Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Resort was ok!

They have been fixing up the resort which is nice . It's clean , friendly staff , would go again but... The last few days we were there it was hard to get to the snack bar there were a lot of locals in the resort . They would go with 20 burgers at a time and big bubba mugs with lots of beer . And take them to the beach for their friends . At that time service was horrible !

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful but crowded resort

Beautiful resort. But new section needs to have their own buffet n lobby. Not enough seating to relax in the lobby with over 700 rooms. And the wait time for buffet is alittle long. Beach is perfect for snorkling. Staff is very friendly n curtious. Not enough seating for shows but shows were awesome. More lounges needed for pool area aswell. All in all had a great relaxing much needed vacation.

Playa Pesquero: Great trip.

This resort was big but very nice. The lobby had a great bar and great coffee station!! The room was excellent..no complaints at all, although we met a couple that said they had to move rooms twice...no hot water and musty, but we never had an issue!! We stayed in bldg 40. The food was the usual fare for Cuba, not great but not bad either, could always find something to eat. Limited fresh fruit and veggies. The beach was amazing!! Not very deep but long and beautiful and the water...oh my God!!! [... read more] Amazing blue colours!!! Never went to the pool(why would you when you have the beach with bars and food)but it looked very nice and kinda cool the way it was laid out.!! The entertainment was okay, we only went to 2 shows, spent most of the evenings at the mojito bar(great mojito's). They had a rock band Sat. night that was awesome...danced a lot. We were hoping for more nights like this!!! That would be my suggestion for the entertainment...more dancing nights at the mojito bar. The disco smelled really musty so we only went in our last night because we really wanted to dance and the mojito bar closes at 11:-( So if you are looking for a raucous place to party this may not be the place, but we had a blast because we met some great people and partied with them! The staff were friendly for the most part, although at times it seemed you got better service if you tipped, which we did in abundance(hey we have it good in Canada)!! The people with men in their parties seemed to get better service...I was with my sister and sometimes it seemed we got better service when we were with male friends we met there. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't really bad, just an observation. We brought tons of gifts for the maids and wait staff and they seemed very appreciative. A couple of times I left some of my things on the table and they came running after me to give it to me. The last day I left my camera on the lobby bar stool for about 2 hrs and when I realized where I had left it, I went to the bar and sure enough they had taken it to the front desk...so honest!! That really says a lot to me...I'm sure I would have seen it again anywhere else in the Caribbean!! So thank-you very much guys!!! We did not do any excursions, so can't speak to that. I would definitely recommend this place and would go back again. The only reason for the 4 star is the food, I love fresh fruit and veggies and could have used more variety...but I did not starve!!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful Beach

Everything was very relaxing, very clean, friendly staff . Our only complaint is the gym (nothing worked). They had one of the best breakfast resturants I have ever been to in Cuba. The grounds and beach where Besutiful.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: First trip to Cuba, a 3 star that presents better

This is an older 3 star hotel but it is kept up and was quite clean. The staff everywhere were friendly and helpful. The grounds were nice with some areas that had extensive gardens of local flowers, cactus and wood carvings. The pools and deck were cleaned every night. The beach was white sand and the water was clear with a reef off shore for snorkelling. We paid a little extra to upgrade to a Tropical Oceanview room, well worth the money. Nightly entertainment and 5 different Al a Cartes. The food was actually better than I had been told it would be, lots of it and quite a variety.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Decent Experience

The resort was decent looking, a bit worn down. There were four of us so we had two rooms in total. our friend's washroom was leaking from the ceiling, and our room had a few spots of blood which were never cleaned. Our friends complained about the leak and they were moved to a room with view of the pool and partial beach. But they had issues with their washroom, this time the toilet wasn't flushing properly. Also one of the white in-room towels went missing (which was odd) and we were charged $ [... read more]14.75 CUC. Our room was on the main floor in the main building close to reception. It was a great spot except that there were a few nights that we woke up to the strong smell of cigarette smoke in our room. Not sure where it came in from. The pools were clean and the beach was beautiful but it can get a bit crowded. Customer service overall was good, but didn't seem that they went much out of their way to make it special. We had heard that the food in Cuba isn't the greatest, at this resort the food was decent. Like I mentioned, It was a group of four of us going, our two friends had been to Cuba before, we had not. It was a decent experience and fair price. After all it is a 3 star resort and it is Cuba, we made it fun.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Good and Bad

This was my 5th trip to Cuba. This resort overall is not too bad, however, l can't say that l was wowed....the beach was quite disappointing, we were used to gorgeous beaches that you could walk for miles on. In front of the resort was nice, however as soon as you ventured away it was very dirty. Lots of seaweed. This resort has many steps and you need to ensure that you are prepared for them.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: An Great Resort

The food selection, taste & preparation was amazing. The resort was spacious & clean. Beach gorgeous, great for snorkling and exploring! Never a problem getting shade and the people were so welcoming & helpful.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: downhill

The beach is incredible. The front desk staff are simply rude and unhelpful. The bartenders are fabulous. Lineups can be upto an hour to get in buffet as they closed one. No where to get food really at various times if you miss the two hour meal times. Shower either hot or cold and no one came to fix it. Maids are lovely. The vacationers there were so greedy and pushy like they were having their last meal. Poor staff regularly ran out of cups and food and booze at times. I have never experienced [... read more] such agressive people on a vacation. Out of chairs on beach and if you left it for a second it was gone. Our chairs and towels and books were removed when we were walking on the beach. You are charged 15 per towel if you loose it. So many repeat customers saying they would not return. we never got out on paddle boats when we were there in 14 days only opened 2 days our entire vacation. We flew with Cabana airlines it was awful absolutely NO leg room. If you are 5'8" forget it. We asked for emergency seat never got it although we were told we had it. My husband is 6'4" and was sandwiched with one inch dints in his knees.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Amazing resort

Most amazing vacation ever. Most relaxing and so fun. The excursions are a must, The food at the 24 hour Bar the best. The El A Cart Romantica and Greek and Lobster on the Beach I recommend .Many thanks to Ynounne are housekeeper we couldn't wait to see what beautiful centre pieces she made us.To Jorl thank you for everything maybe you should have been slower with the drinks.lol To the amazing cook at the main dining room breakfast omolets the best.The staff so friendly and helpful.Will see you  [... read more]next year for 2 weeks.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Will Return

This was a 1st. visit to Club Amigo in Holguin. It was wonderful. Great location, terrific staff and enough food and drinks for enjoyable stay. Will be back. Met a lot of people who had been there multiple times and have enjoyed the experience.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: It was Okay

The resort was Okay. I wouldn't go back or recommend it to friends or family. The food was okay we could usually find something to eat. The rooms were very dated and air conditioner emitted a foul moldy smell the whole time. I believe this is why we ended up being sick. The amenities in the room were awful. Bring your own blow dryer and hydro converter. (Don't expect a coffee maker in your room) The staff overall where very good and made the stay a little more bearable. The pool was okay tiles m [... read more]issing and I got a cut on my foot from them. Nothing that a band-aid couldn't fix. Beach was nice but the sand fleas were unbelievable as where the mosquitoes at times. One of our travel mates had to have a shot of Benedryl and Cortisone because of the mosquito bites.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Get your money's worth!

The beach was spectacular and one of the nicest I have seen. The staff were very friendly and tried really hard to be accommodating. The food was the same thing breakfast, lunch and dinner the whole time we were there. I knew to expect bland and plain as I had been to Cuba before. However the lack of variety was really disappointing. We went to 2 a la cartes and gave up after that --- the food was basically the same and the only difference being if you wanted to be served at your table. The dr [... read more]inks were made with syrups (e.g. as opposed to real pineapple juice) and powder mixes (quite often the blender had not stirred up the granules enough and you could taste them) and often were luke warm as the glasses were so small and the ice cubes skimped on. We didn't care for the room but it was at least in the main building. We travelled with a group of 12. Half of our group upgraded to the villas but it was an expense I was not willing to do. Having said all that, we had a good time because of our group and I would say we got what we paid for.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Average Resort

The grounds needed up keep, rooms were clean but disapointed in having to pay for bottled water every day and also pay for safe key, it usually is incl. with room.Main buffet was terrible, the a la cartes was OK. Lots of entertainment which was good.)

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Amazing beach

Rooms needed an update but they were very clean. Our rooms location was close to lobby, buffet and pool area. French restaurant was very good and great service. All the staff were friendly and polite. Good resort for the price we paid.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Brisas Guardalavac (Villa)

My Spouse and I had our delayed 40th Anniversary Vacation at this location. The Resort is very nice and cosy but, it is the Staff and indeed the local residents that make this place great! We just might return again!

Playa Pesquero: Love this resort!

I visited this resort last year with my sister and came back this year with 3friends who all loved it as much as I do. The service is fantastic and the grounds are beautiful. I needed medical care twice this visit and received prompt and effective treatment from the on-site physician.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Wouldn't return!

I can't really think of anything good to say, the beach was beautiful but small and the pool was very nice, was hot and sunny the whole 7 days so I'm not complaining, coming from temperatures in Ontario. The was was less than desirable, the Italian restaurant was the only good food I ate in 7 days and I giant rat ran across the top of the roof beams while we were having dinner! Some of the public washrooms around the resort had no toilet seats??? Often no toilet paper and u could wash ur hands but there were no hand dryers or paper towels to dry them! They were often out of stuff such as diet cola, stuff to make piña coladas, Cuban cash at the front desk! C'mon the bank runs out of cash to exchange ur money?? Seriously? The service in resort was slow and they were not friendly, working in the service industry in r&b service specifically, I understand the importants of tips and am a very generous tipper but it quickly became apparent the service was no better even if u tipped, in particular the lobby and out door bartenders were particularly unfriendly! We were a group of 9 so we made the best of the trip, and did have lot of fun, but I would never return to this resort!

STAYED FEB 25- MARCH 4TH .FIRST THANK YOU TO JOSE FOR MAKING EVERYTHING PERFECT FOR OUT 3RD TRIP. I AM TELLING YOU ALL IF YOU BOOK TO GO TO PLAYA PESEQUERO YOU WILL NEVER, EVER, NEED TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE EXCEPT BACK EVERY YEAR. WE CANNOT WAIT TO COME BACK NEXT YEAR. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAUTY OF A RESORT, POOL, BEACH, ROOMS, FOOD, AND STAFF ARE ALL AMAZING. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS RESORT. PLEASE BOOK AND GO YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Resort was ok but not amazing

The resort itself was good and the entertainment as well, but the rooms were just "rooms"'nothing special but it's to your discression on what you like in a room! I'm not a picky eater but I have to say the food was terrible at this resort, not much selection , lots of line ups and just not good! I have been to Cuba twice before and been to varedero which I would go back there but I wouid say I wouodnr go back to this resort in holguin!
