We loved this resort, the walkways to all the different complexes were so well kept and the greenery was amazing. The staff was excellent very helpful right away at the check in. There were a lot of people and they could have had more chairs at the beach. There was one afternoon we were out of luck to find one. The line ups at the buffet for breakfast were at times long. The food overall was very good especially at the a la carte. Rooms were very nice and the housekeeping was the best. Bar servi[... read more]ce was first rate. We were there for a 80th birthday with our children all fourteen of us were very pleased and we enjoyed this resort immensely

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Value family resort -- good balance of quality for the price
Back from a second visit (previous is 4 weeks ago. This time much better and I can confirm Villa 31 is probably the best to stay (see below) - next to pool, next to the main lobby/restaurant, next to the shuttle, and very close to Gym & Theater.
This time came for longer (9 days) and had time really to enjoy it and having rented a car was the best decision so you can immerse in the local environment.
For a second visit the quality is consistent, where the buffet food becomes tiring, and d[... read more]oing trips to grab something more authentic from outside (like Playa del Carmen) made a lot of sense.
Suggestion: Please rent a car if you are planning for day-trips like Chichen-Itza, Coba, and Tulum. If rented for a week, this totally offsets the costs of trips. Went multiple times to PDC (Playa del Carmen), Tulum, Cancun beaches, and revisited Coba and Chichen-Itza.
That said the hotel continues to surprise me: just before I left it came to my attention that that I can't do foreign exchange at the reception, even though rates are posted. This being 5* rated hotel is simply wrong.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Great trip and awesome service.
We appreciated the family atmosphere and activities this resort provided. The family pool was heated and close to the ocean and rooms. The restaurants were all within a good distance and provide a selection that kept us satisfied for 9 days. The area outside the resort was safe for our young family to walk or rent a golf cart from the hotel.
Kids were entertained by activities, including daily dolphin shows.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Love this resort!!
Hubby and I went to the grand sirenis for our 20th anniversary, it was awesome!! The staff was great! The hotel was very clean, the food was very good, the weather wasn’t great but that has nothing to do with the hotel, the beach is very rocky so bring water shoes, there are lots of fish right in the shallow water so snorkelling is great.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Amazing New Resort
This hotel was wonderful. From the minute we checked in we were extremely satisfied that we chose this hotel. Hector checked us in and when we told him that it was our anniversary he upgraded us to a swim up room. The room was excellent. The bed was perfect. The buffet was huge and had an endless choice of dishes. The al-a-carte restaurants were amazing with excellent food. The resort was extremely clean and well taken care of. I would highly recommend this particular hotel to anyone.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: not up to expections
I was at the Platinum Yucatan Princess all Suites -Adult from 8Jan/20 to 22Jan/20
The flight was good and Terminal 2 was fast and well organized in Cancun
I was in room 1007-which is the quiet area with a swim out
The room was good- nice comfortable king size bed and well appointed bathroom and nice deck.
The deck furniture was very stylish and very uncomfortable to sit or lay on
The floors in the suite are marble and dangerous as hell if wet or have have wet shoes - I have run in[... read more]to this before and always leave slippers at the door and at the sliding glass doors to the patio
Maintenance service was fast -they fixed the screen door-it was ripped at the handle and let the bugs in and they replaced the TV which had white spots in the screen
Maid service was excellent and they even have a service about 6pm every night to a fix any shortages or needs- ie more hangers and lack of face clothes, towels or shampoo, etc
I had turndown service once in 2 weeks
The swim outs are not private to the lower level but according to management include anyone in the building or the entire hotel.
So why are we charged a extra surcharge on the daily rate? He claimed it was a provider charge, however their own lobby signs indicate the extra charge for pool access rooms. He also stated that all the pools are inter connected to the main pool. This is incorrect, the only pool access is at the 3000 building and the 5000 building which is connected directly to the 2 small main pools. None of the other pools are connected.
The beach is not swimmable. There were red flags on 12 of the 14 days I was there. The beach is good but the water was very rocky -I always bring beach shoes. There were strong off shore winds and some days it was like being sand blasted if you were trying to relax and read. Very little sea weed or smell and there were people cleaning it every day.
Food
The buffet was excellent and had a very good selection of fruits and vegtables and the breads and deserts were very good, it had a good selection of main courses. Service was very good.
I ate dinner mainly at the Rodeo Grill- its steak and snapper are very good -the chicken is huge- a whole half chicken and would be best split between 2 people. You can order off both the Mexican and Grill menus at the same time. The service was excellent and after 2 days they called me by my name at the door.
They also have a small lunch snack menu of fruit and salad and small sandwiches which is also good.
I ate at Aroma twice -the food and service where good, but I dam near froze both times -it had to be set at 65 degrees if not lower. I asked them the second time and they said they would have it checked.
I ate at Bruschetta-Italian once and was very disappointed in the quality of the pasta it was tough and chewy.
The evening entertainment was varied and good
Clients
I met a lot of nice people there and remet 4 people who had also been at the Princess all Adult from D.R. from the previous year at the same time.
This hotel appears to have a very large component of clients who are in age range of 20 to 45 and I have never run into so many loud drunk people in all my travels.
Airport premium travel lounge.
I also book this. The food was decent and it was relatively quiet with nice seating.
I left early at 1pm when they closed off the bathroom and said they ran out of water. They didn't announce this and I discovered it when I went to the washrooms and they were closed off. I don't know why they ran out of water as the public washrooms about 100 feet away had lots of running water.
I would not rebook this hotel nor would I recommend it
As long as the current health scare is lifted I will go back for a further 2 week holiday in Mexico by the end of March with Sunwing, just not to this one

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Great trip, okay resort
Mexico = awesome, resort = just okay.
There was some great things about this resort that we loved but I think the cons weighed out the benefits.
Pros:
1. Amazing and friendly staff who actually remember you and take time to chat with you.
2. They had daily dolphin shows.
3. There was a rock barrier on a part of the beach which blocked off predator fish so smaller fish would stay in there giving you the opportunity to swim with fish.
4. They had a bar on the side of the ocean with s[... read more]wings - enough said!
5. Mexican food in room service or in Mexican restaurant was really food.
Cons:
1. Rooms were damp and musty, they smelled bad, lamp shades were rusted, sitting on furniture you would get up and your bum would be wet. We complained after two days and they brought a dehumidifier which we appreciate but it only helped so much. We had paid extra for preferred club so I also do feel like we should have been more accommodated then just being given a dehumidifier.
2. Beds were small and uncomfortable, the rooms with a king size bed were sold out so we got a room with two queens but they weren’t queens they were twins and the bed were hard, the pillows were like bricks.
3. The resort was run down, elevators needing maintenance daily. Lights often didn’t work, at one point the lights didn’t work in the room and they spent an hour fixing it. They shower head often wouldn’t work, had to play around with it for 20 mins to get a shower, we didn’t complain about this because we honestly were getting tired of having to complain and waiting around to get things fixed.
4. Disorganized - bars that were supposed to be open until 11pm would close randomly at 6pm for no reason. There aren’t many bars to begin with so this was really annoying. They also don’t really have a good spot to hold events so they would hold them at the oceanic restaurant which was next to the adults pool and bar so that means Tuesday and Friday’s they would close this at 4pm. That also means if you want to see the show you have to eat at the oceanic restaurant (and if you want a guaranteed seat you need to buy a bottle of wine). On Tuesday when they had one show they would close the buffet and on Fridays for the other show they would close the Mexican restaurant so if you had no interest in the show that means 2/5 restaurants for dinner weren’t an option. It may seem like a small thing but when your paying for an all inclusive resort with 5 restaurants you want all the options available to you. Especially if you end up not liking one of the restaurants.
5. Very small beach.
6. Besides the Mexican food the other food was not great, not bad but not really good.
While I really enjoyed my time and appreciate the staffs friendly outgoing attitude I think they need to get better management and give the whole place a renovation to address these issues. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Nice
The public areas, meaning the main floor of the hotel was lovely. The beach beautiful! The pool was too cold. The Mexican people were so lovely. They really aimed to please. We did not like the rooms. They were very plain. We felt the rooms should have been more decadent. The shower was plugged. We complained for three days then got moved to another plain room where the sink was plugged and the coffee maker was broken, but the shower worked. Drank nothing from room frig except water and the[... read more]re was never enough even though request was made for more water to be left.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great Resort. Would definitely recommend!
Loved this resort! Let's start with our room. We are a family of 5 so definitely need lots of space. Two queens and a pull-out couch was plenty with ample room to move. We stayed in a privilege suite facing the back of the hotel. Great view of the jungle from the Jacuzzi tub on the balcony! The bathroom sinks were leaking underneath but we made the call and they had it fixed when we returned to dinner that night. Overall, enjoyed the room.
The resort was a nice size. Not too bad and not too s[... read more]mall. Five different pools to choose from. Daisy pool for the kids, adults only pool, privilege pool for a quiet hang, beach pool and the Eden pool for lots of activities and fun. Lots of variety! We all loved the breakfast and lunch buffet but a little disappointed with dinner buffet the two times we went. A la cartes were great...especially the Italian restaurant. There is always some sort of entertainment/ activity in the evenings. We loved Mexican night on Sunday and the bowling alley was awesome. No complaints about the staff. Everyone was great!
The only a la carte that needed a reservation was the Japanese restaurant. We liked not being tied to a dinner time every time we wanted a la carte. Made for a lot more flexibility. Our only complaint was the way they make the reservations for the Japanese restaurant. They can only be made the day you want to go, first thing in the morning with an hours window.
Beach was nice. There are definitely rocks, as we're in the Mayan, but not a lot. Water was nice and not a lot of seaweed.

Grand Sunset Princess: Great Resort, Highly recommend
This hotel is amazing, the size is so big that you don't realize how busy it is. We had a swim out room which was private, and the pool associated with this area was literally empty. The entertainment amazing, drinks and food as well. The staff was very friendly, attentive and welcoming. I would return to this resort in a heartbeat. I also went for a couple of massages and recommend Hector, he does a fantastic job, I came out of there feeling like a new person. Ocean Riviera Paradise: Good bang for your buck
Booking the rooftop room at the privilege section was worth the money. The restaurants had a good variety. The Mexican was our favourite and the least favourite the steakhouse.
Great addition was the coffee shop and ice cream shop. The lobby and lobby bar were not so inviting because the ceiling is so high and the noise goes around. Great that there are 5 big pools including a nice kids water park. The beach is nice. There was no seaweed but I advise to bring water shoes because if the big roc[... read more]ks in the water. Great waiter service at the beach.
Downside are the people that try to get you in the H10 membership.
To be a member for 25 year the want you to pay almost $40,000 Canadian. Payable in 5 years with a down payment of 35% at 13% or 50% down at 8%.
Than you gave a free stay for one, two or three weeks a year but you “only†need to pay for the all inclusive and service. That will be between $40 and $199 per person per day. Mid January which is low season the day price was $140. When you go for two weeks as a couple you pay $3920. Add on your flights and transfers and when you do the 35% at 13% interest is $565 per month is $6780 for the first 5 years.
Conclusion: your vacation will cost you at least over 10K for the first 5 years. Don’t get fooled.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: It was a great vacation
The resort is very big, but it and our room and the public areas were beautiful and sparkling clean.
I did not see a single plastic straw the whole time I was there, and the hotel is to be commended in using washable plastic glasses in the pool areas. It was great to see this really positive effort to reduce the use of single-use plastics.
We are two seniors - not good walkers - but the buggies that patrolled the pathways were frequent enough to be a real help to us.
One of my worries going [... read more]to Mexico was of the shootings and violence one hears about in the news. I think because the Bahia Principe Tulum was not close to any major city, and because there was a lot of security people around the hotel there were no incidents and I felt perfectly safe.
The food was excellent, the pool areas beautiful, the beach everything one could hope for in a Caribbean setting - and the pelicans diving for their food endlessly entertaining. I'll vote for a return visit next year!

Grand Riviera Princess: Good family resort
The resort offered a lot of amenities for families. They signed out strollers, bottle warmers, monitors and a few other things when available. We were there at about 50% capacity but it felt quite full so I'm not sure what it would look like at full capacity. Barcelo Maya Riviera: Amazing adults only!!
This brand new resort was absolutely amazing!! So clean and fresh. The food and drinks were amazing (and we have pretty high standards)! The hotel is very modern and the rooms and grounds were always kept very clean. The hotel is situated on a gorgeous beach front with no seaweed!!
The service at the restaurants and bars were very good! Everyone was so friendly :).

The only downfall (which we didn’t mind since we go to bed early) is the nightlife was not very good! If you are a big partier that loves night life this resort probably isn’t for you... mind you we didn’t walk over to the other Barcelos at night which could have had better entertainment and been more lively ?
Would strongly recommend!!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Beautiful Tropical Retreat
The Sian Caan is a lovely smaller resort. The pools are surrounded by beautiful trees, but lots of birds. Take cover if your chair is directly under a tree. We did have huge spiders and cockroaches in our room, so we kept out luggage closed. We know tropical surroundings are susceptible to bugs. We stayed on the main floor, but did find that a little concerning.
Now for the food. AMAZING!! Sian Caan has amazing buffet meals. And the gala night with lobster was so good. We enjoyed the al a cart[... read more]e restaurants, but found getting decent reservation times a real challenge. We had many 9pm suppers. And that really is just too late. We did cancel one of the reservations because of that.
