Hotel Mojito: Excellent resort

The room and the bathroom was very clean ....Excellent white sandy beach....the shows were ok....could have been a bit more entertaining. The disco was not very popular....music needed to be updated more to gravitate the tourist.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great New Resort

The hotel , rooms, and beach were excellent with a lot of attention being paid by staff to improving the grounds and providing good, friendly service. Food was acceptable but more variety would improve it overall. Entertainment was excellent but we would recommend that management find ways to inform guests of where and when events will take place.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Awesome Week!

We just returned from a week at Iberostar Play Pilar (March 16 - 23), and had a fantastic time. We were in a room on the 3rd floor of Building 15 so it was a bit of a hike to the main lobby, buffet and beach, but it was nice and quiet, and had a great view of the water. The room was clean and AC worked very well! The buffet was good - servers were great and very hospitable. Food was pretty decent for Cuba - a few misses but lots of variety and we never had an issue finding anything to eat. [... read more] A la carte restaurants were overall excellent - the Japanese was hands down the best one, and Mediterranean was very good as well. The Gourmet wasn't as good as I was expecting but was still decent. Beach was a bit different than what I'm used to but I enjoyed the boardwalk and there are still lots of beach chairs on the sand to sit and have a good beach experience. The water was beautiful and clear, and snorkelling off the beach (WWII shipwreck there which was cool) was one of the highlights of the trip! We walked to Playa Pilar once from the resort and it was very nice, but we decided to just stick to using the resort beach as it was still very good and close to the all inclusive bar :) A great week and we will definitely be back!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: very good resort

This new resort is well situated , compact and the majority of rooms have some ocean view. Since it is brand new, there were no problems with hot water, air conditioning, access etc. The theater was not yet completed and so they had the entertainment either in the open square, the pool area and the lobby. The staff is extremely accommodating and the majority, down to the gardeners, speak some or good English. The food was not up to par even for Cuba and especially for a 4.5 or 5 star hotel. I am not being negative but feel some of the other reviews are not what i have experienced especially during the same stay that i was there mainly march 18 to 25th. Nevertheless the resort itself is fabulous, clean, well laid out and has a beautiful beach with, at our stay, already had at least 50 huts for shade . Plus there were a substantial number of loungers too more than enough for a full resort, The beach is cleaned daily and the water is clear and shallow. Upon visiting Pillar beach, i feel the beach area and water is on par with that beach. They also have servers along the beach or you can go yourself to the beach bar. The pool area is self explanatory if you visit the resort facebook site. Remember this is a brand new resort so the grounds still need a year of growth to bring them up to par with older resorts. The rooms too are beautiful with a free safe, umbrella, coffee machine, fridge with water, drinks and beer replenished daily, nice size bathroom with a large walk in shower with ceiling water shower. No complaints whatsoever . These comments are made from three couples of different ages who have been to numerous Cuban, Mexican and Dominican resorts for the past 40 years. Hotel Camino del Mar: Great value

The beach, food, and staff we're awesome. The rooms were in need of some TLC, but overall it was a great vacation and we'd go back. Walking distance to other resorts. But the beach was the best we've ever seen. Don't miss the sunrise at the beach.

love this place sec time there people are so wonderful very friendly food was great had lots of fun in sportsbar beach is lovely went with group of 10 they set tables for us at lunch and dinner everyone came home happy and said they would go back

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: When improved does not mean nicer or better

It was our second time in this hotel. On our first trip I found the beach small, but beautiful, charming, picture perfect. Now the beach is expanded, well, there is much more space for kite surfers, but overall look somehow is not as mesmerizing as before. The hotel was repainted and the colors are not so cheerful. The other areas of the hotel are the same. This is "good value for your money" hotel, not luxury resort. The pleasant surprise came when some of the staff remembered us (after 3 years [... read more]) and we got treated to special dinner: very good menu and live music. It is a pity that the pink flamingos are gone after hurricane Irma. They were beautiful. There is only a few pelicans and white herons left. Vegetation also suffered a lot. Not so many palm trees left, other trees were almost naked, new growth is starting slowly.

Hotel Mojito: Unforgetable Week!

Been there 13 years ago. Big difference now. And its all thanks to Amazing Cuban People working hard there. After devastating hurricane 6 month ago they rebuild most of the resort. Blocks, rooms, pools, restaurants in full working order. But they don't make your vacations good, people do. Service was really amazing, everybody on their heels to make you happy. Had minor problem with somebody locking up empty safe before leaving... bad boy! Was fixed within 30 min. after reporting to client servic [... read more]e. Technician even fixed my foggy picture on TV in the same visit. Later my door to bath locked me out of it. Again it was done before I knew it. Foods like good old days at home, and variety to fulfill everybody's taste. Veggie soups at lunch and dinner...Yummy! Have to learn how to cook them! Italian a la carte a must to go. Cuban People listen and learn from previous guests complains. 1st time I didn't have to bring my favourite spices. Resort deserves 4* again definitely. Hope Alyeti feels better now, we missed Her. Melia Cayo Coco: Comfortable, cozy and clean with a dash of spectacular!

At first glance, the Melia Cayo Coco looked like a hotel that is very well cared for. The grounds are beautifully manicured, the washrooms in the lobby are pristine. The food in the main buffet as well as in all the à la carte restaurants was quite good (especially the fresh Basa on the grill in the buffet and the Blue fish dish in the International). All the shows are top quality and because this resort is adult only; there are pre-shows around 8 pm that showcase many talented musicians [... read more] of all music genres Jazz, rock and roll, opera, Cuban flavor and classical. This is a classy resort, no excessive or loud music all day long, no beer-chugging or get drunk at the swim-up pool bar. By 10h30 or 11h00pm the older crowd is dispersed and off to bed. So the disco that starts around 11h00 is a no show for many people. If you want to continue partying, many younger adults 18+ go to the disco at the caves off resort. As part of the Melia experience, there were services offered and activities available to keep you as busy as you wished to be. You could take a peddle bike free of charge for an hour or two and visit the market close by or tour the other sister hotels nearby. You could hop on a double-decker bus for a small fee for the day and tour the neighboring hotels and /or Pilar beach. You could take a little train ride or walk to the small market. There is also a sport facility where you can try archery, a tennis lesson, bocce, Ping-Pong or fuse ball. The animation team worked hard to ensure that your experience at the Melia was an enjoyable one. As we tried rum tasting at the pool, the bar tender showed the crowd how to mix the most popular drinks in Cuba using their rum. At the beautiful white sand beach with aqua blue waters, you can relax under the many palapos reserved for Melia guests or if you are feeling adventurist, you can reserve a ride on a small catamaran at the aquatic center at the Sol hotel next door (sister hotel) or go on a snorkeling excursion for 15 cucs to a small coral reef in front of the hotel. Most importantly, we return year after year to Cuba (mostly Cayo Coco) because of the friendly nature of Cubans, for the lively rhythmic music, for the pristine beaches and most of all because Cuba is as authentic as it gets. There are no MacDonalds or other big major restaurant chains, no annoying salesperson trying to sell you timeshares at there resort, no excessive motorized watercrafts at the beach. Cuba is like going to your second home (cottage) for a short summer vacation.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Mehh....

While the beach was incredible I would rate this place to be a 3/5. There were some good and some not so good things. If you truly don't care about anything but weather and beach - GO! If overall cleanliness of facilities DOESEN'T bother you - GO. All of the resort public bathrooms are disgusting! - and usually lacking toilet paper. Guest room bathrooms riddled with BLACK MOLD and a shower that is so old that the faucet is hanging out of the wall! And our room was a renovated room.  [... read more] The staff were much friendlier than the last time I was in Cuba (Veradero). However, if you don't want to feel like every staff member is anticipating a tip from you for EVERYTHING - DON"T GO!! If you want windows open to enjoy the ocean breeze off your ocean view room - DON'T GO! (Unless you like fighting mosquitos that have been interrupting your sleep for a few hours and as you eliminate them, 1 by 1, you realize the pint of blood all over your wall and ceiling is YOUR BLOOD!) Also, even with the AC set to 20C, the humidity would seep in due to the sliding door of the balcony not closing properly. The last night I crawled into bed and discovered that my bed was soaked in condensation. Food & Beverage: The cheese selection and cold cuts at the buffet were awesome! The house red is quite nice as well. Enjoyed it with the cheese. The seafood presentation was very nice, but disappointing in flavor. The fresh fish is excellent, as were the chicken tacos. The buffet basically had the same food every night. Thankful for salt. The Snack Bar is open 24 hrs. The pizza is safe. In the evening the "Cuban" dinner is really good. Wish I had discovered this earlier. The "Italian" a la carte had no idea that they could create some amazing meals with the cheese they had access to. Stick with the spaghetti. The service was good and the view was nice. The chocolate mousse wasn't bad. The Mediterranean a la carte was worse. We felt so rushed and managed even though the place was 70% empty. Our food was terrible!! Ended up eating something at the snack bar later. Cutlery and place mats were generally dirty more often then not at the buffet and snack bar. Also, the meat is very tough and all they have are butter knives - accept for the Italian restaurant. GO TO THE LOBBY BAR!!!!! Morning and night!!! They make the best mixed drinks as well as having espresso in the morning. I brought my own tea bags. Other Stuff: My husband needed the Doctor to get a weekly shot administered. He was very pleased with the service he received. Friendly and professional. There was a small fee of $5 Cuban but well worth it. Moron - If you go into the city there are several beggars. Some will try to convince you they recognize you because they work at your resort. (They all know the wrist bands of the different resorts). They will tell you they just had a baby and are going to be off for 5 days. Could you please give them some money so they can buy - this or that... Just ignore them. There is a very long causeway to get to Moron. On the Cayo Coco side there is the best Pina Colada you will ever have! Lovely scenery as well. Only take Canadian currency - NO AMERICAN!! You must change your money at the airport or hotel (8:30 - 4:30). Get lots of small bills. Exchange is about the same as U.S. We spent about $300 in tips for the week. It adds up quickly.

Melia Cayo Coco: Good

They are working very hard to get it back to what it was .It is starting to look nice . Food was good drinks were great . Great coffee in the morning at the pool bar. Rooms could use better mattresses . Over all it was a great holiday. Staff was very friendly even the graders they would make you a little bird or give you a flower .always a hello☺

Melia Jardines del Rey: I was thrilled

The facility is top notch beautiful with large spacious bedrooms. The grounds well kept and facilities beautiful. You can see the damage to trees and buildings, that they are still recovering from the hurricane, but they are really staying on top of things. The Entertainment was amazing, the Dance Troop that performed in the evening was the best I've seen in the last 10 years. The facilities, rooms, public areas are clean. And even though a public bathroom may have had a broken toilet, they [... read more] fixed these things in a timely fashion. I applaud the work they did to keep things clean...even with the tourists who showed no respect to the people and facilities by leaving things lying around, left garbage, and made unnecessary messes. Please people there are garbage cans everywhere, so pick up, clean up. Kudos to Lenny's Bar and Grill, best Lobster and Shrimp ever. The food is lacking in comparison to years previously, but you never go hungry. But you have to remember, the hurricane destroyed trees and plants. Gardens on the resorts were destroyed, and animals killed. All in All, I Love Cuba, its Authentic .... no walmarts, no pizza pizza, and no subway's .... and that is refreshing. Also I always feel safe in Cuba. The people are very kind and loving.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Beach, Staff, Views: A+

We love Cuba for its gorgeous scenery, amazing people, first-class service and unbeatable value. This resort did not disappoint in these factors. In terms of food, I'd say the variety of choices in the buffet was poor in comparison to other parts of Cuba we've been. However, overall we found we really enjoyed the food itself: Specifically our entire meal at the Cuban restaurant, the fresh-made-to-order buffet options, and the grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. There is not a bad view from anywhere on the resort. I liked how you can view the beach and resort action even from the lobby. The view from our room of the huge beach and turquoise water was unbelievable. Pool was clean and swimup bar was a great time. Activities around the pool were fun. The staff at the resort are amazing--we had 5-star service from everyone we encountered. Bar staff are great, activity team fun but not in your face, waiters super personable, lobby staff, gardeners, maids, etc...all friendly, helpful and kind people. We had a great time and met many amazing fellow travellers as well. And finally: the beach! Incredible. Long, gorgeous, and worth every penny. Loved our trip and thought it was an excellent value.

Sol Cayo Coco: Great Holiday

The grounds were well kept and gardeners working on them constantly. Rooms were well cleaned and comfortable, but room furnishings could be upgraded, mattresses comfortable. Food was good, lots of choices. Lack of greens after a few days. Coffee excellent and service very good with friendly staff.. Beaches are beautiful and pristine. We will be returning for our 4th visit and would recommend to friends.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Not good for what you pay

This was our 4th time at this hotel this was the worst. 2 days to get our fridge fixed. Toilet did not flush broken. 3 days no maid service. Staff would only serve you if u tipped. Food was always the same thing hot food was cold. We will not return

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Nice resort!

Hotel very clean and well maintained. Staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Resort is fully operational and cleaned up after recent hurricanes as evidenced by young landscape plantings and new beach shelters, which by the way were plentiful! Beach was great for our needs and water very clear, but a little awkward accessing water from gorgeous elevated boardwalk (not ideal for those with mobility issues) Pool was great! well designed and situated and very clean with daily activities f [... read more]or families.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Holiday from hell!!!!!

March 16th, 2018: Arrived late and exhausted, reception staff could not find us in system and moved on to other people. We were the last people to be processed in our arrival group. 24 hr. access to food and drinks - fresh bun, old ham (looked like had been left out for a while) and slice of cheese Yuk! Day 1: lunch good, beach awesome. Dinner 6:30 pm, by 9 pm not feeling good. Went to room and slept Day 2: had buffet breakfast, started vomiting after I returned to my room, had severe abdomi [... read more]nal pain. By afternoon, condition worsened. Sorry graphic detail here. While I was in my room, I had to run to the bathroom, but; did not make it. Diarrhea and blood trail splashed from my bed to toilet. When my friend came in the room she went for a doctor and someone to clean the floor. I was bleeding out my rectum and in pain, intestines very tender and swollen, belly looked like beach ball. Told my medical staff, not sure if she was a Dr. or a nurse; my condition likely from the sun. Several attempts were made to give me IV. At one point IV fluid built up under my skin until I said my arm hurt and then it was removed. The area was raised up and then bruised badly afterwards. My Arms had bruises from 6 IV attempts. Medical person told me I was fucked. I was given charcoal tablets, antibiotic and medication for bacteria in intestines, also anti-nausea medication, a needle in my bum (not sure what for as English Spanish communication challenges) and electrolyte packets for my water. Day 3: I was asked to check in with the Dr. I stopped by the Air Transat rep as my friend was meeting with him to cancel a trip. He gave me such a look - not pleasant when I mentioned I might have had food poisoning, too sick to discuss. I went to my room. Later was informed that hotel paying my medical bill and that my friend was required to sign off for us not to pursue anything! I spent my time in my room, mostly sleeping or on the toilet during my vacation. I did not eat anything other than a piece of bread, a tiny cinnamon bun and a few bites of plain potato. At one point in my room, I called the desk to say I was sick and asked if I could get some food. I wanted something I might be able to keep down, told I had to go to the restaurant. That night horrible, so noisy!! Practice at band shell for a show and then the show and why loud music after the show is a mystery! Day 4: Laid at VIP lounge until plane ready to board. We paid for VIP. Went purchased VIP passes before I got sick. Thank goodness. If you go, hope you like loud nights, eat safe foods and be prepared to fend for yourself because the hotel is mostly concerned with covering its ass. Staff will not go out of their way to be helpful, they do not communicate with each other or they just do not give a damn! I went to the medical clinic where my Dr. `s office is. Told most likely got food poisoning. My friend and I did not have a vacation. It was a survival test. Really administration staff should have arranged for someone to check in with us to see if we needed anything. We should be reimbursed for our trip plus compensation for pain and suffering! Still recovering at home in Canada as of March 26th, 2018.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Amazing experience!

I have nothing negative to say about our visit. The hotel was amazing, the staff were amazing, the food was good, we always found something to eat. One of the days we missed breakfast due to sleeping in which was a fault of our own, but our only options of food were from the snack bar. The only downside was that the snack bar only offered food such as pizza, pasta, or burgers and fries. My only recommendation would be that they offer more "breakfast type food" before lunch for those who may  [... read more]be late getting up, but other than that everything was great. There was lots to do every day, a lot of entertainment at the pool in the afternoon and the entertainment staff was really great at getting people involved. I have to say I went outside my bubble and tried a lot of things I wouldn't normally try if it weren't for them. We will definitely be back to this resort in the future. The staff and the entertainment at this resort were EXCEPTIONAL! I have to say they absolutely made the experience that much better. To anyone who is thinking of staying at Iberostar Playa Pilar you will not regret it :)

Melia Jardines del Rey: Fantastic Resort!

This was our second time staying at the Melia Jardines del Rey! I think the resort is one of the best ones in Cayo Coco, The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, the service was amazing! the food was good, the beach is perfect, you can walk out for a distance and sit on the sand bars, its mostly calm waters, and the beach is clean. Even though the resort is a large one, it doesn't have the feel that its overpowering with a lot of people. We went in early March, and it was a [... read more] little cool, but sunny. There was a lot of activity throughout the day, so you can never get bored, or if you just want to lay by the pool or the beach, you would enjoy your time at either one. It is a very relaxing atmosphere. I absolutely love it there. We are already planning our third trip there for next year!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Resort!

This place was amazing, Beach was the best!! We stayed in bldg #5 and it was great, food was great....never went without. The staff were attentive, the grounds were fine after what cuba went through with the Hurricane. AMAZING!!
