Paradisus Rio De Oro: Best in Holguin area

Delightful stay in a well maintained resort with very pleasant grounds, large clean rooms and very responsive staff. What I liked best was how peaceful it was there - no blaring entertainment around the pool, and very good live music at lunch (beach restaurant) and dinner in the lobby area. At night the entertainment can be heard in the closest rooms until about 11 so if you don't like that, get a room away from the lobby. Melia Cayo Santa Maria: A Wonderful Time

We have just returned from 11 wonderful days at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. This was our 9th trip to the resort. Being so soon after Irma I was totally amazed at the state of the resort. If you have not been here you would not know that this hotel property was hit by a CAT 5 hurricane. The work completed by the employees and construction is truly amazing. The grounds are spectacular and the gardeners deserve first mention here as this sets the tone for the whole resort. Some trees were lost, a l [... read more]ot of leaves are gone, others show a definite lean but I was surprised by the number of coconuts that survived. Cleanup continues but flowers are growing, trees and bushes trimmed and grass is being cut. Everything is manicured and is worthy of new pictures on the Melia sites and brochures. The pool area has lots of shade with new palapas completed. One pool has had the tiles repaired and was completely regrouted. The hot tub between the pools is operating and has many areas for relaxing around it. The two men that maintain the pools and area take such pride and do exceptional work. They are to be commended. Beach towels were available from 9:30 am to 5:00pm daily except for an hour during lunch. New towels were added to the supply the same as for the rooms. There was never a shortage of these. The lobby and bar makeover that was near completion last April has been finished with new painting due to some storm damage. New lighting has been completed and the lobby washrooms have been totally renovated. The openness and extra seating makes it comfortable for viewing the nightly entertainment or enjoying a refreshment at any time of the day or night. The food we have always found to be very good with lots of variety but it seemed better than ever on this trip. The Italian al a carte is now a Tex Mex. This is a corporate decision. I found it different but should you like it very spicy then you may consider bringing you own sauces. The French is now International and has a varied menu. No lobster but a surf and turf with a lobster tail and beef that is wonderful. The Japanese and Mediterranean are still as good as ever. Now my Rant. In many reviews of this and other resorts people have complained about flies in the Buffet. Yes there are flies but if people closed doors after themselves like they do at home there would not be as many getting in. My room seem to be just as I left it in April but I then discovered the new balcony door. Many of the doors have been replaced. The fridge was restocked daily with whatever you required, Pathway lighting has not only been repaired but upgraded as well making for safe romantic walks in the evening hours. It is now much easier to see the crabs scurrying about. Nestor has a new beach bar with many upgrades. One upgrade is a small grill where you can get grilled sandwiches, and burgers. The walkway to get to the beach has been replaced. The Ranchon has a new roof and floor with a new bar and equipment. Expansion of this building was put on hold for now. The beach seems to have been improved from the storm as it is bigger. Shade is not a problem as there is plenty of palapas and loungers available. The Cuban day party was at the Ranchon and beach with music, food, drinks, and dancing and was a great time. There has been many changes to the resort but the one constant is the wonderful staff. Due to Irma their lives have been upset with damage to their homes and families but they greet all guests with warmth and sincerity as they did before this event. Heriberto, Bladimir, Danial, Osbeil, Demarys, Kiriena, Juan Carlos and all the lobby bar staff (too many names), Alaine, Yasmilsky, Yigani, Freidy, Ramone, Hamlet, Louise and his partner at the pools all do an exceptional job at making a guest stay memorable. The gardeners, maids, entertainment staff with Arel and Ernesto, the service workers all make your visit special,

Paradisus Rio De Oro: The resort was amazing

The resort was very nice. Well maintained the grounds were impeccable. The food was excellent. the ala carte restaurant 2nd to none in fact the lobster canolloni was probably the best thing I ever ate. The staff was friendly and very helpful going out of their way to help us. Good entertainment nightly. A bit of a downer The beach was absolutely horrible and excess to it was difficult. We had to walk to the other end of the resort to get to it and walk down stairs . The actual beach area  [... read more]was small and crowded. No room for any beach activity what so ever. To get to the swimming area we had to cross a channel, (that had a slight odor to it, and was quite an eyesore) just to get to the usable part of the beach.. Considering, the reason we, and most people go to Cuba, is for the beach We found it very disappointing

Sol Varadero Beach: 3 star don't expect much but nice

Old and run down. Grounds are tidy but walk careful the grounds are uneven. Rooms in main hotel are completely run down but clean. Building 4 rooms in the 4200 are updated and nice. Pool and swim up bar were good. Buffet was not very good but always found something to eat. Al la carts good and could book one everyday for the next day. Snack bar basic and not open 24hrs. Super fun lobby bar at night and service was excellant. Staff really do try to accomadate. Not very many beach umbrellas so get up early to get shade. Elevators don't work so expect to walk the stairs or get a lower room! I won't go back but I did have a good time at this resort. Will try a different one next time!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amezing!

Amezing! This is the third time in Melia Jardines del Rey .Lobby huge lots of room to sit down to enjoy your favorite drink and good music. Restoran food for every one lots of choice. Room was very clean. Amezing beach. Very friendly staff 😊

Melia Las Dunas: Angus ont

The Hotel was fantastic food was great and the staff where fantastic. the beach was so beautiful the entertanment was good would go back in a flash the only thing l didn't like was the ride there a little long

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing Resort

The resort was clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly. Reception was helpful although they were busy answering calls and you had to wait. We stayed in number 6 and had good service although the maid would forget to replenish our water. On one day she forgot to put towels. We stayed at resort 6 which I think is the higher end. We had a courtesy room in resort 2 and the curtains were missing hooks and the staff were not as friendly. The pool area and beach were excellent. They had great shows everyday. The bar at the lobby area and Piano Bar made great drinks. There was a variety of food and it was excellent.

Sol Palmeras: Good Resort

Generally a good hotel. Bungalows are way better than the standard hotel rooms. Drinks are horrible and do not expect much when it comes to the food. Other than that, my experience was good. Also, for those booking destination weddings please be aware that you will only get a good deal if you have your wedding reception at the venue on the beach but you have to pay extra. They will only let you book a 2.5hrs reception at the hotel venues as they need those rooms for dinners and regular activitie [... read more]s. We were shocked when we heard this. 2.5hrs is not suffice for a wedding reception. I will say that the wedding coordinator did do her best to accommodate but I believe it is quite ridiculous to think wedding receptions are only 2.5hrs.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Good resort

Great place great people great beach good food i would recomend the place. The only thing that i didn't appreciate was the fact that they were fixing the bar in the lobby and the were very noisy while people were trying to relax. Entertainment was very good and the entertainment organizers were fantastic.

Melia Las Dunas: Resilient Cuba (Melia Las Dunas)

We traveled Nov, 11th for a week stay at this fabulous hotel expecting the worse, but was pleasantly surprised how this resort restored 90% of the damages Hurricane Irma caused. The people from the house keeper (Carlos) to the gardeners wait staff and bartenders all had smiles welcoming us too the resort. The food was good the service was excellent and overall very clean. Sol Varadero Beach: AMAZING RESORT YES

At first when we got there it was about 10:30 in the morning we waited until 4 pm for a room my first reaction was what did we get our self into, the room we got was horrible light swtich was not working and it was connected to other things that was not able to work. but the next day i went to the front to address the matter lets just say "if you don't speak up you won't get anywhere". Melia Marina Varadero: good hotel and trip

the food and services is good. but the door is always blocked and cannot open. please fix this issue asap. teh beach is not clean. The hotel should hire someone to clean the beach. one day, the water heating machine was broken and the outside spa is very cold.

Melia Las Antillas: Great Resort for a week of Relaxation

Beautiful beach, Food was very good, Service was amazing, rooms were clean and spacious. Quiet resort, not much going on after midnight. We went for some night life but disco was always empty. Over all I would recommend this resort for people looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Charming resort

Just back from Cayo Santa Maria . A relaxing holiday in a very friendly environment . The staff made all the difference to make my stay memorable . I highly recommand that hotel for those who are looking for a relaxing holiday ! I won't hesitate to go back again

Memories Cayo Largo: Cayo Largo Sol

Neg : The resort is an Old beaten down place, Food was the worst I had. Cats running around while you eat. Mosquitos haven on the resort. I won't go back to Cayo Largo. Pos : The beach is unreal very nice ! Friendly staff.

Melia Jardines del Rey: THE GRAND RIVERIA PRINCESS IS A FABULOUS RESORT, SECOND TIME!

THE GRAND RIVIERA PRINCESS IS A FABULOUS RESORT, SECOND TIME! The Grand Riviera Princess was amazing! The meals, drinks, rooms, pool, beach and staff were wonderful! This is our second time there and we will be going back again! November is a great time to go, no mosquitoes, and no hot stifling humid weather! All of the staff go out of their way to make you happy, the service was excellent, the meals were superb, and the resort was fantastic. Melia Marina Varadero: Will never return

We were disappointed in the food, the service and the level of care we received. The rooms were filthy and everything was in need of repair. Even the beach was in need of some TLC, broken cabanas, beach covered in seaweed and staff standing around chatting.

I booked the marina view room and it was spectacular the bathroom opened up into the room so you could see the ocean view from the bathtub! The service was also great, I really enjoyed my stay here. The quality of food at the restaurants was better than the buffet and delicious :)

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beam me back Scotty

It was a wonderful resort beach was great , staff wonderful , Entertainment at night the best I have had in Cuba . The restaurants were good and very accommodating . the fellow at the reservation desk got us an old fashioned car ride and private interpretor for the same price as a bus ride into Havana .

Melia Marina Varadero: OK resort

A little rough around the edges. Rooms were mouldy smelling. Nothing was fully clean, even in the restaurant - dirty cutlery, lipstick marks on napkins, dust on shelves etc. Pool was nice. Food was not great
