We were there Jan 19th, 2020 and we had a amazing time The resort and the staff were amazing from the time we arrived until we left My daughter is vegan and the a la carte restaurant ensure that we was able to meet her needs I would go back again

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great Resort

This resort is beautiful... the facilities are all top notch. The restaurants were great (food occasionally not quite as hot as would have liked but overall very very good). The staff was terrific. We stayed in the hideaway section and it was really nice. There were two nights we were woken by couple who had partied to hard fighting in hall way. I would bring my earplugs just in case tho!!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: A very nice resort

Ladies and Gentlemen: This was our fourth - two week - visit to Valentine Imperial Maya. We obviously like the resort or we would not have returned for the fourth year in a row. We enjoy your restaurants, beautifully appointed lobby and grounds, our room was kept clean and fresh, staff at resort are friendly and helpful. We had an unfortunate situation when my husband had to pay a visit to your on-site doctor. The doctor diagnosed him with bacterial bronchitis, dispensed an injection, [... read more] antibiotics and cough syrup. The visit took no longer than 40 minutes and the bill came to $9,100.00 Pesos. Although my husband's condition improved greatly, we were quite shocked at the high cost - considering the time spent and the medication dispensed. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have private insurance at home. On our first two visits (4 weeks in total) we were not aware of the Loyalty program available. It certainly was not mentioned to us on check-in, check-out or during our stay. We only found out about it on our third visit (Jan/19) and were rewarded for that particular stay. Although we asked to be retroactively 'rewarded' for our previous four weeks with Valentine we were told that this would not be possible. Quite disappointing really since we have obviously been 'loyal' customers for all 4 of our stays and not only the last 2. BTW - after our first visit we recommended your resort to our friends and they have now visited your resort three times. If you publish this review please delete my email. Thank you. Eva.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Stunning resort!

Beautiful resort with *incredible* and friendly, attentive (without being intrusive) service. Immaculate grounds and picturesque public areas. Lots of unique seating all over resort for relaxing in. Room was perfect, large and modern with in room stocked fridge. Pools were lovely with lots of chairs available at all times (we were there end of January) both on adult and family sides of resort. Bars served wide variety of fun cocktails and staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was fantastic- tr [... read more]ied 4 a la carte restaurants, the best of these being the Teppanaki where a chef cooks for a small party of 8-10 people at a time. The buffets at lunch and breakfast were outstanding with wide variety. Last but not least the beach was amazing, white sand, clean and well maintained with a lifeguard, washrooms and a bar. Would most definitely recommend and will be coming back ourselves!

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Now Sapphire

The hotel was very clean, staff extremely friendly and food excellent. It was a great place to go for a wedding. The surrounding area was beautiful and the locals were very nice. The weather was great, sunny almost every day.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Best beach ever!

We loved this resort with its pristine pool, best beach ever and amazing buffet and a la carte restaurants. A few of the negatives which weren’t deal breakers for us were the room was very tired and worn, the AC wasn’t able to cool the room adequately, and the pool bar doesn’t open until 11 am lol. All in all, we loved it.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Amazing!

We just got back from a 5 day stay at this resort and we couldn’t have been happier! The food was amazing, we loved the Thai restaurant especially, such a great variety of restaurants, we didn’t have time to try them all. The buffet food was the best I’ve even had at resorts as well. The grounds were pristine, clean & gorgeous! It was a tad cooler and windy while we were there so we thought most of the pools were a wee bit chilly unless the sun was out in full force SO we took full advanta [... read more]ge of the warmer adult pool, it was perfect! The staff were lovely and we never had anything but exceptional service! I would definitely come back!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Wonderful resort

Resort was beautifully lush, lots of palm trees and other foliage everywhere and paths throughout the forestry. Monkeys, iguanas, deer, agouti’s all over. You really feel you are one with nature. Along with this lushness also comes extra mosquitoes at dusk and some insect bites but use repellant in evening and all is good. Rooms were very nice and immaculately clean every day. Buffet restaurant was very good and 5 a la carte restaurants were also great especially El Pescador seafood restaurant. Highly recommend this resort.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Above Average Service

As return customers to the Dreams chain we were excited to visit despite some less than positive reviews. Turns out some of the negativity was warranted. Keeping in mind this is the oldest resort in the dreams chain most drawbacks were made up for with exemplary service and attention to detail. This resort is definitely showing its age as the rooms are musty and in poor shape but very clean. Giuliano with the VIP Club was amazing as well, so helpful. It turned out to be a great vacation with the help of these key people, they more than made up for any shortcomings the hotel had. Would I return here probably not unless the pricing was adjusted to reflect the state of the resort. My bottom line here is that the resort needs a very strong investment by the AM Group or to be sold off to another chain.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Good stay

The beach was amazing, definitely a selling feature of the resort. Nice pools, few different options. The food was ok/good, definitely not great. The room was nice, we stayed in the adult only section which I’d definitely recommend if you’re travelling without children. I wish there would have been more day time entertainment. Evening entertainment was hit and miss.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great resort and staff!

The resort was great! The staff was friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean and good size. Food was good, lots of variety with a la carte, but make sure you ask about online booking fills up fast! A!

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort, fantastic trip!

Now Sapphire is a beautiful resort, that we will definitely visit again. The grounds are very nice and well kept. Beach is beautiful! Room was nice, very standard - we stayed in a Tropical View King bedroom. What takes this place to another level is the staff; everyone is amazing, accommodating, and extremely friendly. At the end of the stay, we were asked our favourite employee, and there really are too many to name.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Wonderful Resort

A beautifully kept and sprawling family/adults only resort. This resort incorporates everything one requires to have a great stay. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff pleasant and accommodating. Our hope is return again.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Clean & Great Food

Thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing week. The resort was well laid out with pool options for everyone's wishes.The rooms were up to date, clean, daily stocked fridge and had the most comfortable mattress. The food was very good and with several restaurant options in addition to the buffet, with only one a la carte that required a booking, the Japanese teppanyaki due to 'show' times. The only shortfall was the arrival package that should have had a full colour facility map (received a black & white c [... read more]opy that was so reproduced that it was unclear) and towel cards. Even when we discovered the need for towel cards at the pool, we had to trek back to the front desk only to wait for the towel hut to bring some up to the front desk for distribution. All in all, I would definitely entertain a re-visit to this resort!!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great relaxing holiday!

The beach at the Barcelo Maya Grand complex is HUGE! We never had a problem finding a lounge in either the sun or the shade. There are some hidden rocky areas entering/exiting the ocean so use caution and watch where you’re walking. Alcohol isn’t available in the morning so it was disappointing to miss out on mimosas and coffee with Bailey’s at breakfast. We found that the Colonial/Tropical buffet was better than Caribe buffet for breakfast. We ate dinner at 5 of the a la carte restaurants (Mexico Lindo, Santa Fe, La Trattoria, Kyoto, Mare Nostrum). Our favourite was Santa Fe (steakhouse/meat) – the beef tenderloin was DELICIOUS! Our least favourite was La Trattoria (Italian) – the same disappointing, paper-thin crust pizza served at the buffet. We also really enjoyed the wings, ribs, jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks at Strikers. Service at the restaurants was prompt. Drink service at the bars was sometimes slow when only one bartender was working. Theatre shows were OK – we only attended two (Michael Jackson & Magic/Circus) as the theme of the other shows didn’t appeal to us. Something this complex lacks is LIVE entertainment. There are two piano bars (Colonial and Beach) where a pianist played two sets at night (7:30-8:15pm and 11:15pm-midnight) – we saw posters for 3 different pianists during our one week stay. Aside from that, there was very little going on in the evening – no singers or instrumentalists in the lobbies, no mariachi band at the Mexican a la carte, etc. The “live DJ show” at the mall wasted a stage that would have better suited a full band. For being such a large resort, we found it was surprisingly compact and easily walkable from Beach to Tropical (we have no mobility issues and enjoy the exercise). I would recommend this resort.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Quality is slipping

Rooms, grounds, general upkeep, pool areas, impeccable! Room fridge restocking was hit and miss, checked in Sunday, fridge not done until Tuesday. Then missed on Friday and Saturday. After checking in, went to guest services to book a la carte meals. The first booking we could get before 9:30 was Thursday, then Friday. As this was our second visit we were not interested in any of the a la cartes at the other resorts. So, we were relegated to eating all other meals at the buffet.  [... read more] Hot food should be hot, cold food cold. The only hot food was if you got it directly off the grill. Most was room temperature. The staff everywhere were excellent. Well, the front desk staff had their moments. Ask a question and you could get as many answers as was behind the counter. Beach is hard. Snorkeling is fair, silt gets stirred up. Many people drift up from other resorts, and take up space at the Palace. Lots of walking! Used the coffee the first day. Never replaced! Had to drink it black. No sugar or (ick) whitener.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing!

This was my third trip to this resort. We love the staff. They made us feel very welcomed and safe. Grounds are so clean. Food was great. Water sports fun. Waitresses and bartenders were fantastic. Our room was always well stocked. Room service was fast and delicious and the concierge/butlers were great. The infinity pool is beautiful but freezing cold (probably my only complaint). I will return!

Barcelo Maya Palace: Great place (some issues)

So we were returning for our second visit and were absolutely floored that the resort group (Barcelo) does not recognize returning guests as loyal unless booked via their own system. Shameful way to operate. More or less threatened to not lose our towel cards or get “fined”$25 USD but the funny thing is they don’t use the cards and the staff collect towels right off loungers starting at 2:30 pm daily. Told we couldn’t have a king bed unless we wanted to “be out by the road” due to re [... read more]novations, when in fact there were no renovations underway as proven to us by an on-site customer service person stationed in the hallways of the room blocks. Buffet food in trays was usually cold. My brother an experienced chef showed me why. They place dry food in trays on hot bricks with no overhead heat and upon questioning they are allowed to leave food on the buffet for two hours before changing. The staff beyond the front desk are amazing, the beach is great, the bars are superior. We arrived Sunday and at 1 pm we attempted to make a la carte reservations and could only get seats for 3 on Thursday and Friday unless we wanted to eat at 9pm or later. Being two diabetics we need to eat at regular hours so we were not pleased with this. Given the fact the resort was very lightly booked it should not have been an issue. However we learned that the AO (Riviera) folks seem to get priority bookings at the Palace. The fridge (minor) was not stocked at all upon check in and took two days and 50 pesos to get that taken care of. Turn down service happened once in 6 nights so maybe we weren’t supposed to get it at all. Oh well I know how to turn down a comforter. Cleaning was spot on, rooms was always very clean. TV if required is limited but again that’s not why we go south. Sunwing rep chastised us heavily for not taking in the speech, and threatened us with not getting a ride to the airport because we checked in Tuesday versus Monday, then she wasn’t even there on Saturday when she told us to come back and confirm our private transfer. Her replacement got angry because we did not have our booking number and told us to go get it because they can’t “simply look you up” in their system. Great system Sunwing has, if in fact that was true. Then he told us what time and we called ourselves to confirm and got a later time so we believe he did it intentionally. To summarize, I would return to the Palace but expect Barcelo group to treat returning customers better.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Staff so friendly

We thought the food and ambiance was amazing in the restaurants and staff kept everything so clean. Loved the king size bed and jacuzzi tub on balcony. Would definitely consider going again. It was environmentally friendly where one switch would turn off all the lights to save energy
