The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Excellent resort.

Everything about this resort was very good. The grounds, public areas, room was very well serviced. The dining and A L’Carte restaurants was excellent. This was our 2nd visit to this resort in the last 2 years and we will definitely go back. I have also recommended it to friends who went and they enjoyed it very much too.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Great Resort

After a 75 minute bus ride, we arrived and we were instantly treated with drinks and the service at the front desk was quick and easy. Our room was an oceanfront with a balcony. Best views are on the 4th floor. Very clean and always kept clean. We met our butler for the week and he was fantastic. It's a small resort and everything is close by. Be aware there are lots of steps to the beach, pool and rooms. The grounds were beautifully kept. The beach was small, so don't expect long walks . No sea [... read more]weed and a very swimmable area. It has a beach bar with full service. The bartenders were amazing. Be specific when ordering because they do like to put too much liquor in when making drinks. The pool area was always fun to be at with many activities throughout the day. The animators were very friendly and always tried to get everyone involved. It wasn't too noisy either. The pool bar had easy access and the bartenders were awesome. Washrooms were close by and seats were always available. The night shows were typical of any other resort I've been too, so don't expect too much. Also, after 11 pm, there is really nothing to do. The bars hours should be extended and there should be some sort of music playing at least until 12 am. The biggest disappointment was the food. Most reviews raved about the a la carte restaurants, but the food was subpar at best. Always cold and not too appetizing. Out of the 3, the Brazilian was probably the best but the food was very salty. The buffet is your best option with lots to choose from, but its the same almost everyday. The best night was seafood night (Thursday) at the buffet. Service at all restaurants was exceptionally good. Overall, we had a great time especially relaxing by the ocean. The people were wonderful. I probably won't go back, as we like to try different places. Cheers!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: It's a very nice resort

The hotel is old but clean and customer service is excellent, friendly and helpful staff, food was good, and the entertainment was okay. The beach is spread out and so it's never crowded, very quiet and peaceful. If you are looking for Wifi it's ok.

Reviewed 2 days ago Don't believe the naysayers....This place is great! Just returned from our best tropical vacation yet! Arrived at the hotel late afternoon. Check in was fast and pleasant, and then we were escorted to our well appointed room by a hostess who explained the hotel amenities, showed us our room features and outlined the various services available to us. Fo [... read more]od was the best we've ever experienced at a resort....beef tenderloin, rib steak, chateau briand and of course jerk chicken! Drink selection was equally impressive.... Canadian Club, JW Black Label,Grey Goose etc....as long as you ask for them specifically! Even though it was busy over March Break, we had no issue finding loungers around the pools. They do enforce the rules about reserving loungers early. They periodically swept up unattended towels, bags etc before 8am and their owners had to retrieve them from the towel hut! (Yes I got caught too, but it prevents people keeping two sets of chairs locked up at both the beach and the pool!) As usual, it's the people that make or break your vacation. For the first time in our dozen or so tropical trips, there was never a situation that made us feel as if an employee was merely "going through the motions" when interacting with us. From the reception staff, waiters and waitresses, bar staff (especially Teddy-Lee, Timmoy and Shedale), security people (my 5am coffee buddy Patrick....an employee of a private contractor, but certainly did the hotel proud!), and the always friendly grounds and room staff, we always felt appreciated and respected. And I think I know why...... This property has a very visible and involved management. I saw them constantly roaming the property identifying anything that was less than perfect. They were very hands on, picking up any trash, calling for maintainance, etc. As an operations supervisor myself, I was REALLY impressed with Gianni? Jonni? (I wish I had taken note of his proper spelling! Sorry!) I saw him often, and he was always active and professional! He was even involved in catching one of the resident cats that appeared injured. We spoke a couple of times, and I believe he is responsible for the overall operation of the Luxury Side. When management leads by example, you get these great results! If there is anything that is less than perfect, it might be the beach. There is no endless expanse of sand as you would find in Punta Cana or Varadero, but it is passable. There is a private Luxury only beach, or the larger "everyone" beach at the other side of the resort. For me, this wasn't an issue. This was truly the best experience we've had so far...and probably will be tough to beat!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Fun resort!

We spent 7 days at the Bahia Principe and loved every minute of it. The only down side of the resort is the beach area. The beach area is not very big and there was only a small area of the beach where you can swim. All in all we are quite impress with the food and the service. Good food at the buffet. There was something for everyone. Very difficult to get a reservation at the specialty restaurant. Just a quick note, although it is an all inclusive resort, an all you can eat buffet, gues [... read more]ts should tip the person who serve you your wine, water, juice or beer. We saw a lot of guests not tipping, just getting up and leave. A US$2.00 tip every meal, that is $6.00 a day times 7 days is only $42.00. I'm sure it won't break the bank. It means a lot to the servers if you tip and they appreciate it. We enjoyed our vacation and we will go back for sure.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Fantastic week away

The resort was very clean, staff was very friendly but the wifi was very difficult to obtain a connection but being on vacation this was not a big deal for us. The food was fantastic and it was very easily to reserve for the restaurants. We visited the same resort two years ago and noticed there were many improvements made to the beach front and the resort continues with improvements.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Amazing time at the Bahia Principe

Overall, great place! Food was excellent, never went hungry. The beef patties at the grill were awesome. Had the opportunities to try the Brazilian steakhouse on the luxury side (adults only) and it was absoutely delicious and our favourite meal of the trip. The staff are very friendly, most very genuine. Pools were great, and beach near the kids park was great. Rooms were clean and spacious. Would love to come back and stay on the luxury side, as it did seem a little nicer over there.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: A great choice

Pro: - Resort was clean and well maintained. - White sandy beach with palm trees. The water was calm and in March it was a great temperature for swimming - There were a lot of beach/pool chairs available, as well as several areas for shade - Wifi was available throughout the resort, including the beach. You had to reactivate it every 24 hours and it was at times slow, but overall it met our needs - Food quality was good, with a varied selection - Room was large, as it included a sitting ar [... read more]eas and balcony. There was a separate bathroom which allowed privacy - Staff were friendly and eager to assist - We had read reviews of poor service at the buffet, but that was not our experience. We received quick and attentive service - We had access to the facilities at the BP La Romana Resort. This made the resort feel larger, but we appreciated that the Bouganville was quieter and more refined. Cons: - Due to an intersection of the ocean with a stream, the water at the beach was murky. The water close to beach was also quite rocky and there was a ridge you had to get over to get into the deeper water. - At the buffet, staff were sometimes slow in replacing hot food so you would find steamers cold or empty. Tips: - We really enjoyed the Don Pablo Gourmet (went twice). Great service and delicious food. We would highly recommend it. - We also went to the the Asian restaurant (Oriental Takara), Brazilian restaurant (Los Carales Rodizio), and Seafood restaurant (El Pescador). They were all good, but did not blow us away. At the Brazilian and Seafood restaurants the appetizer and dessert are buffet style, with a limited selection of desserts. - Book reservations early. We booked on our first day using the app and were able to get several restaurants. However when I looked on the app a few days later there was nothing available. Luckily with the help of the guest services desk we were able to get a few more reservations. - There are no English channels on the television so bring an iPad and Netflix or another form of entertainment if you plan to spend time in the room. - The evening show took place at the LB La Romana (resort next door) or the Bahia Villege (space shared by both hotels), with a pre-show happening in the lobby of the Bouganville. The circus show was great! We also enjoyed the Michael Jackson Tribute. Overall, we would be happy to return to this resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Awesome resort

The resort was amazing. Great food, beautiful pools, excellent service and atmosphere. Be prepared to walk as it is a large resort and the nice beach is on the family side of the resort. Had a concern with our room but it was rectified quickly.

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Mixed review...

We just returned from a vacation at Grand Bahia Principe Turquesa. Overall, the vacation was fine. Escaping winter with family is always enjoyable for us. That said, I can't imagine that I would book here again. Here are some notes: Front desk: Anything you do at the front desk seems to take a decade, whether it is busy or not. I actually had to extend my stay because my daughter developed an ear infection and couldn't fly home, and arrangements for this seemed to be astronomically comp [... read more]licated. Language is definitely an issue and there is little understanding of what is inconvenient for the guest. Food: Not good. If you stick to some of the freshly made things like the pasta or omelette bar you can get by. I didn't go to Punta Cana for fine dining but still was a bit surprised. The fish/seafood had a very strong taste and caused some intestinal issues for me. Service in the buffet was also not great. Sometimes we would be finished our meal before being offered something to drink. You can order only soft drinks and beer/wine in the buffet. Also with regard to food, the resort itself is the farthest from the beach. We knew this when we booked but could never have fathomed the enormity of the property. Turquesa guests can eat only at the Turquesa buffet or one other option near the beach that is open late. So, for snacks outside of meal times, that's a 10 minute trip on a trolley to the beach area (after you wait for the trolley). There are no snacks in the room (at other resorts the mini bar has included some snack foods) so this is an issue. The a-la-cartes are not much different from the buffet, but the Garden Grill was actually quite good and the Teppanyaki restaurant was a fun departure from the ordinary. Service: Very hit or miss. Some workers seemed genuinely happy to serve guests, but others seemed disgusted with their presence. Tipping wasn't very common here. We tipped frequently, but didn't notice others doing it. I think this may factor into some of the negative attitudes among workers. On the other hand, it was sometimes difficult to tip because of the division of labour. For instance, at breakfast you might interact with 4 different servers (one to seat you, one for coffee, one for other drinks, one who cleared your plates). The beach was gorgeous and the pools were a lot of fun. The kids' water park was nice as well. And in the end, if this is what you are going for and can tolerate some of the negative stuff described above, it's not bad. The property is clean and I have no complaints about the room.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: A great family vacation resort!

This location is beautiful with friendly staff and great food. A lot of things for children to do. We didn't have children with us this time, but I noticed how child friendly it was and how many children were there.

very beautiful resort, service was great, the grounds were very well kept, food was excellent! Our room was very spacious, kept clean. we are seriously considering booking this resort again for next March Break.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: AMAZING RESORT!!!!

We have never been to such a large resort. The were beautiful, pools sparkling, wine cold. Our room was so pretty, we felt like a king and queen. We enjoyed the amenities, which, were plenty to pick from! The staff was so incredibly friendly, always acknowledging us. The buffet was so fresh, full and a big! So very many different types of restaurants available. All in all, a GREAT experience, we are planning our next trip already!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Very Nice Vacation

Resort was nice and clean. We had no complaints about the resort or staff. Entertainment pool side was amusing and upbeat. Beach area was spectacular. Food was decent - no complaints - always left full and satisfied. Ambar Blue itself is nice and small but entire Bahia property is huge - they offer golf cart service around the property which was available with no waits. Great vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Phenominal!

It was an amazing week in the sun... the resort was huge but it was easy to navigate (not a lot of stairs or hilly) and there were trams everywhere at any time of day. Lots of choices of food at the buffet and the al la carts were very good too! The rooms were clean, plenty of pools, food and drink always steps away. The grounds were immaculate and surprisingly and very happy to say that there were enough green areas for local habitat to still thrive (lizards, coati, birds etc) . Cayo Levantado Resort: Great, but not perfect

We have stayed at numerous resorts throughout the Caribbean, and this was definitely one of the best. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. How they maintain them to look so amazing, and with such varieties of plant life, is beyond me. The island is not flat, so be prepared to walk up and down some small hills from your room to the other parts of the resort. Nothing unreasonable, just something to be aware of if you have mobility issues. We booked a Superior Junior Suite, and the room [... read more] was huge, with a beautiful 2nd floor view of the ocean. It appears that all rooms surrounding the property were equally big and luxurious. There are also smaller rooms in the main hotel area, so I am happy that we booked the Superior Junior Suite. We had a few issues during our stay, but they were dealt with quickly. No air conditioning when we arrived, but that was fixed the next day. The safe did not work at all, but that was fixed within an hour. There was no hot water one day, forcing us to take cold showers, but that was resolved by early that same evening. We were assigned a butler, but only saw him on the first day, when we arrived. This is in contrast to the Chic Resort that we stayed at in Punta Cana, where your butler is always checking in on you, booking your dinners and massages, dealing with any room issues, and making sure everything is perfect. Our butler at Bahia Principe was invisible. We had to deal with everything ourselves. Not a big deal, but a bit of a disappointment after having a completely different experience at another 5 star resort. Food was very good, at the buffet as well as at the 2 restaurants we tried: Don Pablo (French) and Rodizio (Brazilian). I especially liked the welcome drink that was available at the buffet every morning at breakfast (mimosa) as well as a unique drink every dinner that was tied to the buffet theme of the night. There are effectively 3 beaches: 2 next to each other by the activity pool, and the public beach. The beach by the activity pool gets quite windy in the afternoon, making it a bit uncomfortable. But it is possible to find some shelter further down the beach. The public beach has boats coming and going during the day as part of their excursions, since it is a beautiful beach. It was fun to hang out there one day, although you will get kicked off of the lounge chairs, since you did not pay for an excursion. Every night, the hotel uses the public beach as a disco party area, which is always a fun experience. My wife and I just loved hanging on some lounge chairs by the ocean sipping on some drinks under the stars, with music playing in the background. My biggest issue is that the resort does not have a true "adult" vibe. It just seems to be a standard family-friendly resort, with no kids running around. The shows were all the same shows you would see at a standard family Dominican resort (Micheal Jackson show, Dominican show, Vegas show, etc.). Contrast that to other adults-only resorts we have been to, where the atmosphere is more like a club, with go-go dancers, more adult-oriented humor and games, pool parties with foam, etc. None of this was to be had at Bahia Principe, which was a disappointment. I understand that the resort will become family oriented later this year, so maybe that is why. It just could have been much more fun than it was. Overall, I would say this is more of a 4 star resort than a 5 star resort, since we have been at other 5 star resorts in the Caribbean where they treat you more like royalty (eg. bringing ice cream to everyone on the beach, replacing your wet towels with dry ones throughout the day, etc.). Still a nice resort to go to, which I summarized in the title of this review: "Great, but not perfect". It might do better as a family friendly resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Top Notch!

We’ve travelled all inclusive for the last 20 years, I always read the reviews prior to travelling. I’m not really sure where some of these negative reviews come from. From start to finish we had exceptional service, everyone went out of their way to ensure we were happy with everything. We stayed in room 18104 - great location. Ground floor, close to pool, beach and most restaurants. Thanks for a great week and hope to travel back to Jamaica some time soon!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very nice overall

The beach was disappointing, weedy and rocky. But the resort itself was excellent. Great buffet, friendly staff, nice pools, clean rooms, manicured grounds. A la carte restaurants were mostly good. Activities and shows were ok. Often had to wait for service at the pool bars. Overall good though.
