Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Good resort

The resort is clean and the staff is friendly. The resort lacks a lot of food options . The beach is damaged due to a storm the hit the island about a month ago so it's not the same anymore. Hopefully the resort will fix the beach soon. The area is known for mosquitoes so take precautions before you arrive.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Resort

Beautiful resort ! Amazing beach and the friendliest staff ever! The rooms were comfortable and clean. The food was basic with noticeable missing items from certain food groups. But we made the best of it and did not go hungry at all & never missed a meal. The staff was very friendly and happy. Loved it!

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Spectacular

This was my 3rd time to this resort. The staff is amazing. Always something to do if you want or just relax. The kids club is wonderful. I will definitely be returning. Grounds are clean, water beautiful. There is something to eat for everyone.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Okay Resort

The grounds immaculate. I couldn't eat, the food was covered in flies. That was so disgusting. Beach and pool areas were great. The staff was pleasant. There's was an odor in my building lobby. The rooms need to be updated. Some of the fixtures were falling out of the walls. Sanitation was non existing. *October 2023*

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Was amazing

Food was the best that I had at any resort. Staff were amazing. Issue with hot water, but staff made arrangements for me to shower in another room as I didn't want to change rooms. I had a great room overlooking the ocean.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Lots of fun

My friends and I had a terrific time. The place was clean and comfortable. The staff were outstanding! They were always happy to help out, serve you, chat, whatever....The beach was beautiful, especially when we would go for a walk before breakfast.

Melia Marina Varadero: Nice, but...

Let me start with the good part. The room was bright and spacious and overlooked the pool and sea! Great! Food was OK. But... there were quite a few shortcomings which I will list here with the hope that the management will improve sooner rather than later considering a hotel of this calibre. The mini-bar fridge only had one beer - no soft drinks (pop) at all anywhere in the hotel. Management and standards should be improved. I do understand that the economy is bad and tourism scarce, but with so many hotels along the coast one has to do better to entice tourists now that the peak season is starting. Also, most staff do not speak English. How do you expect tourists to be taken care of properly? Thank God for Google Translate! Housekeeping and restaurant staff were pretty nice.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Great Resort

Great Hotel especially when you look at quality price.. I would go back anyday. One of the best beaches i have seen in Cuba. The personnel were ALL outstanding and helpful. Hotel extremly clean..Enjoyed very much the coffee at the lobby bar. The only small problem since we were in the rainy season some nights there were many mosquitos so bring bug spray.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Wonderful place

My husband and I went to the Paradisus to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We have been to many other places around Cuba over the years but I didn't know what I was missing. This place was just better that others. Staff extremely happy and helpful. Food plentiful, eggs, bacon, fries, pasta, chicken, desserts, great soups, juices, fruit, salads, fish etc, were all plentiful. The grounds were exceptional. Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Iberostar Belle Vista Varadero

This hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport. First impression walking into hotel lobby was wow! Beautiful view of ocean with a large upper deck. Friendly staff. Beautiful beach, Two large swimming pools, one with swim up bar. Great kids area with two pools. The grounds people keep the place looking great. Lots of lush, beautiful plants and trees. Snack bar, one main Buffett and three a-la-carte restaurants. Room was large, bed was pretty comfy, free safe in room. Bar fridge, but they donâ [... read more]€™t stock it. You do get bottled water in your room everyday. Room smelt a little musty but I brought air freshener and after having the air conditioning on the smell was gone after a day or so. After reading reviews and first time to Cuba, I always found something to eat and I didn’t miss ketchup or mustard, haha. Would I go back, maybe but I think I would book the prestige with a swim out room. You also have access to an 11th floor buffet and bar area, which I heard from other guest was very good. Overall this hotel is good value for your money

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: No proper lighting , no phone or tv channels in my section

1. Light outside my unit did not work so it was pitch dark in the night to walk down the stairs and this prevented me from attending the nightly entertainment. No one seemed to care that a female guest did not have sufficient light to walk outside in the night . They were aware of this the first night but failed to fix it in the daytime. A “maintenance” guy came late on my 3rd night to ask to come into my room in the night to check the breaker but I did not want a stranger in my room so la [... read more]te especially when I could not see who it was outside. 2. The phone did not work so had to walk all the way to the lobby every time I needed info or something such as the wifi renewal which no one told me expired after some hours. 3.No channels on room tv , was not connecting to satellite, never fixed during my stay so no tv at all. No one seemed to care about the 3 issues above . Very frustrating. Curtains and mattress/ bed box , sheets and towels all had stains. Got a very torn pool towel too. Italian restaurant a la carte food was not very good. Grass outside my unit stairs was very long . Pathways near my section were unlit and made it very difficult to see and walk in the night . Most staff was pleasant and friendly. Food was surprisingly good esp the beef, veal and lamb and the flavoured rice . Breakfast omelettes and deli meats and cheese were good too. One wait staff told me she didn’t want to be tipped in US$ . Good location with beach access but too much seaweed and broken shells which may cut. I heard the entertainment was good but again, I could not see properly at night to walk out to the main area due to lack of lighting despite use of the torchlight which didn’t make me feel safe walking solo near the long overgrown bushes too.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: People are Amazing

On our 1st day we meet George the representative of Air Transat his very helpful to us, he make us stayed memorable, the chef is very accommodating about my request, the people in the snack bar is very friendly 😀 over all I want to come back and bring more friends 😀

Brisas Guardalavaca: The Worst Resort in Holguin Cuba

Do NOT travel to Brisas Guardalavaca. It is the worst Resort for customer service. There is no food and alcoholic drinks available for the Canadian tourists. All the food and drinks (especially beer) is stolen by local Cubans visiting the hotel. Hotel Customer Relations is a joke. The staff at the Customer Relations favours Cubans who come to stay a few days versus tourists coming in for a longer stay. What ever food is left is full of salt. I strongly recommend staying away from this particular resort.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort

The hotel is very well maintained with lovely landscaping and great pool area. The rooms are roomy with good housekeeping daily. We found the staff to be very friendly and always ready to accommodate your needs. The beach is beautiful and cleaned daily.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: 3* hotel

Horrible service and food, 5* star beach and ocean. Wouldn’t consider this resort for the future trips. The buffet been closed every two days. If you don’t make a reservation afternoon before 2pm - you fcuked

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

This resort is a little gem. It’s a small/medium resort. People with mobility issues this is great for. The beach is stunning one of the best we have seen. The food is good this is Cuba so don’t expect Mexico or Jamaica standards. They do their best with what they have. You will never go hungry. The pizza on the beach is amazing. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful, friendly, cozy place to stay.

It was a terrific place to stay. Everything was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was somewhat disappointing., but from what I understand the variety is just not available. It was wasn't too busy as it was just before the start of high season and it suited me and my friends just fine. I am afraid to say that we missed out on some of the evening entertainment. What I saw was, excellent!

Pros Star prestige swim out is a definite must - personal concierge, private dining area, late check out, discounts on spa services and room service. The beach is beautiful (although too rough the week we were there due to weather) The panoramic restaurant and floor has a breathtaking view and nice to just hang out, socialize, enjoy the view, etc. The resort is the perfect size so you’re not walking miles to get from one place to another. Check in was efficient considering only two people there that late at night, the wait wasn’t too bad. The food at Panoramic restaurant was buffet and a la crate for breakfast and lunch and fully a la crate at dinner with a different menu daily. The rooms are immaculately clean and very spacious. Our king size bed looked more like a bed for two kings - it was gigantic. The grounds are well kept and quite beautiful with lush trees and vibrant flowers. Always someone maintaining the property and ready to hand out flowers to all the ladies. One of my favourite things about this place was all the Spanish music everywhere you went. Felt like you were on vacation in the tropics vs having silence like most resorts do in certain areas. I The #1 pro of this resort is the service. Everywhere you went, you were greeted with a smile and greeting. Everyone at the ready to serve and remembering the small things, making you feel truly valued as a guest. Although we were Star Prestige, we did venture to the general buffet and a la cartes and the service was equally incredible regardless of where we went. Our concierge Diana was simply the best. Check in daily to make sure we had what we needed. She was super helpful when I needed medical care for a sciatic nerve outbreak and went the extra mile to get us a later checkout due to my lack of mobility. Super friendly and always ready with a smile. She really made our week all the better. No idea how she manages every star prestige guest with the same level of amazing service and a smile. Cons While commendable for Iberostar to go green, no paper access to menus or daily activities caused some hiccups although not deal breaking. We had some rain while we were there and floors had to be squeegeed but unfortunately done down the elevator shaft, making the elevator to the 11th floor inoperable. There was a shortage of pop (all over Cuba) as well as some of the beer kegs. This is not on Iberostar as the entire country is suffering shortages. The food was repetitive on all vegetables - the exact same vegetables cooked the exact same way, leaving zero variety to try something different day over day. The Italian a la carte was not Italian by any stretch. Tomato based pasta was made with barbecue sauce and not tomatoes. It was disgusting. While Cuba does suffer shortages of food, there is always something to eat. It would help if they knew some other recipes to bring more variety to guests. The lounge chairs need to be tightened as most had a gaping drop in the middle making them super uncomfortable. The huts on the beach are plenty but they’re super close together so be prepared to get to know your neighbours. Overall: The service at this place is the main reason people keep coming back. If you’ve been to Varadero and had terrible service, you may want to transfer to this great resort where they treat you like family.
