Brisas Covarrubias: great beach but a long bus ride

There were some great things about this resort and the beach being number one. It was amazing and you could walk out a very long way. The food was pretty good, albeit very repetitive, our room overlooking the ocean was excellent. However, on the down side is the 2 hour bus ride. Just too long before and after the flight.

Playa Costa Verde: Amazing staff & resort

This was my 6th visit to Playa Costa Verde & it keeps getting better...Was there from Feb. 6 to the 13th.....The food, the staff were wonderful... Have booked another trip for the end of March!!!!!! Looking forward to returning :)

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Exceeded expectations

This was my sixth time to Cuba and the first for my boyfriend. From beginning to end we had a fantastic time. The staff were always very friendly and extremely helpful, the grounds were meticulously maintained and beautifully kept. We lucked out and had beautiful, sunny days and it just rained at night. The location of this resort i [... read more]s right by an incredible reef teeming with life that the catamaran trips take you to go snorkelling at, or you can swim there yourself from the beach. The pool was lovely, although we didn't use it at all as we are beach people. The rooms were very nice; however, there was one issue that plagued us the entire time: cockroaches. We did not complain to the management about it--we were in the tropics, after all--but it was obviously a problem as they sprayed our room without us mentioning it at all. Unfortunately, the spray did absolutely nothing and we had cockroaches every day and every night. A huge one greeted us by sprinting across the floor when we got to the room on our first night, and we saw them day and night. It was a bit unsettling and we had to be extra careful when packing to go home. That, however, was the singular issue we had. As for the restaurants; well, the food was simply wonderful. This was the first time in six Cuban trips that the food was really something to write home about. The variety of foods was overwhelming and great. The specialty restaurants did an excellent job and we had no problems booking them. The Japanese was the standout for us, meal-wise and entertainment, too. The teppanyaki style was accurately duplicated and delicious. Our transfers to and from the resort were right on time and check-in and check-out went without a hitch. The bars and staff were very accommodating and quick, though they did pour with a heavy hand and if you are a lightweight you need to specify that you don't want too much alcohol in your drink. There was always food and drink available, and also a gazebo with bottles of champagne and wine on ice and snacks in the evenings in the lobby bar to just help yourself. The entertainment was fair; they did a decent job. This was by far the nicest resort I've been to in Cuba and we have been talking about going back pretty much since we got back. Also, we received a booking bonus from Trip Central that gave us access to a premium lounge in our departure city airport, which totally started our trip off right. All in all, this was an absolutely wonderful vacation.

Brisas Covarrubias: Great resort and staff !

We spent 2 weeks at this resort. A 2 hour drive from Holguin, but that was OK-as we got to see the beautiful countryside. Like most resorts in Cuba, it had it's issues, but overall, it was amazing. If you're expecting 5* resorts in Cuba to compare to our 5* standards, then stay home, cause you're not going to find it in Cuba. The room we had the first week was great, except that there was little hot water and very little water pressure. We asked to be moved for our second week, and had an even  [... read more]nicer (ocean view) room, that had hot water and great water pressure all day/all week. Everyone knows you don't go to Cuba for the food...you go for the beautiful beaches and the wonderful people. The food really wasn't too bad...we've had worse...but you make do. You'll find something you'll like. The breakfast omelets, papaya and fresh squeezed OJ was the best. Lobster was also great, but you have to pay 15 cuc for it, which is peanuts compared to what we pay at home for fresh lobster. Some meals were better than others. The pork loin we had one evening was excellent. There is always pasta if nothing else appeals to you. The staff were great, friendly, and always accommodating. You'll find they don't move to fast, but they are very hard working people, working very long hours, and they deserve everything we offer them. Just to see that look of appreciation and their smiles, is worth it all. The evening entertainment/animation staff was usually quite good, and we had some good laughs with their comedy routines. The dancers were fantastic! We wondered the beach often and found many sand dollars and conch shells to bring home. The weather was amazing, likely 30c everyday. A couple sprinkles or short showers a few times in 2 weeks, but that was OK too. They were always short lived, then the sun was shining again. I would recommend this resort, and I would like to go there again to see all the wonderful new friends we made, however, I would like to try the Caribbean side of the island on my next visit.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: NICE AND COMFORTABLE

very nice and good food the best I have had in Cuba the new area is very modern and well maintained they should have the transport carts going constantly it is very difficult to get a ride back to your area at times I cant believe how good the food was for Cuban standards. over all good hotel.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: very very good clean and well looked after

this place is great the faculties and the staff looked after our every needs. we were there for three day and one friend we were traveling with past away and as the resort has reps from the Canadian consulate on site we were looked after very well and were able to bring our friend home with us. we were there for 28 days and despite our lost we had a great time.

Playa Costa Verde: Awesome Again & Again

We found this resort in 2012 and keep going back. The staff are just wonderful and always have time to say Helo and Have a great day. The staff are so friendly and go above and beyond to be helpful. The food is good with lots of variety at every meal. The food is always fresh. There are also 3 Al A Carts. The Japanese is lots of fun. I went snorkeling for the first time last year. There is a coral reef not far out. I can actually stand on both sides of the reef. This makes snorkeling for me fun. [... read more] The beach is nice but I would recommend you wear water socks or something on your feet in the water. The rooms are average but than how much time do you spend in your room? They are very clean. T.V is not great but I don't go there to watch T.V. The grounds are looking more groomed this year compared to previous years.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Away from the Canadian winter.

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel and once again we enjoyed it very much. We chose to stay in a Villa this time around and will continue to book the Villas from now on. The room was always clean and it's obvious by how hard the cleaning staff work. The food was good and for the picky eaters there is always something to choose from. The beach never disappointments. Looking forward to next year.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort!

We stayed in the plus section. Very nice rooms always hot water. The room was spotless! The cleaning maid was very friendly. The pools were always clean. The plus section pool could use a few more sun shades as it very sunny with no trees. The beach was very rocky, but we read about it and brought our water shoes. Snorkeling was amazing!! The food was good. Lobster dinner was wonderful!! The plus section bar served amazing drinks. Good wine and great Spanish coffee's. The only thing was that the [... read more] resort was very busy. Long line ups for the buffet and always had to get up early to get a lawn chair at the beach. Certainly not the resorts fault as it was February high season. I would definitely go back!!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

This was my first time all-inclusive, and I was quite impressed. It would definitely recommend the Plus option, as the pool was quieter and there were more a la Carte dinners. The grounds were well maintained, and our room was clean with a nice balcony to enjoy the view. The beach was a little rocky, but beautiful sand. Playa Pesquero: Awesome vacation spot

This hotel is amazing. It is a larger resort with lots to do, and so if you are elderly or compromised you may find this resort too large. The Cuban people whom work on the resort are very friendly and they go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable. Excellent time!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Could have been better

The hotel itself and resort was a great layout with lots of pools, places to eat and a market set up right next to it daily. The service was poor and staff was rude. The buffet was the only place to get good dining service, all a la cartes had one to two staff members serving an entire sitting. Also the maintenance staff staired at us quite often.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Amazing Resort

This resort was everything you could ask for and more. the food, the grounds the people and the room were all excellent. We stayed for 7 Days and had no problems with anything. Check in and Check out went smooth and easy. Hotel staff was so very willing to help with anything.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: fun in the sun

Snorkeling right off the beach what more could you ask for..staff works very hard at service and entertaining you! I would recommend to others. I went for sun and relaxing and got my moneys worth. Thanks to all the hard working staff

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Incredible Beach

We had a good time with friends and family here. First off, the staff that greeted and took us to our room were excellent. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we wanted. This was one of the nicest beaches we've seen, the layout, the access to the water and the ability to stand up while looking at the fish swim through the coral sections. No trouble getting a drink and it is worth the upgrade to get access to the VIP bar (the best selecti [... read more]on and taste of any bar we've been to so far).

Grounds were lovely staff friendly dining room decent pools beautiful. Beach outstanding activities fun. I would say overall the place is somewhere I would go again and invite friends. The market had lovely things and the opportunity to do things was all at our fingertips. Loved the dance lessons and exercise classes the shows were fantastic and the weather a1. Paradisus Rio De Oro: "Best Vacation Ever"

I have traveled to Cuba before.. 3 times actually.. but this resort exceeded my expectations!! We know the beaches are beautiful and the weather always good... but the rooms and those beds!!! soooo comfortable. Out of the additional restaurants you could choose from, the Japanese and the Mediterranean would wonderful .. and this is a resort you can go back and tell your friends "The Food was FANTASTIC" the Spa is a must go too.. Sol Turquesa Beach: Much to improve

Nice resort, pool area very nice, a lot of space and chairs, entertainment sub par, food redundant and bland. Nice rooms, staff rude, food rationed. Had 3 bad days of weather and the staff was invisible. Beach nice when cleaned, had 2 days of dirty beach.

The grounds we're well maintained, staff was friendly, resort was clean, the food was good, enjoyed the daily entertainment, was a little disappointed that the bar did not serve Mojitos until the last day of my trip...

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Nice Resort

This small set of two hotels has been upgrading their grounds, rooms, buildings, kid activity area, and restaurants over the last few years. Situated on the beautiful Emeralda beach about 1 1/2 hours from the Holguin airport. The staff is excellent and accommodating. This year for some reason the evening presentations were not like in the past, spectacular and talented presenters in classy shows.. This resort is well worth you travel dollar.
