is much worse than other resorts - if you do not get up very early there was limited availability so you wouldn't just risk location but instead may be lucky to get a chair/bed at all. I woke up early to run everyday so was able to observe this but we decided not to participate in the game and paid for a cabana for our entire stay. The cabana was a great touch and our butler, Jimmy, was amazing and we received the best service from him. We thought that the pool and beach were really great. The entertainment at this resort is really impressive if you are okay with noise, which we are. I would rate the entertainment team above average - this is where Chic excels. I enjoyed that they had fitness classes by the pool/beach area beyond your typical aquafit so you didn't have to miss out on precious outdoor time during the day by going to a gym. The beach was beautiful and clean. We went on long beach walks daily which we enjoyed. A special shout out to J Carlo and the entertainment team who were dedicated to ensuring everyone had fun. The evening entertainment was also great and much better than most other resorts we've been to. We enjoyed many of the shows but there is no dedicated theatre area for these shows and we noticed that people would be reserving seats (which were more limited than even the pool area) hours in advance with many left standing throughout the shows. As mentioned above, entertainment is where this resorts excels. They had some original shows like the Queen tribute, Madonna tribute, circus and a 'silent disco'. It was a fresh change from typical Michael Jackson shows. Since there are many fitness classes offered throughout the day, I was disappointed with the gym which was on the small side with limited weight machines and equipment but we were able to get creative and it was adequate. Service was hit and miss. Our butlers Miguel (room) and Jimmy (cabana)really went above and beyond. Carlo's (server) and Amouris (pizza maker) at Vespa were absolute delights. Other than those great experiences, we seemed to encounter a lot of average service and a lot of employees who seemed to be having bad days. If entertainment is the most important feature for a resort for you, I would recommend this resort to you. Without the upgraded suite, diamond club access and rented pool cabana, I would be cautious in recommending this resort at all as, even with these add-ons, I would rate Chic as a stretch 4. I would not consider this a luxury resort so would have to ensure I set expecations before recommending this resort to friends or family.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Inconsistent

Lovely grounds, ala cartes fabulous. Service lacking. Big difference between day and evening service. Daytime staff helpful and friendly. Evening staff dismissive and not helpful. Restaurant staff was always excellent. Buffet staff at Ambar sketchy. Wifi intermittent. Transportation between Ambar and rest of resort not available after 7pm. Told my nephew to walk and he was on crutches Room service should also include alcoholic drink service.

Riu Republica: Lost me as a client

The worst experience ever with the airline and with the resort. Sunwing and Riu chain have lost me as a client. Everything was horrible, starting from the flight, room, food, service, beach and the flight back. Will not ever go there again and will not ever recommend it to anyone.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

Clean resort, great food selection at buffet as well as all other restaurants. Rooms cleaned in a timely manner. Lots of shade at beach. Grounds are impeccable. Great service at various bars. Received a call twice during our stay to ensure everything was fine.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Great stay

This was a great hotel, the rooms were clean and modern. The beach is amazing and the pools were good. They do a lot to get people involved. The entertainment at night was great. Water park was good too. Food was good lots of variety.

Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Great Resort, Disappointing accommodations

The beach here is excellent: walk miles in both directions, clear water and waves that can be fun to swim in. The restaurants are excellent. Evening dining requires reservations. Breakfast and lunch are all buffet options - some adults only locations as the resort shares the property with Nickelodeon. Our disappointment was our room. We booked a Luxury Swim Up, but due to renovations there were no swim up rooms available. We sent an email and spoke with the Air Transat rep at the location  [... read more]and there was lots of ‘ask them/ contact so and so’ but nothing they could do....hopefully some form of refund will be forthcoming.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Resort is enjoyable

The overall experience was good. I travelled with my parents & my 4 y/o daughter. Hotel staff was quickly accommodating for any issues we had. The shallow pool area was great for kids & families. The kids park area was a bit far in my opinion, especially if it was a super hot day, and they also only serve beer 😏. We booked an excursion with a rep who worked for Nexus (cause our Air Canada rep was never to be found) & was told we were getting an upgrade on a dolphin exhibit- which interned [... read more] was not the case at all. We got middle of the barrel excursion for the same price. We were told we would swim with 2 dolphins, only had 1, & no foot push, instead was modified foot push with a boogie board. Ocean was beautiful & so was the beach - always very clean & tidy. Too bad when we were there it was often super windy & too cold to sit at the ocean. Rooms were nice and upgraded & comfy. Although there was a minor issue with our AC.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: A Perfect Place to stay in Punta Cana

Had a excellent stay at the Majestic Mirage . The food was awesome along with friendly service. Our butler AmAble was the best . He was there every day to look after anything we needed during our stay . The place was keep very clean and our maid service was excellent.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Absolutely lovely

Our room was gorgeous and the 24hr room service was amazing. Every single one of the staff seemed genuinely happy and eager to help with anything. Very clean and comfortable. We will absolutely return.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Beautiful Big Resort

While my boyfriend and I enjoyed the pools a lot and the beautifully manicured resort, we found that most of the front desk staff were quite unwilling to help us with any questions or issues we had and didnt necessarily look happy to be there. There were of course a few exceptions by a number of the waitstaff, however overall it wasn’t super welcoming. On the upside, the beach was beautiful clear water and nice sand. The food was great at all of the restaurants we visited exceeded my expectations. Every morning I had the luxury of getting a personalized omelette, which I loved. The maid service always left our room tidy and stocked with everything we needed and sometimes a cute towel swan. Overall the resort was gigantic the food was great and the country itself was beautiful, however the feeling of being unwelcome will stop me from coming back.

Secrets Cap Cana: Awesome resort

This resort is a beautiful place. The rooms are spacious and clean. The whole resort was always kept clean. The staff at this resort would always go above and beyond your requests. They are super friendly and always willing to help out at any time. This resort has an awesome staff that I have never seen at any other resort that I have been to. The food was pretty good at most of the restaurants. The Italian restaurant was the only restaurant that I would not recommend. Riu Palace Macao: Friendly staff

Food was good, lots of variety . The only restaurant not worth trying was the Japanese, from the food to the service the experience was horrible . Grounds were well kept , beach was beautiful and the entertainment staff were super nice and friendly . Overall it was a good experience .

Secrets Cap Cana: Amazing Resort!

If you’re looking for a wonderful relaxing vacation this is the resort for you! From the moment you arrive you are welcomed with open arms! My husband and I just returned from a 10 day vacation at this resort and all we can say is ‘ it’s amazing’! Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Resort was nice enough but staff was hit or miss!

My daughter(She is in her 20s) and I stayed at this resort for a wedding. The resort was nice enough but unfortunately our room ended up smelling like sewage. It wasn’t until the 3rd or 4th person I dealt with that something was done. Will at front desk was great but I can’t say the same about the rest of the front desk staff! Nite staff was poor especially when trying to get a shuttle to/from the Esmerelda to the Ambar it was ridiculous! Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Well worth every penny

We had a fantastic stay. We have been to a LOT of resorts and their staff is by far exceptional in both service and in attitude. The entire place is kept immaculate 24-7. We found the Italian restaurant to be our favorite. We would highly recommend this resort to friends and family. You will be well taken care of here...every last thing. Our safe would not open one evening and we had it taken care of in less than 10 minutes. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Simply Beautiful!!!!

This hotel is like a little city within itself, no need to venture away from this gem. Beautiful beaches, lush grounds, friendly courteous staff and the pools are so clean. Trolley cars are everywhere to drive you where you wish to go but if you choose to walk, the landscaping is peaceful and so green.

Riu Palace Punta Cana: Riu Palace Punta Cana.

Enjoyed everything. The resort is beautiful and well kept.The beach is great wilth lots of beautiful palm trees. Staff very polite and helpful. There were many good food choices and drinks. I was impressed by the continual care and maintenance of the beach washrooms.

Secrets Cap Cana: Amazing get away

We did a quick 3 night, 4 day stay here and it was unbelievable! Resort is only 20 minutes away from airport - so key for a quick get away. The service was great, food was amazing, room was perfect (junior garden view - which actually had an ocean view!) We were lucky with weather, as it was 28 degrees daily with a nice breeze by the ocean. It rained a few times but it only lasted 5 minutes and went right back to being blue skies and sunny. Quite a bit of seaweed along the shore that didn't look to be picked up/groomed daily (as seen at other resorts in the Caribbean). I especially liked the infinity pool. I love that everything is walking distance (max 3 mins) and accessible. Would definitely stay here again!

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Nice resort

Grounds were well kept but the hotel itself is very outdated. Buffet left a lot to be desired. Staff were great. The biggest issue were people trying to sell us a timeshare even though we said we weren’t interested. We were left sitting in the lobby for 2 hours to get checked in
