Hotel Los Cactus: Los Cactus, a tired old girl, but wouldn't stay anywhere else.

As always the staff at los cactus goes above and beyond to making sure your stay is the best it can be. The ongoing problem of having access to food has become critical in cuba since covid but the kitchen was always trying their best to try to keep everyone happy. Resort was only 30% full so quiet but the shows still continued. Shout out to all staff who are magicians at making the best out of little and staying positive despite cuts in their hours.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Beautiful Resort

Beautiful clean resort. Smaller therefore more compact, intimate. The staff is incredibly friendly and quickly get to know you and your likes. Would have enjoyed more organized entertainment at night (in low season perhaps every other night) Absolutely need washroom availability at beach where bar is open

Playa Pesquero: They made a returning client

This resort was recommended to me by a family member. I was assured that I would love the resort, and they were not wrong. I went to another resort earlier in the year and the experience was night and day. The staff is extremely friendly, respectful and knowledgeable. My girlfriend who is vegetarian was worried about the food selection at thr resort but they were extremely accommodating in fulfilling her dietary needs at all the reservation restaurants and made the experience even better. The be [... read more]ach is incredible with white sand throughout with an option for great snorkeling. The nightly entertainment was lacking but still great with the circumstances that arose after covid. I will be returning here and will only be going to this resort for now on. It's worth it to spend the extra money to turn your trip from a good trip to a great trip and go to this resort.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Very convenient

50 meters lobby to pull, 100 meters lobby to beach. Good staff. Average food selection. 30% of guests are local guys, the rest are Canadians. Sandy beach protected from waves by two rows of reefs, even during a storm I could swim in the sea.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very Good Resort

Lovely resort, nice rooms, great staff and management. Front desk staff very accomodating. Very few shortages for Cuba. Beach a bit difficult for swimming but still nice. Grounds very pretty and well maintained. My third time there and will return.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: TYPICAL CUBA

Hotel: This hotel/resort was ok, but Iberostar Corporate office needs to take notice of it. Definitely starting to show its age, shower drains need to be cleaned out throughout the resort as an example. Work needs to be done on the buildings to bring them more up to speed with what Iberostar is promoting their standards to what its hotels are at. Food: Visited at the end of October, so end of the low season. Some things were available in abundance, such as pork in a variety of styles, sal [... read more]ads, cheese and vegetables. Hit and miss on other meats like chicken and beef. The only fresh fruits that were available were pineapple, guava, but lacked any other fresh fruits, not even bananas, which are grown there. Beach and Pool: Beach was amazing, even though it was too windy to enjoy some days. Loads of room at the pool, no searching for lounge chairs at all. Enjoyed it almost every day. Pool bar could have used a roving server. Restaurants: Buffet had an excellent variety of items to choose from, never went hungry. The A la Carte restaurants were alright, the property used two locations to serve the Gourmet, Italian and Cuban dinners. Rotated the venues, mind you, since it was low season, not all of the resort staff were employed at this time, makes sense. Staff: Absolutely Amazing! All of the staff from the buffet, restaurants and bar areas were almost bending over backwards to keep us happy which was greatly appreciated with return friendship to them, and the tips we gave didn't hurt either *chuckle*. Also, kudos to the transfer bus service. Fantastic service with both the drivers and reps both in and out of the resort. Would we go back, maybe when the economic situation stabilizes and starts getting better. Have to wait and see what the future brings.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Holiday!

Well kept hotel with wonderful friendly staff. Food for Cuba was well executed considering the difficulties there. We did not miss any meals!!!You have a bit of a drive from the airport, just under one hour but it was a comfortable bus and a chance to view the countryside. The rooms were clean and had updated bathrooms . Reliable Wifi available in the rooms .Beach was clean and private but water had a lot of coral but great for snorkeling . Overall exceeded our expectations

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Far from 5-Star

Grounds could be maintained much better .Rooms luxurious but many small things required repair , door handles etc. No alarm clock or USB ports for phone charging. Food was terrible, not much selection or variety. Staff not adequately trained in allergens, like gluten-free requirements. Having a gluten allergy, I was frequently brought meals that had wheat products despite being reassured prior to ordering that it would be prepared gluten free. Beaches and pools were beautiful and bartenders were welcoming and served well , drink selection was limited and bar staff had limited ability to make many drinks. Overall I would not recommend

Starfish Cayo Largo: Good

Room was good,new king size bed,clean a d chamber maid was great. Worse part of trip was no beer,red and white wine Last 2 full days of our vacation. Not all guest drink rum drinks. So we paid to take taxi to marina to get purchase wine and beer. Understand shortages, but blue diamond plus Sunwing need to really try to prevent this to occur. Food was sparse. Overall we love Starfish Resort, cayo largo and will return.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Great resort

The resort was very clean, the rooms very really nice, fairly new. the food was excellent.. choices were great as well.. the only thing the beach was about far from the resort. Otherwise it was of been perfect .. Pool was great..Drinks .. wide variety ..Staff was very friendly..

Blau Varadero: I liked resort.

Beautiful hotel building, large area. Nice big rooms, liked the public areas. The dining room and menu could be much better for such a resort for selected persons. I didn't like the service on the beach. Special thanks to the massage therapists of the spa salon, show artists and restaurant staff who cooked dinner, and the maids who cleaned the room.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Brisas guardalavaca

This is my 6 time at La Brisas. every time I go I like it more and more. Yes they lack food and beverages at times but times are tough. I will continue to return to this resort. As single ladies we feel so safe as there is security always around. If you leave the resort go at your own risk. Beaches are so beautiful pools are clean. Staff is wonderful. Thanks to all the managers for your extended help. See you soon. Travel agent Tammy is awesome but remind me to never fly Sunwing again.

Starfish Jibacoa: Good resort

I love the resort but the pools need new liners plus the cement is very dirty and never washed like it was before a lot of garbage and plastic glasses laying on the ground at pool. The locals on the wee yard very inconsiderate butting in line and just throwing their garbage wherever it landed. The people on the resort are amazing work hard and very friendly and sweet.

Hotel Mojito: It was alright

I’ve been to Cuba a handful of times now so my expectations weren’t crazy high, but this resort is one that I will not return to. The staff is great, though half of them stood around on their phones everywhere we went, the beach was beautiful and the man at the beach bar was fantastic (he even helped me when I got stung by a jellyfish). We had absolutely no hot water in our room for the entire week. No variety of drinks other than beer, scotch and vodka. Only mix was cola for the first day or two. The bugs were bad which is probably the time of year we arrived(November) so maybe avoid their non-winter months. Obviously there were tons of jelly fish in the water this time of year as well. The front desk staff also weren’t very friendly. The a la carts filled up quickly and were basically the buffet food plated nicely. Otherwise it was great

Hotel Playa Paraiso: A B- hotel

The resort itself was good, amazing and helpful staff but the food was disappointing. They didn’t have fresh eggs and used some sort of powder or liquid eggs. They had three restaurants and all of them had very limited items on the menu. The items on the menu of the restaurant seemed like left overs from the buffet menu. They had the same desert as well that was served in the buffet. Worst part was our check was at 12pm but our flight wasn’t until 9:45pm so we paid and took a late check out  [... read more]for 4pm just so we could use the beach for half a day and then come back and shower and leave for the airport. When we got back to our rooms around 1:30pm to shower and change there was not water…. Imagine that after using the beach and you cannot shower before you catch a flight…

Melia Cayo Coco: FRIENDLY AND RELAXING

Such a clean and welcoming resort! The people are amazing and will bend over backwards to make ones vacation great! Nice entertainment and the view of the ocean from the sandy beach WOW! This is the location you'll enjoy if you're looking to relax for sure. Met a lot of people that continue to return and love it! Would say more of a 50+ spot!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: A Great Week at Royalton Cayo Santa Maria

This was our 14th trip to Cuba, so we are familiar with the food and shortages of goods. This hotel was a very good smaller hotel. The service is second to none, and everyone is so pleasant and accomodating. The grounds are well maintained and quite lovely. The beach is spectacular (although rough at times - which was a surprise). While there were shortages (no eggs, no gin, ran out of keg beer and serving from bottles, no shrimp, no white wine at the lobby bar one evening) we ate well and en [... read more]joyed a wide variety of drinks to satisfy our tastes. Overall we enjoyed the restaurants, but found the fare no better or worse than most 4 or 5 star hotels in Cuba. Our room was clean and adequate. We were given beer in our fridge 4 of the 7 days of our stay (even after asking our concierge to ensure we had some). Our housekeeper was excellent and always left our room spotless.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Had the Best Time!!

My boyfriend and I chose this resort because the beach is on an inlet, meaning the sea will be very calm. We were not disappointed. The beach was gorgeous, boasting still, turquoise, transparent waters. The sand went on for miles. We were unable to rent a peddle-boat due to lack of staff, but I’m sure if you stay during peak season you will be able to. The pools were not heated, meaning if the sun was hidden behind clouds it was a little chilly, but by no means did that put a damper on our tri [... read more]p. Everyone mentions the lack of decent food in Cuba, so we went into the week with low expectations. Our expectations of the buffet were met, however the snack bar was our saving grace. Be sure to get a pizza between 1pm and 3pm - they are delicious! We both enjoyed the Italian and French a la carte restaurants, though neither were special enough to write home about, and we both preferred the snack bar food. If you drink, be sure to try the chocolate tequila at the snack bar! Make sure you bring CAD or USD to tip, as they are preferred over CUP. Also, try to refrain from tipping with coins, as they are not accepted at Cuban banks. We exchanged over $70 in coins so that the employees could actually use their well-deserved tip money. We cannot speak on the entertainment, as we did not attend any shows. We played one game of pool at the “Thematic Bar”, and enjoyed it. Bring games, as there is not much to do besides excursions (check out the Jeep safari!). There were a few very minor things we thought could have been better, but nothing that would ruin our stay: 1. Certain lobby bar staff will ignore you until you butt in and ask for what you want, even serving other people before you when you were there first. 2. There are two pool towel exchange stations, but only one was open for half of our trip. 3. Spotty wifi is expected, but it should at least reach to the bed! (To clarify, my iPhone had problems, but my boyfriend’s Android did not.) 4. Water temperature in the shower was incredibly finicky. You turn it 1 cm to the left and it’s boiling hot, but 1 cm to the right and you’re shivering. This could be typical for Cuba, but I feel it’s an easily fixed small issue. 5. BRING BUG SPRAY! This does not affect my review, as it is not the resort’s fault, but the mosquitos were absolutely terrible. SPECIAL THANK YOU to Ariel and both Victor’s at the snack bar. Those three made our vacation amazing. They are genuine people - very kind and willing to answer any questions you may have about life as a local. Ariel is hilarious, and made me laugh so hard I cried! They actually made the language barrier fun to work through, and helped me learn more Spanish. Overall, we loved this resort, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If we choose to return to Cayo Santa Maria, we will definitely stay at The Grand Sirenis!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Vacation Bliss !!!

It’s all about the people. We were made to feel welcomed right from the moment we stepped on the bus from the airport to hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the team at the hotel. The Hotel was well run, clean and comfortable. Our Room was well appointed with easy to adjust air conditioning, clean and comfortable towels and linens. Regular serviced by friendly maids. We just loved the music and atmosphere in the bar in the evening. The food was tasty and plentiful. Just remember you are visiting a foreign country, food may be prepared, look and taste different. The Beach was beautiful and although we visited for 2 weeks ‘out of season’ the weather was bliss. Just be ready for ‘liquid sunshine’ falling from the sky a couple of days. On those days you can visit Havana or Varadero. We would recommend the catamaran day trip. Beautiful scenery, fun crew, just sad that the reefs were bleached with very few fish or coral. We look forward to returning!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Cuba Resort

Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Hotel was a little dated but clean. The grounds around hotel had a lot of palms laying on the ground and sometimes garbage bins were overflowing and needed to be emptied more frequent. We had two days with cold water but it was fixed afterwards. Restaurants were good and food was decent. Entertainment was varied and good even though resort was only operating at low capacity.
